Anyway, here comes Ariel to answer some questions!

1.) Do you know how to dance? If so, what kinds?

Yes, I was put in ballet classes as soon as I could toddle. I’m too short to be a professional ballerina, so I didn’t pursue it as a career, but I still love ballet. I incorporate it into my fighting style, on account of the fact that my magical girl costume comes with silver pointe shoes.

2.) What's the season you hate the most? What's your favorite season?

I despise summer. It’s hot and bright all the time, and it makes it hard to see the screen when I’m working. I like the winter way more. It’s dark all the time, and I live in Winchester, so I have 24 hour access to the cathedral, and the Christmas markets.

3.) Do you have any unusual fears?

My fans finding out my real name and address. My best friend, Raphael, learned the hard way that your fans are not your friends, and you cannot trust them with anything. Someone got hold of his address and leaked it online, and he had to move to avoid all of the stalkers he got. Girls would show up to his apartment with gifts and love letters, and scream to be let in. I don’t want that to happen to me…

This time, I’ll bring out Prince Benjamin from Peter Hart to answer these:

I was trained in classical ballroom dancing, though I do know how to tango quite well. I can waltz nicely, I’d like to think.

They’re all bloody awful in their own ways. Summers are sweltering, winters are rainy and gray. The trees in spring are hornier than Peter, and in the Fall they’re just as sappy. I guess if I had to pick the least horrible, fall isn’t too bad.

Oh dear. Sharks. And whales. Any large sea creature, mainly. (shivers)

Big Announcement! ^^

The first draft of Night Of The Blue Moon is now complete! My sapphic fantasy about Greek mythology and adult magical girls is now 1/3 of the way to being published (I’ll need to write a second and third draft, obviously), but the first draft is complete! Hooray for being able to vomit all of my raw ideas onto paper! ^^

If you want to read the entire first chapter of the first draft for free, DM me with your email to get added to my mailing list! I send newsletters whenever I have something big to announce, like a sale, and the releases of my books, plus, people on my mailing list get first dibs on my ARCs! Does she go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?: Fight, but only if she can’t resolve the situation without brute force. She has a pretty strong good cop mentality, and she’ll adjust her threat level according to the situation at hand

Does she come from a big family/is she a family oriented person?: She’s an only child, and she’s quite close with her mother, but not so much with her father. Her father doesn’t see her very often due to living in Lesbos for most of the year What animal represents her best?: Black swan

A smell she dislikes: The smell of death. You know how the recently deceased have a sickly sweet smell? That’s how everything naturally smells in the Underworld

How would a stranger describe her?: Oh, Ariel? I didn’t know that she had a name. She doesn’t talk much, unless she’s talking to Solana. She donates a lot to the food bank, though, and we appreciate her thoughtful donations

Is she a night owl or a morning bird?: Night owl, 100%. She doesn’t like going out in direct sunlight

A flavor she hates and a flavor she loves: Ariel hates tea, except for matcha, and even then, she prefers it in boba or desserts instead of drinking it straight. She’s very fond of matcha choux au craquelin, especially when filled white white chocolate pastry cream

Does she have any hobbies?: Ballet and video games. She adores Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing

Boom! Surprise party! How does she react to surprises?: She hates them. She hates being interrupted while working, and she doesn’t like parties at all. If someone threw her a surprise party, she’d immediately leave

I’d refuse, of course. Not only that, but I would watch him die without intervening so as not to grant him the mercy of a swift death. I’d love to see Brooklyn Steadman choke to death on his own blood as he cries for help that will never come. I should ask Hades to make that Brooklyn’s punishment in Tartarus. Dying slowly and painfully over and over is the least that he deserves…

2.) Would you ask your enemy for help?

No, not that he would help me even if I made the astonishingly stupid mistake of asking.

I always think before I act. I will not act, or even speak without thinking about the consequences it will have for me.

guys if your wip were to be made into a movie/play/tv series and you could star in it. who would you play and why?

Thanks for the tag! Here we go! I’m currently working on Night Of The Blue Moon, which is the first in a two-book series about adult magical girls who fight with powers given to them by the Greek titans. It’s an urban fantasy romance which will deal with some pretty heavy topics, such as police and political corruption, as well as sexual assault and workplace abuse. I like to think of it as a gay adult Miraculous Ladybug x Percy Jackson crossover (Both main characters are women, and they’re in love but don’t know it. They’re oblivious to each other’s secret identities, which leads to some love square shenanigans…). Anyway, Night Of The Blue Moon will be the first book in the series, and the main villain will be Orpheus, who is killing people and harvesting their souls in an attempt to buy his son back from the dead. The second book’s main villain will be Eunomia Morrigan, a nurse who is using Thanatos’s powers to kill the patients she doesn’t want to treat. I don’t have a title for the second book yet, but it will likely come out after I’ve published Blood On A Yellow Rose, a standalone work unrelated to Night Of The Blue Moon. Blood On A Yellow Rose is going to be about an aromantic vampire doctor who befriends an also aromantic terminally ill human patient who is dying alone due to their friends abandoning them.

