If you don't vote, please don't complain about the issues/ winners, etc. The choices are usually not good, but you still have some control. Vote for the "lesser of two evils." Vote for a candidate based on one issue, if you have to. Abortion? LGBTQ+? Environment? Censorship? Don't waste your right to express. Not everyone has it.

PLEASE VOTE. VOTE A STRAIGHT BLUE TICKET. VOTE BIDEN/HARRIS.

You need to vote Democratic in 2020 if you ever want your vote to count in the U.S. again. The Supreme Court’s latest ruling shows GOP intent to steal the 2020 elections and establish ongoing minority rule.

In Sept. 2016, I warned that Trump could win. I wasn’t overreacting then. I’m not overreacting now. We are in real trouble in the U.S.

Short version: the Republican party is openly preparing to steal the 2020 U.S. presidential election through the Supreme Court if it is even remotely close. If their cheating works this year, the United States may never have fair elections again.

The ONLY WAY to stop this now is to vote for Biden in such overwhelming numbers that the election can’t possibly be awarded to Trump. PLEASE vote if you haven’t yet. This isn’t even about who wins anymore: this is about whether you want to continue to live in a democracy or not.

If you can possibly vote in person, do so.

If you can vote safely on Election Day, Nov. 3rd, do so.

If you have to mail in your ballot, mail it NOW, or better yet, drop it off at an official ballot drop box or polling place rather than relying on the overburdened, sabotaged USPS.

If Trump loses, he will sue to throw out mail-in votes, absentee votes, and early votes, because those votes lean Democratic. So if you can vote in person, do– especially if you’re in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, Arizona, or Texas.

Longer explanation: The Supreme Court is now packed with 3 judges who, as lawyers, worked on Bush v. Gore in 2000. These 3 judges were on the legal team that used underhanded tricks to throw out Democratic votes and keep the vote count going until Bush was ahead, then they used more tricks to stop the count at that point. The Supreme Court, then conservative-dominated, ruled to give Bush the presidency.

If all the ballots had been counted and held to the same standards, Gore would have won.

Trump has openly stated that he wants Amy Coney Barrett on the Court in time for the election: if he doesn’t win the election, he intends to sue to have votes thrown out until he wins.

Republicans have (receipts in links):

Deliberately sabotaged the US Postal Service to make voting by mail unreliable during the pandemic.

Limited ballot drop boxes to 1 per county in Texas, so that in some counties, millions of voters only had 1 drop box to take their ballots.

Put out fake ballot drop boxes to collect ballots illegally.

Sued to prevent election officials from counting mail-in or absentee votes that arrive after November 3rd.

Fought to allow untrained election officials to throw out mail-in ballots if they don’t think the signatures match the voters’ official signature, which might have been recorded decades before.

On the Supreme Court, the conservatives wrote that state courts don’t have jurisdiction over their elections, in a clear signal that if the election is close, SCOTUS intends to intervene and overrule the states to the benefit of the GOP.

The only way to secure the right to fair elections in the future is to vote Democratic in overwhelming numbers now so that 2020 can’t be stolen. Then we’ll have to keep pushing Democrats to balance the courts and fix the electoral systems to reclaim democracy in the U.S. But first, we have to get the GOP out of power, or they will institutionalize permanent minority rule.

VOTE.

"Why did we vote if it accomplished nothing?"

Biden's win and the razor-thin 50-50 Senate have protected us already from a 7-2 conservative court. He has appointed a cabinet that is diverse and liberal, committed to our lands, indigenous rights, public transport, expanding healthcare access, and now protecting the right to abortion and privacy. If Biden had not won, this situation would be much worse. So yes, your vote accomplished something.

If Hillary had won the Electoral College in 2016, we would be looking at a liberal 5-4 court or even a liberal 6-3 court. At a minimum, we'd be in a much more enviable position, at maximum, many of the goals we're fighting for would already be in-progress or signed into law.

Voting accomplishes a lot.

Ask the millions of Americans that have benefited from the Affordable Care Act. Or, if you want a heavy dose of reality, ask the "pro-life" Republicans who have shown up year after year when you haven't.

Maybe you’re young, and you think this doesn’t affect you. But, it will affect your parents, or your grandparents.   And, remember, if Republicans kill these programs, the dollars you pay in – that are/have been withheld from your paycheck – you will never get back.

