Timeline : after the battle of New York, somewhere before Iron Man 3

I was about to sleep beside him, he had had a nice dinner and was actually intent on going to sleep.

I was happy, seeing Tony so relaxed calmed my nerves. He was so stressed nowadays, and sometimes he'd break down and cry, it broke my heart. The battle of New York had not taken a good toll on him, and I was going increasingly worried about his health.

Whenever I asked him why he was overworking himself, he would simply say, "I'm only trying to make sure you're safe and protected, honey."

And by overwork, I meant overwork. Even for him, who was used to working extra. Pepper, who was the CEO, was also concerned about him. But she had told me, that if anyone could save him, it was me.

But I didn't know how.

I fell asleep beside a snoozing Tony but was woken in the middle of the night by his scream.

I woke up with a shock, not sure whether the scream was in my dream or reality. But after I saw a shaking Tony beside me, I knew that it was real. I took a deep breath and hugged him.

He was tossing and shaking, not fully awake, nor fully asleep. I hated when he had to go through that. He couldn't fall back asleep nor could he be released from his nightmare.

"Tony," I whispered softly, shaking him softly. "Tony, it's okay."

He groaned in his sleep, and his face constricted. Beads of sweat gathered on his forehead.

"Tony it's not real!" I said desperately, the only thing which could help him.

He screamed again.

"Tony!" I shouted loudly. He opened his eyes and was breathing loudly. "Oh Tony," I tried my best not to cry and hugged him.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He whispered, tears pooling down his eyes. He never cried in front of anyone, only me. Humour was his way of hiding his weaknesses, and he was vulnerable only in front of me. It was something which made me wanna comfort him even more.

"Don't apologise, love." I whispered softly. "It's okay, I am here. I am here for you."

He sat up straight and I handed him a glass of water. As he was drinking, I said nothing, just waited patiently. Sometimes it's not words which is important, the silence also matters. A lot.

"I should've been better. I should've done better. If I was better, then many more lives would've been saved." He sighed.

"Tony, you did your best. There's nothing more you could've done. Even the rest of the Avengers agree." I said softly, holding his hand.

"I know, but I should've-" he rubbed his hand over his face. "That wormhole. It felt like....I'll never forget what it felt like."

I squeezed his hand.

"I felt like I was drowning in a pool of darkness, a pool I'd never get out of. It was scary." He said and closed his eyes.

"Tony," I said, "It's okay. It's over. You're safe. And I am here with you."

"I often think about how I would feel if that darkness swallowed you." He admitted, tears forming in his eyes but he blinked them away. "It would kill me. It would kill me if anything happens to you."

"Nothing is gonna happen to me." I said, stroking his hair, "I am here with you. There's no safer place for me. I know that you are worried, but don't push yourself over the limit. I need you healthy and alive, Tony. Only then I can truly be happy."

"Come here." He said and I lay down on his chest. He took a deep breath. "I was gonna say thanks but you would kill me if I do that, so I'm gonna stick to an 'I love you."

I laughed.

"I love you, sweetheart." He kissed my head, and I replied, "I love you too, metal man."

"Iron man is cooler." He insisted.

"That's why I don't call you that." I laughed and so did he.

It was a normal day Pepper and Tony had settled down with dinner and wine on the couch in his home rebuilt finally in Malibu. Well, it felt normal till Tony’s phone rang.

Tony got up and took the call but upon seeing Tony’s face when he re-entered the room Pepper knew something was wrong.

“Tony?” Pepper said as she got up and stood in front of him. “Who was it?”

Tony was looking off to the side, still processing what he had been told. “A cop. My sister, she died.”

“Oh My God.” Pepper gasped reaching out to rub Tony’s arm for comfort. “What’s going to happen to Y/n?”

“They want me to take her.” Tony told her. Tony of course said yes in a heartbeat. He and Y/n had a great relationship and he couldn’t let her go to anyone else. They needed each other, hell he thought of her as his own kid. But he was scared. Not that he’d admit it.

“Tony-”

“What if I can’t take care of her?” Tony voiced his worries looking to Pepper. Hoping she could give him an answer.

“Tony you have to. For her and for your sister.” Pepper encouraged trying to get him to see that even if he was scared he still had to do it. “You are that girl's best choice, Tony.”

Tony knew Pepper was right he needed to put his fears aside and focus on helping his niece.

It was only a few days later that everything was signed and packed. Y/n was coming today and Tony was equally excited and nervous. Tony had spent the last couple of days setting up a room for her to call her own. It was her favorite room to sit in whenever she visited.

“Hey’a Y/n/n.” Tony greeted as she exited the car Happy had brought her in.

“Hi uncle Tony.” Y/n gave him the best smile she could muster. Under the circumstances.

“I’m sorry, Kiddo.” Tony mirrored her expression and pulled her into a hug. He was sure she needed one.

