PJO Headcannons pt. 1 — Hazel
— a new series where I post my headcannons / outfit boards for the pjo ppl.
— pjo headcannons !!!! Hazel is around 15 (because I have zero clue how old she actually is in cannon, blame Rick!)
Outfit Board / Face-claim :
— she tends to wear more beige leaning clothes, and a lot of skirts/dresses, etc. but on the quest she mainly wore T-Shirts, pants, and shorts. Afterwards she got to wear all of her rlly super duper pretty clothes 💗
— her purple crystal necklace was a gift from Nico after the quest !!! he has a matching one !!!
— during the quest her hair was in butterfly locs !!!
Outfit Board:
— sapphic in some way or form
— loves rings, but doesn’t wear them too often because they’re kinda inconvenient for when she rides her horse
— loves drying flowers and hanging them up in her cabin (she gifted nico framed dried flowers, he hung it up in his cabin)
— after the quest she put her hair in bubble braids with the help of Annabeth !!! <3
— annabeth and her spare together
— annie, piper, and her get along rlly well and have long calls through iris messaging
— when they’re free Frank and her go on little dates outside of Camp Jupiter
— sense she’s technically supposed to be dead, animals don’t register her as being alive, this means that butterflies are attracted to her because they feed off of dead things
— her heart beat is a second or two slower than normal
— the tips of her fingers are pure white, mainly from being in the underworld for so long her soul started to die out, and when she brought back by nico it left permanent markings on her fingertips.

If Jason had been written to have atleast somewhat of a jealousy streak of Percy, then it would have made him more human tbh. Ironically I feel like the fandom would've been much more empathetic to his character, if he acknowledged that he envied Percy a little and then came to terms with it. We know that Jason's fear of being 2nd best is a very integral part of his character, I mean, Gaia taunting him with that in his nightmares was enough to reduce him into tears. and that's the ONLY time we've even remotely seen him cry. Percy had so many things Jason didn't have, a loving mom, a loving girlfriend who took a knife for him and never broke his heart, a loving camp that looked for him endlessly after he went missing, people ACTUALLY wanting him to survive because they care about him not because they need him for glory, etc. and if im being honest Poseidon wasn't even that bad of a father (for a big three god, atleast) tbh he still came to percy's 15th birthday, invited him to fishing, genuinely loved sally, she was probably the only mortal he fell in love with and it stayed that way, he was never rude to percy and stuck up for him etc. not tryna say percy had it easy or anything ofc he didnt, but there is no point in denying that he had a MUCH better support system than jason ever had.
The fact that Jason despite having none of these things was not even remotely envious of Percy made him appear like a bland robot with no emotional baggage
Compare this to Nico, who was rightfully a little jealous/idolizing Percy while simultaneously having a crush on him, also a little jealous of Jason because he was "the golden boy" who everyone respected, it made him have SO much depth and the fandom loves him (rightfully so)
also, leo. He was resentful of Percy up until blood of Olympus because of how everyone loved him, how Calypso fell for him almost immediately, etc. it's very realistic.Jason feeling a little resentful of Percy and then later talking it out would've made his character much less of a shallow stereotypical nice guy that ppl dislike.
maybe Rick could've expanded on Jason's jealousy of how quickly camp Jupiter accepted Percy and how quickly Reyna made him praetor, when jason himself had dedicated his whole life to it and was only made praetor in the last couple months, how camp Jupiter and his supposed friends never held a memorial for him even after they thought he was dead, etc. Also how Percy spent more time with thalia than jason ever did, we know he did feel a little envious since he mentioned how much he wished thalia looked for him the way she was looking for percy
I would've loved to see Jason being a little cold to Reyna too because of this and then they later talk it out, since it's VERY realistic, I was surprised with how quickly jason shrugged the whole Percy- being- a -praetor thing off, I thought he'd have felt a little betrayed by Reyna considering that they were childhood friends, and reyna never really sent a search party or something after him like annabeth did, gods, the amount of angst potential this man had i love him ugh
headcannon that jason just kind of knows what the weather is gonna be like 24/7
this! this is why percy and jason are foils for each other! they aren’t meant to be compared and measured up against each other, but they’re basically two sides of the same coin, so to speak.
perceus means ‘destroyer’ and jason means ‘to heal’
jason was named such to appease the gods, and percy was named as such to defy the fates and give him hope for a happy ending in spite of what the gods may throw at him.
jason is malicious compliance, and percy is outright defiant to the system. jason has been part of the system forever and seeks to fix it from the inside, while percy is an outsider to the system and seeks to fix it outright, through full front opposition.
neither is wrong, it’s just that they reflect each other
it makes me wonder what json would’ve been like had he not been raised in a military setting from the age of 2
this is my favorite Jason moment of all time. We don’t often see a lot of his character in the books other than subtle undertones and this gives us a direct look inside his mind. Imagine you’re a demigod in New Rome, and everyone’s been hyping up this Jason guy. Jason Grace, the son of Jupiter and praetor of New Rome, the guy who makes and enforces the law, changed the way of living for all roman demigods. A leader and role model for all And then when you finally meet him he’s like “I chafe under the rules 😎”

Sons of Jupiter do not cry.
They’re strong, powerful leaders. Tough soldiers, fearsome, lords of lightning. Crying shows weakness. It shows vulnerability. Something a child of the king of the gods could not afford to do.
Jason hadn’t cried in front of others since he was three. He’d had that beaten out of him by Lupa and her wolves. People looked up to him as their Praetor, their ideal Roman warrior. He had to always stay strong, always be vigilant, never show weakness.
The only time they’d seen the Son of Jupiter cry was the moment he lost Leo.
He screamed His name, his voice filled with utter sorrow as the explosion lit the sky. He fell to his knees, sobbing. Head in hands and just fucking sobbing. All sense of dignity was shattered, as he lay there, his knees in the wet grass, crumpled and crying like an infant. All his expectations, all the visages of the Prince of the Sky were lost alongside Him. He just bawled and bawled. No comfort could resolve him. He just stayed there, crying. A broken man.
