this has been on my mind all night, SO here the deal. Mei has been dating the reader for a while now but the thing is since Mei is a dragon descendant, why not make the reader be a phoenix. With wings and I read somewhere that phoenix are always seen together with a dragon in many myth. I just think that would be romantic af. It can be a scenario or oneshot if you want.

You and Mei weren't the type of couple to get into fights. With each other, I mean. With demons that try to rob your awesome dragon girlfriend of her sick sword? Absolutely!

"You really wanna take the back alleys to get back from the movies tonight? You're nuts." You walked alongside Mei, holding one of her hands and swinging it as you moved along. She laughed, putting her phone in her pocket.

"We'll be fine! And hey, if anything goes wrong, we've got Old Reliable!"

"You named the sword?"

"I mean...I could name my sword! Anyways, what street are we on now?"

She looked around, presumably for landmarks. The area you two were in now was dank, and reeked of cigarette smoke and trash. Truthfully, you had no idea why she wouldn't just get her motorcycle.

"We aren't lost, right?"

"Of course not. Once I know where we are, it'll be smooth sailing," she paused, looking behind her. "Did you hear that?"

You listened for a minute. There it was--whispering, along with muffled footsteps. You looked her in the eyes.

"What should we do?" you whispered at her, not trying to attract any attention.

"SHOW YOURSELVES, COWARDS! WE AREN'T AFRAID OF YOU!" She yelled. Your eyes darted around the space, trying to see movement even though it was dark.

"Not afraid, huh? We can deal with that." a gruff voice approached. behind it came the sound of heavy boots. The figures stepped into what little light there was and revealed themselves. One of them, shorter than the other, had horns that curled around its head similar to a ram. It was wearing a leather jacket with spikes on it. The taller one, a woman, had dark eyes and a knife in her hands. You held onto the sleeve of Mei's jacket in a panic.

"We're not looking for trouble." You said, trying to urge your girlfriend to agree. However, she stood her ground.

"But if trouble comes looking for us..." she brandished her blade. The demons looked at each other, then at the sword.

"Listen, princess, just hand over that sword of yours, and no one gets hurt." the woman got into a defensive stance, with the other demon following suit. If Mei was going to fight, you might as well back her up. You dropped the glamour that made you look human to reveal your scarlet and orange feathers that lined your arms, face, and legs. Burning hot with the fire in your veins.

"Uh...did we prepare for that part?"

"maybe not."

But they ran at you two anyways, and while the woman tried to bring a knife to a sword fight, you took to trying to punch the other one as hard as you could. It blocked your blows surprisingly well, however its aim in trying to hit you was far from good. It tried to grab your arms, however recoiled with a yelp when it felt how hot you were. Taking advantage of this moment, you pressed both your arms to its side. It doubled over in pain, and you then knocked it out with your fists.

In the meantime, Mei was fighting and winning against the woman and her knife. In the light, you could see that there was something on the knife, some kind of liquid. It was almost glow in the dark.

"Mei! There's something on the knife!" You ran at the woman from the side. tackling her, she tried to cut you.

"What is it?!" Mei asked, pulling you toward her as the woman nearly sliced your arm.

"I don't know, but I think we should get out of here!" You stumbled to start running while the woman was still down. Mei followed behind you, and there was a chase as you weaved through the maze of the city. Finally, you came to a dead end. Turning around, you set yourself aflame and leapt in front of your girlfriend to catch the woman.

This demon woman wasn't exactly weak. She struggled in your grip immensely until Mei unleashed her dragon as she helped you to fling her off into the sky. You both watched her disappear and caught your breaths.

"That was the most exciting movie date we've ever been on!" she cheered, hugging you and giving you a kiss on the cheek. You blushed, returning to your human form. Thank goodness you two were fireproof.

"That's one way to put it."

Maybe the reader comforting Mei with the samadhi fire accident. They alway tell her that it's going to be fine and that they are never going to hate her for it. PLEASE MY GIRL JUST NEED A HUG- this shit has traumatise me.😔😔

Finally, the smoke cleared. You coughed, waving one of your hands to move the smoke away from your face. In the middle of the area, you saw her. Mei, with her clothes torn at the edges and her hair no longer in the fun buns you loved to see. Tears were running down her face and she was looking at her hands.

