My opinions of rwby
Watts: *gives Cinder a lecture that reeks of self-aggrandizement and hypocrisy*
FNDM: OMG GET HER ASS DOC! SHES SO SELF ENTITLED!
Yang: *Neglects her sister when she’s breaking down while going Gaga over Neko GF*
FNDM:(makes violent art against people who point it out)
I’m sorry, when was this!?
the fuckk you mean seeker's a father?
How's the video coming along, if I may ask?
Almost done! Just need to briefly cover a few more points and follow up a conclusion
hmmm... sooo far... the ship war between gay ships in 911... feel like its pretty tame in comparison to the ship war between ships in RWBY... like...
sure, EVERYONE INVOLVED in the ship war in 911 has either harassed the actors involved, made libelous statements about them, and all around bad takes and maybe all three and more.
Yes, both BuckTommy and Buddie shippers are guilty of this, don't you dare deny that.
The RWBY ship war on the other hand has escalated to the point that actual cosplayers were assaulted by other shippers, most especially by the fans of the flagship of the show RWBY, bumb/lebee... yes, the "fans" of the show has assaulted other fans of the show over ships.
BOTH ARE STILL HORRENDOUS BUT THE 911 SHIP WAR IS TAME IN COMPARISON.
Fandom Woes: Why people are writing AUs and the scam of “being original”
Many objections I have noticed of reimagined AUs(such as RWBY) is how "they don't resemble the property" and should be "their own thing", and the movie Across The Spider-Verse with the whole Spider-Men AUs and the criticism of multiverses in general.
Speaking from personal experience, there's a reason why they don't make their own thing. It's often because literary snobs have set these people up into a conundrum.
If you make a reimagined AU, they go out of their way to lecture "this does not resemble this thing anymore, make it its own thing."
And if you tweak it, the character and world designs, the names, anything to make it its own thing...
The snobs use greedy reductionism/nothing buttery to reduce it down to the inspirations and influences, especially when it came from a place of distaste and disagreement, and call it "derivative" and "butthurt thinly veiled fan fiction." and tell you to use different source material and "learn to be more original."
The snobs won't let you win.
So if you just keep trying to be “original” and you let these people define what that entails, your just letting others manipulate your creativity and your just dancing around for them like a monkey
You make an reimagined AU, its no longer "recognizable" and you get criticized
You make it its own thing, the inspirations, influences, and motives are pointed out and deemed "derivative" so you also get criticized
You're going to get criticized either way, so you might as well make a choice and stick with it.
And what's more infuriating is these sophists are guilty of hypocrisy
Let me give a personal example with the success of Kamen America, a superheroine I've come to love
She was created as an active disagreement how Captain Marvel was handled, combined with other elements such as Sailor Moon and various Tokusatsu
Once she gained popularity along with her Kamen Corps, many starting bashing her as a "porno captain marvel rip-off" because the creators dared to actively disagree with how a concept was handled, and I was lectured for my concept being "hostile" to RWBY which was born out my disagreement and distaste how its characters and ideas were handled
Yet these very people would be supporting the Evil Superman concept like Homelander and other characters of The Boys
and the Anti-Narnian His Dark Materials Trilogy, the former written by a guy who hates superheroes, and the latter a staunch atheist who can't stand CS Lewis and Christianity
Both who have said things about both subjects that are the textbook definition of "hostile" and yet nobody bats an eye.
Because its not wrong when "the right people" do it towards "the wrong things"
And the excuse they snobs say because these make the concepts objectively "more interesting" backed up with a whole "we-know-better-than-you" attitude which is leading me to hate that word "interesting"
The "Right People" can do whatever they want, but us "Wrong People" gotta follow all these rules and only have what the "Right People" tell us what we can have, how we create, and what we enjoy.
Then they turn around and lecture you about being "entitled" when the only thing your often guilty of being "entitled" to is your opinions and feelings, which last time I checked, people are entitled to.
Gonna do a video on the hypocritical complaints about people whining about au fan fiction that makes the source material "unrecognizable" such as Reimagined RWBY fanfiction or wag the finger of any OG work that recycles and revamps materials, especially out of disagreement and/or distaste, as "derivative fanfiction"
and I will hold all sides accountable for this
I will hold those who bash Kamen America as a "porno Captain Marvel Rip-Off" and defend Homelander as "Superman but more interesting"
As well as those who would probably bash the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen as "derivative fan fiction" if they were made their own things inspired by their source material instead.
