You wandering and winsome little soul, The body's guest and its companion too, Into what places now will you depart? You pale and stiff and naked little thing, You won't make jokes the way you're wont to do. Animula vagula blandula Hospes comesque corporis Quae nunc abibis in loca? Pallidula rigida nudula Nec ut soles dabis iocos. --The dying poem of the Roman emperor Hadrian, cited in the "Vita Hadriani" of the Historia Augusta

Theodor Kittelsen - The Plague is Coming (1896)
A Song on the end of the World
On the day the world ends
A bee circles a clover,
A fisherman mends a glimmering net.
Happy porpoises jump in the sea,
By the rainspout young sparrows are playing
And the snake is gold-skinned as it should always be.
On the day the world ends
Women walk through the fields under their umbrellas,
A drunkard grows sleepy at the edge of a lawn,
Vegetable peddlers shout in the street
And a yellow-sailed boat comes nearer the island,
The voice of a violin lasts in the air
And leads into a starry night.
And those who expected lightning and thunder
Are disappointed.
And those who expected signs and archangels’ trumps
Do not believe it is happening now.
As long as the sun and the moon are above,
As long as the bumblebee visits a rose,
As long as rosy infants are born
No one believes it is happening now.
Only a white-haired old man, who would be a prophet
Yet is not a prophet, for he’s much too busy,
Repeats while he binds his tomatoes:
There will be no other end of the world,
There will be no other end of the world.

this is exactly what i see when listening to this. it's like the chorus parallels what the majority see when they contrast death against life. but!! the narrator won't have an end because death can't keep him from his love, his home. like he says 'heaven and hell were words to me'. and as such, when it comes to the end of his time, it is not the end of all life, but rather an eerie life still growing green.

when my time comes around, lay me gently in the cold dark earth

no grave can hold my body down, i'll crawl home to her

this is one of those things that once you hear it, your world is just changed.
I want it back = I drag its dead weight forward

“Death blowing bubbles,” 18th century. The bubbles symbolize life’s fragility. This plaster work appears on the ceiling of Holy Grave Chapel in Michaelsberg Abbey, Bamberg, Germany. (+)
i thought you were crying wolf, but you weren't. who am i to be so sceptical of your cries? dilapidated by my hands, your life was terminated by my faithlessness in you. is forgiveness something the insentient can give? but how am i to be deserving when i heard your cries so irreverently.

will possibly add links to fandoms and reads... not sure yet. it would be good to have an active list of all the books i read and enjoyed enough to keep a list of…. here’s a short list of fandomesque things tho: sherlock, rwby, bts/kpop, d20, sk8 the infinity, good omens, epic the musical, lore olympus webtoon, loki series, fnaf,
books would include: archives of despair by caleb finn, hamlet, good omens, throne of glass series, embassy row series, the song of achilles by madeline miller, they both die at the end duology, the inheritance games series, shadow and bone+six of crows, everything by alice oseman
music as well perhaps? hozier, bts, ericdoa, noah kahan, glaive, cage the elephant, lizzy mcalpine, cave town, mccafferty, chase atlantic, brakence, eden, the front bottoms, (it’s all over the place… just not much country music tbh)

here’s the old intro post, haven't decided what to do with it yet