You ran over to her, sliding on the ground and embracing her. In an instant she was grasping onto you, sobbing into your shoulder as you tried your best to console her.

“I’m so sorry. Y/N, I’m so sorry!” She cried. You felt her take heaving breaths.

“Mei, I’m here for you, okay? You have nothing to be sorry for.” You were tearing up too, since you’d never seen that side of her. Glowing red, eyes just white dots, voice made up entirely of rage.

“But I almost hurt you! I almost hurt all my friends!” She pulled away, looking you in the eyes. You retrieved a napkin from your coat’s pocket and wiped her tears. Her face was warm, and in the cold that surrounded the area, it was comforting.

“But you didn’t. We’re fine. MK’s in tact, I’m in tact,” you gestured to yourself, showing her that the only “damage” to your person was just some ash that happened to land on the front of your coat. “Don’t beat yourself up for this, alright?”

“I didn’t know that was in me all along…and he didn’t tell us…” her shoulders hunched forward, but you knew she was referring to the Monkey King. You weren’t quite sure what to tell her. Admittedly, you were mad at him too along with Mr. Tang for starting the ritual. What if things had gone wrong, and someone got really hurt? What if Mei got hurt? 

You ran your fingers through her hair, letting her cry it out. Getting into all this demon business wasn’t pretty. For goodness sake, it was only about a year ago that you two were at the arcade with not a care in the world! 

“Mei,” you cupped her face in your hands “you’re one of the strongest girls I know. If you learn to control the fire…”

“I can be a hero?”

“Yes, but you’ll also be able to make s’mores on the go.” You cracked a joke to lighten the mood, and to your relief, it worked. She gave you a playful shove and snickered.

“That’s genius.” She smiled, her voice still wobbling.

“Now come on. We’ve got a ghost to beat the shit out of.” 

You got up and dusted yourselves off, before hugging again and sharing a sweet kiss. When she pulled away, she held your hands in hers and gave them a squeeze.

“Let’s get this bitch.”

REDSON has seen every level of hell with her mother over the years. They’re gonna treat you like a the QUEEN YOU ARE(/pos). They check up on you as often as he can, respecting if you want space of course. He heats up her hands enough that when you have cramps it’s like a heating pad. Doesn’t care how “gross” you think you are, they hype you up and try their best to make you feel good about yourself. Will also try to write down the type of supplies you prefer so she can get them when you need them. Tones down her yelling, much more loose and focused less on machines or anything so that she can focus on you and your needs. ”don’t worry, beloved, this will pass! Stay strong, like I know you are, alright?!”

MK is about as sweet as it gets. He’s been friends with Mei since forever, and he has a loose understanding of what goes on and how painful it is. They try to be at your every beck and call, and if he can’t be with you when you’re super in pain, they make up for it with whatever food or drink you want. Has a pretty nice heated blanket that he folds up into a heating pad for you. KING of cuddles—they will let you pick the position you want him in so you’re at the UTMOST comfort. Compliments you a lot! His little heart breaks whenever you’re feeling down, so please expect them to try just about anything to get you to smile again! ”it’s okay if you feel like crud, babe! I’m here for you no matter what!”

MEI knows exactly how you feel. So, when there’s a Disturbance(tm) she shows up with movies, blankets, snacks, face masks, and supplies. Memorizes what size of supply you wear so you don’t get stuck with something uncomfy. If she has intense control over her fire, she will warm up her hands similar to how Redson would. Otherwise she’ll find you the best heating pad that she can. Lets you pick the food, obviously, but makes her own recommendations as well in case you’re interested. She doesn’t force you to do anything crazy on a day when you’re feeling super uncomfortable, but on days when things are manageable, she encourages you to get some fresh air with her. Offers up lots of affection, but backs off if you really need the space. “Here, I brought you some chocolate! It’s sweet, like you.”