This is a matter of principle, regardless who is doing it is an average Joe/Jane or a billion dollar megacorporation
The Allusion factor has been inconsistent with RWBY’s characters which stans flip-flop logic to justify it, I don’t want to hear that bullshit.
“It’s strictly allusion today, then the reverse tomorrow, then forwards again the next week.”
"Pyrrha had to die because of her allusion" actually, Pyrrha's whole character since day one has been about people assuming she has some big destiny when really she works harder than everyone else and even Cinder said "•"Hmm... people assume that she's fated for victory, when she's really taking fate into her own hands." In volume 2 so Pyrrha *not* doing a pyrric victory or whatever is more in line with her character.
But you know who does make sense to die for their friends in volume 3? Jaune: unlike Pyrrha he can actually call himself friends with Ruby so her activating silver eyes for him makes way more sense, and Jaune is based on a figure that literally became a myrter and was burned at the stake (hmm, which element does Cinder use?).
Why did you want iceberg to survive? /genq
I honestly saw the Snow White story in them but slightly altered among other things
Neptune being the prince with his last name means "Royalty" or "Kingliness" not to mention his brother is named Jupiter aka "Jove" who in medieval cosmology is the best planet, the planet that represent Royalty, Jollity, and and Magnanimity(in fact my AU takes cues from CS Lewis' works having Jovial themes)
But however unlike like the Prince in the fairy tales, he's not mister perfect, he's probably not rich(though in my au his family does own a relatively successful fishing company in his town), he stumbles, he's insecure, and seeing a higher class individual like Weiss, he feels ultimately out of his league, but Weiss tells him thats not why she likes him but rather his kindness and intelligence, and he tries his damnedest to do better and learns from his mistakes. Even pushing himself to overcome his hydrophobia for her sake.
My Two Cents: Hypocricy of "Being original"
Another editorial which I give my perspective of another factor why people are writing AU fan fictions and not original material all to the detriment of indie creators and to the benefit of big corporate entertainment The Factor? Hypocritical Literary Intellectuals who will criticize fanfic writers for making AUs "unrecognizable to the source material" and original works that recycle concepts, especially out of dissent as "derivative thinly veiled fan fiction" while supporting creatives who do the exact same thing. Because its different when "The Right People" do it to the "Wrong Things"
Fandom Woes: Restricting Creatives and Policing Potential Audiences
This is something of an Electric Boogaloo to my previous posts in my problems with Fandoms.
One major complaint I hear a lot from Fandoms wether be Star Wars, Warhammer, Marvel, DC, and so on, which is big companies changing these works fundamentally their unrecognizable and "fanfiction" and the solution is to GateKeep and tell others to do their own things, and plenty of YouTube personalities have pointed out the root of this problem
And this is a heavily opinionated post, so read at your own risk
But there is another factor which I briefly went over in one of my posts
A lot of literary snobs will have you dancing around between writing reimagined AU fanfic which they will chide you being "unrecognizable to the source material" and when you take what you liked and what you wanted and make it it's own thing they brand it as "derivative thinly veiled fanfiction" and will get all pissy if it takes jabs at the inspiration, all while they support creators do the exact same thing to things they don't like.
But also when you point out the potential audience, in my experience those "intellectuals" will proceed to insult them as uncultured and stupid unwashed masses or minority of freaks(and they often flip flop between the two inconsistently) who they can't stand breathing the same air as them.
For example, way back when I was younger and explained what I liked about Warhammer 40k and what I didn't like, most of the fandom used their brains and were civil with me about it in their disagreement.
But then some among the fandom told me I should just shut up and go watch Star Wars and Lord of The Rings.
