I love the newsies musical soundtrack so much, it’s so powerful, if that makes sense. Like “The World Will Know” and “Seize The Day” is so powerful! Especially “Once and for All” it’s the perfect ending song!
I’d also like to mention, no one gives the line “Everyday we wait, is a day we lose” the credit it deserves. It always resonates with me, it shows just how important this strike is to them.
Someone needs to stop me from listening to the newsies soundtrack. I can’t stop playing it and I know I’m going to play it so much that I’m going to ruin it for myself and won’t be able to listen to it anymore.
Ok this is just me but I don’t like Sarah x Katherine. Not because they’re both girls, obviously, but I don’t like it because Katherine is just a different version of Sarah.
Like objectively the ship is fine, there’s nothing wrong with it and people can write really cute fics of the two. But my brain just can’t get past the fact that they’re essentially the same person. I know they aren’t, but Katherine is just Sarah and Denton merged together and my brain doesn’t like that.
Katherine Plumber has so typed out a love letter or two, or at least the beginnings of one, on her fancy type writer titled ‘to Jack’ and then immediately crumpled them into a ball and tossed them into a bin and Wanted To Die because Oh My God What Is She Doing. He’s just A Boy and she has an Embarrassingly big crush
I love listening to King of New York (Full song with Dance Break) because I love picking out the random things they say during it.
So far I’ve picked out:

Spot (I’m like 99% sure it’s Tommy’s voice): “Like she’s important huh?”

There’s other phrases that I can’t pinpoint and the obvious hollering during it. Also the idea that they had to be in the recording booth hollering at nothing is hilarious.

Javey (I’m sorry, don’t hurt me 😭 I have my reasons but there’s too many to put here)
Jack x Sarah (these two make me ship Javey… I don’t like them)

Jack x Spot (I see them having a brotherly relationship, also didn’t realize a lot of people ship this)
Sarah x Katherine (my brain can’t get past the fact they are essentially the same person)
If you like the ships I don’t, great, keep liking them, you just won’t change my mind on them. If you don’t like the ones I do, same thing, I don’t care, I’m going to keep liking them.
I’ve seen way to many people get mad at people for liking or not liking a certain ship in the other fandoms I’m in, idk how the newsies fandom is, so I put the ending to be safe. People are weirdly rude about this stuff.
Went to see a High School Performance of Newsies and it BLEW MY MIND
I wasn’t expecting much, but the exceeded my expectations! They had a Broadway way set and an actual orchestra come play the music. AND THE GUY WHO PLAYED JACK KELLY WAS JUST THE BEST!!! Such a voice!
Basically I had a great night
Also to make it better my friend who played Teddy Roosevelt told everyone on the cast who I was (because he knows Newsies is my favorite musical) so when they came out after the show everyone I went up to knew who I was and was asking if they did good enough and what not. THEY TOLD ME IT MADE THEIR NIGHT KNOWING I THOUGHT THEY DID GOOD we don’t deserve theater kids

ship what you want but i don’t get when people consider jatherine to be out of nowhere… particularly the kiss but i think i just really like to psychoanalyse my favourite characters… it definitely isn’t random like they have chemistry it’s just subtle as hell because that isn’t really what you’re supposed to be focusing on. jack is endlessly flirty and katherine refuses to admit her feelings even when you can see it on her face and in her voice and the way she shows concern for him and the denial is So Real, particularly in watch what happens. she kisses him because she needs to do something, anything to reassure him that she wasn’t conspiring against him or double-crossing him and his boys to pulitzer and that she really truly believes in him and cares about the strike just as much as he does. i like to think she hasn’t really experienced love like this before or much unconditional love in general & doesn’t really know what to do about it. i’m a jatherine defender til i die

i am genuinely such a strong advocate for autistic katherine it hurts. it brings me so much joy to interpret her that way specifically when watching the proshot not only because of regular self projection but also because… ugh, a lot of it is so far fetched seeming but also a lot of it means so so much to me… she stims! she does!!! it’s a thing she does!!!! she stims physically and you bet i count her little squeal in watch what happens as a little vocal stim as well. it’s a thing she does when really excited TO ME…
also her repeating “for sure” the same way that jack does is so relatable and sooo echolalia which i believe is common in autistic people anyway and i also like to headcanon that jack will occasionally worry she’s taking the piss out of his accent and she likes to reassure him that she definitely isn’t, it’s just a habit she has, she really likes his accent and the way he says things is really pleasant on her ears :-) this is also to a slightly lesser extent seen in how she says “write it good” just before watch what happens… idk guys
obviously this is just a stupid headcanon and i’m not like parading around telling people it’s true and canon but as an autistic person that projects a LOT onto characters they like it just sort of. happens. Katherine plumber getting my autism beams
i understand when people say that they don’t think jatherine wouldn’t last and obviously the way their relationship ends up is up for interpretation but i can’t imagine anything else than them growing old together and being married and in love because they literally changed each others perceptions of love (“love at first sight’s for suckers / at least it used to be” and etc. vs “til the moment i found you / i thought i knew what love was”)
i think these come from jack struggling with commitment and him not really being able to stay in one place which then in turn seeps into how he views relationships and therefore would struggle with keeping a serious, meaningful relationship with someone, especially in a romantic sense, and katherine not having really experienced unconditional love and support like this in her life. obviously this one is more of an interpretation than canon but given the way her father is, it’s very likely, and after meeting jack she gets to properly learn what love is. through all of the cocky flirting she could see someone who actually cared for her and wanted to spend time with her just for the sake of being around her and it opened her eyes to something new. generally speaking neither of them have experienced a serious romantic relationship like this before, in my eyes, and it will not be perfect and it will be messy but it’s their mess and they love it and they love each other forever and ever.