Redson - honestly prioritizes personality over anything else. He’s a demon, they literally come in every shape and size! He thinks you’re perfect, and you’ll have to try and hold him back if someone tries to make fun of you. ALSO, would definitely get fancy clothes in your favorite styles and colors TAILORED so they fit you perfectly!! Bc it’s what you deserve!!

Mei - uses you as a pillow a lot. You’re so nice and warm and soft, how could she not?? If you’re ever having a day where you’re not feeling super confident, she will HYPE YOU UP. Your biggest cheerleader 1000%! Since she’s canonically a streamer I could totally see her gushing about how gorgeous you are to her chat, and then when they see you for the first time, they lose their minds because she was so right

MK - he doesn’t care how your body looks, he thinks you’re the most good-looking being to grace this earth! Because of his powers he can definitely lift you up at any given moment, so be prepared for that! Probably really loves cuddling up with you when you sleep over with him. Also draws you a lot cause he thinks you’re that good-looking!

SWK - he’s chill with whatever to be honest, if you had three heads he’d probably kiss each one so some curves don’t make a difference to him! He probably brags about you to the other monkeys or even to MK. “Look at them! Heaven better look out, cause one of their angels is missing!” Hypes you up a lot, but again, he’ll chill out if you want him to. Also, bc he’s crazy strong, he will also lift you up from time to time, mostly so he can bridal carry you. Whether it’s fun or an inconvenience is really a matter of opinion!

Macaque - he doesn’t care what you look like, he’s just happy to have you in his life! He’s flirty by default though so prepare to be flustered…he knows exactly how to make you blush, especially when it comes to complimenting your appearance. He won’t necessarily show you off, but by the gods you can see how proud he is to be with you and how you both look amazing together. His shadow clones love ganging up on you and flirting with you to the point where he’ll have to step in lmao.

Redson - don’t worry she goes on long tangents and nonsensical rambles too. The fact that either of you can understand what the other is saying is a miracle. They have a bad habit of interrupting or talking over people(mostly by accident) but he tries not to do that when you talk because you’re one of the only people he’d be willing to listen to. Very lightly encourages you both to slow down a bit but honestly do either of you follow through? Mayhaps.

MK - we all know this boy’s got a very slow rate of processing things. So every time you say something to him, expect a solid couple of seconds of silence while he buffers. He never makes fun of you or gets upset, he just needs a second lol. Looks at you when you talk with such adoration in his face but there is not a single thought behind those eyes,,, we love him

Mei - she matches your energy every time, not in a making fun of you way, just because she really likes listening to you and has a tendency to just…do the same tone! She lives fast, so you talking fast is no problem for her! Gets upset at other people when they’re snapping at you for talking too fast, you may or may not have to hold her back. She’s also pretty good at helping you think of a word you’re missing (“like, the thingy!*hand gestures*” “The computer?” “Yes!”)

Redson - doesn’t get the appeal or anything at first. They know what streaming is, they have watched streams before, but nothing’s really appealed to them. However they love your voice and just listening to you, so lately they’ve been tuning in while they work on projects when you’re unable to hang out with each other. They absolutely love when you tell stories about the two of you. Definitely becomes your top contributor—they donate money very often just so they can make it clear to chat that you are very much taken, no they’re not threatening anyone, why do you ask— anyways would 10000% be willing to join a stream and chat with you; they’re not really one for video games. If you’d like you can also do their makeup.

MK - your #1 fan!! If you have merch? He buys some. You’ve got tiers for donations? He’s gonna climb to the top. You need a moderator?! HE KICKS OUT THE CREEPS! Redson - condescending at first. But they slowly adjust and are actually pretty good at helping you! Has a spare fidget in one of their pockets in case you ever need one. They’re the “translator” for other people whenever you’re trying to talk as fast as you’re thinking and mix some stuff up—you don’t know how they do it, but they understand you perfectly. If you need something hands-on to do or are just bored in general, they’ll have you lend a hand in their projects, or at the very least let you sit with them and talk about your latest hyperfixations while they work. The only time they’re going to really question your logic (if there is any) is if they pop into the kitchen for a midnight snack and find you just fully zoned out, no thoughts head empty. Don’t worry they’ll snap you out of it lol