I have written 78 postcards so far to Ohio voters encouraging them to vote NO on Issue 1, as part of the Postcards to Voters campaign. And I'm signed up for another 6 this weekend. My best wishes and pen are with the Ohio voters defeating this attempt to screw the rules so abortion rights can't be protected.

🚨 OHIO VOTERS 🚨

on Aug. 8th 2023 there will be a special election! This is a special election to change the definition of what constitutes a majority vote in Ohio.

If Issue 1 passes it will change the definition of a majority vote from simple majority (highest number of votes wins even if its just barely over 50%) to a 60% vote to constitute a majority.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THIS ISSUE DOES NOT PASS for at least two reasons. 1) it is unconstitutional. Majority has meant simple majority for a century and it is equal and fair. 2) This November election there will be a vote to amend the Ohio constitution to add the right to abortion. If Issue 1 passes this August then it will be much more difficult to pass the November abortion amendment.

VOTE NO ON ISSUE 1

I'm late making this post. If you are not registered to vote, you will miss this Aug. election. PLEASE get out and vote by Aug. 8th if you can and if you are not registered to vote, consider registering to support the November issue!

Also, please consider reblogging even if you are not in Ohio. More reblogs means more eyes on the post!

Thank you!

In economics we divide the population into income quintiles -- top 20%, bottom 20%, etc

The Biden Economy has been very, very good to the bottom 20% -- I know because I am in that quintile and under the Biden Presidency I have seen multiple SNAP increases, the best COLA adjustments for Social Security in four decades, Medicare now pays my utilities, and because I'm part of the Affordable Connectivity Program, they can now never turn off my internet even if I can't afford to pay the bill.

The problem with the poorest people being the one who benefits the most? Is that it doesn't resonate as a media story. The media is not catering to that bottom quintile -- we don't have the expendable income their advertisers are seeking.

But if you want to elect a POTUS who is honestly helping the people who need it the most, you should be an enthusiastic Biden supporter. It won't make splashy news headlines, you're not even going to find MSNBC going GUESS WHAT THE POORS ARE DOING BETTER all the time because it's really not a sexy story. But it's a real story. A true story.

I'm just really sick of the pseudo-leftist takes that characterize Biden and the Democrats as 'conservative' or assertions that they don't have policy platforms except 'we're not the Republicans.' Such commentary sounds intelligent but only in the way Libertarian commentary sounds intelligent: you have to not think critically at all to some to such absurd conclusions. Democrats are working within a broken system and doing the best they can. You wanna fix the system? Great, I'm onboard, but smearing the only people trying to help is not going to get you anywhere.

If you are a voter in Georgia, please check your registration consistently as the election approaches.

The Secretary of State has launched a program that allows people to cancel registrations. Including other people's registrations. They can do so with only your name, date of birth, and county.

In Georgia, you have until 29 days before the election to register or re-register if you were purged.

even if you're resigned that trump is going to win, 1/3 of the country lives in states with competitive senate elections. if democrats win the senate, there is very little that trump can do (can't even appoint supreme court nominees)

the following states all have competitive senate elections:

arizona

florida

maryland

michigan

montana

nevada

ohio

pennsylvania

texas

wisconsin

even if you don't think your state is competitive at all, THESE SENATE RACES STILL ARE, SO IF YOU LIVE IN ONE OF THESE STATES, MAKE SURE TO VOTE

and even if you don't live in one of those states, you could live in a competitive house seat. if democrats win the house, then trump can't pass any bills

and even if you don't live in a competitive state or district, your local elections matter even more than federal ones because they have a much more direct impact on your life

so VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE

I Was Going To Keep Her Design A Surprise For A Special Easter Drawing I Was Planning, But I'm Too Indecisive!
I Was Going To Keep Her Design A Surprise For A Special Easter Drawing I Was Planning, But I'm Too Indecisive!

I was going to keep her design a surprise for a special Easter drawing I was planning, but I'm too indecisive!

So here is Billie Bunny, she is the neighborhood magician! She was the "coming soon" character I mentioned in another post. I had created her a while ago, but I kept changing my mind on her design. The one on the right is Billies first design idea, and the one on the left is the newer design idea I had.

(I realized I forgot to draw her toe beans on the right design, oops 😅)