Thanks for the tag! Tenshi sure seems interested in Greek Mythology ehehe~ So, I’m going to bring up Ariel to answer these, and she has met the titans and some of the gods, and she knows that Greek Mythology is real:

1.) What never fails to make you laugh?

The memory of Brooklyn’s terrified screams as he was dragged off to Tartarus. Whatever they’re doing to him down there, I hope it’s worse than what they’re doing to Tantalus and Sisyphus combined. Brooklyn deserves it for what he did to me all of those years ago. He ruined my life, and my career plans.

2.) How can you tell if you’ll get along with someone?

If we have things in common, and if they’re willing to keep their mouth shut about any personal information that we share. I hate blabbermouths who go around parroting everything that they hear. People like that put people like me in danger.

3.) Do you prefer sweet, savory, sour, or salty snacks?

I prefer sweets, but I’m also partial to salty foods. My favorite food is matcha cream puffs, but I also like Cheshire cheese and crackers.

I always wanted to learn to drive! Ita looks soooooo cool in his sports car! But….he looked a little nervous when I brought up the idea….haha. “Let’s start in a parking lot.” He told me. I hope I don’t scare him…..

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?

I’d choose to be a human so my brothers would stop hunting me. I love my life on Earth! Ita is so nice; I help him cook, he takes me shopping, we watch movies together (except the scary ones—they make me hide my face in his shirt). It feels so….relaxing….compared to what my role is now. Mmmm….to live a simpler life would be….nice.

Anything with Ita~! I’ve made such great memories here on earth that I’m soaking it all up like the sun! —OH! Kunio:

1.) Kunio is a heavy drinker with a ridiculously high alcohol tolerance. He prefers expensive cocktails, as cheap alcohol, especially cheap wine, reminds him too much of his mother. He’s partial to vodka martinis, but also enjoys appletinis and yellow birds

2.) He’s neither a cat person nor a dog person—He’s a bird person. If you get him talking about his pet parakeet, Lucky, he will not shut up about him. He loves his foul-mouthed little parakeet as if he’s his child

3.) He was terrified of women as a child, and he got in a lot of trouble at school because he would yell at female teachers and throw chairs at them when they approached him in an attempt to get them to back off, as he was scared that they would hit him or lock him in the closet like his mother did. To this day, he will not let any women touch him, not even his female friends

4.) He wants to get into sport climbing, and one of the reasons why is because he wants to build some muscle. He wants to be able to carry Nathaniel bridal style

Nathaniel:

1.) Nathaniel is canonically demiromantic. He initially thought that he was aromantic, but since he got moved around a lot due to being in foster care, he never got close enough to anyone to develop a crush on them, that was, until he met Theo, his ex, and the only boyfriend he has had aside from his current boyfriend, Kunio

2.) Nathaniel is a monogamous hoe, if that makes any sense. He’s a prude when he’s single, but when he gets locked down, he’s a freak in bed. The things he’s into would make even the most hardcore fanfiction writer blush

3.) Nathaniel’s abdomen is covered in scars. One is from his kidney transplant, and the others are from self-harming in the months leading up to his suicide attempt. The suicide attempt is the reason why he needed a kidney transplant

4.) Nathaniel’s dream home is a Victorian house out in the country. He dreams of cultivating a rose garden and walking to a nearby village to buy freshly baked bread from a local bakery every morning

Ariel:

1.) Ariel loves magical girl anime, and her favorite anime is Precure. Her favorite seasons are Go! Princess Precure, Heartcatch Precure, and Fresh Pretty Cure, in that order. Precure is the reason why Ariel dreamt of becoming a magical girl all throughout her teenage years and in her early 20s. Now that she’s a magical girl, she will criticise magical girl anime for their inaccuracies about what being a magical girl is really like

2.) She despises the show Friends, as she believes it to have tarnished the name of her benefactor, Phoebe. She hates that when most people hear the name Phoebe, they think of a character from a mediocre 90s sitcom, and not the titan of prophecy and intellect

