This is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood. It’s what keeps them talking to politicians and aiding their fight for survival in a legal sense. This is their best defense against anti-abortion/antiPP lobbying groups. They are not allowed to use money donated to PP for lobbying purposes. So 40 times the usual number of donations isn’t gonna be helpful if there’s no longer a PP to donate to. Money alone won’t save them. I chatted with a PP rep at the Women’s March about this. This is definitely something they need, but few are aware of.

Lawyers cost money, folks. Help them fund their own advocacy.

Seeking Loving Homes for Kittens in Central FL 

Well, it’s kitten season again. 

These lovely babies aren’t mine this time–I’m posting for a friend caring for the mother, who is a stray. These kittens were born April 1st  or 2nd and aren’t quite ready to leave their mom yet but will be in a few weeks. As far as I know they’re free to good homes but will come with no veterinary history and a strong recommendation to get them spayed/neutered as soon as they’re old enough. They will be litter trained and weaned onto solid foods as well. Currently they are staying comfortably out of the wild at an animal hospital but cannot stay for much longer. They have a small chance at getting a temporary foster but will need a forever home.

There are four adorable kittens, three girls and one boy. The calico, the tortie with the cute lil orange face, and the tabby with the white socks (who seems to be the runt of the litter) are all females; the lil tabby bud with the white face is a male. 

The mama is a total sweetheart and I believe she has already got a home lined up for her. Her kittens on the other hand do not and it would be a shame to have to let them go on the streets.

Talking to a friend about pictures and she mentioned that she often deletes ones of herself, as she doesn't like how she looks.  Which reminded me of the last holiday I spent with my mother, New Year's Day lunch 2015.  I asked her to pose for a picture, and she said no, she didn't like how she looked, and turned her back on me.  I took a picture of her back, if nothing else, capturing the purple streak in her hair.

She did let me take a picture later on that day, of her and Dad, so I've got one of her face.    

It wasn't the first time she had expressed dissatisfaction with her looks, and it made me sad and frustrated.  If we don't get to be happy with how we look at 76 years old, when do we?  

I've known other women who refuse to have pictures taken or duck out of the frame.  Never men, only women.

If someone who cares for you, loves you, wants to capture that you are part of their lives, and your insecurity is screaming at you that you're not good enough... stomp on that sucker.  Hard.  And smile for the camera.  Accept and appreciate that you are important to others, just as you are.
