those posts criticizing common writing patterns in fanfiction are so fucking harmful and they ruined me

so like yknow what??? People tell you to avoid “smirk” and “chuckle” as descriptors because no one does those things (???) but then when I need to use those words I have a ten minute crisis about how I’m a shitty writer. So heres my unwarranted writing advice: If you want your characters to smirk and chuckle fucking let them and don’t let anyone tell you that no one smirks or chuckles because I do both on a daily basis whenever I tell a shitty pun, bye

Simon: we were climbing up stairs , I told Jace he should go faster and he turned around and pushed me Alec: I was behind Simon when Jace pushed him and fell on me Jace: Magnus pushed me when Alec got buried under Simon. Isabelle: I tried to push Jace, but Magnus had already pushed him so when I leaned down to do it I accidentally fell down. Magnus: She tried to hold me to save herself but ended up draging me down too. Clary: I was at the top of the stairs when all that happened, i saw them and laughed so hard I accidentally fell. Maia: I’m not hurt, I just heard there was free grape juice here.

That last scene in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, where the older Queen Charlotte and the now older and fully Mad King George are lying down with each other, after she's told him their children have finally produced a legitimate heir... the way he holds her hand and says "You didn't go over the wall." The way she looks at him and says "No George, I didn't go over the wall."

The way they laugh/cry and kiss each other. The way the unspoken part is that Charlotte will NEVER go over that wall and abandon him to the demons in his mind. And, if you know their history, the real Charlotte never did abandon him and cared for him till she died. The real George would die two years later.

The First Meet

Derek Hale x Sarah McCall

"You lost your inhaler, Scott?" I scoff as I trudge along the woods with him and Stiles.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I should never have come here." He muttered.

"Damn right, you shouldn't have!" Sarah said and rounded on Stiles, "Investigating murder is your father's job, Stiles. Not yours."

"Relax Sarah, just because we didn't take you doesn't mean you have to be so sour about it," Stiles says casually. I shake my head in dismay.

"Just find the damn inhaler and let's get out of here," I mutter, crunching dry leaves beneath my feet and looking amongst them for Scott's inhaler.

"I don't know what's happening to me, CeeCee," Scott says softly, and I look at him. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that I can smell your perfume from 20 feet away from you, and I can hear you and Stiles from 100 feet away." He explains.

I pause in my tracks and look at him. "What?"

"I swear I'm not lying. I can smell the bubblegum wrap in Stiles's pocket right now." He says. Stiles scoops it out of his pocket and throws it away.

"It was gross." Scott says and Stiles replies, "It was definitely gross."

"Since when has this been happening?" I ask. "Just this morning." Scott says, "There's a new girl in our school right now, and she was talking to someone outside the classroom, and I could hear what they were saying while sitting inside the classroom." He explains.

"Are you hallucinating, Scotty?" I ask worriedly. Dad leaving us had taken a toll on all three of us, and I don't want to see Scott trapped again in that vicious cycle.

"I'm not hallucinating." He sighs. Stiles chimes in, "I know what that means."

"What does that mean?" I ask him.

"He's caught an infection," Stiles says, "A particularly bad one. Only once a month will it trouble him though." Scott doesn't seem to understand but I do. I try my best to not laugh.

Stiles howls and Scott hits him on the arm. "Shut up dude."

After walking for a while, Scott stops both of us and says, "Wait, this is where I had seen the body."

"Well, there isn't any body over here right now," I say.

"The killer must've moved it!" Stiles says. "Well, I hope they didn't take my inhaler. That was for 80 dollars." Scott sighs.

Before I can reply, we hear a voice. "What are you doing here?"

I spin around and come face to face with the handsome Derek Hale. I had been in school with him, but he only hung out with the popular and sporty kids. Since I was neither, I doubt whether he knows I existed or not.

"This is private property." He says, glaring at us. I pass him an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, we're just looking for an inhaler. My brother lost it here somewhere-"

"Here." He throws it at us, not letting me complete my sentence. I have the urge to grab the nearest stone and throw it at him, but I control myself. This is private property after all. Guess Derek didn't grow out of being a jerk, after all.

I don't thank him and look at Scott, who has caught the inhaler. "C'mon Scotty, Stiles, let's go."

"Thank you, for that," Scott says to Derek awkwardly and we start to walk away, I don't spare him a second glance.

"That was Derek Hale, right?" Stiles asks. I nod. "His family was burned alive in the Hale house fire. Stroke of luck that he survived." He says.

"I went to high school with him," I say, looking back but he's gone. "He was a jerk back then, nice to see that he hasn't grown out of that stage."

"Sarah on fire!" Stiles exclaims and laughs.

