The Owner

Yandere! Ghost! Park Jimin x Female! Reader
Wanna write a story when the MC isn’t skeptical bc I do believe in spirits, although not to the point of being overly superstitious. And phew, does it exceed my expectations.
Warnings: Death, murder, blood
***
When you spotted the pale figure of a man standing in the window of the second floor, you knew this house was haunted.
But you weren’t scared, nor were you shocked by the sight. The building was old, towering over you like an ancient creature with all its familiarity and mystery. The price probably didn’t worth the secrets it held, but your father was just happy to buy such a cheap two-story house. And you wouldn’t deny that you were desperate to leave that cramped apartment you both used to live in.
You bowed your head slightly at the true owner, missing the way his eyes widened slightly. As much as you wanted the title to belong to you and your father, he didn’t teach you to share for nothing. And despite his ironic skepticism towards the supernatural, you believed spirits occupied every space of Earth and were only separated by a thin layer of dimension.
By the time you raised your head, the man had vanished and the curtains had been drawn again like they should be. Still, you hoped that greeting was enough to land you in his good book. Just because he was invisible, didn’t mean he didn’t exist. And just because he was invisible, didn’t mean he was entirely harmless.
If ghosts could move things, or make noises, how would you know they couldn’t attack you? How would you know they wouldn’t attack you?
“Here’s your box, dear. Your room is upstairs, so be careful.”
You nodded and took the box containing clothes from your father’s hands. The house was dark, as expected. Across the foyer, there was a door that probably led to the bathroom and a smaller one right under the staircase, presumably the storage room. The main bedroom was on your right, and on the left side, there was a living room with a couch, two armchairs, and a coffee table.
When you peeked at the kitchen, you found that it was surprisingly more modern than the rest of the house. Everything was white, with streaks of black here and there. Above the dishwasher, there was a small window framed by white curtains that overlooked a lawn filled with dead leaves. You wondered if the previous owner loved cooking, or at least, loved the kitchen in itself.
An ache began to bloom and crawl up your arms like ants, so you decided to finally see your new room. There were a few doors, and you guessed one of them was another bathroom. You opened the door to the right, and immediately, a cold breeze greeted you. The hairs on your body bristled, but you braved the storm. If you were scared of your own room, then where else would you sleep?
The wall was painted in a pale blue color, reminding you of the sea. You put the box on the bed and plopped down beside it, sighing heavily. It’d been a long day of packing and traveling, and you wanted nothing more than a rest. But the second you closed your eyes, your father was calling you to carry another box inside. So, you heaved another sigh and approached him again.
Except, when you finally finished helping him with everything, you found out that your clothes had been piled neatly on the bed.
And the box was on the floor, fully opened.
You froze on the doorway, gaping at the sight. There was an inkling that this room belonged to the ghost, but was he really that excited to have you replace his spot? Or maybe he was just impressed by your politeness, and as both your owner and roommate, he wanted to thank you for that.
Yes, that must be it. No matter how ridiculous it sounded, this couldn’t be the work of other people. You hadn’t seen anyone coming upstairs, let alone coming to this house at all, and your father had been busy outside.
Therefore, it left him. And he knew you knew he existed.
“Thank you.” you whispered to the air, both sure and unsure if he’d hear that. He could’ve been anywhere, but you hoped your gratitude reached his ears.
You quickly put the clothes into the closet and went to the bathroom to clean yourself up. While the pale blue wall had washed away the anxiety of moving to a new place, the water washed away the traces of the past instead. And the moment you left the bathroom, you felt as if you were reborn.
That was it. You officially lived in this house now, along with your living father and your dead roommate.
The bed shook when you threw yourself to it, embracing you in its warmth. You pulled the cover up to your chest and sighed, smiling contentedly. When was the last time you felt this way again? You couldn’t remember, but it didn’t matter.
Because as soon as you closed your eyes, the caress on your hair immediately lulled you into sleep.

