my favorite headcannon is that dally is an honorary older brother to ponyboy. just the way he saw mrs. curtis as a mother figure and even took care of pony after his parents' death- he loves that kid and his family.

e.g.

inviting pony to hang out with him after soda told pony he wasn't allowed to hangout with him and steve ("little kids are allowed")

choosing to hang out at the movies after pony was just jumped for going to the movies alone

getting pony food without having to ask if he wanted anything (and theoretically paying for it...)

asking pony if he was freezing and giving him his leather jacket (also lecturing him saying he was going to get pneumonia)

making sure he was safe (risking his own life to get pony out of the church, putting out the fire on his arm, and then lecturing him again at the hospital)

honorary mentions from deleted scenes

asked pony how his milkshake was, and when pony complained, dally tested it out and complained to the worker

told pony to be a good boy after harassing people with paper straw wrappers, and pony replied, "yes, pops 😔"

pony is the youngest and he doesn't always make the best decisions. since soda and darry can't always be there to watch him, dally naturally takes on the older brother role when he's around pony. though he doesn't do it most kindly, the intention is there.

some silly little headcanons i have specifically for my au of the outsiders that i felt the need to write down all in one place.

after their parents died, darry made a deal with the state that he could keep his brothers as long as they're able to support themselves

so darry got three jobs, roofer, contractor, and uh...yk what.

two-bit who was almost 18 started working at a grocery store cause i said so

dally managed to get a job as a bartender at bucks

and ofc soda and steve work at the dx

johnny and pony don't have jobs yet cause the others don't want them to because they're "too young"

(when really they're 14 and 15 and are in fact old enough)

when everyone else is at work, johnny and pony stay home and watch movies. like binge watch.

they once thought they could handle horror movies.

they couldnt.

they were latching on to darry when he got home.

dinner at their house is chaotic.

they're yapping over each other and darry's trying to get them to settle down so that people don't report a noise complaint on them.

how to bribe the curtises?

not money.

not gold.

these big backs only listen when there's dessert involved.

even after a 12 course meal, if they're hungry in the middle of the night and sneak out to the kitchen, there will most likely already be someone there

steve and soda used to share a room.

they would stay up all night giggling and shi

same thing with pony and johnny.

so steve and pony swapped rooms.

darry regrets it cause now soda and pony cant stop giggling, but he can't stop it so he just gave up

so therefore dally and two bit share a room.

dally isn't thrilled

two bit yaps

dally needs sleep or he'll be grumpy in the morning

but two-bit contradicts him saying that dally is gonna be grumpy either way.

and then dally comes at him about still living in the house as an adult and then teases him for his lack of ability to pull

dally would try to find a way to get darry to let him sleep in his room if darry weren't such a heavy snorer

(dally snores too)

(but he refuses to accept it)

darrys the type to need his morning coffee before speaking to anyone

dal just doesnt want to speak to anyone

ponys a night owl.

they'll tell him to go to sleep and pony will be like "just one more chapter"

but he keeps reading and suddenly the birds are chirping

johnny tried to protest this once back when they shared a room

to say he'll stay awake too unless pony goes to sleep

he fails and ends up falling asleep.

pony gives him a pat on the head and continues to stay awake until the sun shined through the window.

pony then proceeds to sleep the day away

You know... Ponyboy describes Johnny as the pet of the gang, everyone's kid brother... But I don't see that when Johnny and Johnny interact, in fact, I almost see it as the other way around. Specifically when they are at the church, and Johnny had just told Ponyboy to shut up about the night before.

Johnny stops crying as Ponyboy starts (or Pony starts after Johnny stops, both have major meanings), and Johnny says (and im quoting); " "This is my fault," Johnny said in a miserable voice. He had stopped crying when I started. "For bringin' a little thirteen-year-old kid along. You ought to go home. You can't get into trouble. You didn't kill him." "

Though that may be isn't the best example, I can see exactly when there's a small shift from "Johnny's everyone's kid brother" to maybe, Johnny is everyone but Pony's kid brother.

