EXTENDED DOCTOR WHO RAMBLING:
Seven's scrapped regeneration idea in Alixion has always really interested me. For one, the lore implications that a Time Lord can regenerate through mental rather than physical strain are really interesting - and it still keeps the 'dark, rather sudden and humiliating end for the manipulator' vibe the Doctor Who movie regeneration for Sylvester still has.
I've been thinking about an idea for a sorta 'seamless DW TV show' idea where Seven's last season happens, then we get 3 with Paul McGann, 3 with John Hurt and 2 more with Christopher Eccleston before we segue into what's currently NuWho series 1.
DESCRIBING EVERY DOCTOR IN UNDER 10 WORDS
hartnell: "screw politeness, i'm a senior!"
troughton: idiot pretending to be smart pretending to be an idiot
pertwee: bond name's the james. name's jond. *car crash*
baker: just in case you were forgetting this guy isn't human davison: cricket player adopts traumatised children, goes through hell repeatedly
baker (2): walking dictionary looks like a rainbow vomited on his suit
mccoy: now ace don't do that it's rude *kills cthulhu*
mcgann: just in case you were forgetting this guy isn't straight
hurt: yeah that surname's pretty accurate actually this guy's life sucks
eccleston: socialist funnyman with post-traumatic stress disorder tennant: "i'm sorry... i'm so, so sorry.." repeat x50
smith: smart guy pretending to be idiot pretending to be smart
capaldi: teacher going through a badass midlife crisis
whittaker: just in case you forgot she isn't straight or human
On the contrary from my previous post - giving the Classic doctors NuWho style regenerations:
Hartnell: The Twice Upon A Time speech he gives, only he does it in front of Ben and Polly before doing the yellow T-pose and turning into Troughton.
Troughton: Very unsure on this seeing as there's multiple choices on where to put this (The War Games, Devious, The Night Walkers comic, etc.)
Pertwee: Instead of collapsing to the floor, he just stumbles out of the TARDIS and has Sarah-Jane hold him up for his last lines, he says 'when there's life there's...', has Sarah-Jane reply 'hope' and smiles, then regenerates. Not sure how you'd fit Cho'je into this one, to be honest.
Baker: I have no idea how this could be done and still involve the Watcher in a cool way, especially since the cause of the regeneration is a fall from a great height. Perhaps he just.. jolts up after the Watcher goes into him, grins then turns back and changes?
Davison: I have seen a YouTube version of this but if I recall it omitted Peri, but the flashback of all his old companions still works and the last line being 'Adric?' is still just as heartbreaking. Not sure how you'd involve Peri here, though.
Baker (2): I've always considered 'The Brink of Death' audio being Six's canon regeneration, so let's go off that. I'm picturing him, like.. holding himself up on the console? The Rani watches him just mumble to himself and walks over just in time to hear 'our future is in safe hands' then the change into McCoy.
McCoy: Very, very unsure on this since it's based on him being in a hospital bed already.
McGann: They essentially already did this, so I'm guessing the elixir just made him collapse for this one.
Interesting how it's a lot harder to modernify the classic regenerations as opposed to classic-ing the modern ones.
Because I couldn't resist... You get one more! Who doesn't love a self-portrait? What a journey! Thanks for coming along! The background of this piece has a TON of easter eggs from across 60 YEARS of Doctor Who! What can you spot?
This lil guy doesn't know how the world can be cruel ðŸ˜
The death of the seventh doctor is so tragic 😥 Killed by people who tried to help him