‘Hello.’
The sunlight that streamed through the window did nothing to warm the cold that enveloped your body. You nearly dropped the plate on your hands when the magnetic letters on the fridge suddenly formed a greeting. Breathing heavily, you put it on the dining table and held your chest. The sound of your thundering heart drowned out the birdsong from the outside, but you managed to peer at your father. Fortunately, he was busy fixing the cufflinks in the living room with his back on you. Based on his casual attitude, you presumed the ghost hadn’t shown himself to your father. If at all.
You turned to face the fridge as if it was an ancient tablet you needed to decipher. Should you answer it? Well, it was a polite thing to do, wasn’t it? Glancing at your father once again, you swallowed and replaced the ‘ello’ part with an ‘i’ so it formed a ‘hi’. You kept staring at it even when you were eating, trying to see the magic formed in front of your eyes. But your father’s body soon blocked your sight, and you were forced to look up.
“I’m gonna head to work. Take care of the house, okay?”
“Okay, Dad.”
Even when you tried to peek behind his back, there was no answer. Even when your father had long left the house, there was still no answer.
But the pair of hands that held your shoulders from behind when you were standing in front of the hallway mirror soon quenched your curiosity.
“Peek a boo.”
You screamed and jumped away, nearly crashing against the mirror behind you. The ghost guffawed whilst clutching his stomach and slapping his thigh. It reminded you of those fake ghosts during Halloween night, except this time, he wasn’t fake. This wasn’t Halloween. And this wasn’t nighttime. You looked back and forth, from him to the mirror, trying to see if you weren’t being crazy. If the mirror also saw what your eyes saw.
And he did appear in both.
“You… you’re that ghost…” you whispered, pointing a shaky finger at him.
The laughter died down as he nodded, humming in agreement.
“Indeed I am. The name’s Jimin, by the way.”
You gaped.
Jimin pouted.
“Aren’t you going to greet me or something? You’ve been so polite to me yesterday. Surely, it’s not a façade, right?”
“N-no, of course not. I–” You moved your mouth, trying to find the right words. Once again, you missed the way his eyes followed your lips. “I’m just… shocked.”
“Is it because I scared you for a bit earlier? Would you be less shocked if I didn’t do that?”
You didn’t think the latter was possible.
“No, I mean… yeah?” you tittered. “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect you to appear.”
“Well, to be honest, I’ve been wanting to show myself again to you yesterday. But you seemed so tired, so… I decided to do it now.” The melancholy dimmed the light in his face, and you realized he was probably as lonely as the house was. The nearest neighbors were a few kilometers away, after all. “Thank you for… acknowledging my existence too. Nobody has ever done that before.”
“I-it’s nothing. The least I could do is to respect you since you’re, you know, the true owner of this house.”
He smiled again, but the traces of darkness in his eyes swirled like a whirlpool. You hoped it didn’t suck you in. You hoped it never sucked you in. Jimin liked you, so he wouldn’t do anything to you and your father, right?
***
For the next few weeks, Jimin became even bolder with his presence. Sometimes he’d wash your dishes, turn on the washing machine once you’d finished putting all the laundry inside, and give you a glass of water when you felt thirsty. But just like a human, he wasn’t always helpful to be around. Sometimes he’d mess with your hair when you were trying to fix it, knock some things off, and misplace your belongings. He reminded you of a cat – a black cat, to be exact – with his mystery, elegance, and mischief. He wore a black silk shirt and a matching pants that enhanced his lean figure, coupled with salt-and-pepper hair and a pair of playful grey eyes.
Simply put, he was the most beautiful man you’d ever met. And had he was still alive, you were sure you would’ve been infatuated by him.
But, alas, you both lived in different dimensions, just as you both lived in different timelines.
It didn’t really bother you, though. You were just happy to have such a fun roommate to spend your holiday with before you went back to college, and you thought he felt the same way about you too. After all, he kept smiling, laughing, and pranking you. What else was that if not happiness?
