crying myself to sleep tonight thinking about how amanda was in rehab by the time she and john met. how we’re given no reason to assume that she wasn’t there of her own volition & trying to take steps to get better, even she did relapse by the time she asked cecil to steal from the clinic for her. how jill knows and cares about her enough to remark on her progress to her husband. how john chooses amanda for the trap specifically because jill described her as a “lost soul.” how amanda greets jill warmly when john introduces them post-trap. how she genuinely seems eager to show jill that it worked, that she’s getting better. how she wants to prove herself to, in her eyes, the only two people to ever care about her recovery. how when they meet again, they don’t say anything to each other. how they interact awkwardly & silently. how jill used to worry about amanda & her telling john about it led to amanda being tortured…how amanda wanted to get better but john used her frustration with the recovery process to isolate her from the only person who genuinely wanted to help her. how they weren’t friends before, but they’re strangers now.

i don't know if i'll ever get over the clones in star wars.
the fact that they were bred and born to fight and they weren't given options or free will. they were programmed to believe they were fighting for the right cause and they were never given a choice of how they wanted to fight or if they even wanted to. palpatine saw them as less than human, and treated them like pawns, because their lives ended up basically meaningless. they were given numbers and orders and told to follow what they were told. and yet they still ended up being so innately good and human. despite the numbers they were given they became each others family, they gave each other endearing nicknames and treated each other as individuals. palpatine treated them as a collective whereas the jedi almost always treated them as individuals, calling them by their names and valuing their lives over their own. clones were so compassionate and loving, they can always convince themselves to fight for the right thing, even if they didn't know they didn't have a choice. they always believed they would find a way and they never gave up. they never prioritized their lives over anyone else.
AND EVEN THOUGH they were created to fight for a specific cause, as soon as they were given the order to kill the jedi, they completely lost their free will. they killed the very few people who treated them like human beings, being manipulated into thinking that they were evil. and after following order 66, they weren't cared for, they were abandoned. they were left homeless and ignored by the government that they were created to fight for, having no other purpose to them. so they were left alone, and they aged rapidly and died as fast as they were born, the empire forgot about them and washed their hands of them. the galaxy only remembered their existence because of the war, and that's it. their home planet was destroyed, they were torn away from duties they swore their life to, to be replaced by people who actually got to volunteer and choose their fight.

I cried, literally the only people I cried for. They stole the show for me. I hated every single one of the heroes for what happened to them. They were just fitting for their freedoms and their right as people and they were murdered and looked at as the bad guys for. I knew they were done for when the crows showed up.

As the weekend wore on I could feel my pulse beat faster when he continually discouraged Steve, and his younger brother, Chris. I bit my tongue, especially when I heard him tell Chris that he was a good guitar player, but that he would never have the luck of his brother Steve. “You can’t ‘ave more than one star in the family, it’s just impossible,” warned Barrie. Chris, a very introverted young man, just took it like a punch to the stomach and withdrew back into his own bedroom, where he spent most of his time. I couldn’t help but notice that whenever Barrie came home, Chris would leave the room and disappear, never participating in the drinking or the pub life. He was living out his youth as a hermit.
I asked Steve if we could at least have Chris come and visit us in Paris. I would’ve done anything to help and inspire Chris and his mother, so I opened our home to them hoping they would come and visit. They never did. Steve told me Chris would never leave his mom. He was 20 years old, had never had a job, and still lived at home. He was totally dependent on them.