3.) Ariel is a surprisingly good swimmer, and her preferred stroke is butterfly. Weirdly, she finds it much easier than breast stroke or front crawl

1.) Solana doesn’t have a good relationship with either of her parents. Her dad was never in the picture, and her mom is extremely judgemental and overbearing. She calls often, but Solana rarely, if ever returns her calls

2.) She loves romance novels, especially friends to lovers romance novels. If the MCs don’t adore each other right from the start, she will not be interested. Conversely, she hates enemies to lovers books, and avoids everything containing that trope like the plague

3.) Solana is graysexual. She’s ok with sex every once in a while, but could honestly go the rest of her life without ever having sex again, and she rarely experiences sexual attraction.

4.) Her all-time favorite games are Black Star and Oshi, both of which were created by Ariel, but she doesn’t know that until just after the halfway point of the story…

Let’s start with Peter Hart

Facts about Peter:

Shot himself through the back of his calf as a teenager. He got scolded relentlessly for it by Davey and Georgie who were quick to patch him up.

Before getting with Benjamin, I put Peter down as “treasuresexual” Yeah. Really. 😂He didn’t have any eyes for anyone other than Benjamin, making Peter canonically homosexual.

His moniker “Peter The Golden” holds many meanings. To rival pirates and ports, it’s on account of his golden hair and black-and-gold aesthetic. To his crew family, he is “The Golden Hart”

Peter was always a rascal from early youth to adulthood. Often times, Peter would get caught and arrested for pickpocketing residents in his hometown. Sometimes, Officer Ralph would bring Peter home to his scolding mother in metal cuffs. Other times, Peter spent the night in the clink. Due to his mischief, Officer Ralph and Mary Hart became acquainted with each other often, and eventually got together.

Facts about Benjamin:

Has an insanely high alcohol tolerance. He got used to the wine and frivolities of parliament when he was around all the royals.

Is bilingual in English and French. He can hold conversation with another bilingual crewmate Jacques du Lorraine. He’s also hurled insults at Peter in fluent French, causing Jacques to nearly double over in laughter.

Is the shortest and smallest member of The Golden Phoenix Gang. Most members of the crew are around Peter’s height of 196-199cm, though with VASTLY different builds (Davey has more of a dad bod, and Peter is just ripped). Benji, on the other hand, rests at 170cm with a very thin build. Canonically, he is a twink.

Is both the luckiest and unluckiest member of The Golden Phoenix Gang. In a tabletop game, he would either roll 1s or 20s. Nothing in between 😂

Moving on to YWIMC:

Facts about Noah:

Is originally from a small farm town in Georgia. He took voice lesson training to try and hide his southern accent, but when Noah lets his guard down and gets comfortable, it can sometimes slip through.

Double majoring in History and Architecture. He’s 23 and already in grad school, which should say a thing or two with how hard he works himself and almost can work off of fumes alone

Has Autism Spectrum Disorder (level 1). This is canon and heavily alluded in the story from his sensory processing difficulties, to his aversion to crowds, social anxiety, hyper focus on his studies, special interest in bridges and architecture, difficulties in expressing emotions, and finding the comfort of home to be his most productive and happiest space. ASD can be expressed differently in other people (I have it), so I pulled from my own experiences to write Noah here.

Facts about Ali:

Ali had a rich father who tried to get him to be a sultan/powerful influential figure in Saudi Arabia. His father arranged a marriage for Ali, who fled the day of.

Is a practicing Muslim. He is halal, observes Ramadan, and yes—prays from the Quran. A lot of his character is identity struggles; his religion says that his sexuality is sinful, but that’s how Ali was born, and that’s what makes Ali happy. This creates an internal conflict with how he tries suppressing his desires, and often wonders if he should have sacrificed his own happiness to appease his father, and his god. This dichotomy is very complicated, and has been a challenge to write….but he will get a happy ending with Noah 👍

Has had previous masters with wicked hearts die horrific and ironic deaths. For example, one of his masters wished for 70 wives who were all virgins. His death? Stabbed 70 times while he slept, each wife stabbing him once. Another master wished for glorious fame and fortune, only for dissenters to stone him to death. Ever heard of the tale of The Monkey’s Paw? That applies here.

Here’s a snippet from Night Of The Blue Moon, my wlw fantasy novel about adult magical girls!

“I have to go. I have a lot to do tomorrow.”

“What is it that you can’t tell me?” Solana demanded, “Why can’t you tell me?”

“I said I have to go. Stop pushing me for an answer, because I don’t know you well enough to have this conversation with you right now.”