And if I may repeat a point, Iconic Comics created Kamen America because they didn't like what was done with Captain Marvel, so they took what they liked about her and what they wanted, combined other elements to create Kamen America and The Kamen Corps
Which then people started screaming Kamen America was just a "porno Captain Marvel rip-off" all while supporting The Boys which has an evil Superman and nasty rendition of superheroes written by a guy who said hostile things about the genre
I expressed about what I liked about RWBY and what I didn't like and what I wanted and how I was gonna used what I liked and wanted to make an reimagined AU and OG work and got bashed as "leeching off Monty's work" and "RWBY Christian Propaganda" and I should just shut up and go watch Marvel or Disney, or if I do it, I gotta be apologetic and ashamed about it and accept the "Consequences" which to me, comes off as a threat.
Which these same people also cheer on the Anti-Narnian His Dark Materials Trilogy written by a guy who hates CS Lewis and Christianity with a passion.
These people don't want others to tamper around with what they love, but they don't want them to take what they like and what they wanted to make their own thing either, all while they cheer on those who do the same thing with stuff us "wrong people" like.
and I have a theory why this is.
The "Intellectual Elite" of Literature do not like it when "The Wrong People" take matters into their own hands, at least in ways they do not approve of, or unless the dissident does it while professing its ultimately nothing compared to what "the right people" do. Especially now that we are in a climate in which people on the fence are more receptive to indie voices.
These prigs want to lock things down and keep all dissent under their control to keep things nice and copacetic for their own ego.
And here's the reality check for these people, and I don't know how many I speak for
I do not give a pingas how "objective" and "educated" you are about these things, I and other creatives are under little to no obligation to regulate our creativity and force ourselves to change our feelings and keep our mouths shut and follow your little hypocritical rules because you think you know better than everyone else.
We are under little to no obligation to not take what we liked and what we wanted and not take jabs at the inspiration, especially when you all support creatives who do the exact same thing towards things you don't like.
We are under little to no obligation to "broaden our audiences" when in the past it left us getting the short end of the stick so many times when you refuse to do the same with what you create and enjoy.
And by your own logic, especially when you say "Its not gonna change canon or its 'trajectory'" then why do you need to come in and police everyone else and lecture how horrible we all are for liking things that you don't, while lecturing us about doing what your doing right now? If you were truly secure in what you knew to be the objective end-all-be-all, then you'd never had gone out of your way to open your mouth.
And if you decide to have us "own up to the consequences of our actions" which we both know is a veiled threat to punish people who do things you don't like, or be complacent when abuse happens towards those you disagree with, then I and a good number of people will fight back if it escalates to harassment, bypassing our "curations" and slander.
and I can hear these so-called critics say
"Well, what if you make your stuff and you turn out to be wrong?"
If we don't do so well, nothing happens, its not gonna be like Across The Spider-Verse where a big-ass hole is gonna rip through reality.
If we are wrong, it's our ass. This will be done with money out of our own pocket and at none of your expense.
Take your own advise
"It's not for you, its not gonna change canon or its trajectory, disengage the material and move on.”
Because that advise only works on Social Media, when you are fine with canon is going
Don’t forget 4
“Monty was secular Jesus Christ and his death was a secular crucifixion, so if you disagree with his vision in any aspect, you hate him as a person and will be punished for blasphemy.”

Snobs: Nobody finds that kind of a story/idea interesting, sorry.
Me: *points* there's people clamoring for this, so there is a potential audience.
Snobs: Those are wrong people, they are too stupid and crazy to know what good storytelling is. They should just go consume (approved thing)
sense you reblogged that one ask game, how is Ilia in your rewrite
Illia is basically to Blake and Adam what Whitley is to Winter and Weiss. The Third Sibling so to speak.
She has no romantic feelings for Blake, mostly because I don't cover her sexuality in this au and I feel like being another “love interest” for Blake keeps Illia from being her own character.
However she feels like Kahn is the only one who listens to her and just feels like Adam and Blake ignore her causing a bit of resentment. She feels like she's blended in with the crowd.
Hopefully a better use of her Chameleon imagery than a shallow "Closeted Gay" allegory.
one thing I noticed about Hunter's in RWBY, why don't they have guilds?
Not just speaking as a Fairy Tail fan, but if they aren't just glorified magic cops or firefighters or whatever, then why don't they have guilds to join and assist aforementioned support if called for(which to be fair, I expect a decent amount of huntsmen training is still required in case of Grimm-connected disasters or crimes)
It would give them more autonomy which could make some juicy drama between autonomy and working with the state ala Marvel Civil War
