Here’s concept art for Jeff & Taylor episode 14, “Chaotic Crew”. The last two-thirds of the story will take place at a formal party where there’s a dark blue and purple theme. Blue and purple? Hmmm….

Nice, thanks for the info! I’m always interested in hearing how people shade, as I only just recently started shading my own art.

Hi! Just curious, how many layers do you typically use for shading pictures? I'm currently only using one layer for shading and one for highlights, but I may want to expand it in the future. Or not.

I use three or four layers for my more detailed illustrations. And just one for my simple drawings.

This was a birthday gift for my friend and fellow cartoonist @jfmstudios! He wanted to see my attempt at drawing his character, Jane Cathaway, from his webcomic Jeff and Taylor. This was a little hard, as I’ve never drawn characters with braces before, but I think I pulled it off okay. I also attempted a more in-depth type of shading for this pic. I’ll probably just stick with the simpler type of shading I’ve used before for my own comic, but this was a nice experiment. Hope you like it, JFM! Jane Cathaway © @jfmstudios Art © Me
