Hi i sat down to make a 30 minute funny haha sketch of cryptid Orion but it turned into like a 4 day piece with a whole ass story behind it instead, i made an AU of my AU, this image would take place about forty years after the future timeline portal to send Casey back in time

My AU SFFL(WG) Is a little special in a sense that the turtles are going to live closer to 120 rather than die sometime around 80.

I'll be reffering to the Orion in the new AU as Leon, and SFFL(WG) Orion as, well, Orion. Akari is my future Donnie and Atlas is my future Raph.

I think ima call it ''It all went according to plan'' since, well, this is the outcome if Orion never got sneak attacked in the base that day, those claw marks never happened, everything went smoothly, they sent Casey junior to the past just like they planned.. then they didn't know what to do with themselves, the will to fight died out, they'd done it! alright, cool. what now? what happens after the end? there was nothing to fight for anymore.

This does not mean they gave up, however

Now, why does he look so different? that would be a secondary muation triggered by excess radiation, Orion did have a secondary mutation as well, which led to his teeth changing, he had some crowding and his new teeth were digging into his gums, but Akari helped with that, fixed him up. it gave him a tail, something none of his brothers have, it also affected his height, and his eyes. he's by no means the tallest of his brothers at 7'4, but all of their heights were.. well, exaggerated due to the radiation all around them, especially Leon, his height is a solid 9'1. Orion's eyes used to be brown, which you would be able to see if i ever drew lil Leo, but Leon doesn't have irises or pupils anymore, no, it's all just that bright, radioactive blue now.

So, as you can see he's a bit less.. humanoid than Orion, more exaggerated proportions, segmented shell, a slimmer and longer neck, much longer tail, his nails turned to talons- hell, he grew new talons on his heels, and spikes sprouted by his knees and elbow. his talons and spikes are protruding bones, yes, his bones sprouted out of his skin, they have a keratin coating on them very similar to his shell.

Those blue glowing markings are just straight up due to radioactivity, Orion also has them but they only appear when he's around something radioactive, he's basically a living geiger counter. Meanwhile Leon has them visible permanently.

Now, his body (thanks to Draxum) was designed to be able to withstand large amounts of radiation without getting sick, but he didn't account for almost sixty years of non-stop radiation exposure. As you can see he's crying, that's a bit odd, right? why's it blue? that would be his body's way of filtering out excess radiation, he is perpetually crying straight radioactive material. you also might have noticed his mouth from that close-up, its right side is dislocated and the cheek is torn from something getting tired of hearing him whistling to keep himself entertained a few years ago, it shut him up.

You might also have noticed his blade, it's.. kinda hard to miss, lmfao. it's about as long as he is tall, and it actually has a name, he named it 'Hope'. as you can see the handle is wrapped with his, Akari's and Atlas' masks, it's not very visible but his scarf is also tied around the base of the blade in favor of wearing it, he also used parts of the Raph prosthetic to reinforce it. When Casey went through that portal, no one dared follow him in fear of crashing the timeline, Casey decided to give his hockey mask to his remaining family- to Leon- as a parting gift of sorts. he wears Casey's mask around his neck to keep it safe, also as a way of remembering, he can look at the memories and data stored within it anytime his memory gets fuzzy.

His thigh prostetic is exposed, the silicone sleeve acting as replacement skin stopped fitting many, many years ago. more of his natural muscle became exposed to help accomodate his added height, along with some of the nanotech retreating into his replacement femur to make it grow with him, leading to that thigh being a bit slimmer than it otherwise would have been. there is also a bit of a blue glow from the back of his throat, which is another sign of his body having an overabundance of radiation.

If you know anything about my AU SFFL(WG), you should know that Orion has a thing called survival mode, this is an instinctual state his body entered when he didn't have enough to eat, drink or enough time to rest, for that matter. his ninpo started sustaining him, removing his hunger, his thirst, and his need for sleep. eventually draining his nipo completely, then he couldn't use it anymore (until he got to the present and they managed to convince his body that it was safe again), he spent around 11 years unable to portal or reach out to his ancestors. it came with side effects and consequences of course, and this is something that just kept getting worse for Leon, having been in survival mode for around 49 years, he basically doesn't eat at all anymore unless he stumbles upon something mildly edible, mildly edible is usually something alive. he has nothing to drink and he has nowhere safe to sleep.

