"I'm grateful you're mine."
This sentence, it's so simple yet so beautiful. Because it holds so much more than what it is. Imagine being born in a world with more than seven billion people spread across various corners of the planet, and you find this soul in this world that's just yours in a way you can't describe to others. In the simplest of terms, it's pure love. Ah, to experience this kind of love. It's a dream.
As a fic writer, i need every reader to know that:
I don’t care if your comment is coherent. I know what you mean and i love you
I don’t care if you ramble. I read every word and i love you
I don’t care if you leave a comment on a fic from four years ago or leave comments/kudos on like ten of my fics in one go. This isn’t IG, pls stalk my AO3. I love you
I don’t care if you mention the same thing in your comment that four other people have already mentioned. It’s actually really useful to know what resonated with people and I love everyone who takes the time to tell me they liked a particular turn of phrase
I don’t mind if your comment is super long or just a couple of sentences, i love them all
I love you
Question, how much time would I be sentenced to in writing jail, for putting kissing scene(s) mostly near the end of my story?😅
Who would like updates on when I make new uploads of my stories a show of hand please. I'll be jotting down names.
A poor, ambiguously gender person named Yuuma forcibly becomes a superhero after a rich asshole named René wanted to become a supervillain since they were looking for adventure and fun.
looking for active writeblrs 🦇
i’ve had quite the break from writeblr. now i’d like to join some wip tag lists, read, and support others who are actively writing!
reblog / like with a comment describing your wip in one sentence (i know it’s hard) or link to your wip so i can check it out!
bonus if it’s fantasy, rivalry-themed, or has some world-building.
Writer's Prompt: A Superhero Weakness
I really wanted to do something simple and I am a creative gal/guy so here we go!
The ability to heal from any and all injuries however this healing only occurs through pure-blooded will and desire to live
Basically, if someone says "hey, I want to die" when they're fatally injured, their body won't repair itself. This means that your character's greatest weakness is psychological warfare.
You could possibly take this to the extreme that this character needs to be conscious in order to repair their injuries or you could say that subconsciously their body wants to continue being alive.
There are many different story ideas you could take this.
This can also help a writer who struggles with writing fight scenes since it's unlikely that anyone smart and safety conscious would ever willing get into a physical fight with "Unbreakable" over there.
Instead the only way to fight this seemingly immortal threat is through psychological warfare. To make someone so convinced that death would be better than living that they just die. This has a nice squick factor and can lend well to writing sympathetic morally corrupt individuals or to absolutely despicable villains depending on the morality of the immortal character.
TO BE CLEAR: I am only proposing this power and the controversial story ideas as a symptom of this character's weakness. I am not advocating for any of this psychological torture!
Writing Prompt: Modern Retelling
I would love to see a modern retelling of "God Vs The Morning Star" but instead of the story being like:
"demons and hell are sexy fun badasses and God is boringly evil👿"
it's an updated story where the Devil is truly evil in the most horrifying way possible as society has developed an updated idea of what true evil is.
Take Christianity which has been oversaturated with mysogynistic ableistic conservatives and make the Devil the personification of evil who wishes to corrupt everyone into those assholes.
For example, "The Devil believes that women should be slaves and Lilith is the original not-feminist Girlboss who is willing to throw all other women down in order to succeed"
or
"The Devil left Heaven once he saw that God was allowing gay people to exist without torturing them."
or
"The Devil is a massive abuser who will try and manipulate anyone into believing that it was his daddy issues that made him this way so that's why it's perfectly okay for him to do whatever he wants"
Instead of the Devil being an insanely attractive perfect guy with a bad boy exterior, why don't you make him an abusive incel with a huge superiority complex and the most manchild-infused tantrums ever?
Make God the omniscient compassionate God they are supposed to be.
Make evilness seem unattractive, immature, and horrible to be the victim of.
Make goodness the most attractive option
Writing Inspiration And Prompt
Look at me donating my abandoned WIP stories onto you like the generous cult leader I am :)
"For a good stable time period Elias was your standard privlieged captain of the number one [INSERT SPORT TEAM] but all good things come to an end. Unfortunately. Elias received a message from someone called E-GIrl that said "I have blackmail and if you don't want it getting out you'll bring your team down to fourth place". Elias obviously didn't care for the wishes of a rando named after a Tiktok trend until Elias saw that this person really did have fucking solid evidence of their crimes. Elias was left with four options.
