Beneath Their Masks Chapter 22 is Up!
Sorry it's so late. Better late than never? I guess?? Is it weird that I feel like these chapters are getting worse as time goes on? Maybe I'm just not vibing with the prompts or anything, but I dunno... Definitely not a good way to sell you on this chapter, but like, idk.
“Welcome to Akira Kurusu’s first official coffee workshop. We’re glad you all could make it.” Akira said, looking a little too proud of himself.
As a kind gesture, Akira had volunteered some of his time and expertise to show the Niijima household how to make a decent cup of coffee. After all, the best kinds of Christmas gifts were the ones you could actually use, right? …Ignoring that Christmas was months ago and Akira was a little busy being in prison to give anyone anything.
“Akira, we’re just hanging out. You don’t need to make this an official anything. ” Ann said, rubbing her eyes.
“Ok, fine, I’m embellishing a little. Sue me.”
“Is that turn of phrase in poor taste?” Sae said. “I mean, you did get sued. That’s why you’re even in Tokyo to begin with.”
“It’s not if I’m the one who says it. That's how it works.“
“I can’t believe we’re already off track…” Makoto said under her breath.
“I have to ask, though. Why am I here again?” Sae said, chin resting on her hand. “While I appreciate the gesture, I already know how to make coffee.”
“While that may be true, Sae-san, you still insist on using that single serve coffee maker and I can’t abide by that.” Akira said, shuddering at the thought. “I was like you, once. Blind. Blind to the wonders of well-made coffee and the effects it has on the soul.”
Sae blinked.
“Also, you were already here. Makoto was the one who asked me to show her, but I don’t mind a larger audience.”
“The coffee I make helps keep me awake, so I don’t think there’s any issue with it.”
“Caffeine doesn’t work on me, so the taste is pretty important.” Akira deadpanned. “Besides, knowing how to make good coffee is paramount to a good relationship…at least, that’s what Sojiro tells me. Basically, this is like one of those couples painting classes. Except you get to have something to drink afterwards.”
“Yusuke would beg to differ.” Ann pointed out.
“Just because Yusuke accidentally drinks paint water sometimes, that doesn’t make it alright. The opposite is true, in fact.” Akira said, shaking his head.

Only a month late. I've got about two chapters left until I'm done, but I figured I ought to post some of the ones I already have ready right now instead of posting them all at once. That's big brain. I think. I dunno. Enjoy?
Having returned from visiting the Niijima sister’s parents at the cemetery, Makoto and Ann joined Sae and Mitsuru for dinner. It was a light affair, consisting of grilled fish and rice, with miso soup on the side. There was also an expensive looking bottle of wine and two wine glasses for Sae and Mitsuru. Sae had protested at opening such a bottle, to which Mitsuru glanced at it and said it wasn’t that expensive. Sae gave her a look that Makoto couldn’t place, and Mitsuru just smiled, pulling the cork out with the corkscrew as she did.
“Mitsuru, you never told me you could cook.” Sae said, surprised at the spread she had prepared.
“It never came up. Just something I picked up when I was in high school. Friends of mine taught me some things here and there after school in our dorm’s kitchen.” Mitsuru said, a content smile on her face. She had her hair up in a high bun, along with an apron with a floral pattern on it, faded from years of countless washings. “That would have been…oh, goodness, eight years ago? Time sure flies, doesn’t it?”

-After you all see Minako one last time at graduation day, you decide to move out of the dorms. It simply brought too much pain being there now.
-Mitsuru had to move out too due to graduating, but she soon hears from everyone else still there that you had moved out too despite not having graduated yet.
-She's rather confused at first but after a few seconds it clicks in her head. It was where you'd met Minako, shared so many memories with her.
-Using her position, it's not hard for Mitsuru to find your address. Your parent(s)/guardian(s) recognize her, naturally and gladly let her in, telling her you've been locking yourself in your room much more than usual.
-She knocks gently on your door before asking to come in. Recognizing who it is you let her. Her eyes immediately soften upon seeing you. You had...well, you'd definitely seen better days, to put it politely.
-Your eyes were red from crying and sunken from not being able to sleep, your hair was a mess, and your room in general was starting to look closer to Junpei's than she would've liked.
-It immediately sets in just how delicate of a situation this truly is. Mitsuru gently, and with some hesitation takes a seat next to you on your bed, settling a hand on your shoulder.
-Minako was incredibly important to her too and she feels bad enough as it is. She can't imagine just how awful you have it as her S/O.