Then again, it was human nature to be attracted to puzzles. So, one day, you mustered the courage to ask about his past.
“… Is it okay if I ask you about how you died, Jimin?”
His shoulders drooped slightly like a withering flower, and you wondered if you should retract your question.
“Well, let’s just say I threw a party because my friends asked me to. We played truth or dare, and one of them challenged me to jump from the window of my room. He said he’d be there to get me, but he didn’t. He just watched me fall and crash to the ground, along with many others, and it was a long time until they called the police.”
You gasped. “That’s horrible! How could they do that?!”
“I was a wallflower back then. Nobody liked me, until a group of popular guys took me as theirs. I thought they were my friends, even if I had to pay for their lunches every day. The day before the party, they forced me to dye my hair so I looked like a grandpa and told me to wear black clothes. So, as a result, I was the center of the attention while the others wore colorful clothes.” he recounted gloomily, twirling a strand of his hair. “But I didn’t know that these clothes would be my last because, you know, black clothes are worn for funerals.”
“Did they get caught?”
He shook his head. “They said it was an accident, and the police let them off the hook just like that. They’re rich too, so…”
“That’s so unfair.” you breathed out in disbelief, feeling your chest tight with indignation and grief for your friend. “You didn’t deserve any of those things, Jimin, and I think you look... handsome with that hair color.”
“You really think so?” he chuckled at your embarrassment, but the lack of gleams in his narrowed eyes betrayed his humorlessness. “Thank you. I was worried that you might think of me as a real grandpa.”
You shook your head and held his hands, smiling reassuringly. A few days after your first proper meeting with him, you discovered that you both could touch each other’s bodies. It’d been a huge blessing, mostly for Jimin himself. He figured it was due to your acknowledgement of his existence that he was able to fully interact with you like a living person could.
“Never. I already know that you look young.”
He squeezed your hands back. “Thank you again, [Name].”
You averted your gaze when his eyes dug too deep into your soul and cleared your throat.
“So, uh, what about your parents? Did they try to press charges or something?”
“Oh, yes, they did. But like I said, my ‘friends’ were rich, so they couldn’t really do anything about it.” he sighed. “My mom tried to kill herself out of grief, but my father managed to stop her. Still, she was the first one to die later on.”
“It really sucks how money can cover almost everything, including your death. I hope you can move on someday, Jimin.”
The temperature suddenly dropped, and shadows appeared like a mist on his face.
“Are you trying to get rid of me, [Name]?”
“What…?” You blanched. “Of course not! I-I just wanted you to become peaceful, is all!”
“If I moved on, I wouldn’t be able to meet you again. And I think that’s a worse punishment than Hell.”
Your eyes widened, and you wanted nothing more than for him to laugh and say that he was just joking.
He didn’t.
Still, you tittered and tried to pull your hands out of his grip. But, as expected, he was too strong for you.
“Is that so? Then, uh, how about the kitchen?” you inquired with a fake enthusiasm and a not-so-fake curiosity. You truly wanted to know why it was so different. “It looks more modern compared to the other rooms.”
Jimin sighed again, but with more weariness than earlier. Your shoulders sagged in relief, relishing in the sun that penetrated the mist even slightly.
“There were two guys who lived here years ago. I think their names are Jin and Hoseok. Jin liked to cook, while Hoseok liked to party. The first thing Jin did when came to this house was to complain about how ugly the kitchen was, so he made some adjustments and here we are.”
“And… why didn’t they live here anymore?”
“Well, they moved out because Hoseok thought this place is too small for the big party he often held.”
You frowned. As much as you believed his stories, you couldn’t bring yourself to believe this one. If Hoseok thought the house was too small, why did he buy it in the first place? Did Jin force him or something? You opened your mouth to ask more, but Jimin gripped your hands.