Another example (to me at least) was just before the above quote.

"I didn't mean to," he finally blurted out, "but they were drownin' you, and I was so scared..."

I had a headcanon in regards to Bob from The Outsiders, but I don't remember it which sucks, because I remember really liking it? But I don't remember what caused me to have it and I didn't write it down 😭

If I remember, definitely either editing or reblogging this with the headcanon.

Headcanons for Marcia

I sorta imagine her a bit like Two-Bit; she's funny, she cracks jokes, and she has a more mirror personality. However you treat her she'll treat you. Crack jokes with her and she'll crack jokes with you. I get the impression that she keeps everything light in the group (assuming that Cherry, Marcia, Bob, and Randy all hang out regularly together and with other Socs).

Its mentioned in the book that she barrel races as well, though I don't know much about that. And she's also really perceptive!

"Thanks," Cherry said, and the other girl, who was named Marcia, said, "How come we don't see your brother at school? He's not any older than sixteen or seventeen, is he?"

Also, I like to imagine her last name as like... McCarty or Summers or Evans or something really unique but not entirely well known. Either something really common or just completely unique.

I believe that she also really Liked Two-Bit, or at the very least wanted to get to know him. This one I just really like because I loved their back and forth banter at the drive in.

I also don't believe that she likes alcohol, like, at all. And she loves to read when she's alone, or, if shes not reading, she really likes art and she carries a sketchbook in her school bag for when she's bored.

Also, I read the Wiki on her just so I didn't get any information wrong (cause rn it's too dark to read much in my room), and I believe that she definitely capitalizes on a lot of opportunities offered to her. Like with the coke from Dally.

And also, reading the wiki mentions that she spotted Bob's car first, and was relieved when it went past them. And she gave Randy a cold stare but said nothing to him. It ties in that I believe she's really perceptive and I saw someone else say that her and Randy might not have liked each other romantically and they were only dating to spend more time with Cherry and Bob respectively.

Believe she also knows at least one other language, or learning another language actively, and she wears glasses. Maybe she doesn't need them all the time, or on some nights out she just doesn't bring them.

Also, she gives me the feeling that her birthday is like, in May, end of May almost. Maybe the 23?

Definitely also really flirty, even if it goes nowhere. Especially flirty with her friends too.

I really do think she gave Two-Bit her real number though, and was disappointed when he didn't call.

Sorry if some of these are bad, I base a lot of headcanons off of canon or at least I find reason for them from canon. Unless it's just something that wouldn't come up in canon.

Marcia M. Marcia- A SOC girl with shorter black hair. She is best friends with Cherry and is not seen outside of the drive-in scene. She is very witty and has a flirtatious conversation with Two-Bit Mathews. Many have begun to ship them. She doesn't have a set last name nor really a visible personality.

You know, I have the feeling that Two-Bit would have said that he didn't believe the gang 'couldn't loose so and so, anyone but them,' had it been them in Johnny's place.

Currently writing a Time Loop fic, and I have the distinct impression that Two-Bit would have said that regardless of it being Ponyboy, Johnny, or Dally.

Outsiders Headcanon

Most of these are set in a modern au, but musical headcanons from someone who's never seen a musical but loves the sound tracks of em.

I have a strong headcanon that Ponyboy would be into musicals, not wanting to be in them, but definitely the songs and stories behind them.

Sodapop teases him slightly but he also loves the songs. Darry doesn't understand either of them, but I think that's more so because he's to busy and to tired to try have either explain it to him.

Steve teases Ponyboy about it nearly relentlessly before learning that Sodapop also loves the songs, and will often dance around his room listening to em. After learning that, he'll mix in Sodapop's favorite musical soundtracks to his work playlist (which I headcanon he loves rock music) so he can see Sodapop just visibly brighten up when one comes on.

Two-Bit doesn't really care for musical soundtracks but he won't ask anyone to change em if they come on. He even likes quiet a few of them, even if he doesn't like musicals.