MK - OH SAME BRO. You two operate on a routine that you collaborated on because otherwise it would literally just be chaos. He has a whole bin of fidget toys that he lets you borrow from at any time! You two sit together and probably get mesmerized by those slime videos or even just those sensory videos. The apartment is probably covered in sticky note reminders. His favorite thing is letting you infodump to him about what you’re interested in, and then he gets to rant to you as well. He mixes up words just as much as you do, and yet you both always understand what the other is saying.

Mei - is the reasonable one out of the two of you. She helps you remember what you need to do and stuff, and honestly she benefits from making you a routine since she’ll probably end up making one for herself too. Definitely buys you fidget toys from time to time and ends up finding ones that she likes too! She keeps track of your interests so she can talk about them with you! Also probably has a backpack leash for you(she already has one for MK, so honestly it’s only natural you get one too). Very sweet, just wants you to be happy in any capacity!

Macaque - he has a very, very loose understanding of what ADHD is and how people cope with it. He balances out your hyperactivity the best he can, and honestly how could you refuse when he talks so smoothly to you about maybe chilling out for a minute? He’s with you for the good days and the difficult days, especially when you’re super unmotivated to do anything. Loves all the cool creative ideas you come up with; he has you help him brainstorm for his plays. He definitely doesn’t mind staying up late with you when you’re hyper focused, but he also knows there’s a line he needs to draw for the two of you so you don’t wake up the next day feeling exhausted. He himself burns out a lot I think so he’d be very good at recognizing when you’re burning out too(along with helping you manage things in a way that you can prevent it) 

Wukong - he gets it, to a degree! Having known MK for as long as he has, he knows the basics, however he is more than willing to sit down with you and get an understanding of what your experience is like! Runs with most of your ideas and impulses, unless of course you’re thinking too far ahead or even too quickly. Yes, taking a trip on his cloud to visit a zoo a few cities over sounds nice in theory, but hang on, let’s actually plan a proper trip. He has nothing to really do all day other than train with MK and take care of the monkey village, so he’s never gonna say no to you coming over and hanging out with him, doing your thing, etc. He probably has some trouble understanding you if you’re talking really fast, but he doesn’t get frustrated or upset. He just kindly asks you to repeat what you said but slower. He’s doing his best for you :]

Honey you will not have to lift a single finger while you're sick. Redson is especially attentive in making sure you're resting and not trying to strain yourself.

Mei is the one who helps make food and what not for you. She notes your favorite type of soup, juice, fruits and veg, so that way you can get healthy and it'll taste good.

MK keeps you entertained! He plays games with you(so do the others, but he's the most likely to want to distract you from how much it sucks being sick), watches cartoons with you, etc.

Redson and MK are the ones convincing you to take the medicine. They know it tastes bad, but if you don't do it, you'll be sick for longer. Mei is the neutral party here, sometimes jokingly assisting you in getting away from them and sometimes scooping you up so you can get caught by them. It's a gamble every time!

With masks on, they all cuddle you. You're a comfy blanket burrito and they're all around you as you guys watch a movie!

They feel bad you can't go do the things you want, like go to the park and stuff, but they also know it's for the best you're at home and not getting other people sick.

Redson and Mei are the ones who are at home the most, with MK doing deliveries and training, so they like playing with you. Both enjoy doing pretend tea parties and no one can change my mind.

They literally love you so much, your adorable and precious to them, but please oh my goodness don't cough right on the blanket ;-;

MK - oooo! This boy most definitely wants to fly with you! Whether it’s transforming himself or convincing you to carry him, it’s gonna happen! He also loves looking at your wings in general. If you’re ever just sitting and chilling with enough room for him to sit behind you so he can be sandwiched in between your wings, expect him to be there. He offers to help take care of them, if you have a specific wing-care routine. Also, probably nicknames you “angel”!

