Reccer's Notes: This takes place in the 1960s, and I think does a good job of giving you the 60s vibes without over romanticizing it too much. Patrick is a veteran that has some form of PSTD, struggles with internalized homophobia and his attraction to Jonathan, his new friend that has helped pull him out of his depression. There is a bit of hockey, but mostly it focuses on Patrick slowly remaking his life.

The only thing that greets Geno when he opens his door is the light from over the stove in kitchen spilling out into the hallway and the soft sounds of the television floating in from the den.
He takes his snow covered dress shoes off in the foyer and lines them up next to Kira’s bright blue winter boots and Sid’s sneakers then follows the sound.
The TV is on with the sound turned down low. The DVR menu is taking up the screen while an episode of Friends plays in the background.
The sound of canned laughter as he walks around to the front of the couch and looks down at his daughter and Sid, sleeping soundly.

Sidney unconsciously held Lyosha a little tighter as they neared customs. He was dragging his feet; every inch closer to the exits was another inch closer to his empty little apartment in Laval. He would have offered for Geno to stay there, and then maybe it wouldn’t have felt so empty, but Geno mentioned on the plane that had already rented a place in Montréal. He had talked about how excited he was to finally see it…and Sid had tried not to feel disappointed about how far away it was from his own apartment. It was all pointless, really. No matter how much they looked like a family standing in this line, Sidney had to constantly remind himself that he’d only known these people for a few hours.
