I was watching the episode “Skunked!” the other day and Zach giving up the entire construct of his plan for his love of tomato soup gets me every time! He is so close to getting away with his scheme, but he decides to take the Tortuga out of lockdown mode just so he can have some tomato soup that was so clearly left there by the Wild Kratts (specifically Aviva who knows him most) to lure him out!
That whole part reminded me of the waffle scene in Shrek 4, so you know I just had to make this! Alessandra would definitely be his voice of reason, clearly seeing how suspicious it is, but of course Zach would be under the spell of free tomato soup! 😂

strongly dislike when people who don't like tomato soup say it's like drinking ketchup. like no, actually, those things are fundamentally different and do not taste the same. just because tomato soup is my favorite kind of soup and I love tomatoes in general doesn't mean I'll hate you or even be at all offended by you for not wanting liquid tomato in large quantities. please just say it instead of coming up with some weird excuse that clearly isn't true.

Rainwater drips down your face as you shut the door, entering your apartment. It had been a pretty sunny week, so you hadn’t brought an umbrella with you to work, but the weather took a turn for the worse when you drove home. It was pouring when you parked, so you had to carry your jacket over your head when you ran inside. Said jacket was now completely soaked through.
You sigh, wiping the water off your forehead, only for more to drip down from your hair. You kick off your shoes and put them by the door, planning to take them outside to dry later when it was a little less rainy. Your cat comes over and winds around your legs as you hang up your jacket on the coat rack—you’ll take that outside later, too. You pick him up and kiss his forehead as he starts purring, seemingly unbothered by how drenched you are.
Making your way to the kitchen, you hum when you see Jongho by the stove, cooking something. It smells like tomatoes, and you can see an open soup can next to the fridge.
“Hi honey, dinner will be ready whenever you are. Did you have a good day?” your boyfriend says, turning to smile at you.
Truth be told, your day was kind of terrible. You lost count of how many frantic emails you got about insurance renewals, your coworker was distracting you all day because she finally won her divorce case and wouldn’t stop bragging about it, your intern was sobbing for an hour because she got rejected from three grad schools in one day (thus distracting you further), and your lunch was stolen from the breakroom fridge. But seeing Jongho’s smile made all of those stresses disappear.
“It went pretty well. This smells delicious, thank you for making it, honey. I’ll be ready soon,” you say, walking over and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“That’s good. Let me know when you’re out, I’ll make grilled cheese to dip in the soup,” he says, kissing you in return. “Use one of my candles if you want.”
You chuckle inwardly; he could see right through you, and often let you use his candles whenever you were stressed.
You couldn’t have asked for a better boyfriend.

I remember being quite bored with all the soups my mom made, then, once I was on my own I noticed how many soups I ended up making 😊
Most of the time I don’t really follow a strict recipe, although for this tomato one I use a Bobby Flay recipe I found online ages ago. The only real change is that I use an immersion blender, it saves a lot of cleaning.
Needed a lot of tomatoes so grabbed some from Costco. After some roasting I finished off the recipe on the stove, blended everything and it was ready to serve.
