I love how Jonghyuk is innocent enough to think- nvm. Anyway, tell me he’s not a jellyfish! He’s not looking at Dokja because he knows Fokja can read him well- (someone stop my delusions)
I told him, “it’s not like that. Do you think my face is full of love?” —
Yoo Jonghyuk stared at me quietly and said, “certainly, I don’t care if you die.”
Shit.

“Don’t forget I still have one hit left.”

He’s so jealous- who randomly says ‘I don’t care if you die’? ...wait never mind.

For some reason, I have this head cannon that Jonghyuk never swears and it feeds my inner shipper when he swears because all the instances where he does swear has something to do with Dokja.
“Aren’t I a prophet? Now. Give me your sword.” Yoo Jonghyuk knew was I was going to do and obediently offered his sword.

Don’t tell me he pulled an Edward Cullen 💀 except it’s death, not sleep.

Yoo Jonghyuk’s eyes narrowed. Min Jiwon, who hadn’t wanted to disturb us, finally interrupted. She had a startled expression on her face as she said,
“The two of you are quite familiar with each other.”
He sounds jealous, but ik he’s just sus. (You can’t spell sus without us ❤️) Min Jiwon smells it-
“Jonghyuk, we can save the world. Don’t you know?”
Yoo Jonghyuk stared at me. “What are you talking about?”
HE SAID THE GIVEN NAME, YA’LL! CALM DOWN!!!
“Now now. Our Supreme King is in a bad mood right now, so back off. Do you want to die?” I personally stepped forward to get rid of any causes of depression.

Was it the right choice to take care of this child? Maybe it I would make her unhappy. For now, it was unknown. However, I would do my best to protect this child.
This isn’t a Dokhyuk moment, but this is so cute. Like a parent feeling insecure about raising an adopted child.
I mean- Jonghyuk of another regression raised her, so...<divorced parents and the daddy takes the child but feels unsure because the dad was the one that psysically took care of the child (feeding and all)>

The fact that his first thought was ‘Kim Dokja’ 😘

I don’t know what to say about this. Out of context (or even in context if you think about it), it’s really romantic.

This sounds like a love confession. I remember how Uriel almost fainted in this scene. AND THEY WERE HOLDING HANDSHAJEJEIEH.
I opened my mouth and glanced at Yoo Jonghyuk. “The name of our nebula would be...Kim Dokja’s Company.”
“There isn’t a name yet.” Yoo Jonghyuk casually interrupts.
It’s like they’re naming a child and can’t agree on a name. AND THEYRE STILL HOLDING HANDSNEKEJEOEO.
[...I’ll also give a name to your nebulae. It shall be Forbidden-omph omphh]
The archangels kinda annoyed me in this scene. Let Uriel finish!!!
“Hey! These are Kim Dokja’s items! Are you going to steal them?”
“...why did Kim Dokja leave his items to you?”
“That...is because I am his most trustworthy person?”
“Then I will kill you and take them.”

Yoo Jonghyuk thought for a while before finally letting her go.

—I felt a bit sorry. I hadn’t intended this to happen. However, Yoo Jonghyuk should also suffer for a bit.

Lee Sookyung had this strange feeling feeling at his dismissive attitude. It was a disturbing feeling only a mother to a child could detect.
I don’t really know what I’m supposed to make of this, so I’ll just say that it was her mother’s instincts and it appeared because YJH is her son-in-law.
“Kim Dokja told you about my story?”
“He did. He told me a lot.” —
“Kim Dokja is necessary in this world. I need him.”— “He will be my companion and he will see the end of the scenarios.”

At this moment, an enlightenment filled Lee Sookyung’s head.

And is it just me or did anyone else read YJH’s ‘Why’ in a really childish voice?

Finally, Yoo Jonghyuk spoke. “I guess your mother doenst like me.”
THIS IS SUCH A BOYFRIEND THING TO SAY- tell me this isn’t a boyfriend this to say-
“Yoo Jonghyuk. Do you remember the nebula we made? Kim Dokja’s Comapny..” —
“...you still want to use that name.” Yoo Jonghyuk moved closer to me and pulled out a sword. “I will chose the name.”
‘The nebula we made’ has me so soft 🥺. And I always wanted to know what YJH would’ve named the nebula.
They’re like parents that can’t agree on a name!!
However, there was a limit to the blow Yoo Jonghyuk could deal. He gasped and stepped back.