I tell them that I have the hospital to get to, and we bid each other goodbye. As I unlock the door to my car, I feel someone's presence behind me and I spin around and lose my balance.

Instead of plummeting facefirst to the ground, two strong arms stop me from falling and I find myself encased in Derek Hale's arms. He draws me to his chest and says, "Be careful, Sarah."

I push him and stand two steps away from him. "What are you doing here?" I don't take the liberty to be gentle. He needs to know that having a tragic past doesn't give him a free pass to treat other people like crap.

"You dropped something back there." He says casually and draws out my golden bracelet from his pocket. It wasn't made of gold, just plated by it. It had been Mom's gift to me. I cursed myself for losing it. "I came here to return it." He says, breaking my self-cursing chain of thoughts.

"Well, thank you for that," I say and extend my arm to take it from him. My hand brushes his slightly and he gently holds my wrist and ties the bracelet around it.

I pull my hand back, trying to forget the lingering effect his touch left on me. "Thank you." I clear my throat.

"No problem," He shrugs, "Be careful, Sarah." I look at my car and when I look back, he's gone. He has super speed or what?

I try not to think about him, but I can't help but think about how his fingers had felt on my wrist. And how would his lips feel if they were at the place of his fingers?

I agree with this soo much atp...cuz Damon's looks is all most people are after and they turn a blind eye towards what he did to not only Caroline but also Vicki Donovan, Andie etc. Also, he snapped Jeremy's neck after Elena rejected him.

P.S. Caroline once said, "My mom is a very proud gun owner." Bruh. That same very proud gun owner would have driven a stake through Damon's heart if she would've come to know what he did to her daughter.

If I was Caroline…

Not only would I have chosen Klaus. I have told Klaus and Liz what Damon did to me. It makes no sense to me why Caroline has to be told by the fandom to shut up and stop being judgmental. I don’t think she was being judgmental. I think she was just worried for Elena. She didn’t want her to be taken advantage of by Damon the same way she was. When from Caroline’s point of view when the sirebond was affecting Elena’s choices and state of mind, Elena was acting like Caroline from season one when Damon compelled her to play foot soldier for him. Her every choice revolved around Damon and what HE wanted. She had to cater to his demands. Not the other way around! It was disgusting.

Why has Caroline not told anyone what Damon did to her?! Why is she 'keeping her mouth shut' for the sake of her friends! It’s disgusting! And on top of that, she’s forced to be around him everyday! And if she voices her concerns and frustrations with Damon, she’s brushed off! By her friends and this stupid fandom!

I know that telling Liz and Klaus what Damon did to her will possibly get him killed. And her friends. By Klaus. 😂🤷🏽‍♀️ Say what you want about Klaus but he does love her. It’s bad enough that she married her rapist’s brother and is now family with him. Like, this whole situation is unrealistic as hell.

You fans always say, “why would she date Klaus after what he did to Tyler?” If so. Then why would she marry her rapist’s brother so she can be forever connected to him? Hm? Oh, I know why. Because Caroline is obsessed with the idea of Stefan and the type of boyfriend that he was to Elena. Girl, stop. Wake up and smell the bullshit, Caroline. Stefan is not in love with you. He doesn’t even respect you. 🙄😑

It’s unrealistic that Caroline would even remotely want to be connected to Damon in any sort of way. He raped her and used her as a blood bag! And it’s also unrealistic and out of character for Caroline to keep allowing Stefan to treat her the ways he does. She dropped Tyler because she was sick and tired of waiting around for him. She wanted a boyfriend that was there and he did not fit the part, so she dropped him.

Anyways, it would have been interesting to see Caroline call her friends out and there be some sort of falling out. Because in my personal opinion… Caroline is too good for them. She gives way too much loyalty to the people who are buddy buddy with her rapist.

And don’t give me that crap about Klaus. Klaus is not a rapist. Yes, he did kiss her in Sire Boy’s body and I was giving him the side eye, but he gave her a warning. ‘Wrong time, wrong body’ or something like that. No, I do not believe that Klaus would have taken advantage of Caroline.

Klaus is way too arrogant to take away a woman’s will. He likes the chase. He also likes a woman falling at his feet just to get a taste of him. To take away a woman’s consent in sex is like poison to him, it hurts his pride. Plus, that’s not the way him or his brothers were raised. But not only would it hurt his pride, it would be violating Caroline, which would not sit well with him.

Klaus respects Caroline. Go argue with a wall. My opinion will stay the same. When she asked him to leave for her sake, he did.

But Caroline should have at least told someone! Not sire boy though. 'Cause he’s rarely even there. And he’ll somehow make it about Klaus when Klaus has nothing to do with it.