-Her words are soft and gentle, trying to come up with anything that could help soothe the pain deep in the depths of your soul. Minako knew what she was doing when she sacrificed herself, she did it for the good of the world, and so that the people she loved could live their lives to the fullest, even if it was without her.
-She's confident in saying you of all people were at the forefront of her mind when she made her choice, that it was for you more than anybody else. You shouldn't take the gift she'd given you for granted, and do what you wish to do with the time you have.
-She says she's had an idea. a way to honor what Minako did, to continue the work of S.E.E.S where she'd left off, and she'd really appreciate it if you'd join, and she's certain Minako would as well. Having said everything she wanted to say, she takes her leave and gives you some privacy and space to mull over everything she's told you, letting you know that now matter how busy she is, she'll be free to talk anytime.
-Yukari notices a rather drastic change in you after Mitsuru and Akihiko's graduation. You're a lot more melancholy in mood overall and far less talkative.
-Hell, she barely even sees you. You spend most of your time in Minako's dorm nowadays, only coming out to eat and use the bathroom. If you're a guy she'd normally be the first to chase you out of a girl's dorm, but considering the circumstances she doesn't have the heart to do it.
-Eventually she's had enough of this. She enters the room herself and stops in her tracks. If she were to say honestly you looked awful. Thankfully she had the tact to not actually say that to your face.
-Yukari doesn't really know what to do to comfort someone grieving over their dead girlfriend, so she decides to keep it honest.
-She's pretty fed up wit seeing you like this, she'll say that much to you. This wasn't what Minako died for, for you to mope about in regret and not get over a decision that she made for herself.
-If this was really how you wanted to spend your time, then you weren't making the best of your life, and by extension you weren't honoring what Minako wanted you and everyone else to do, to make the most out of the gift of life they were lucky to have.
-Yukari's words are a bit on the harsher side, but it's a much needed wake-up slap. You realize she's right, Minako didn't die so you could spend the rest of your days moping about.
-With a deep sigh, you take your first real steps out of Minako's dorm in a while, much to Yukari's satisfaction. You're now on the first real steps to recovery.
-It's not going to be an easy road, and probably one you'll never fully complete in your lifetime, but she'll be there with you every step of the way, even if she isn't Minako.
-After the graduation event at Gekkoukan, Fuuka started seeing you far less than before. You'd avoid everyone in class after the new year started, barely talked, and as soon as school was over you'd head straight back to your dorm.
-Of course even for her it was easy to understand. Minako was your girlfriend. She'd meant more to you than she did to everyone else, realistically speaking.
-That being said, she really hated seeing you like this. It reminded her all too much of herself before she joined S.E.E.S. She didn't know what, but she had to do something.
-Just from the way she knocked on the door gently and shyly, you immediately knew who it was, telling her to come in. You didn't have the heart to chase her away.
-Honestly Fuuka hadn't thought she'd get this far, so she doesn't really know what to do. Once she opens the door she sees you laying down in your bed looking at something on your phone.
-Taking a quick peek at the screen she's met with a picture of you and Minako together, smiling without a care in the world. You seemed to be going through the seemingly hundreds of pictures of you two together, and there was no mistaking the tear tracks on your face.
-Fuuka was never really the best with words, but she knew she had to at least try. The best she had was to speak honestly about the situation.
-She gets how you feel, she really does. Minako was the one to give her the confidence she does now. Losing someone who did so much for you wasn't easy on either of you, or anyone else on the team.
-Fuuka didn't want you to fall into the same old habits she did. Instead of mourning over the fact she's gone while you waste your life away, she encourages you to instead remember the good times you had, those better days together where just being with her was enough to put a smile on your face and lift your spirits.
-It's a simple message, but you can feel how heartfelt and earnest she says this all with, and you figure she as a point. Minako wanted you to be happy, even if she wasn't there with you anymore. You should go do what you wanted to do with her, knowing she'd be there to watch you all the way.
-Fuuka's just glad she was able to do at least something for you. Maybe by doing this she repaid the debt she felt she owed to Minako in cheering up her S/O, at least a little bit.
Request (P3): For their birthdays, Minako and Mitsuru's S/O's give them a ring that matches their favorite colors.
Best girl bullshit, go.
-Even before you started dating Minako, it's not hard to figure out what her favorite color is. Pink manages to sneak into every single one of her outfits and just about everything she owns.
-You're pressed for ideas for whatever reason so you decide a ring with a nice pink gemstone is the best way to go here. A nice rose quartz or pink amethyst is...affordable enough.
-One the day of, you take her out to eat, wherever she wants, as long as the price is within reason. You're still a high school student.
-In general you two have a nice hangout date at the Paulownia mall, doing whatever catches your or her eye. When the day has blazed by and the sun sets, signaling it's time to head home.