“I’m sorry to.” She mumbled into his chest.

“Why are you sorry?” Tony asked leaning back to look down at his niece with questioning eyes.

“She was your sister.” Y/n stated looking at him with sad eyes.

Tony let out a soft sigh. Yeah he lost his sister and it hurt but she lost her mom. That had to hurt more, Tony knew it did. He had gone through the same thing. Y/m/n was a single mother, they were closer than close Y/m/n and Y/n. Tony didn’t expect her to be worried about how he was feeling. “Sweetheart, she was your mom. You don’t have to feel sorry for me. Just focus on you right now and no one else, okay?”

With that said the two headed inside the beautifully huge Malibu home.

They were greeted by Peper as she came down the stairs. “Hey, Hunny.”

Pepper hugged Y/n as they met in the living room.Y/n hugged her back with a small smile. She loved Pepper, she just wasn’t up for playing super happy at the moment. “Hi Pep.”

“We set up a room for you.” Pepper told her giving her a soft smile as they pulled out of their hug.

“Great view.” tony added from nearby, Y/n turned her head to look at her uncle with furrowed brows. So he continued. “It’s the one you always loved to sit in when you’d visit.”

Y/n smiled a little brighter at him, and at the fact that he with how busy his life is would remember that. “Thanks.”

“No problem kiddo.” Tony shook his head waving off the good, kind, sweet hearted thing he did for her.

Y/n almost laughed, her uncle never liked having the nice things he did for those he cared about acknowledged. “I’m gonna go out my stuff up there.”

“Take your time.” Pepper nodded

Y/n started to head up the stairs, but before she made it to the top, Tony called out. “Hey, Y/n/n.”

“Yeah.” she said turning to look down at him.

“Pizza? Dinner.” He snapped his fingers pulling out his phone.

“Sure. You know what I like.” Y/n nodded smiling at him. She took a few more steps before she stopped and looked at him again. “Uncle Tony. It sounds good.”

Once Y/n was upstairs Pepper turned to Tony with a sad expression. “She’s holding it together well, but she’s going to break sooner or later.”

Tony agreed, Y/n was holding it together but that couldn’t last forever. “And I’ll be there for her when she does.”

Pepper watched him, knowing him to well. “Tony, you need to let it out too you know.”

“I will. In my own way.” Tony nodded as he continued to find the pizza place’s number in his contacts.

“Breaking things or fixing things?” Peper answered crossing her arms over her chest with raised eyebrows. When would he learn to just talk to someone about his feelings?

“I’m feeling like a little bit of both.” Tony smiled as he finally found the number and pressed dial.

“I’m here if you need to talk.” Pepper called after him as he headed towards the kitchen.

Tony gave a wave of his hands and a short nod before pointing to his phone. “Got it. Now pizza. It won't order itself.”

"Iron Man 3" is an exciting superhero movie of 2013, which tells the adventures of Tony Stark, who faces the terrorist Mandarin. The film has an exciting plot and impressive visual effects, but some moments may seem implausible.

My rating: 8/10

The Ten Rings

Ok so this is something that has bothered me for a while. The first screen cap is from Iron Man 1, the ransom video the Ten Rings sent to Obadiah Stane (it is also seen at least twice more in IM1). The Second screen cap is from Iron Man 3, the Mandarin’s symbol in his broadcast. 

The Mandarin and the Ten Rings have the same symbol. 

I have no idea what this means. Was Aldrich Killian somehow behind the the Ten Rings as well? How did Tony not notice this? I’m sure he had JARVIS looking into everything concerning the Mandarin. Was it lazy script writing? Was it on purpose? Will this somehow tie into Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings? Will I ever get an answer? Who knows? Certainly not me!

I think its called Mark XLI (41), "Bones" Armor. 

I have a feeling this is the ‘suit with no name’ the one tony refuses to tell anyone what it was designed for. Its hella sexy. Iron man has given me a machine kink. Also, i’d like to think this is Jarvis’s suit too. Maybe it was hearing his voice as he took out the Extremis.

Anyho, anyone know the actual name of this one?

Iron Man 3 is honestly one of the best MCU movies. It doesn’t get spoken about enough. It took a sensitive and necessary approach to represent Tony’s anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. RDJ’s acting was realistic and absolutely wonderful. Sometimes it’s rare for Hollywood to hit the nail on the head but they did with this.  

I see and hear people berate this film to this day, some even complaining about the plot concentrating on Tony’s anxiety. It drives me crazy. I was 13 when it was released. The month before my best friend died unexpectedly. I started to have panic attacks; I thought something was wrong with me and didn’t tell anyone what was happening. Then I saw this movie in theatres with my family and realised that it is a perfectly normal response to grief and trauma. 

Seeing a superhero that you look up to, battle with things that you do, makes the weight of the world seem a little bit lighter.