He's in a lot of pain from the changes his body went through, and his whole jaw situation definitely doesn't help with eating.

Mentally, he's very vacant. He is still there, still intelligent, he just needs safety to really.. come back, i suppose.

You live a pretty normal life. You have lots of friends, lots of clothes, and your very own makeup brand. Plus, you have millions of followers on all of your social medias, enough brand deals and fan mail to fill up an entire house, and weekly photoshoots for fashion magazines. And not to mention a beautiful penthouse in the most expensive part of Tokyo. Okay, maybe your life isn't that normal.

At only 23, you've been on the cover of famous magazines (both in your home country and abroad), developed your own million-dollar beauty brand, and even starred in a few popular movies. The spotlight has always seemed to find you.

When you were younger, you participated in pageants, first locally and eventually moving up to larger-scale competitions. You would start to get spots in commercials for random products. You had become locally well-known, however it would be at the end of your teens that you would be catapulted into real stardom.

When you were 19, you were crowned Miss Universe Japan and were the runner-up for the Miss Universe competition. Ever since, you had become a national celebrity and were known internationally as well. You now lived a lavish lifestyle and surrounded yourself with glamorous possessions and people (though not to say you didn't appreciate and even miss your life before fame). As Tokyo's beloved 'it' girl, your life is exciting and lots of business at the same time.

Which brings you to now, you were sitting in the backseat of your car after just leaving your manager's office. You kept replaying the conversation you just had with Mr. Gushiken.

"I don't understand what you're trying to say" you admitted.

"You're going on 24 (Y/n), and you've never publicly dated anyone! You're going to become less relatable if you keep it up" he warned. Your manager has been on your case about getting into a relationship to boost people's view of you. Personally, you didn't care how relatable you are, but the more you thought the more you realized people might find it weird that their favorite megastar hasn't shown any sign of a love life. That didn't mean you wanted a 'pr' relationship though. You want love to find you, you don't want to force it or fake it. If that means waiting for the right person then so be it.

When you finally come back to reality, your driver informs you that you're almost to your destination. Your manager booked you a shoot for some designer handbag brand that's going to pay you a large sum for the photos. You're even getting a free purse from their new line, so you're not going to complain.

Entering the studio, you're greeted by an intern and shown to the set area. You're caught off guard when you see Lev Haiba at the set with you. You are aware of him, though you've never collaborated with him before. You most often see him in perfume/cologne advertisements, while you usually appear for fashion brands.

With the context that your manager wants you in a relationship, though, you start thinking that maybe you're being set up. A sinking feeling in your chest causes you to consider what dating Lev would be like, and then onto Lev himself. What is he like?

"Hey (L/n), it's nice to work with you!" Lev excitedly greets you. He has a wide grin on his face and talks faster than you can even keep up with.

"I'm happy to work with you too Lev" you smile back. You make your decision then and there.

Lev is very handsome, he's a model for crying out loud! But he isn't your type. Superficially, you've always been into tall guys with dark hair. But honestly, appearance didn't matter to you as long as he had certain other traits. Personality-wise, you liked when guys aren't like yourself. You find yourself clashing with Lev simply because the two of you are very similar in your dispositions. It's nice as a friend and colleague relationship, but you don't see it working out romantically.

"Alright Ms. (L/n), please follow me" a younger man calls for your attention and lead you to a dressing/makeup room. Your makeup took a little over half an hour, and then you were helped into the elegant red dress you were given for the shoot.

Following the same man back out, you see Lev already waiting for you so the shoot can begin. You shake hands with the photographer before getting some individual shots with the bags. Then, they decide to have the two of you do some photos together. At first, it's innocent enough, but then they start asking you to get into some slightly more intimate poses. For example, the photographer has their intern move you two into a pose where your back is to Lev's chest. They have him place his arms around you while you hold a handbag (and he has one over his shoulder). It's a very couple-y pose and you can just picture your manager scheming with the shoot photographer. The thing that finally puts you over the edge is when they expect you and Lev to kiss. That basically confirms your suspicion that this was some sort of plot to make the public see you and Lev as a couple and spark a pr relationship between two models. Your heart picks up its pace, but not in a positive way. You start to breathe heavier and feel on the bring of an anxiety attack. The only thing really stopping you is knowing how it could affect your reputation.