Redson - They think you’re pretty cool, but they’re not gonna make a big deal out of it. Red compliments them a lot, though, just because they think the wings suit you very well. Extremely gentle around them, because they don’t want to set you on fire. You would probably be the one who has to convince them to let you carry them so you can fly together. They’ll be clinging onto you really tight the entire time, though!

Mei - she is OBSESSED. Likes flying with you, feeling them, taking care of them—if I’m honest, she would probably collect feathers that fall off of them or the ones that you can give her—basically, she thinks you’re one of the coolest people she knows. Also, she gets to brag to people that her s/o has super cool wings. Calls you her “guardian angel” since you, as her partner, probably have to help keep her out of trouble.

SWK - He thinks you’re really cool! He also probably does a lot of bird/angel puns, sorry. He lovesss just feeling your wings and practically sleeping on them, at least until you get him to move because you can’t be his pillow ALL day(as nice as it sounds). The other thing he likes is watching you take care of them. Since it’s wayyy different from monkey grooming, he’s not gonna stick his nose in it, but he likes observing. You two fly together a lot!

Macaque - probably sees you as fairly cool compared to the average person. He never asks to touch your wings; he prefers to wait for you to give him full permission. Redson - finds you adorable but will not admit it to your face. The first time you transform in front of them he freaks out a bit but then you turn back and she’s like ah. Once you properly explain how it works I think they’d rile you up on purpose because he has a lot of fun watching you get all excited and then boom! It’s a dog!! In a situation where you transform because you’re mad and Red is hurt bc of another demon, they hold a lot more respect for your other form because oh my gosh…that’s intimidating in a really cool way

Mei - AHHHH she’s obsessed!!! May or may not throw her sword while you’re in your wolf form so you’ll play fetch. Alternatively, taking power naps with each other while she’s in her dragon form and you’re in your wolf form>>>> anyways she no longer has to ask her parents about getting a puppy bc she’s got one <3 of course she loves you outside of your wolf form as well!

MK - loves seeing you transform and probably uses his powers to transform too so you guys can just have fun together! You make a great team this way :) and if you transform for a negative reason(like a lot of anger) he steers clear so he can let you just get it out. He loves you either way! If you don’t mind it, he might buy you a chew toy or two so you have something to do in your other form!

Nezha - very confused at first, but it’s not the strangest thing he’s ever seen, so he rolls with it. Not gonna lie I think once he gets used to it he’d definitely let you play fetch with his spear or use his fire wheels to chase you around. It’s just a really fun way for him to unwind with you and blow off some steam. You two make a good fighting team as well, and RIP to whatever demon decides to mess with Nezha and his partner—once the wolf shows up with an angry teenager it’s all over

I think the pair of them would have fun and spar with you in different dragon forms you have, just to see what it’s like to fight a dragon. If you have some fun dragon features when you’re in your human form they’ll definitely tease you lightheartedly about them! Overall, a very good combo, since if they ever end up in a fight then you’re the wildcard—monkey, monkey, and oh? Another monkey? NOPE ITS A DRAGON

Redson - FIRE DUO FIRE DUO—He thinks you’re very cool! Finally, he has someone who can appreciate a lava bath and absurdly hot food with him! Also, they would definitely spoil you with some kind of special scale cleaning stuff for you to use. Never pressures you to take one form or another when you’re with her but I think he has a preference for your Eastern Dragon form just because it’s the one he’s the most familiar with(that and you look really cool ok)

MK - ultimate hype man. It’s basically large s/o x small s/o when you’re in your dragon form it’s wonderful. He loves just watching you,,, be a dragon. Seeing you fly is his favorite thing because he can fly with you!! On his cloud!!! Also maybe bugs you for rides. You obviously don’t have to give him any, but can you really say no to a face like his? Also, expect him to make drawings of your different forms. Pose for him if you feel like it!

So, I've been working on this fic for a while but I'm extremely scared to post it when the first chapter is done, so I'm just gonna explain what it's about.

It's a Mei x Reader fanfic (because there are not enough of those) and it's about how Mei somehow ends up in our universe and Reader finds her in the forest outside of their house.
