I know he had his memories wiped but do you think maybe fireworks remind him of the bombs used in WWII? Like he probably used to hide with Bianca during that stuff and now hes kinda alone.

ok, so i just finished the last book from HoO and i need to say that, even though i LOVED this saga, i am kinda disappointed with the ending... and here is why:

(tbh, i don't know if these are controversial or general agreement topics, but pls be nice!)

i felt like a lot of things were missing, like, for example, WHY the hell didn't have a scene with Percy and his mother??? not even a LETTER?? 😭 my boy went missing for so long, his mum must be dying from worries and we don't even get a chapter with them both talking?? after everything Sally has done on the first saga?

another character that i felt was forgotten is Grover. tbf, i didn't expect like a whole scene with a long dialogue with him, but, how much it would cost just to say that, for example, Nico saw him, Percy and Annabeth talking together? the og trio. he deserved so much better 💔

ok, so we miss all these, but what do we get?? JASON AND PIPER KISSING! like, i understand the importance of the scene (a new begining and shit) but is not like we haven't seen it happening before, they say it was their first kiss but that part didn't had any impact on me like???? and they're just a OK couple, doesn't even gets close to that Percabeth kiss scene in the end of the last PJO book. so, yeah, was this REALLY necessary??

Leo's "death" was a really weak angst. don't get me wrong, leo is one of my favourite characters of all time, and i know some of the readers got really sad, but i didn't, because i knew he wouldn't die (ok, this was my fault maybe, but i saw that he was the one who narrates the last chapter) and we kinda of knew his plan, i knew he had the cure with him yk?

and, complementing topic 4, the last chapter being about him and Calipso was just 😐😐 like, everyone thinks he is dead, but we know he is not, so it doesn't have this weight anymore, and, then, he goes to Calipso... i know he is obsessed with her, and talk about her throughout all the book, but, why this was the last chapter??? A WHOLE SAGA SAYING ABOUT MONSTERS AND GAIA AND IT JUST END WITH TWO "TEENS" TALKING ABOUT OH YEAH WE DONT KNOW WHERE WE ARE GOING BY THE WAY

And, in the topic of monster and battle, the Gaia battle was SO DAMN BORING!!! Ok, so Rick passed 5 whole books saying to readers "hey, pay attention! they can't let Gaia wake up or else will be THE END OF THE WORLD" and we are like "ok lol" and then she wakes up and i was like "OH SHIT WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO DO?? IS THE END!!! NOOOO!!!" ... she appears... they drag her to the sky... one explosion (and an unnecessary Octavian death) and BOOM! its over. "simple" like that. AND without any relevant deaths.

i am just angry because the end of PJO was wonderful. they had to do hard sacrifices, (Charlie), it had betrayal plot (Silena) and redemption (Silena and Luke). they had to use ALL the forces they could think of and still was a difficult battle. and the main villain was a TITAN!!!!! Gaia was supposed to be SO MUCH DIFFICULT, and yet, it was not. the giants were harder to fight.

and talking about fight. the way that the amazons and the hunters didn't appear back was so 😐😐 too. like, it seemed they were forgotten like Grover and Sally. not even a change of letters? just to guarantee they were ok...

my verdict: pjo CRUSHES hoo

anyway, i know that there's "more" but i also know that The Seven™ will not be all together again, so its just kinda of disappointment to know that was the end... feel free to also give your opinion (but try to avoid future spoilers please!)

GUYS! I FINELY ATE THE SNACK LEO WAS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT!!

ok, so throughout HoO Leo always talks about this "Fonzies" snack and I got really curious to taste it since he love it so much!

Well... my sister just got back from Italy and brought some for me!!

The taste is pretty good! i would give a 7.5/10. It reminds me "Cheetos" but less salty.

i recommend it, but would not eat all the time!

rereading MOA and i just want to know who the other friends are i mean sure it could just mean Grover and Tyson and stuff but it would be so much cooler if she also went on quests with the other campers like a quest with annabeth and clarisse would be kickass and also will but coming back to the point who are the other friends????

PJO + HOO headcannons (reasonings included!)

percy - bisexual. i know this one is very popular within the fandom, but i feel like he definitely had a crush on luke and beckodorf.

annabeth - bisexual + demisexual. this one is mainly because i like rachabeth and pipabeth, but i still need percabeth to be cannon. she's demi because most of her crushes/people i ship her with are people she has bonds with.

grover - straight ally. i'm not sure why i have this one, i just don't feel like he'd like men, but literally all his friends are gay in some aspect.

thalia - lesbian and asexual. i know she was in love with luke for a long time, but i can't see her as anything but loving girls. i also said asexual because i believe rick had said that all hunters of artemis are on the asexual spectrum.

nico - gay. this one is cannon, and that's basically my reasoning.

bianca - aro/ace. it might be because we didn't see enough of her, but i don't feel like she ever experienced romantic attraction, even before the hunters.

will - bisexual. i'm not sure why but he just gives me bi vibes.

clarisse - lesbian. but like, stereotypical lesbian. i don't think she romantically liked chris, maybe they were close friends, but i headcannon she dated him to get over her crush on silena.

silena - pan. i have a headcannon that most, if not all, of aphrodite's kids are pansexual because they have too much love.

beckondorf - straight ally. idk just can't see him with men.

luke - i have never though about this one before, mainly cuz i hate luke. but i'd say straight.

rachel - pan + asexual. idk why pan but it just fits her, and then asexual because she can't date now that she's the oracle.

drew - omni. she definitely likes all genders, but she prefers men.

piper - bi. like i said, most aphrodite kids are pan. piper is not one of those. but she;s bi since she definitely loved jason, but i feel like she did have a crush on annabeth.

leo - pan. not sure why, but it might be because i find him compatible with many people.

jason - bi + asexual. i feel like the idea of sexual activities make him uncomfortable. and that he's never thought of anyone sexually, and only ever romantically.

heads up! i have not read the rest of heroes of olympus. when i have, i will come back and update it with the headcannons for the other characters!

