The Social Network - Tumblr Posts
Okay... this is going to be a long one. The Social Network is an amazing film. One of the things that stood out to me what that David Fincher DEFINETLY had a point of view in directing this. Juxtapositions of college life with the solitary confinement of Mark Zuckerberg in his working "space" were very evident. It was like in making facebook he gained access to the world he sought in college. All of his hopes and dreams were wrapped into this site.
A big theme in this film is being on the outside, looking in. Mark wrote his algorithms on computer screens and on windows that reflected things but that kept him on the inside. But with this site, he was able to become connected to the world. Think of this concept. It is so intriguing. It is not as simple as Sean's idea of success to say fuck you to the detractors, Zuckerberg, by definition, wanted to be a part of things. He sought to create a community.
Watching this film though, I must say that the women are depicted horribly. From the coked out girls at the parties to the girls that hooked up with Zuckerberg and Eduardo, all around they seemed so unintelligent and had little to bring to the table. Watching this film, I felt I had more in common with the men. They had drive and purpose and had an important vision.
I admire Zuckerberg's vision of keeping Facebook "cool" and avoiding advertising. As this is the second time I have seen it, I have noticed some things. Number one: it was a bad idea for Eduardo to not have went to California. But it also seemed as though Mark and Eduardo were never on the same page as far as where they wanted Facebook to go. I will also say that some parts in this film were over the top, but for some reason, it worked. For example, the scene where Eduardo's girlfriend lit the bed on fire whilst Eduardo was having a heated conversation with Zuckerberg. It was orchestrated wonderfully, like a ballet recital. After Eduardo put out the fire, he broke up with her and the plot thickens.Things fall apart always perfectly. The Soundtrack was phenomenal as well. It created even more tension in the film. I can't help but think though from the ending, that Zuckerberg did everything to prove himself to the one girl who didn't want him, Erica Albright.

i didn’t have to tell a respected, tenured academic that a small but passionate community of shippers wrote intense and at times deeply erotic fanfiction about jesse eisenberg and andrew garfield because of “the social network” but i think it was important to the philosophical discussion at hand

Seeing the Tree Law posts regarding Universal Studios & the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike: someone ask Andrew Garfield to smash a laptop in front of executives. The amount of takes that occurred to get this shot ought to be worth the destruction of one more Apple device.

"Check The Math On That..."
With respect to The Social Network gif regarding Universal Studios, Tree Law, and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike I posted, look once more at the scene where Mr. Garfield is smashing the laptop. Besides Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake, how many background actors do you see? The witnesses to this pivotal scene are there for a reason that enhances every single thing about the emotions on display.
I want human beings in those scenes, not AI. Do the math, pay the actors, and don't replace them with machines. Destroy the laptop not the people.
The people you don't see in films, the writers, the crew, and all the others who labor or work in industries nationwide to support our well-being and our daily lives? Pay them a living wage. They count.

AG often seems to never stop moving BTS except when he is jet-lagged or hungry. Often wonder when he is physically still if that is when his mind is racing. That's the way it is for me...

Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield on the set of The Social Network (2010, Dir. David Fincher)
"When you're creating a relationship with someone for the purpose of a job, there's an element of it that feels false, but with Jesse, from my perspective, it's felt very organic, very natural, honest, and I am extremely lucky that I had to pretend like he's my best friend. It was very easy for me to do, like I have a lot of love for him, a lot of genuine love for him."
- Andrew Garfield
Before he became Brazilian-born Eduardo, he was the Dorito playing musician in Spain. From tortilla chips to computer chips, hats off to you Andrew Garfield!

That was a really good trick shot! It's fun to spend a down period doing some playful things.
It's helpful for our brains to have good-natured play. As adults, we forget that sometimes and of course there are times where play is perhaps inappropriate. But don't forget to indulge in moments of joy wherever you find them.

After mulling it over, I don’t know why they would want to do this? The original film was excellent and perhaps they ought to let it rest.

David Fincher says there’s been talks about making ‘THE SOCIAL NETWORK 2’.
How does a sequel? Would I be "The Social Network 2: The Death Of Facebook"?
Andrew Garfield has been in the enviable position of looking younger than his years, and this photo is a great example of it. While some actors/actresses can, through body language and other techniques (sans technology), appear young and thus play youthful characters, Garfield extends that range quite well. He was ~26 when he played The Social Network's college freshman Eduardo Saverin, 27 years old when filming began on The Amazing Spider-Man where he played high schooler Peter Parker, and 32 in Hacksaw Ridge as the young soldier, Desmond Doss, who began serving in the Army at age 23.
Now forty, Garfield can likely pick and choose his roles and here's hoping he's got some good ones lined up. He's among the actors who are a delight to watch because you know you're getting someone who puts in the work to deliver a good performance.

Dude, how dare this man be so beautiful!?