-You manage to remember at the last minute that you'd gotten her something, making you call out to stop her before she heads to her dorm, only for her to turn around and see the ring.
-Minako gasps audibly, clearly not expecting something so intricate and beautiful, however cheesy it may be.
-Next thing you know she's got you in a hug threatening to expel all the air from your lungs saying thank you over and over again as if you're about to disappear if she lets go.
-She immediately puts the ring on and silently vows to herself to never take it off like it's some kind of wedding ring. Probably treats it like one too until you get her one for real someday.
-Mitsuru is...a lot harder to impress on a date at first glance. Having been born into wealth as massive as she has tends to give off that kind of vibe.
-Of course you know better than that, being her S/O but the pressure isn't entirely gone, unfortunately. It's pretty easy to get into your own head when it comes to someone like Mitsuru.
-You do come up with something though. You find a nice ring in a window display while walking home one day embedded with a very beautiful shade of red that immediately brings Mitsuru to mind. Perfect.
-You manage somehow to save up enough money to get the ring and all that's left is...just about everything else. Fantastic.
-You eventually decide on something she's never really had before, something only you can give. You admit you can never impress her externally with something fancy, so the best option is something more intimate, which she pretty much never got growing up.
-After school it's cuddling up in a blanket with an old classic movie she'd probably never heard of before. A very cozy atmosphere she'd pretty much never experienced before meeting you.
-Of course, to top it all off, your present her with the ring afterward. It's nowhere near as extravagant or photogenic as something she could just buy herself, but the fact that it comes from you makes it extra special.
She's much more reserved than Minako in expressing her thanks, but she is by no means any less grateful, the smile she can't seem to wipe off her face and the way she pressed her body further into you is clear proof of that.
Orie, Wagner, and Mitsuru with an s/o that randomly picks them up?
We live for high class women being flustered when they're shown affection.
-Straight up, Orie is just the type that looks extremely liftable, especially in casual attire. Something you catch onto very quickly.
-You do have the decency to at least not do it out in public most of the time, but occasionally you just can't help yourself, like the first time you ended up doing so.
-She'd managed to finally get a day off between Licht Kreis duties and school, inviting you for a night out on the town to explore and do whatever. She was still relatively new to Kanzakai so this was the best possible opportunity to learn about everything that was around.
-You'd been out for quite a long time and it was obvious you had much more stamina then her, she was looking quite drained despite all the fun you'd had. So you got the brilliant idea of picking her up bridal style out of nowhere.
-Her face immediately turns crimson as she asks you what in the world are you doing, and only gets even more embarrassed as you say you're carrying her back to her place since you can't let the lady be tired. She hides her face in your chest the entire way through and prays that nobody recognizes her.
-As much as she'll deny it, she definitely wouldn't mind if you did this again. Just...not in front of her friends. Especially Kaguya, she's showing no mercy to the poor girl.
-Honestly, you started doing this as a joke more than anything. The way Wagner carried herself was like a high and mighty princess so you only thought it was appropriate to treat her as such.
-As she was playfully gloating about herself you then suddenly lifted her up off the ground, causing a strong, immediate reaction out of her.
-She immediately makes her startled annoyance very known, loudly reprimanding you and asking what the hell you think you're doing. That's about what you expected, but being lucky enough to have become her S/O, you know you're not in any actual danger.
-She won't really do anything really as long as you don't do this in public. For the love of god, do not do this when other people can see.
-It becomes...acceptable over time as you do it more. She at least does recognize the fact that you do it out of affection and admiration for her which is a flattering thought.
-She'll probably still act like a complete tsundere about it but she'll never make any actual moves to stop you, secretly reveling in the attention she gets from you.
-Mitsuru is normally a very professional, put-together woman. The way she holds herself brings about both admiration and intimidation depending on the situation. However you have the rare privilege of being able to see this facade drop when she doesn't need it.
-You wanted to test the waters so to speak on what would happen when you were more direct with your affection, and what was more direct than picking someone up bridal style.
-She initially threatens to execute you, though it seems more reflexive than an actual serious threat. You knew better obviously, but you put her down for now.
-This was doing nothing to stop you from doing this in the future of course, much to her chagrin. Doubly so if the rest of S.E.E.S happened to see you do this. She's at a loss for words as the panic sets in.
-If you want the best reactions, do it away from prying eyes. Her face will turn almost as red as her hair before she eventually settles into it, embracing your warmth and presence with a sigh of content. She feels safe with you, more than with anyone else.