“I think it’s time for lunch.” He smiled tightly, dangerously. “I’ll help you prepare the plate.”
You nodded timidly and allowed him to guide you to the kitchen. There were times when you forgot he wasn’t a spirit, and there were times when you forgot he wasn’t a human. And with his recent attitude, you weren’t sure if the lines were getting blurrier or clearer.
If your friendship was getting better or worse.
***
Today was the last week of your holiday.
You weren’t really excited about it, but education was education nonetheless. You’d also been keeping in touch with your friends, who all had their fair share of interesting experiences. Though, if you were being pompous, you had the most striking experience than their ‘ordinary’ ones. Because, surely, nobody had a ghost as a friend, right? Let alone as a roommate.
It’d never occurred to you that you had to tell Jimin about this, and when he caught you putting some clothes into your suitcase, he piped up.
“What are you doing?”
You shrugged.
“Just preparing some clothes for college later.”
“College?”
You paused your activity at his rising tone and looked up at him. Jimin stood with the most scandalized expression you’d ever seen from him.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you’re in college? And that you also–”
He motioned to the stacks of clothes.
“Wha– I thought you already know!”
“Duh.” He rolled his eyes. “Just because I’m a ghost doesn’t mean I’m all-seeing, okay?”
You stared at him dumbly.
Jimin huffed at you exasperatedly.
“Look, you already have your father, right?” he asked as he began to move your shirts out of the suitcase. “So that means you don’t need to study anymore.”
“I can’t do that!”
“And why not?!”
“Because–!” You flailed your hands, trying to make him understand without having to explain things. Then again, why would he ask such an obvious question? “Education is important if I wanna have a job!”
“What makes you think you’re going to get one right after graduation?”
You gaped. You knew he was right, as painful as it was to admit it. But as your friend, he should’ve known better than to discourage you like this, right? Heck, you even wished for him to move on when he told you about his past! So why couldn’t he do the same?!
You stared at him, at those grey eyes that reminded you of a storm. A whirlpool. A void. Tempting. Luring. Drowning. And your heart subsequently dropped.
“No,” you whispered timidly yet resolutely. “I won’t stay here. I have a bright future ahead of me, even if I don’t get a job right away.”
“You want to leave me, after everything I’ve done to you?” Jimin slowly cocked his head, hands shooting out to strangle your neck before you could move away. The shadows in his eyes spread until they resembled a pair of obsidians. “You want to leave me, after everything I’ve told you?”
Tempting. Luring. Drowning.
“Jimin, you’re… you’re hurting me.” you whined, clawing at his hands.
“You think it hurts? You think being squeezed like this is painful? Well, how do you think being abandoned by your one and only friend feels like, hm?” he hissed. “And how do you think dying from falling feels like, hm? Is it less painful than the one you’re feeling right now? Tell me, [Name], because I really want to know.”
“Snap… out of it, Jimin...!”
The spirit glowered at you for another moment before pushing your face as if it was dirt.
“You’re going to regret it if you keep being stubborn, [Name].”
His warning echoed in the confine of the walls as he vanished, bringing all the shadows and coldness with him. You gasped for air and stared at the spot he once stood, trying to make sense of things. Would it be better if you ignored him since the beginning? Would it be better if you’d been skeptical instead? You just wanted to give him the respect that he deserved so he wouldn’t do anything to you both. Your father was the only family member you had ever since your mother’s passing, and you wouldn’t know what to do if he died.
But it seemed that you’d made the wrong choice all along.
And Jimin truly kept his promise, or warning, because for the next few days leading up to your departure, you began to experience supernatural attacks from him. The cabinets would open by themselves, the plates would break, and the utensils would fall. You still had the scar when a knife suddenly zoomed past you, slicing your cheek in the process. It was a shallow wound, but the horror of it all just served to intensify the pain. Your hair would be yanked out of nowhere like a translucent and violent school bully, your clothes would scatter everywhere including your laundry, and one of your legs would be dragged out of the bed in some nights even when you were sleeping in another room.