It's too much. I need to get out of here.

You settle for a kiss on the cheek, before announcing that you're not feeling very well and rushing off the set and back to your dressing room. You chug from your water bottle and breathe deeply, knuckles white as you clutch the edge of the table. You give yourself a few minutes to breathe before quickly getting out of the red dress and slipping into a slightly more casual black one. You grab your purse and walk back down the hallway, saying thank yous and byes to people as you go.

You give a more personal goodbye to Lev, and give him a kind smile to show that it's not his fault that you ran out. He smiles back at you in understanding as you leave the building, your driver waiting out front for you. The sun is getting lower in the sky, and the streets are still bustling.

After that interesting shoot, you really need to unwind. You have your driver bring you to an upscale club in the heart of Tokyo. You aren't an alcoholic by any means, but you really wanted a distraction and didn't think you would find it in your quiet apartment.

 Finally reaching your destination, your bodyguard opens the door for you. You thank your driver before walking up to the entrance of the club. Several of the people in line excitedly point at you, whisper-shouting that you're even prettier in person and various other compliments. You grin at them before happily greeting the bouncer. This is a club you frequent, and the bouncer is used to seeing you.

You walk inside and immediately feel the speakers vibrating the floor. This dark front hallway merely conceals the colorful dance floor and lit-up bar. One of your favorite things about this club is the lighting perfect for insta pictures. You say hi to some of the people you recognize before feeling the need for a drink.

You head to the VIP section and take a seat. Your bodyguard is hidden away in the back, giving you some semblance of privacy while still ensuring that he'll be ready at a moment's notice, though you doubt you'll need his assistance here. While waiting for the server, you look down from the indoor balcony that gives a view of the dance floor. There are actually a lot more people here than usual, now that you think about it. There's a lot of really tall, really hot guys here tonight on top of that. A server comes by and you order a drink before asking about all of the extra people here tonight. He tells you that Japan's national volleyball team are here

You wait for your drink by doing some more people-watching. You look around the VIP area from the chair you're on when your gaze falls on a man across the room. He seems vaguely familiar, but you can't put a name to the face you're currently openly staring at. He's insanely attractive and fits the tall, dark, and handsome archetype to a T. Even from where you're sitting you can tell he's particularly muscular, and his features are sharply defined.

Is it cheesy and cliché to say this is love at first sight? You can't think of another way to describe it. You feel your heart start to thump faster in your chest, and unlike earlier it's a positive feeling. You look back at him and to your surprise, find that you're making eye contact with him before he quickly averts his eyes. 

Did you just catch him staring at you? Now you have to find out about him. By going over to him and asking? Well no, he had three other guys currently sitting at his booth with him, which runs the risk of him blowing you off even if he is interested. So you do what makes the most sense and ask random clubgoers about him instead of approaching him. Like any drunk person down there would ignore a pretty girl anyway. You head down to the dance floor, where the music is nearly deafening, and try to ask around to find out who this guy is. It takes only one person to find out the identity of the handsome 'stranger'.

A girl around your age is able to tell you that it's Kageyama Tobio, a professional volleyball player. That explains his excellent physique. You look his name up on your phone and sure enough find the man and numerous pictures of him throughout his career. Damn is he hot, especially in his action shots. You also realize you've definitely seen him online before, probably in a headline as part of his impressive volleyball team without even realizing it. Apparently, he's a very talented setter and a key part of his team, despite being one of the younger ones on the team (when you see he's 24 you want to yell out loud that finally an attractive guy is actually your age and not a questionable amount older).

You're told by others that he's 'emotionally unavailable' and that he is already in a committed relationship (with volleyball) though. You aren't going to let that stop you, plus he was actually staring back at you earlier. That has to count for something! Besides, even if it doesn't work out, the chase itself is fun.

