OMFG JUST FINISHED WATCHING THIS AMAZING INDIE FILM AND JESUS CHRIST, FRANCES HA IS OFFICIALLY MY SPIRIT ANIMAL LIKE IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. MY MESSY FUCKED UP BUT CRAZY FUN LIFE IS SO MUCH LIKE HERS I CAN'T EVEN UGH <3

One of the most beautiful, smart, funny, heartwarming, and ridiculously endearing indie films I have seen in a long while. "Frances Ha" is a portrait of what it really is like to be a struggling but hopefully positive twentysomething dreamer working in the big city. I related so hard with the titular character, and anyone who has ever experienced financial and personal hardships while looking out for that ever elusive silver lining can certainly find something to appreciate with this film.
P.S. Her surname isn't really "Ha", but to spoil the reason why the film is titled so would ruin the wit and charm of the whole thing. See "Frances Ha" for yourself and find yourself transported to those fond memories of you being an independent free spirit trying to live through each day with very little in your pocket but with lots of hope in your heart.

My favorite Frances quotes from "Frances Ha"... <3

A rather lengthy piece I did as my farewell to 2013. Link to the article can be found below:

"As random and as subjective as this award is, it means a great deal in a year of extraordinary, yet again, extraordinary performances by women... And thank you to the audiences who went to see [Blue Jasmine] and perhaps those of us in the industry who are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female films with women at the center are niche experiences. They are not. Audiences want to see them and, in fact, they earn money. The world is round, people!" — Cate Blanchett on championing women in cinema during her 2014 Oscar Best Actress acceptance speech. +++ Various fierce and flawless heroines in female-centric feature films Audrey Tautou as Amélie Poulain (Amélie) Quvenzhané Wallis as Hushpuppy Doucet (Beasts Of The Southern Wild) Björk as Selma Ježková (Dancer In The Dark) Jamie Chung as Eden (Eden) Greta Gerwig as Frances Halladay (Frances Ha) Tilda Swinton as Emma Recchi (I Am Love) Léa Seydoux as Emma + Adèle Exarchopoulos as Adèle (Blue Is The Warmest Colour) Zhang Ziyi as Sayuri Nitta (Memoirs Of A Geisha) Brit Marling as Sarah Moss/Jane Owen (The East) Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander + Élodie Yung as Miriam Wu (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)

Frances: Tell me the story of us. Sophie: Again? Frances: *nods* Sophie: All right, Frances. We are gonna take over the world. Frances: You'll be this awesomely bitchy publishing mogul. Sophie: And you'll be this famous modern dancer, and I'll publish a really expensive book about you. Frances: The D-bags we make fun of will put on their coffee tables. Sophie: And we'll co-own a vacation apartment in Paris. Frances: And we'll have lovers. Sophie: And no children. Frances: And we'll speak at college graduations. Sophie: And honorary degrees. Frances: So many honorary degrees!