You’d cried at your father to move out already, but with the limited budget he had, you were forced to stay. At least until you finally left. You thought – you prayed – it’d stop too, but the last straw was when you saw a bloody handprint on the bathroom mirror on one morning.
So, here you were, bawling on the floor of your room and begging to the thin air.
“I’m sorry, okay?! I’m so sorry for offending you, just please stop! Please stop attacking me!”
“If I do that, would you consider staying?”
You whipped around to find Jimin standing inside the curtains and gazing down through the window, reminding you of your very first day of moving. He turned to look at you.
“Well?”
You merely sniffled.
“No answer? What a shame. I was so ready to forgive you too.”
“Okay.” you sobbed. “I won’t… I won’t leave you. I promise.”
“Really? You’ll do that for me? Aw, sweetheart. You never failed to make my cold, dead heart beat again, do you?” Jimin beckoned you towards him. “Come here.”
You obeyed. Anything to make him stop.
“I love you, you know that?” He grasped your hand and stroked the hair away from your sweaty forehead. “I was about to confess to you, but I found you packing up and I just… snapped.”
You flinched unwittingly.
“I suppose I should apologize too, shouldn’t I?” He leaned forward to whisper in your ear, a low and dark voice reminiscent of a demon. “If only you don’t make a promise you can’t keep.”
You stiffened. Did he eavesdrop on your conversation with your father? You supposed he did. He was a ghost, after all. He might’ve claimed to not be all-seeing, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t be anywhere and everywhere at the same time.
“But don’t worry, I lied about one thing too. Remember about those two roommates, Jin and Hoseok?”
Hesitantly, you nodded. Why was he telling you this now? You even forgot about them.
“Well, I lied about Hoseok moving out. It was only Jin, because Hoseok died.” Jimin intoned. “You know about the saying that history repeats itself, right? Well, one night, Hoseok was challenged to jump from this same window, from the same game. One of his friends said he’d catch him, but he didn’t. Not because he was a terrible friend like mine did, but because I pushed him away.”
You froze.
“I never really liked popular guys ever since I died, you see. And I felt an indescribable hatred when I first saw Hoseok too, so why not kill two birds at once by killing him and kicking Jin out of my house?” He shrugged nonchalantly. “Anyway, Hoseok didn’t immediately die, mind you. He broke some of his bones, so he was brought to the hospital. But, luckily, he died in there. Jin felt guilty and decided to start anew somewhere. So, I guess he was a bit terrible as a friend too, but whatever.”
Jimin spread his arms wide as if he was introducing you to an invisible audience.
“And now, here you are! My favorite roommate of all.”
You tensed up, and you belatedly realized that you were standing near the window now.
The window that had been opened even though you remembered keeping it closed.
“And because you respect me as the true owner of this house, you’ll do as I say, no?”
Your eyes widened, and you instinctively screamed when he shoved you out of the window. You outstretched your hands for a help that never arrived before they collapsed beside you, broken by a loud and sickening crack. Blood pooled around your head, while your eyes stared at the pale figure of a man standing in the window of the second floor.
And so, the whirlpool of darkness in Jimin’s eyes finally sucked you in.
“I’ll see you soon, my love.”

Dandelion (Naruto fic)
There was a big crack in the sidewalk that Naruto passed by sometimes, and in it grew the happiest flowers in the world. The flowers were small and round and yellow and soft and they held the brightness of a thousand smiles. Naruto always said hello to them as he passed, and he never, ever stepped on them, even when he was running from the mask people. He’d stop by sometimes and just talk to the flowers about his day, about his life, about anything, and the flowers were never upset or annoyed or angry.
Then one day as he came up to that patch of sidewalk, he smelled a weird smell and he looked down and he stopped. All the the yellow sunshine flowers were withered, deep green leaves reduced to dull brown twisted things, shriveled up into almost nothing, all the light and life of the cheerful blooms extinguished.