Option One: Purposefully Sabotage Or Convince Their Team To Fail Until They Reach Fourth Place.
Option Two: Become The "Close Companion" Of The Team Captains.
Option Three: Ignore The Demands And Kill The Blackmailer.
Elias chose option four. All of the motherfucking above.
Elias' plan goes as follows. Firstly, befriend/romance Reza Heyati, the leader of the second place team, since Elias has some inside information that Reza is planning to quit and he isn't looking to reason with a blackmailer. Obviously, Elias is going to struggle since he literally got into a huge fight with the guy a week ago since Reza accidentally triggered some traumatic memories when he made a sex joke about him and this random girl.
Secondly, abuse Alexei's superiority complex by offering to be his mentee in morality which won't be hard since the third-place champion is notoriously convinced that he is the greatest guy around.
Thirdly, sabotage his own team because diplomacy is not an option with Vanesa. He kind off blackmailed her about aforementioned traumatic secret. Ironic.
Finally, Elias has to silence the blackmailer. Literally. He did it once before. He isn't proud of that fact but god, this secret can never come out. He'd look so weak and pathetic if it did. Who even cares about the prison time?
I just combined Sports Anime with Mystery genre.
Please answer how my absolutely gay emotionally-constipated and traumatized baby who genuinely did something horrible yet sympathetic story will end :`<
How To Write Cuddling
This my third part to my series where I get specific requests from people about what advice they want. Here we have @12-cluh to explain what about cuddling is getting them confused:
"Idk how to really describe what I'm going after. I'd say I'm more confused on how to describe the way the bodies are laying together? That sounds weird but you get it-"
Perfect, so our key problem is how to establish a character's positioning in the cuddling!
First: How Are These People Cuddling?
Here is some great writing advice for all manners of situations: try to physically establish where the characters are
Heck, you could draw a nice stickman cuddling session in order to get everything down.
This is mostly to prevent a type of "I gently wrapped my arms around her in an unending hug as I let my free hand grasp onto her colder fingers." situation. If you didn't notice, human character grew a third hand and certainly didn't tell me.
And obviously, reread your material out loud so your pesky brain wont perform it's own autocorrect
Next, there are tons of different cuddling positions that evoke different types of atmospheres from the sultry to the affectionate to the hilarious.
Based on what I googled, there are many different names and Shingles is the weirdest thing to name a cuddling style.
Since this cuddling is taking place between "a couple who finally get a day off. (featuring her tracing his scars! :3" I'm guess that @12-cluh is probably going for affectionate.
I probably would recommend "Sweetheart's Cradle" or "The Honeymoon Hug" if you are going for an ultra-affectionate cuddle.
If you are looking for something more casual yet still affectionate then "The Spoon" and, uhh, "Shingles" . The "Sweetheart's Cradle" could still work here but that's up to your interpretation of what Romance On The Go is talking about.
2. Actual Description
Quote: "...how to describe the way the bodies are laying together?
Obviously, it's hard for me to give specific details on how to describe the scene since it's feelings which change the world and influence how it arrives to the audience.
If this is a somber affair, based on the scar tracing, then that's obviously going to influence the atmosphere. If it's a highly affectionate get-together then that's the diction.
However, in general, you don't need proper "he laid down on her" type of weirdly phrased descriptions.
You just need to get the emotion across.
For example, "He lowers them onto the bed once again, the back of his hand brushing against her cheek. She latches onto him and refuses to let go for the rest of the night. She refuses to let go for forever, actually. She prayes that she wasn't alone. That this isn't just another dream or mistake. When the sunlight glimmers through the curtain, she will thank the gods for this blessed union."
I hoped I communicated the deep love and desperation between these characters :3 God, I am such a bad writer.
