The void loves. The void loves all who have suffered and endured the unfairness of humanity. It loves those who have suffered the unfairness of life, mortality, and those that have persisted despite the unfairness or given up entirely.

They are all loved by the void. They all deserved pleasant lives that were unfairly stolen from them.

The void asks you, mortal, to remember to do your part. Even if your part isn't much, a simple smile is sometimes enough. Some people are living lives they don't deserve. And while it may not be you who took it from them, you may have the power to give it back. The least you can do is make even a moment of their day a little better.

It costs nothing to be kind. But it costs lives to be cruel.

The void wishes that someday in humanity's lifespan, the world it lives on becomes a place where optimism does not mean naivety.

You are still so young. There is still time.

Two Sides to Giving Thanks

For those of us in the U.S., today is Thanksgiving. I am thankful for many, many things in my life. I could write entire essays about my family, my friends, my school, my neighborhood... Heck, I could probably write a book about how much I love all the dogs in my life. Yet, I keep circling back to my special interests.

Astronomy has been there with me since the beginning. It has fueled my passion for learning, and it has served as a springboard for my professional potential. Then, Monster High grabbed my attention with its unique character designs, and I found a role model in Lagoona Blue. FNAF came into the mix in November of 2014, just after the release of the second game. It scared the crap out of me at first, but then I got obsessed with the lore and the character designs. FNAF got me through high school, by far the most stressful six years (yes, six--my high school included all grades from 7th through 12th because my district was so puny) of my life. And now, just two months ago, Rise of the TMNT joined in. The turtles being brothers and goofing off just gives me so much life, and Donnie in particular means so much to me that he might be a hearttype for me.

My interests have played a huge role in how I've grown as a person. I am incredibly grateful for them.

Today does, however, have a darker meaning to some families than others. I have heard that several American Indian families treat Thanksgiving as a day of mourning; I am not equipped to speak in detail on the matter, as I lack detailed information, but it is definitely understandable given how indigenous populations were treated by European migrants as colonization progressed. True awareness of this side of Thanksgiving is unlikely to spread quickly as things currently stand. Consumerism and indulgence have a significant foothold in the modern interpretation of the holiday.

So what will it take?

I don't have the answer. I'm just one person. But I know from experience that education and civil, rational discussion can go a long way. It isn't a guarantee, and it may not be easy. There are quite a few people in my life who aren't willing to participate in such discussions, and I bet a lot of you readers know people like that, too. It's a start, though. So as we feast upon our Thanksgiving buffets, and as we give thanks for the wonderful things in our lives, perhaps we can also spare a thought for those who must mourn today, and start to make changes for the better.

This is actually how I met a dear friend of mine. I was on the train to class when some guy in a PRISON UNIFORM (in Australia the uniforms are green and look kinda like nurses scrubs) starts asking questions about me like where I'm going, which TAFE (basically trade school) I go to, what classes I take ect. He tells me he just got out of prison and he's getting out at the same station and I should get coffee with him.

At this point I'm afraid to move and my stop the still ten minutes away. Just as the guy is about to ask where I live, a girl walks and says to me "Hey! I thought you said you missed the train sillybilly. Lucy wants us to get off here and met her at the music store". So I follow her out and she grabs my hand and we run into the next train car. The guy tried to follow but didn't see us re-enter the train so he's left on the platform.

The girl turns around and says "Are you ok? That looked creepy and thought you might want help. I heard that you go to the TAFE as me so I'll walk you."

Ever since the girl, Heaven-leigh, and I have been close friends and always met up on the train to class to look out for each other.

Don't be afraid to help someone in this way. As someone who was saved by this method, I can tell you that the person you help will be so grateful that you were there.

It's not just girls being harassed by creepy guys that need this but anyone who is being harassed. Like a Muslim women being insulted for her religious beliefs, a teenage boy being bullied, an open member of the LGBTQI+ community and anyone else who is scared and cornered.

We are all human beings and no one should be afraid to go about their day. A simple conversation, even just a few words can help someone get out of at best an uncomfortable situation and at worst a life threatening situation.

One can contribute to the betterment of the world from an individual perspective by remaining at home.

It is our contention that this represents a comprehensive solution to all conflicts occurring outside the domestic sphere.

Those who inform themselves are in a position to make good decisions!

Those who vote have a voice, don't let them take it away from you.

Register and vote, those who say you only have to vote once and never again are just trying to silence you!