You make your way back up to your seat. You feel eyes on you and find him at the other side of the VIP intently staring at you again. One of his teammates (you assume) is sat across from him, though his attention is clearly on you. You wave at him and give him a flirtatious wink, which causes him to furrow his brows. He looks behind and then around himself while you continue to stare at him. Is he really so surprised you're interested in him? Does he not know how attractive he is?

When he's finally alone, you decide to make your move. Pushing your chair back, you make your way over.

"Hi. Mind if I sit?" you ask. You're not going to beat around the bush or worse- make him feel like he's wasting his time.

He looks at you, likely recognizing you as the beautiful woman across the room that seemed interested in him. He then takes in the rest of you, and you're happy you had decided to wear a short but flattering black dress that highlights your favorite features.

"Hey. No" he shortly responds. He shifts over in the booth despite the entire rest of it being empty. You take the opportunity to be close to him and sit in the area he made space for. You bump his shoulder accidentally before placing your drink down.

You sit down and get a good look at him up close for the first time. You have to say, he's even more attractive in person compared to your phone screen. His eye contact with you is inconsistent, as you'll catch his gaze for a few seconds before he looks away with pink cheeks. "I haven't seen you here before" you say, "what are you doing here tonight?" you question, taking a sip of your drink. You want to hear from him, even though you kind of already know the answer. You look up at him to find him already looking at you, for some reason surprised that a pretty girl is actually this interested in speaking with him. After several moments of his incredulous look, he finally answers you.

"I'm on Japan's national volleyball team" he explained, "we're here for 'team bonding' or something". He doesn't say much but you find yourself hanging on every word he speaks. He has an alluringly deep voice that you noticed more with his longer sentence. "I know who you are" he says.

You're shocked by his sudden assertion. Honestly, you shouldn't be because you're literally one of the most famous people in Tokyo, but still. You honestly feel kind of bad that you hadn't really known who he was when he caught your eye from across the room earlier.

"Really?" you ask.

"Who doesn't?" he responds. 

Kageyama does know you. He knows a lot about you, truthfully. You've been his 'celebrity crush' for several years, ever since he happened to see you on the Miss Universe competition representing his country. 

He had been visiting home, watching tv with his sister. Miwa has always been a big fan of reality tv and beauty competitions. He hadn't really been paying much attention to what she was watching, opting to play some random game on his phone while waiting for dinner. That was until his sister started freaking out and squealing at the tv. Who was the older sibling again?

"Tobio it's her! Miss Universe Japan!" she excitedly shouted. "She's so beautiful" she had quieted down a little, but still had her eyes glued to the screen. Kageyama looked up from his phone and at the screen and was surprised to see a breathtakingly beautiful girl wearing the 'Miss Japan' sash. She was smiling brightly and he felt a thump in his chest even though the smile wasn't directly aimed at him.

Words on the bottom of the screen came up: 'Miss Universe Japan: (L/n) (Y/n)'. He immediately went to look up your name online, and found plenty of pictures of you, along with your instagram with hundreds of thousands of followers. He only scrolled for a few seconds before following you and looking back up at the screen, entranced.

It was a whole new thing to see you in front of him now. Slightly older from the first time he had laid eyes on you, but still just as alluring. Your smile still makes his heart skip.

"Well, I'm honored that the Kageyama Tobio knows me" you say. He merely stares back at you in awe at finally meeting you in person as he tries to think of something to say.

One of your favorite poppy songs comes on and you excitedly jump up. He gets slightly nervous at your quick action.

"Dance with me?" you ask. You have a wide smile on your face and hold your hand out to him.

"I don't dance" he tells you. Which is true. Whenever he comes to clubs or bars, he feels out of place. While his friends and teammates are able to unwind and attract the attention of women, he finds it much harder to do either. He's much too quiet and emotionally reserved to hold the attention of most women, while others are put off by his 'unsettling' smile.

"It'll be fun! There's so many people here no one will be looking at you anyway, you have nothing to be worried about" you reason. You can clearly see the inner turmoil written on his face.

Little do you know, Kageyama is so nervous he's going to embarrass himself in front of you. He's never gotten this much personal attention from such a gorgeous girl, let alone a famous one he'd been crushing on for several years. He's almost always had fangirls, but people have always said he's unapproachable and too volleyball-minded for girls to ever have any attraction beyond physical. You've been talking to him for this long though, so he can't help but think this is different and you might actually be genuinely interested in him.