Anyway, as you can see there wasn't a lot of detail focused on where my female character was latching onto. All the detail you need is for the movements that display emotion such as the caressing
Here is a more comedic example for more proof: "What nobody told him about cuddling is how f*cking uncomfortable it was. What should've been a delicate and affectionate affair was instead a mess of limbs and sweat as his boyfriend's ability to light up his life was far more literal then he wanted. But even if his hand may never function again as this brick shithouse of a man has lovingly passed out on it, the feeling of just being together in this shitty cot makes his soul tremble in the sweetest, strangest way. "
I regret writing examples of this. I am going to get destroyed in the comments for my shitty writing ability :`(
Anyway, there is little set-up for what limbs are where and what everyone is specifically doing.
There are other things you can do to show the audience where your characters are. "Our breath mixed together". Or "I could hear his heartbeat".
And now I need to ask you "doth that satisfy thou my liege?" I tried to do this advice right since it's you and for some reason I care about you more then I should, darling.
So please give me my validation and feel free to ask me for more writing advice. I am forever at your beck and call.
Writting Historically Accurate Dialogue
From @melda0m3 we have another ask: "How to make the medieval fantasy dialogues seem, well, medieval fantasy. How can I avoid using language that's too "modern" for the settings I'm going for?"
(I cropped it a bit)
Unfortunately, I forgot to ask what the specific context was so i'm going to be giving advice for both original works and for fanfiction. Of course, there is going to be a large amount of overlap so reading both sections of the post should be only beneficial!
Let's not waste time as we need to speed on over to advice-giving territory!
Advice For A Fanfic
If you are writing fanfiction then my advice is going to be extremely simple.
Read the dialogue. Hear it if you can do that.
It's honestly disturbing when nobody realizes that if they're struggle with dialogue has already been fixed by the fact that their medieval fantasy world's creator struggled with dialogue that you didn't have to.
Grab a list and just write down some iconic lines from these characters. You'll get the general "vibe" of how these characters speak and the language used by the characters.
You can also write down, digitally or physically, "no-no words" like "kids" or "cool" so when you go back into your work to make edits, now you have an actual list to go through!
Advice For Original Non-Fanfic
Grab a notebook, Google Doc, whatever, and just write down some of the most common slang words you use. If you use it everyday, you will probably have at least a couple examples of you writing it down. Again, lists are the best!
Next, look up shows with a medieval fantasy setting. Then look up criticism and praise for the dialogue within the show. Now either watch that show for inspiration or to learn what not to do.
Read medieval text about a hobby you have or something interesting.
Find a medieval real life person and read their diary!
Conclusion
Ultimately, the probability that you are going to find a historian who simultaneously reads historical fiction and hasn't given up on the hope of historical accuracy is next to none.
The majority of people who read your story can't tell the Elizabethan Era from the Victorian Era.
If you manage to get found by a historian or someon interested in this time period, they're probably so emotionally scarred by far worse historical inaccuracies that your traumatic dialogue is only a slight bump on the road.
That isn't an excuse to avoid doing research but it's a sign that you probably shouldn't obsess over it too heavily.
When you edit, look up some iffy words, remove the non-fancy and slang words, and throw in some Game of Thrones since nobody knows history well enough to tell you that it's historically inaccurate!
Have I helped you @melda0m3 !?
How To Scare Your Readers
tw: mentions of murder and other horror media, its not specific or gorey but I just wanted to mention it
Today is one my hardest asks as it is a highly individual process to freaking out your audience with @differentnighttale asking: "How do you write horror, and how do you write it good nail biting and very unsettling type of horror."
Specifically, we are focusing on supernatural horror and dark fantasy. Due to the fact that there are numerous ways of scaring an audience, I'm going to focus on more diverse and interesting ways to freak out the readers. There are obvious tricks like "focus on the tactile senses" and stuff like that but let's cover something not as cliche!
Again, there are many ways to instill horror.
One: Combine Beauty And The Macabre
While this is a common trick seen in visual horror such as the works of Junji Ito or Midsommar, it's also an important and useful element in other beloved horror media.
This can be useful for a myriad of reasons.
The ability to combine the fantastical beauty of the scenery with death or the lovingly detailed imagery of a victimized body might be just the thing to elevate the scenery and visuals.
It also works to surprise your readers. If you are reading horror, you expect the murder and terror to appear in dark hospitals and obviously disgusting places. But what if the horror was in a cherry blossom field? In the church? In the character's childhood bedroom during the sunset?