“Why won’t you answer me? Don’t you trust me?” Solana cried, “I’m supposed to be your partner aren’t I? Why can’t you trust me?!”

“It’s not because I don’t trust you, it’s because I don’t want to have this conversation tonight. I can’t do it.”

“Why can’t you? Why do you feel the need to push me away”--

Solana stopped dead in her tracks when Blue Moon looked back at her. Tears were streaming down her face. The look in Blue Moon’s eyes was almost one of betrayal, like she’d broken some unspoken rule between them. 

“I…I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked,” Solana eventually said, “We can talk about it when you want to talk about it. Or we could just never speak of this again, and”--

“I’m leaving now. I will see you whenever we’re needed next,” Blue Moon said coldly, turning away from her, “Go home before it gets too late.”

Solana swallowed hard, knowing that she’d fucked up big time, and that it would take a long time for their…Whatever the fuck it was, to recover from this. Blue Moon was in no mood to forgive her, not that she deserved it right now. “Right. Get home safe,” she called after her, though was almost certain that Blue Moon wasn’t listening.

I had it in my head that because we’re partners, we should be able to trust each other with everything, but the truth is, we don’t really know each other,” she sighed, “We don’t know anything about each other. I shouldn’t have pushed you to tell me why Eurydice bothered you so much when I’m pretty much a stranger to you. It’s no wonder that you didn’t trust me.”

Ariel sighed deeply, turning away from her. “It’s not that I don’t trust you. I just wasn’t ready to tell you that night,” she eventually said, “I don’t know if I can tell you now. It's not something that I enjoy talking about.”

7/10. You know what, I actually think Kunio would have a decent chance in The Hunger Games. He’s used to having to run, hide, and muffle his footsteps, as well as going days without food. He’ll absolutely kill to defend himself if he has to, and he’ll have no qualms about doing it. If he won, he’d probably win the same way that the District 6 victors won—By hiding until everyone else was dead

Red Sun’s cheeks flushed. “Why do you say that?”

“Because you sound like you’re describing a girl who already exists instead of some hypothetical dream girl,” she scoffed, “I won’t make you tell me anything else about her if you don’t want to. I know it can be embarrassing to talk about things like this.”

Red Sun sighed, clenching her fists. “Ok, yeah, you’re right, there’s a girl I like. She doesn’t talk much, but she’s one of the nicest people I know. I feel like I can trust her with anything,” she sighed, “Sometimes I feel like she knows me better than I know myself, because she always sees right through me. She always sees through my fake smiles, and encourages me to say what I’m really thinking.”

She looked back at Ariel, tucking one of her bangs behind her ear. “You’re a little bit like her, Blue Moon. You saw right through me, just like she does.”

Ariel stifled a laugh. “Is that so?”

“Yeah. I mean, I don’t think that you are her, so don’t freak out, but like…You’re crush-worthy, is what I’m trying to say, I guess,” she said quickly, as though making it up ok the spot, “If people knew that we existed, I bet the internet would be thirsting over you hard.” 

Ariel couldn’t hold back her laughter this time. “That sounds like people would fantasise about fucking me rather than dating me,” she scoffed, folding her arms.

We tremble as one body, cutting through the daze; hooves endlessly plunging in the knee-deep maze. Chasing dim city lanterns so far from this cold plain; I bury my frostnip fingers into thick dark mane. Faster still my horse gallops and the lights grow bright; I cling hard to the saddle long through the frosty night. At last, we stop in tinkling ice, this nature song so sweet; mare’s breath hard and hot, so warm within the sleet. Protector and companion, heart-melting brown eyes; savior, soldier, navigator, as beautiful as wise.”

Kunio: Easily my granddad’s kiritanpo nabe. The recipe has been in his side of the family for well over a hundred years, and for good reason, it’s delicious, and it really hits the spot on a cold day, plus it’s a great way to use up leftover kiritanpo. Slice them into bite-sized pieces, and simmer them in chicken bone broth with ginger, chicken thighs, mushrooms, parsley, and burdock root…Shit, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it…

what is an experience (good or bad) that has turned you off or on to a food completely?

Ariel: The matcha choux au craquelin from Sugar Berry. The first time I went to Sugar Berry, it was really late, I hadn’t eaten all day, and the only things they had left were matcha cream puffs and coffee mousse cakes. I hate coffee so I got a matcha choux au craquelin, and it was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. The pastry was soft, but it was covered in a buttery matcha crumb that reminded me of crumble topping, and inside was matcha pastry cream, strawberries, and the whole thing was topped off with swirls of chantilly cream and a white chocolate drizzle. I go to Sugar Berry once a week to get a matcha choux au craquelin now, and whenever my girlfriend visits, she brings me at least three.

