Qui-gon Jinn’s death and Fives’ death:

Found Another Star Wars Parallel!

I agree with many people that Anakin’s story was kind of poorly developed, especially in the movies. However, I think what we have seen shows how his motivations were strong enough to join the dark side and become Darth Vader.

Anakin had no father, literally, and only had his mother until he was ~10y/o.

He and his mother were slaves for Watto.

When Qui-gon discovered how high his midichlorian count was, his force sensitivity was made into a big deal.

Qui-gon believed very early on that Anakin was the Chosen One and that he would fulfill the prophecy of balancing the force.

Anakin had to say goodbye to his mother and leave the only home he ever knew to live with and be trained by strangers.

When Anakin was first brought before the High Jedi Council, they refused to allow him to be trained. His confidence was built up and broken down within such a short amount of time.

As one of the only men that believed in him and cared for him up until that point, Qui-gon’s death must have been heartbreaking to Anakin.

The only reason Yoda agreed to let Anakin into the Order was because Obi-wan basically threatened to leave the Order and take Anakin with him and train him without the council’s supervision (and because he trusted Qui-gon’s judgement).

Anakin was raised by Obi-wan for the next 10 years, but probably in a very by-the-book way because Obi-wan was dedicated the the Jedi Code.

During this time, he was probably judged by everyone else in the Order. Everyone expected him to be the Chosen One. What do you think happened when Anakin failed at something? Made a mistake? He was probably held to such high expectations the rest of his childhood.

When he was 19, he saw force visions of his mother dying. He went back to Tatooine to find her just in time for her to die in his arms. He killed the entire village of Tusken Raiders out of rage, probably because he never had a place to vent his anger before. Jedi are taught not to let emotions control their actions, but for the first ~10 years of his life, he was raised differently. He probably had strong emotions but had to hide them to avoid further disappointment from his peers.

It is implied that Anakin was knighted because the Jedi Order didn’t have enough Jedi knights to serve as generals in the Clone War. They admitted that he hadn’t passed all of the trials but knighted him anyways. One of the most important achievements in any Jedi’s life was falsified in Anakin’s case for the council’s gain.

When the council entrusts him to train Ahsoka, and after he warms up to the idea of that responsibility, he grows very attached to Ahsoka. So when Cad Bane almost threw her out an airlock, she was almost killed by the Blue Shadow Virus, she was possessed (and killed¿) by the Brother, she was kidnapped by Trandoshans, she was framed for murder, she was expelled from the Order, and when she left the Order and Anakin behind...Anakin felt responsible, heartbroken, and maybe even betrayed. He missed her and resented the council for her deciding to leave.

Not to mention when the council decided to have Obi-wan fake his death and go undercover to prevent Eval from kidnapping Palpatine. Anakin genuinely thought his master, the man who raised him, “the closest thing [he had] to a father,” was dead. They had a funeral that Obi-wan’s closest friends and peers attended under the impression that it was real. After the mission’s success, Anakin finds out that the council lied to him in such a horrible and kind of unnecessary way.

Anakin also saw force visions of Padmé dying. Not only was padmé his wife and the love of his life, but she was also the mother of his unborn children. He wasn’t just trying to save her, he was also trying to save the twins from dying. He had three lives at risk that he was desperate to save.

When Anakin is inducted into the Jedi Council, he isn’t given the rank of master. This is the first time in the Jedi Order’s history that a member of the council was not ranked as a master. If Anakin wasn’t ready to be a master, he shouldn’t have been accepted onto the council. Later, Windu tells Anakin that if his intel is correct then he will have “gained [his] trust” meaning that Windu never truly trusted him before that.

So when Palpatine promises to help Anakin save Padmé, supports Anakin’s decisions throughout the war, and seems to want to help him, Anakin grows close to him. Anakin depended on him.

In the end, he was deceived. Padmé was dead (he probably assumed his children were dead by extension), the Jedi were dead, he believed his former padawan was dead (probably at the hands of Rex, who he also probably thought was dead), his master had left him to die, his life was basically ruined, and all he had was a man that engineered his suit to constantly cause him pain to ensure that he would never overthrow him.

Anakin’s story is a tragedy, and it’s shown beautifully if you pay enough attention.

No because this is very accurate and almost nobody in the fandom wants to talk about this...

Amazing work OP <3

you… really have to hand it to Maul’s nearly suicidal hubris.

first just the tunnel vision and arrogance of thinking he could entice Obi-Wan to come at all? like, the entire Clone Wars are coming to a head. Satine is already dead so he has no personal leverage anymore. Mandalore as a neutral planet is completely strategically irrelevant and the Republic military couldn’t legally land there (EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO AND THEY DON’T). Grievous is still out there. Dooku is still out there. they’re in the middle of the Outer Rim Sieges. what about the man is busy is he not getting??