He mutters a small 'ok' and you take your chance before he can change his mind. You grab his hand and pull him from the booth and down the stairs all the way to the dance floor. Turning around to face him, you have to look up to meet his eyes again. Definitely over 6 foot, but he doesn't tower over you as much as Lev does. It's a good, happy medium. He's standing very stiff and looking around at everyone before he looks back down to you. You give him a warm smile, encouraging him to loosen up a little.

You decide it seems like he needs you to help him. You grab his hands and sway back and forth in a goofy way. He only follows your actions, letting himself be wildly flailed around by you. He can't help the smile that breaks out onto his face, one he hasn't let himself show to anyone in a very long time (due to the many comments people had made about it). When you give him a strange look, he quickly tries to go back to his straight face and pulls his hands out of yours, turning around so you can't see his expression. He's already managed to mess up.

That's not how you see it. You're surprised at how his smile makes you feel. You finally understand what people are talking about when they say they have butterflies in their stomach. You feel light and airy, while also being tied down to this world next to him. Your entire body heats up and you swear you're about to catch on fire. You haven't felt this way for a guy in a very long time, especially not this quickly. Everything about him demands your attention and makes you wish you didn't need to blink so you never have to miss a glimpse of him.

"Your smile is cute" you tell him honestly. It's a little unconventional, but you mean what you say. You can tell it's genuine and true, and that in itself is what makes it so beautiful. He gives you a strange look with something you can't really grasp. The best way to describe it is like he's really seeing you for the first time. Not just your face, your body, your looks. He sees into you.

"You're gorgeous" he tells you. It's something you've heard thousands of times but it holds an entirely different meaning when you hear it from his mouth. You glance up at him and find him giving you an intense look of admiration and maybe even more.

"Kiss me" you whisper. He doesn't respond verbally, and instead grants you your request. The butterflies in your stomach explode and go all over your body. It's an amazing sensation that leads you wanting more. His lips are slightly chapped, and you have to admit he seems slightly inexperienced, but you don't care. If anything, it's endearing. You hear some of the people (they sound like guys so you guess they're probably his teammates) whistle and holler in your general direction, but neither of you pay any mind to it. His arms fold around your back and pull you in closer, causing you to reach up and place your arms over his shoulders and around his neck. After what feels like forever, you pull away though he follows you. You hide your face and just embrace him. He's so warm and the feeling calms you. You feel safe with him, and wish the two of you could just be alone with each other.

You tell him as much, and he offers up his place for the two of you to go. You smile at him before texting your driver and your bodyguard (who was watching you now), telling them the address you would be heading to.

Honestly, the rest of the night is history.

A package turned up at your apartment, something which at first makes you a little nervous. Being as famous as you are, it's unsettling to think a 'fan' might show up at your door or have bad intentions with you. Fortunately, the package is addressed to you from your manager. Why not just text me, we're in the 21st century? you think, but pass it off as him being an 'old man' (he's about 50, so you decide).

You sit down with the package on the couch in your patio. Opening it up, you find one of the most popular celeb news magazines and immediately recognize the two people on the cover. It's a picture of you and Tobio walking down the sidewalk after one of your recent coffee dates. He had been walking you to one of your friends apartment buildings to visit her (and more importantly her dog). The photographer had caught you animatedly talking about God knows what, but you were more interested in Tobio. He was looking at you intently with the faintest smile that most people probably wouldn't notice. If they didn't notice that, though, they definitely would notice the look in his eyes: lovestruck. If it was a cartoon you were sure he would have literal hearts in his eyes. You held your frappuccino in the hand not intertwined with Tobio's. Though you could find paparazzi annoying and even creepy at times, you have to admit you love everything about this picture.

The picture of course has a caption. In big letters it reads:

'Tokyo's Hottest New Couple!: (L/n) (Y/n) & Kageyama Tobio are official!'