Naruto sat down beside them and cried.
Naruto wasn’t a crier. He’d learned early on that crying didn’t get him anything but snarls to shut up rough punishment, and crying was a sign of weakness that he couldn’t afford. So Naruto hadn’t cried in the orphanage when when the caretakers gave attention to everyone but him or punished him for no reason. He hadn’t cried when other kids were mean to him, or when strangers called him names or when shopkeepers kicked him out. He hadn’t cried earlier that morning when he’d found out that there was an extra day this month so his money wasn’t coming until tomorrow, even though it had run out the day before yesterday.
But now he sat and he cried and he cried because it wasn’t right, it wasn’t fair. Because all those plants had ever done was make the world a little brighter place, and someone had poisoned them anyway, and now they were dead, dead, dead. And why was the world like this? Why were people like this ?
Naruto sat and cried next to the dead flowers with the poison smell in his nose. He sat like that for a long, long time because he couldn’t think of a reason to stop crying and leave.
He avoided that particular patch of sidewalk for a while after that, but one afternoon his feet took him there without his really paying attention. And there, growing out of the crack, was a flower, brightest sunshine yellow, cheerful and kind like nothing bad had ever happened, like nothing could ever hurt it, brilliant and beautiful and brave.
“Hello,” Naruto said to his little flower friend. And then he faced the world and he smiled.

Silco’s sad attempt at braiding his daughter’s hair that keeps getting longer every year. His struggle is real but he is a dedicated man until he got really good at it.
Seriously, have you seen Jinx’s braids?? Mastery at its finest.
Short additional drabble :
“Isn’t your head getting heavy with this much hair?” Silco asked in his usual rough yet soft tone.
“Uh-oh.” It wasn’t the answer he was expecting. Jinx did mean to say no but her butterfly bomb started ticking. Of course it decided to work now of all times. “Uuuuhh. . .Silco, I think we should run.”
The man hummed, clearly to humour her like he always did and to keep the conversation going, but there wasn’t time. “Where to? And stop moving, you’re going to make your braids look worse.”
This time her reply was in the form of a tackle as she slid of his desk, rocketing unto his lap and turning the chair around just in time to shield them from the small explosion that followed. When the smoke cleared he could see her cheeky grin widen and felt her braids come loose in between his fingers.
“Oops.” She shrugged sheepishly.
Well, it looks like Silco had another chance to practice.
A little sketch of the Entrapta scene comforting catra from the fic of Anacharlier, I really loved that part.
https://archiveofourown.org/users/Annacharlier/pseuds/Annacharlier

Catra flinches and looks away, curling in on herself, shivering. Entrapta sees the reaction and panics — she does the first thing she can think of and lunges for Catra’s hand, holding it in an awkward grip. Catra’s teary eyes meet hers, shocked. Entrapta looks shocked too, then she decides that she needs to commit and squeezes Catra’s hand a little more firmly.
“I think they came back for me because they believed that I could be better,” she says, clearly choosing each word as carefully as she can. “They wouldn’t leave me, even when I asked them to. So I decided I wanted to be the person they thought I was. At first, I didn’t know how. I kept messing it up. But they didn’t give up on me. I don’t think they’ve given up on you, either. I think you just have to…keep trying.”