“Remember the 2nd scenario?” —
Who would’ve thought at the time? Me and this guy, we would actually end up as companions.

Don’t you just love it when the main pair looks back at their first meeting and recite words that they first said to eachother? Ahhhh.

THE WAY YJH’s VOICE ALONE WAS ENOUGH TO BRING DOKJA TO HIS SENSES!! I know that Sooyang was there too, but it was Jonghyuk’s voice that sealed the deal.

A little cute SP moment to get you ready for this part. He’s not Dokja’s Jonghyuk, but it works similarly.
“Hrmm. Aren’t the two of you close these days? A few days ago, I saw...”
Yoo Jonghyuk’s expression because grim and the cowardly Lee Jihye shut her mouth. Jung Heewon tapped Lee Jihye on the shoulder.
“Stop teasing Jonghyuk-ssi.”

I never had a child, but I knew how it felt like after meeting Shin Yoosung.

By the time I moved, Yoo Jonghyuk had already received the jade. His expression something I had never seen before. Yoo Jonghyuk was looking at me with eyes that had never been present in Ways of Survival.

The story of Kim Dokja and Yoo Jonghyuk -
This is Bihyung’s POV...I just find it cute that he calls it ‘the story of KDJ and YJH.’
Yoo Jonghyuk wiped his bloody lips and murmured, “It should’ve been me who died here.” ——
He didn’t say anyone but his despair was conceived every time his blade cut me.
This gives me nostalgic romance novel flashbacks. Back when I used to read lots of sappy straight novels.
I laughed as Yoo Jonghyuk’s sword oeuvres through my heart. —
My body sank down slowly and Yoo Jonghyuk held onto me. “Kim Dokja.” —
Yoo Jonghyuk stared down at me silently. I couldn’t find any words and just stared.
So you’re telling me- that Dokja died in Jonghyuk’s arms?!? This is literally the most used trope-
And they just say there, staring at eachother. What about the other people?
“Let’s meet again, Yoo Jonghyuk.”
*lets out traumatizing sobs*
in another life~
“Kim Dokja! No! Kim Dokja!”
At the last moment, he tightly held me by the neck.
His choking kink stays there no matter the circumstances.
And he waited till the last moment to say anything, as if he expected Dokja to revive.
And the fact that Yoo Jonghyuk, the protagonist that never wavered when his companions died (at least in front of anyone) just cried out like that for one person...*sighs*

Not gonna lie, I thought this really wa s the end on my first read. I never checked how many chapters there were until I reached chapter 310.
Certainly, Yoo Jonghyuk’s reaction to Kim Dokja’s death was puzzling.
Yoo Jonghyuk stayed in his room like a broken person for a while before suddenly disappearing.
Depression~ and yet again, I am reminded of that Haikyuu fic.

Damn, it was starting! I had forgotten for a while. If Yoo Jonghyuk suffered from ‘regression depression’, then this person suffered from a thorough self-loathing.
I don’t think there was any sane main character in Ways of Survival.
So...Hayoung is basically Dokja’s daughter, so ‘like father like daughter?’ Because Jonghyuk is the other dad..?
Sooyang can be the surrogate mother.
“Why’s re you going so far to find Kim Dokja?”

I noticed that he turns his head whenever he is flustered.
The shoulders of the Uriel doll trembled and she made an expression that she wouldn’t make even if Eden was destroyed.
So, I don’t think we talk about this enough.
Uriel seems to be able to do ANYTHING for her ship! I know that she’s also doing this for Dokja as well, but she could’ve tile Heewon to do this.
She literally risked a WAR for her nebula for her ship. Even Aphrodite didn’t go that far!
Then, I said [Don’t touch my incarceration, Asmodeus]
Boyfriend* 🙊 Once again, I see why Uriel saw Dokja as the top. I personally think they’d switch.
Deep sultry eyes were set beneath neat eyebrows. All the standards of taht determined beauty of the world ware collapsed at the same time. It was a face that couldn’t be deceived using a modifiers of a constellation.
— Who wa s this girl? Did I know her? Rather...why did she hate me so much?
So, the punisher was the first female that Dokja spurted poetry about. I was scared, tbh. Then, I found out that she was indeed, Yoo Jonghyuk...
And I love how Jonghyuk wholeheartedly blames Dokja for this situation.
“I’m joking, I’m joking. I know. You don’t like girls.”
I love it when characters in the novel comment things like this. It gives us canon reasons to ship this ship. (Unlike Sasunaru or other BxB ships)
As expected, it was Uriel that convinced Yoo Jonghyuk to save me. It was as I expected. He wouldn’t come here alone on his own wishes.
The tone seems almost disappointed. this is another trope. I’m finding lots of tropes that this couple follows. I’ll make another post about it once this franchise is done.
“Ah this person can communicate with being of other scenarios.” —