Annabeth's fatal flaw is hubris until Percy is in danger and she takes a knife for him out of loyalty. Percy's fatal flaw is loyalty until he has to relent his pride to reject Godhood and let Luke defeat Kronos to become the true hero of Olympus. A young Annabeth didn't need loyalty, because people never stuck around for her. A young Percy had his pride of self beaten out of him in every rejection from teachers and classmates.

Annabeth learns loyalty from the boy that sticks around for her, that sneaks onto a deadly quest just to find her. Percy learns pride from the girl that believes in him and trusts his judgement, unlike every other person who deems him too unintelligent to be a leader. Even when Percy seems to draw closer to Rachel, Annabeth has learnt not to give up on those who drift away from her. When Percy believes he will be killed by Kronos, he has learnt to still fight because he--"troubled, useless" Percy--can make a difference. They taught each other this.

They are always unknowingly synchronised, following the same journey of growth and borrowing from each other, the good and the bad. They are each other's fatal flaw and greatest strength.

11 random pjo&hoo headcanons

mostly Will Solace centric cuz I'm hyperfixated on this dork

Will is terrified of birds (which is canon in tsats apparently but idgaf about that book sooo) after he saw vultures attacking a newborn calf on his grandparents' ranch. he didn't know they could do that at the time and was really disturbed by the birds vomiting when they noticed him watching.

literally any song can heal. cue Will bursting into I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters while healing cabin 5 for the umpteenth time.

Jason is a feral wolf boy (it's not really an unpopular opinion but whatever). he bites, barks and growls when sparring. extremely territorial. doesn't like the feeling of a table edge against his forearms so he eats sitting cross-legged on the ground. doesn't like wearing shoes and only started sleeping on a normal bed at 12 when during a particularly cold winter he kept getting sick from sleeping on the barracks' floor and Reyna manhandled his ass to New Rome's furniture store and got him a thin mattress.

Jason needs to be within touching distance of someone at all times. he'd reflexively comb through and braid Reyna and Piper's hair, play with Dakota and Leo's curls, press his forehead against Gwen and Nico's shoulder blades and side hug Bobby and Thalia.

unmasked Will has murder in his eyes. his pacifism is not an innate trait, but his ultimate choice. a very hard one at times, because his brain's first instinct is always "choose violence". his anger issues are even worse than Percy's, although his self-control is better.

on a related note - grandpa Micah taught Will how to shoot a gun when he was 6. his archery skills are nonexistent, but he's the best shot with firearms. he tries to keep it on the down low however, cuz he prefers to give off a non-threatening sunshine vibe to most other campers, but he occasionally works on his shooting during solitary forest patrols and while at home on holiday breaks.

Hazel becomes a hardcore brony the moment she finds out about MLP. her favourite character is Princess Luna. her bunkspace is now full of merch and creepypastas are her new bedtime stories.

Nico doesn't like peanut butter but absolutely loves cottage cheese. Will finds that interesting. Will himself likes both.

Will loves emo music actually. although he will annoy everybody by always picking the silliest country songs during his shifts at the infirmary. he thinks it creates good vibes.

Nico's hair is thick, kinda wavy and hard to manage so he's constantly caught between craving to grow it out really long and impulsively cutting it chin-length. so in last olympian it's down to his shoulders but during Gaea war he sports a short shag again. after settling at camp he can finally grow it out cuz Drew shows him her cabin's secret weapon - conditioner!

everybody in cabin 7 knows italian (just like cabin 10 knows french. and yes, I know it's another popular one), but only to the extent of their music gift. so while Austin is bilingual, Will's innate italian knowledge is lower intermediate at best. although naturally they can only speak and understand it (just like with ancient greek and cabin 10's french) so they still have to study writing.

lots of those are inspired by general fanon as well as many fic writers' personal headcanons, but off the top of my head I can only tell you that the peanut butter one is from iyncbyhim by @yrbeecharmer

So Michael Yew is canonically a ghost.

His body was never found which means he never got a funeral.

In Ancient Greece funerals were kind of a big deal. Greeks didn't hold them just to say goodbye to their loved ones, they believed a funeral was the only way for the dead to get to Hades. No proper burial - no proper afterlife. You're stuck upstairs. Not to mention refusing to bury your dead or waiting too long to do it was extremely disrespectful to the gods. That's why Achilles dragging Hector's corpse around in the Iliad was such a horrifically wrong move on his part. Killing him was righteous revenge but parading his corpse was a terrible insult.

And Michael, the poor lad, never got a proper burial. I guess Rick never thought of the implications of that. He's haunting his siblings as we speak. Maybe Nico can send him down the Bryce Lawrence way though technically this way shouldn't be possible either. Bryce's ghost should have remained upstairs after Nico pulled it out of his body. He should have been required to be buried afterwards. But that's a debate to have some other time.