Dally will make faces but won't say anything because Johnny also loves musicals and their soundtracks. Like, Johnny and Ponyboy have specific favorites and can and will sing them from memory. Entirely. And Ponyboy can sing Johnny's ultimate favorite from his favorite musical and vice versa. Dally makes fun of both of them but in the "I'm the only one that can make fun of this". He also has a favorite but refuses to tell anyone. Maybe Dally's favorite is Beetlejuice.

(mainly because op here has listened to very little musicals, mainly the outsiders music, one or two songs from heathers(?), and Beetlejuice, and EPIC).

Headcanons i came up with while in Tumblr jail

All of these will be mainly set after the book, but Johnny and Dally live! Also, also, there's hints and pushes towards Steve/Sodapop and Ponyboy/Johnny but its not explicitly said (but heavily implied).

Johnny moved in with the Curtis' after he was released from the hospital and any and all charges against him were dropped.

No one knows how or why the charges were dropped but they are thankful for it regardless. It was Cherry and Marcia's doing, but the two girls don't tell anyone. Two-Bit suspects, and only thanks Marcia (when they meet up after the whole phone number debacle, which only happens because Ponyboy snf Cherry sorted them out)

He and Ponyboy started sharing a room, letting Sodapop move back to his own, though it left him lonely at night because he was so used to cuddling with someone at night (Steve usually joins him to leave the couch for Dally should be need it).

Steve and Ponyboy both wear glasses

They also both don't wear their glasses cause they think the other will make fun of them and don't know the other also wears them.

Sodapop is confused on why neither of them wear glasses because he was with them both when they got theirs (at separate times, obviously)

Johnny thinks Pony's glasses are cute on him, and he'll occasionally put them on Ponyboy when he isn't really paying attention (like when they're in their room reading).

Sodapop also thinks Steve looks cute in his glasses. Steve hates that thought outwardly, it secretly loves it. Sodapop knows that.

Neither find out about the others glasses until, like, Thanksgiving the year they get them (like maybe four months after Steve gets his, which would be seven after pony gets his). Both are outraged and confused on why they are outraged.

Curtis' Gangs favorite holidays

Ponyboy's is either Halloween or Christmas

Ponyboy loves drawing his friends, and every Halloween and Christmas he gives them a drawing of them self.

Halloween is for when Ponyboy takes the time to draw everyone as 'monsters' or everyone in Halloween costumes, even if they didn't dress up that year. He doesn't really go out after the church and fire and stuff because he would feel terrible leaving Johnny behind, so they cuddle on the couch with Johnny's chair nearby while Ponyboy draws.

Christmas is for when Ponyboy thought they looked happiest that year, with either the story of what was going on or why he thought it was when they looked happiest. That and Johnny spends more nights at the Curtis' house, at least before the church and everything that happened. Now though, Johnny practically lives at the Curtis house and is honestly much happier which makes Ponyboy happier, and it raises the gangs spirits that Johnny never had to see his "parents" again, especially for the first Christmas after when it hit everyone about the year they'd had

Sodapop's is Christmas

Sodapop absolutely adores Christmas, because it's cold outside, there's eventually gift giving, and he gets to snuggle up with either his brothers or with Steve. And it means Darry's home a bit more because there's not really much roofing to be done with how cold it gets, which Sodapop loves (he loves his family at home, thank you very much)

He also is 'crazy' because he loves the cold. Ponyboy thinks he's crazy, but that's because Ponyboy freezes easier. Sodapop's a walking furnace though, not that Steve's complaining.

Darry's is Thanksgiving

Darry loves Thanksgiving because it gives him an excuse to cook loads (I headcanon him to be an excellent cook) and feed the gang loads. They have left overs for at least a week, week and a half of they pushed it, and he uses that to feed the gang in many different ways (there's only so many times you can eat something before you're sick of it, and Darry knows this so he gets to be creative)

Darry also cooks something special on Halloween because most of the gang loves the holiday and he wants them to be able to celebrate it and he likes being able to feed them.