It was something that was unthinkable when he grabbed me by the neck.
So...I actually read this wrong and thought that YJH grabbed KDJ’s neck and kissed him 😭

This is sad and heartwarming at the same time.

[Why? You don’t like it? A neighboring archangel told me that this was your taste]
“It’s an absolute misunderstanding.” —
Persephone was currently in the form of Yoo Jonghyuk. It was just really fortunate that she wasn’t wearing a Chinese dress.

Persephone smiled and I flushed, despite knowing it the other person was Persephone. She was in the form of ‘the punisher’

Lmao- the fact that they’re the same person 😭. And Persephone should’ve worn that Chinese Dress.

So I’m kinda confused. Is Jonghyuk’s spiritual gender more feminine or something? Or is it a mistranslation? Is it because being a female gives Jonghyuk’s beauty more respect?
And lol. His top priorities are still to keep Dokja from seeing him and a ‘her’
He saw Kim Dokja on Lee Hyunsung’s back.

The true voice burst out and the constellations blocked their ears for a moment. —

The difference between them tho- when Dokja was dying, the regretted sunfish of a bastard slapped his cheeks till they were swollen.
And then here’s Dokja, freaking 😭 ng and begging for Jonghyuk to not die.
I ran with all my strength while carrying Yoo Jonghyuk on my back. “Wake up! Please” — I listened to his gradually slowing heart beat and cried, “Hey, don’t mess around! You can recover! Do something!”
^again, just look at the desperation.
One of my favorite angst tropes is when a character listens to the heartbeat of their lover slowly disappearing.
[Yoo Jonghyuk had a thought]
“Don’t think it.”
[This life ends here]
“Dammit! Don’t think about it!”
— “Shit! Don’t go back! You jerk, leave him alone!”

The fact that (spoilers) older Dokja probably saw himself like that and felt a wave of nostalgia watching his younger self hate him so much. TT

I love everything about this fable (yes, I called it a fable despite going through the effort I put into edit it all the ‘the story’).
The name makes it sound as if they were married. Every time something happens and the stories stop their storytelling, this one always perseveres.
“Do you really consider Kim Dokja as your comrade?”
“You’re asking an unnecessary question.”
“I know that the two of you went through all sorts of crappy scenarios and built up some sort of a bond in the process. But, separate from all that, there is something I still can’t wrap my head around, you see.” — “You originally didn’t have any allies and stuff like that. But, you’ve changed so much after entering this regression turn.”
“…”
“That’s why I can’t trust you. You used to forsake your allies all for your great cause, so why are you trying to rescue Kim Dokja now?”
He replied to her. “Once these scenarios come to an end, there is something I must confirm with Kim Dokja.”
Oddly poetic. Han Sooyoung is like that besta friendo that interrogates her friends’ lovers.
There it was. Right there in the path of emptiness he was gazing at, the history he lived alongside Kim Dokja lay scattered like the Milky Way. Yoo Joonghyuk ran on that path.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ you know, every time I reread this novel and notice all the times Yoo Joonghyuk tried to save Dokja as desperately like this, I always feel like crying because holy shit the Epilogue would be such a smack in the face for Joonghyuk if he saw the future. ⚠️⚠️⚠️
And we always joked about how Yoo Joonghyuk’s entire life ended up revolving around Dokja in this regression but…okay I’m not gonna spoil—
counterpoint, Kim Dokja’s Company has a name was only made official after Dokja took a three year vacation. If anything, it’s Kim Dokja’s Company because the people who love him desire nothing but his company.
It's called "Kim Dokja's Company" because he is the one thing that links them all, because they all surround Kim Dokja, because Kim Dokja is a lonely existence that has never had company before and the entirety of the novel is his loved ones grasping at straws to remain in his company while keeping HIM company.
It's Kim Dokja’s Company because the lonely child wanted nothing more than to have company and for the people around him to like his company.