It follows the perversion of the familiar. Most people internalize certain environments are seperated from society which might assist you if you are going for that specific type of horror. BUT! If you have horror in the supermarket, in the coziest little cottage, in the beauty.
TWO: Focus On A Specific Brand Of Horror
This is especially important for horror that is based off of pop culture spooks such as ghosts, ghouls, witches, zombies, and werewolfs.
Doing some research into why these monsters have survived in the public mind and what exactly is frightening abou them can influence your settings, characters, and horror.
There is horror about isolation.
There is horror about losing yourself.
There is horror about the female body.
There is horror about puberty.
There is horror about gender dysphoria.
There is horror about everything.
Decide what is the core fear you are proding at.
THREE: Be Ambiguous
Readers are comforted by linear stories with a beginning, clearly laid out morality, and a clear cut ending which provides either a happy ending or a sad ending.
Messing up any one of these things can lead to your story haunting the minds of your audience for a long time.
Midsommar is constantly debated about over if the ending is happy or sad.
Joker(2019), a thriller but not a horror, is infamous for it's amazing usage of hallucination and delusion to tell a non-linear story with a confusing ending.
Leaving the ending, villain, characters, or plot ambiguous and not clearly detailed might elevate your horror :)
FOUR: Use Your Own Fears
When you write about what scares you, that natural fear tends to radiate into your writing more naturally :)
This fear can be a lot of things from the specific phobia of bugs to the fear of being mistreated by a loved one.
Conclusion:
I hope I gave you some interesting advice that you haven't heard before @differentnighttale
p.s: at what point does something become "Mature"? I did mention "murder" throughout my post somewhat frequently but I never went into specific detail so I can't tell if it's "Mature" or not?
If it is mature and I mislabeled it then I can edit it to be "Mature"
Sometimes when I'm struggling with my mental health, or real life is sapping my already-limited energy more than usual, I will drop the ball and not reply to comments for a while. But please know that they mean no less to me during those times. I will still read them the moment they appear in my inbox. I will read and re-read and smile and cry and screenshot to show my best friend so they can be happy for me too. In fact, during those times, comments mean even more.
Those who don't comment on fics you like, you've got no idea the joy you could be supplying to someone. Consider that just because it took you 15-30 minutes to read doesn't mean that's how long it took the author to write. I'm seven months in on my current fic. Having that effort validated? And all it would take is a few words? As little as a thanks? Please, just a minute more of your time.
We're not big business. We're not mass producers. We're sitting at our computers or on our phones watching the hit counter go up in single figures. Your acknowledgement is oxygen. Your engagement is everything.
The sharing of fanfiction was a two-way street once. It's got quiet on the readers' side of the road lately. We miss you.

people who let me wake up to this get a special place in heaven. firefly_fox how does it feel to hold my life in ur hands....

“What would you give,” the villain drawled. “To save the world?”
The hero swallowed. Their arms hurt in the binding, pressed too tight against their skin.
“Everything.”
The villain tipped their head.
“Mmm. Lovely. But I have everything. Try again.”
The hero did know, they didn’t know what the villain wanted and the world was going to burn and people were going to die and it hurt—
“Whatever you want,” the hero blurted. “Take it.”
The villain smiled.
“You panic so pretty, darling.” The villain crouched down in front of them. They tipped the hero’s chin up with one elegant finger. “What I want,” they said slowly, like a secret. “Is you.”
“I—“
“You think yourself worth the world, then? I release you, and the world burns so you can stay free and live the rest of your meaningless life. After all, what’s a hero without anyone to save?”
The blood drained from the hero’s face. Their powers lay aching, stolen in their chest.
“No,” they said, and they weren’t sure if it was a plea or a command.
The villain stood.
“You or the world, hero. I’d take either, given the chance,” their eyes burned into the hero’s. “Choose.”
A tear, one, traitorous tear, slid down the grime on the hero’s cheek.
“Me,” they whispered.
Something dark simmered in the villain’s gaze.
“Look at you. Such a good hero, saving the world,” they cooed. They motioned a guard to haul the hero to their feet. “I’m going to have so much fun watching you break.”
The hero never saw the outside world again.
They just hoped it was safe.