I have nothing clever to say here. Uhh...sorry about the inactivity? I finally bought Gigantic and was re-living my middle school years of playing the shit out of it so that's been distracting me.
-Getting Mitsuru to open up to intimacy is quite the undertaking, to say the least. Out of everyone here she's the hardest to crack due to a previous relationship that wasn't exactly ideal to say the least.
-Frankly she probably doesn't even get completely comfortable with the idea of 'making out' until after the events of P3. Luckily she does manage to grow in your relationship and get much more confident.
-A particularly long, draining day of running the Shadow Operatives has Mitsuru exhausted and she looks forward to nothing more than having some alone time with you to recharge.
-She never once thought of intimacy with her old fiance (I can't add accents on Tumblr, ffs), so she's completely inexperienced despite being the one who's not in their first relationship here.
-After so long of her being averse to intimacy you're more than happy to attempt it. However just as you two are inches apart there's a knock on the door.
-It's...Akihiko, coming to give his reports for the day. Thankfully he's pretty romantically clueless so it's easy enough to trick him that you two weren't doing anything important. Though that also lead him to interrupting you two.
-Oh well, there's always next time.
-Yukiko might not look it, but she as a bit of a rebellious streak hidden deep inside her, and that tends to come out the most when it comes to dating.
-It's nothing too crazy of course, but she can't help but feel that sense of adventure, of exploring what it truly means to be in love with someone else.
-Of course if anyone else were to find out she'd probably drop dead on the spot but it's something you'll need to accept as part of her if you wanna keep this relationship going.
-That being said, eventually the time we'll come when she wants to try making out, namely when the Investigation Team takes a visit to the Amagi Inn. When everyone's about to wind down for the night and go to sleep she drags you off somewhere private.
-It's about to start getting really steamy when you suddenly hear footsteps behind you and both your hearts simultaneously stop. It's Yu. He was looking for Yukiko to ask where the bathrooms were, certainly not expecting to find you two getting frisky.
-At least he acts cool about it. He's perfectly capable of ignoring what just happened and acting like he didn't interrupt anything important, and truthfully, you'd both rather it be him than anyone else. Only God knows if it was Teddie what that stupid bear would do...
-Out of all the ladies so far, Makoto is by far the most romantically inept, and that's definitely saying something. She never even thought about dating until you came along because of how much importance she placed on studies due to her sister and father.
-It's only when she hears about the process of making out (how she does is up to you), does she want to try it, but there's no way in hell she has the confidence to do so.
-Chances are, you're going to have to lead the relationship into being more physically affectionate if you want it to get to that point at all. This is going to be much to her embarrassment, though.
-Makoto definitely won't turn you down though, she wants to keep you happy while dating her, and it's an opportunity to for her to grow in your relationship together.
-She doesn't have the guts to do it anywhere that isn't her house where she knows you two will be alone. She'll still be super nervous but with your reassurance she'll slowly but surely ease into it.
-That is until there's a knock at the door. Sae appears to have come home much earlier than usual, causing you both to stiffen up immediately and scoot away from each other and do your best to act natural.
-Thankfully for the both of you Sae is just as romantically incompetent as her sister so it's easy to fool her, although she will be suspicious and probably keep a closer eye on you two from now on.

I know this is mainly a Twisted Wonderland blog at this point but hEAR ME OUT. Persona 3 Mitsuru Kirijo. She is a badass and her hair is so damn pretty I can't help but at least draw her once. Also I've been playing the remake a ton lately.
Ok so I will now be starting my massive persona pony dump for designs and backstory, unfortunately Yukari and Junpei have minimal details as I designed them before I decided to write millions of paragraphs but oh well I’ll probably only write minimal comments on here so it isn’t as long as it could be.
Typhoon Targets aka Yukari, her name is comprised of Typhoon which is giant storm as she has wind powers and also Targets since archery.
Hot Shot aka Junpei, his name alludes to his fire powers and also is what you’d call someone who is good at sports such as baseball, ngl I’m super proud of how his coloration came together
Current Champion aka Akihiko, his name is a play on being the champion in boxing and also electrical currents. I added part of the Gemini constellation to his vest and added the other half to Shinji pony’s beanie. Unfortunately I think I drew his head a bit small but can’t really change it now, rippppp.
Icy Heiress aka Mitsuru, her name is a play on her icy personality and ice powers, the second part of her name being how she is heir to kirijo company. I’m wondering if she should be like a princess or just from really upper class unicorn family.
Wallflower Wires aka Fuuka, ngl she has probably one of if not my favorite designs out of pony SEES, anyways a Wallflower is a super shy person and wires is in reference to her enjoyment of mechanic work