Two-Bit's is Halloween

I've seen in many other people's headcanons that he loves to scare little kids at Halloween, or just scare people in general and I love that.

He and Dally team up every Halloween to scare people, including the adults. It makes the both of them cackle and when they get to the Curtis house, both with candy for Ponyboy and Johnny that they nabbed from the store, they have stories to tell that'll get Johnny and Ponyboy both laughing.

Two-bit also treasures every drawing Ponyboy draws and gives him. He saw Ponyboy after the fire and the hospitals and the rumble and while he was sick, and he knew just jow close theys come to losing Johnny and Pony and holds onto them and their 'innocence' that they still have left.

Dally claims he doesn't have Halloween (it's Halloween)

Dally tries to play off like he's Tough and doesn't have a favorite holiday, but it's absolutely Halloween. He loves scaring the kids (it's easy) and he loves the challenge of scaring the adults with Two-bit.

He also steals candy for Johnny (after the fire) and he and two-bit, after their fun is over, chill at the Curtis house until Sodapop and Steve gets back from either a work related Halloween event, or from wherever the two made off too to trick or treat (if they manage to trick people into it

Steve also claims he doesn't have one (he actually doesn't have one but he loves seeing Sodapop's reaction to Christmas)

I couldn't really think of anything to put here, but I think Steve gets a tattoo to remind him of Sodapop, it's a sunflower. Turns out, the same week Sodapop also got a sunflower tattoo, but neither knew the other got one until Christmas Eve. Steve's is near the crook of his elbow on his right arm, and Sodapop's is sorta near where Steve's bird(eagle outline?) tattoo is but on he left arm. They both cry, and then laugh.

Johnny's is Halloween but he also really enjoys Christmas

Johnny loves Halloween for the costumes and free candy. Even though he doesn't go out for them anymore. He would much rather sit with Ponyboy as he draws, or reads. He usually falls asleep early that night.

He loves Christmas because he doesn't really have to leave the Curtis house unless it's for school, and even then, he has the option of just asking Ponyboy to get his homework for him, though he does try stick it out most days. Also, he always has someone there to help him, because Ponyboy rarely leaves his side for long, and even if he does, Two-Bit's there or Steve is or Dally is at the very least.

Darry also let's him help with baking during the Christmas holiday, it's his favorite part

The gangs Love Language(s)

Steve and Two-bit trying to pick up someone would be so funny (This somehow turned into headcannons oops) Requested(?)

Let me set the scene:

Two-bit and Steve are at the drive-in or whatever, drunk outta their minds with a beer or two in hand, and they decide to try and pick up a few women for the night

We all know Two-bit would be cracking the most foul jokes known to man

Remember the scene in the movie where he flips up that one girl's skirt? Yeah, he'd do that

If he was actually trying and not being a jerk, he'd try to make you laugh with his weird, scatterbrained humor, or offer to get you a Coke or something

If he succeeded in making you fall for him, we all know he'd be bragging about it to the gang

"Last night, I scored this real pretty person at the drive-in. They're totally in love with me now - even gave me their number"

He'd totally steal things for you

Maybe even admit he stole them

Steve on the other hand would probably try and impress you with the way he can work on cars or something

He'd probably yap to you, really

Probably would still crack some jokes, not as foul as Two-Bit's, though

He'd definitely brag about it too - mostly to Soda

"Hey Soda, I picked up this person last night - I'm plannin' on taking them out on a date this weekend"

Steve would try his best to make a good impression on the first date too

He'd want to definitely make sure Soda liked you if you actually started officially dating

Might take you out to the Dingo or something

Two-Bit x reader headcannons!!