Second part of the fill for @arcane-ish Timebomb: we know that Powder has drawn Ekko (council archives) and Ekko has drawn Powder (wall), do you figure they have drawn each other more often/what kind of other drawings have they made of each other? Has Ekko drawn Jinx specifically and in what circumstances did he draw her the first time? (Hey, I tried to add some fluffiness, but this one wound up being kind of unavoidably angsty due to le circumstances) Ekko and Jinx used to draw each other all the time as kids. They were much better about staying still and holding a pose for each other than the older kids were, so they used each other for practice a lot. Ekko tends more towards a realistic, portrait style of art, while Jinx leans towards a more stylized, cartoonish method. A lot of their early drawings of each other are of them making silly, exaggerated expressions or trying to hold goofy poses. After the deaths of Vander and his family, it took some time before it came to light that Jinx was still alive and with Silco. During that time, Ekko started drawing sketches of Powder based on the ones he’d already made. When he found out Powder was still alive, he didn’t know what to think at first. He tried to get her alone to talk to her, thinking she needed to be rescued, but she coldly told him that Vi had abandoned her after Powder’d killed their family and that she was living with Silco, now. She tells him to leave her alone because she isn’t Powder anymore, she’s Jinx, and Jinx isn’t his friend. He goes home in complete shock and the next time he sees the sketches he’d been working on all the betrayal and confusion and anger overwhelm him and he almost throws them out. He can’t quite do it, though, and he later uses them as a base to add Powder to the memorial wall. Even though he has to fight Jinx as an enemy, now, he decides he can still mourn the memory of the girl that was his friend because her memory is still precious to him. Jinx misses Ekko terribly in the days and weeks after her family dies. She constantly wants to see him, but knows that if she does she’ll have to tell him what happened and what she did. Once she can do more than lie in bed and cry, she finds her old drawing supplies and starts drawing pictures of her family and Ekko and even Benzo since she knows he died as well. She’s driven by a combination of guilt and longing, so the drawings range from frantic and messy to painstakingly careful. Those pages are littered with scratched out faces and messily written apologies. They mostly still live in a pile at the bottom of the box that the Mylo sculpture’s feet are propped up on in her workshop.

Family portraits - part one
saw your headcanon about claudia reading ez bedtime stories and immediately thought about the hc of callum probably getting the "bloodthirsty elves" thing from her, and the brain did what the brain does...
so here?
bedtime story
"You're gonna scare him, Claudia," Callum says one night, leaning on his doorframe. The older girl is perched at the foot of Ezran's bed, a book of fables from the library open on her lap.
"They're just stories, Callum. Ez knows they're not real." She shrugs, tucking a stray lock of her long dark hair behind her ear. Soren helped her dye the ends purple the other day; Callum caught them in the kitchens doing it and Claudia made him swear not to tell Lord Viren.
"He's got a good imagination," Callum points out, and little Ezran grins.
"I like the scary stories, Cal!" He says, a slight lisp on his 's' sounds from the lack of his two front teeth. His milk teeth have been falling out in earnest lately, and it leaves his frequent smiles gapping and even cuter than normal.
"Okay," Callum concedes. "But if you have nightmares because of Claudia embellishing about bloodthirsty Moonshadow assassins or terrible lava monsters, I'm not letting you read it before bed anymore."
Ezran nods quickly, his attention going back to Claudia. Callum shakes his head, turning back to his room.
He doodles in his sketchbook for the next hour, elves and strange Xadian monsters and quite a few candid studies of Claudia grinning as she reads.
Sometimes, things are almost normal. Sometimes, he forgets his mom won't come and kiss him and Ez goodnight. Sometimes, even, he can almost see Claudia reading to a kid with his eyes and her smile, the way everyone who works at the castle whispers she will someday. She would be a good match for him, he hears them say.
He's not sure how he feels about it. Mostly he just wishes she wasn't so delighted by those scary stories.

YESS I LOVE IT!! @mediocre-mage thank you so much for bringing this to life and sharing it with me, i love it so much!!
“Have I ever told you that you give the very best hugs?” asked Weiss, as she tightened the hug she was receiving from her wife. It was one of the bedrocks of their relationship, the ability to just be casually, physically open with each other. Weiss especially appreciated the contact of which she had been so starved of growing up.
“You may have mentioned it a few times,” said Yang, before placing a kiss on Weiss’ head and closing her eyes. Truth be told, she enjoyed these sessions just as much as her wife.
“I love you.”
“Love you too.”