Solana: And that’s because if I don’t bring you proper food, you won’t eat a proper meal the next day, babe. I know that cream puffs aren’t a proper meal, but they’re probably better for you than three cans of rock star and a packet of instant ramen…

Ariel: True…

if you could eliminate one piece of produce, meat, dairy or sweets off the earth what would it be?

Kunio: Green peppers can get fucked, in a bad way. Last time I tried to eat one, I threw up. That and my granddad embarrassed himself in public one time because of green peppers. He tried to buy some at a farmers market, but he didn’t know the English word for green pepper, so he got some funny looks when he asked if they had ピーマン…(Piiman)

and dessert is normally saved for last, but if you could what would you order for your entree at a restaurant?

Ariel: I’d skip the entreè and go straight for dessert. I’m not big on savory foods. I prefer sweets, and if I could I’d eat sweets for every meal.

Nathaniel: One, I’ve never had the time, two, my boyfriend cooks all of our meals, and three, the last time I tried to cook something all by myself, I set off the smoke alarm…

Kunio: I think you’d better stay out of the kitchen unless I’m around to help you, babe. I’m the one who wears the chef’s hat in this relationship, and for good reason…

Ali’s baklava. It’s got a flaky, buttery crust that just melts on your tongue, a thin layer of chocolate and hazelnut spread between the sheets of sweet dough, topped with a thin drizzle of hot, chocolate syrup and powdered sugar. Sometimes, he adds a few sliced banana to it and the flavor is, mmmm. ✨-Noah (YWIMC)

what is an experience (good or bad) that has turned you off or on to a food completely?

Oh God, I cringe at the memory….Harley had me go fishing for our meal once, and the squish of fish fry between my fingers is a feeling I will not soon forget. The smell of raw fish, bait, rust from the sea-weathered equipment. Ugh. I’ll stick with potatoes and fruit, thank you very much. I know Peter will try to force me to eat a protein, but I can’t stomach looking at the face of a dead fish. Mmmm…perhaps if it was in a stew…..-Benjamin (Peter Hart)

Thanks for the tag! I’ve always wondered how Blue Moon and Red Sun would look as playable characters in a fighting game, so here we go with them!

Ariel/Blue Moon:

Health: 10

Strength: 5

Speed: 10

Armor: 7

Cunning: 8

Special attack: Lunar Clarification-Ariel launches a full moon which shoots lasers in all directions. The attack has a high damage output and is very difficult to avoid. Increases Ariel’s speed every time it is used, and the attack has 10% chance of temporarily blinding the opponent.

Weakness: Legs. Her fighting style requires a lot of movement, so if she becomes immobilised for any reason, she’ll be easier to defeat.

Idle animation: Standing in first position (Heels together, straight legged) with her torch held in front of her chest with her right hand and her left hand behind her back. If no input after five seconds, she’ll rise up en pointe and swing her torch, but no attack animation will play.

Solana/Red Sun:

Health: 8

Strength: 7

Speed: 5

Armor: 10

Cunning: 5

Special Attack: Absolute Radiance—Solana plucks the strings of her lyre from right to left, creating golden suns which explode upon contact with the opponent. High damage output with a guaranteed critical hit every time it lands. Has a 10% chance of temporarily stunning the opponent.

Weakness: Upper body/Anything that could cause her to drop her lyre.

Idle Animation: Standing with her lyre balanced on her hip with both hands. If no input after five seconds, she tucks one of her bangs behind her ear.

Weakness: Shoulder/face shots

Idle animation: one hand on hip, other loosely at side. Occasionally takes out flintlock and twirls with embellishments, before putting it back in the holster. Secondary animation, grins as a sun sparkle glints off his teeth.

Benjamin

Health: 5

Strength: 6

Speed: 10

Armor: 4

Cunning: 6

Special Attack: “Lucky Shot”— Upon firing his gun, has a 25% chance to crit with damage equaling 200% of his current strength. Uses half SP meter to use. Strength gradually increases by intervals of 0.5 for every 15 seconds in the current round. Resets at the end of each round.

Weakness: Legs/Leg sweeps

Idle animation: Arms crossed, uses one hand to occasionally flip loose strand of hair away from face. Resting bitch face, perpetually looks pissed off. Taps foot impatiently if no input after 10 seconds.