Maul is like the MOST MINOR bad thing on the mile-long list of bad things Obi-Wan is dealing with.

AND THEN

thinking that Obi-Wan coming would be ANY KIND OF A WIN FOR HIM

Maul lost to Obi-Wan as a padawan, and since then Obi-Wan has spent ten years training and fighting every single day while Maul has spent ten years going insane and eating garbage. he and Savage TOGETHER couldn’t even take Obi-Wan ON HIS OWN. TWO ON ONE and Maul still couldn’t trap and kill Obi-Wan. it took him in collusion with an entire planet PLUS the whole galactic underworld to get Obi-Wan trapped on Mandalore the first time, and Obi-Wan STILL got away.

Ahsoka, a seventeen-year-old, punted him through a window and, unarmed, took his own lightsaber out of his hands. and he originally wanted Obi-Wan to come to Mandalore, BRING HIS ARMY, AND BRING HIS APPRENTICE, who Maul knows is so powerful that Sidious has spent TEN YEARS meticulously grooming him as the final endgame Sith minion.

i genuinely cannot imagine how exactly Maul expected this to go down. it’s got to be a product of his clearly deteriorating sanity. he couldn’t have had any concept of what he was asking for. like what’s the thought process?

sure, i’ll fight Obi-Wan Kenobi (who i have never once defeated one-on-one) and his unstable six foot Sith-influenced murder machine best friend in a two-vs-one death match. no problem! its not like i’ve ever won a duel in my life or anything!!

i hope somebody writes this AU because i desperately want to see it now.

Just thinking about how Maul’s last words before he died were “He will avenge us.”

Just Thinking About How Mauls Last Words Before He Died Were He Will Avenge Us.

On his deathbed, Maul finally gives up on trying to defeat Obiwan long enough to realize how similar they are and how wronged they were.

Now, whether the Chosen One is Luke or Anakin is debatable because of the context, but either way, they did both avenge Maul and Obiwan.

Luke was able to convince his father to help save him from Palpatine’s force lightning, throw Palpatine to what should have been his death, and damage his breathing system which is probably what caused his death.

If Palpatine had truly died, the prophecy would have been fulfilled. Maul, Obiwan, and countless others would have been avenged.

Palpatine was responsible for forcing Maul to be his apprentice, training him ruthlessly, sending him to the fight where he was cut in half, letting him rot in insanity, killing his brother and apprentice, literal torture, and probably more terrible things I don’t even know about.

Palpatine was responsible for sending Maul to kill Qui-gon (and Maul’s incessant obsession with hurting Obiwan afterwards including Satine’s death and all the Jedi he killed to get Obiwan’s attention), creating and playing both sides of the Clone War (resulting in the deaths of countless clones created only for this purpose and innocent civilians), grooming Anakin to be the next Sith Lord after Dooku and seducing him to the dark side, ordering Order 66 which almost killed Obiwan (and Maul), and forcing Obiwan to live in hiding under the cruelty of the Empire.

Palpatine used both of them and put them against one another. He was the one that ruined both of their lives, directly or otherwise.

When Anakin threw him down the reactor shaft in ROTJ, that should have been it. After Anakin died, there would be no Sith Lords left and the Sith Rule of Two would be forever ended, restoring peace to the galaxy.

This is one of the reasons why I dislike the sequel trilogy in general (for storyline purposes). By bringing Palpatine back in TROS, they broke the canon Sith Rule of Two, invalidated Dave Filoni’s meaningful end to the Obiwan vs Maul rivalry, disrespected George Lucas’ vision of his franchise, implied that Rey could not have been a powerful Jedi without being related to a strong force user, and made the story even more confusing and pitiful.

And J.J. Abrams had the nerve to admit there was no plan for the trilogy, like, yeah, it was obvious😐

One thing at the end of the Acolyte that puzzled me at first was the fact Vernestra and her Jedi team gave Sol a Viking burial on Brendok after they had retrieved the bodies of the murdered Jedi on Khofar for burial.

We see the same in Tales of the Jedi with the murdered Jedi Master.

Then I realized that it was a cover up.

Vernestra told the Senate Committee that Sol had taken his own life. If she had taken Sol’s body back to Coruscant for burial then there would have been an official autopsy and it would have revealed that he couldn’t have taken his own life and Vernestra couldn’t lie about the manner of his death.

Burning his body on a pond/lake would make it virtually impossible to retrieve any bones that hadn’t been destroyed in the fire and reveal the truth.

I’m reminded of the book Clone Wars: Wild Space where Padme and Obi-Wan admit to Bail Organa that they have known about the Sith being back for ten years and that every one who saw Maul on Naboo was sworn to secrecy to prevent panic.

Qui-Gon’s body being burned on Naboo helps solidify the idea of a cover up as it prevents too many people seeing that Qui-Gon has an obvious lightsaber injury to his gut.
