Ok so, I started planning out this tattoo, it was pretty sweet, a honeycomb pattern with a lil bee and a couple flowers. Not a week later I get stung by a bee for the first time and find out I am Extremely Allergic. A couple months later I get the tattoo anyway, half because I love the idea of having a tattoo of something pretty but very deadly to me.
Soon after that I start using BeeKindaKind as my username on different sites because it seemed simple but unique and on brand for me. But of course, as I interact with peeps online, they don't know my given name, so that would call me by my user, or ofter just Bee. And I instantly loved it! Didn't take me long to start asking friends online to use it because I had often asked them to use various names I liked, and it's snowballed from there, now I go by it with irl friends, my doctor and therapist, my partner, on applications, pretty much everywhere but with my family, and I still love it!
I don't know if someone did this already so imma just start it: trans, non-binary and folks of other genders, how did you find your name and why did you choose it?
I'll start:
Everything started way back early in my life. I've always hated my name. It was a feminine one, not the problem since I'm demigirl but what's been bothering me was that it didn't feel like it is my name, you know? It probably sounds weird but it just was like that, my whole life. I started thinking about a name change (at least a non legal one) like a year or two ago, around the time I started One Piece. Oh and let me tell you — the names the characters have are just *chef kiss*. I especially fell in love with the name of Arabastas princess — Vivi. I loved her name, soso much. But I didn't have the courage to change my dead name into that. Time passed until a few months ago where I finally wanted to change my name because I couldn't live with people calling me by my dead name. I looked and looked for names, completely having forgotten about Vivi at that point. I had some names I really liked, like Carrot (another one piece reference) and a bunch of other cute ones. What was a must have was that the name I'm going to choose didn't sound like a name, but was more a noun. I tried to think of people calling me "real" names but nothing seemed to fit except the "weird" ones. And then I found Clover. It was the second time I fell in love with a name but since it is not easy to pronounce for some German speaking folks I had to think of a nickname and then Vivi came into my mind again.