Summary: Headcannons of Two-Bit and Reader dating, how you first met, blablabla

Requested? nope

He tried to hit on you at the drive-in when he was drunk

Didn't go too well because he was drunk asf and was making the most foul jokes known to man

he tried to make you laugh, also offered to buy you something there (popcorn or a coke)

He did manage to get your number though

After that, he was bragging and yapping about you to the gang

"They're so pretty" "You've said this multiple times, Two-Bit, we get it" "Shut up and let me talk about them"

Might even like you just as much as he does Mickey Mouse

When you two actually started going out, he introduced you to the gang finally

"So this is the person you've yapped about non-stop for the past month"

The gang can tell you make him happy, so they're cool with it

After a while, he introduced you to his mom and his sister

He wanted to make sure his family approved of you

You can't deny that he bought you something Mickey or Minnie Mouse related

He'll take you out on dates whenever he can

He'll also convince you to watch Mickey Mouse with him as a date

Safe to say this man loves you very much

Why is writing headcannons so fun lmao

I'm debating on making more, but I have zero ideas on who to write for😭

You know how in the book, it says that during the rumble when Ponyboy got the concussion from a Soc kicking him in the head and that when Soda saw, he 'landed all over that Soc', he got so mad that Darry even said he's never seen Soda that angry

Imagine him doing that for you? Like, imagine Socs are beating the crap out of you for whatever reason, either it be in a rumble or they wanna jump you for shits and giggles

And Soda sees this and he just like Sees red Y'know?

I think he'd hurt the Socs so bad it'd be a borderline hospital visit

I dont know

Maybe I'm just being cringey and whatever because I love The Outsiders, but yeah

More Random Thoughts

Just imagine how Soda would react seeing you asleep with his flannel draped over you

Just can imagine him coming home from working at the DX and seeing you either crashed out on the couch or in his bed

You'd fallen asleep and either had decided to put his flannel over yourself when you got tired because you found it comforting or were too lazy and tired to get a proper blanket Because, y'know, when you get up to do something when you're on the verge of nodding off your body wakes up again and you won't be able to fall asleep or feel that nice, lazy drowsiness in your mind like a fog

anywho,

First thing he'd notice would be that you've got his flannel draped over your torso

Man would swoon Fall in love with you all over again

When you wake up, he'd probably cuddle up to you after your nap and mumble something about how he found it so cute that his s/o had his flannel over themself when they slept

"You were so cute like that, baby. . . You look good with my flannel, hm?"

Y'know?

Then he might try and lull you back to sleep if you were still tired

but if not, he won't mind

just let him cuddle with you for a few minutes and he'll let you get up and putter around the house or get a drink or a snack

Whatever you wanted to do

Just know that he'd want and hope you'd do it more often because damn, he loved seeing something so wholesome after a long day at work

-Dally and you met at the drive-in -You refused to talk to him because of his reputation -But he wouldn’t leave you alone -Instead of arguing anymore you agreed to go on a date with him -You made him promise no one would know and it would be out of town -He took a couple towns over for milkshakes and a movie -You discovered that he was actually kind of sweet -You went on another date -And then another -All were somewhere just the two of you -He was arrested the night before your fourth date -You were surprised at how upset that made you -He was out a week later and you were there waiting for him -He took you to Buck’s to talk -He asked you to be steady with him -You made him promise no one would know -You didn’t want people judging you because of Dally’s reputation -He hid the fact that that hurt him and agreed -He wanted to be with you no matter what the conditions were -You both managed to keep it a secret for a couple of months -Until the next time he got arrested -The other guys had started to be suspicious that Dally had a girl -Ponyboy had seen you two at the movies one night -So when Dally was arrested they all came to ask you about it -You lied easily but they saw it in your face -They didn’t pressure you but they asked if you wanted to hang out with them that night -You found yourself accepting the offer -You started hanging out with them everyday -They talked highly of Dally despite his reputation -They really liked having you around -You started becoming friends with them -And their girlfriends started inviting you with them -Dally was out ninety days later -He was shocked when he found you with the gang -You gave him a big kiss in front of them -He was so surprised when you pulled away that he said the first thing that came to his mind -It was ‘I love you’ -You said it back and promised no more secrets

- Steve's father makes fun of him for his teeth almost constantly, and Steve smiles with his mouth closed now.