You can't help the smile on your face. Flipping through the pages, you finally come to the one about you and Kageyama. A small slip of paper falls out when you do so, and you find it's a note from your manager:

Congratulations on front cover again. He's a keeper - Gushiken-san

"What's that?" a familiar voice behind you questions. You feel arms wrap around you and you smile. It seems someone's finally gotten out of bed.

"Us" you show him the cover, to which he makes a low hum in response.

"I'm putting this on the fridge" you joke. You turn around to face him in all of his bedhead glory, wrapping your arms up around his shoulders.

"Seriously? I look weird in that picture" he scoffs. You playfully swat him for making such an objectively wrong claim. You always help him with his self-esteem. He never doubts his abilities in volleyball, but in nearly ever other part of his life he needs some assistance. Even now that the two of you are actually dating he doesn't feel worthy enough, friendly enough, attractive enough for someone like you. You do everything you can to convince him otherwise. He is worthy, sweet to you, and definitely attractive enough.

"You look handsome in it! But you always do so I'm not sure why you're surprised" you teasingly flirt. His cheeks darken and you reach up to pinch one. He moves his head away but moves back to gaze sweetly into your eyes. You look back just as sweet, and can't help but be lost in his beautiful blue eyes.

"If you say so" he responds with a kiss to your cheek. You respond with a kiss to his lips, followed by many more.

An overwritten essay on why Cuphead is the best baby boi and underrated

Alright, so I love The Cuphead Show! It is one of the only good children's cartoons I genuinely enjoy because of how good it is. There are so many wacky and loveable characters on the no-so-normal-at-all Inkwell Isles. You can see fucking walking hamburgers and sandwiches, like, what the hell is this place?

Nonetheless, there are several titles given to many characters. Bon Bon is Crazy Queen, Briney is Pirate Simp, and Cala Maria is still the hottest of queens (that hasn't changed).

However, throughout multiple media, there is one title only given to those who are so small and cute you just want to protect them because they can't protect themselves:

The title of Best Boi.

Now I know all of you are probably saying who you think deserves this title. But I know who it is already. The truest of best bois:

Cuphead.

Now before you start shouting and yelling at my "stupid and untrue" (but totally correct) decision. Some of you are saying Mugman is, but I mean come on we all know that Mugman is the MVP, the crazy going-to-be-a-serial-killer, failed straight man (both in tropes and literally), of the show.

Now I have my reasons for this post. And I'm going to lay them down. So ladies and gentlemen, or fucking literally spaghetti and sandwiches, here are my many reasons why Cuphead is the best boi of this show.

So look my first reason is the fact that this kid is legit the only SANE one in the ENTIRE show. Like Elder Kettle is a fucking pyromaniac who tried to kill his grandkids on several occasions, and Mugman...which...

Jesus this mug needs some fucking therapy or anger management lessons.

And come on his friend is still a con artist (I still love her tho), the devil is the devil, Dice is fashionably vain and has an I want to be appreciated by my gay boss complex, and henchmen is...actually henchmen is cool, being the REAL straight man, but other than these two the other characters have fucking problems.

All this kid really did was neglect his chores to have fun and that's it (I know some of you are talking about the CRAPPY Lost in the Woods episode but I'll get to that). Unlike the other characters, he NEVER ONCE expressed any malice, aggression, or sadism towards ANYONE or anything. I know you all are saying henchmen didn't have that either but I'll talk about him later.

Going back to this, let me remind all of you that Cuphead is a CHILD, and so is Mugman but, he's too gone to be saved let's be real. This cup is a child, so of course, he's gonna be a brat sometimes. And even I roll my eyes when he does something. But I mean we were all little shits back then, that's a FACT.

Another thing, he's not a pushover. He WILL call people out or stand up to people who were being jerks, and that's actually one of the traits I like that he has. In most kids' shows, the protagonist is overly nice, shy, or overconfident, and just ORDINARY and BORING. In The Cuphead Show, Cuphead is NOT that. He's a troublemaking brat who constantly forgets to look where he leaps, but there is SO MUCH MORE to him than just that.

What I can appreciate about this show is that these characters show more and more depth as the show goes on (which is why this show needs to be renewed!). And the plot twists are actually good.

Cuphead is the troublemaker trope. He is a mischievous brat, but now that I rewatch this show he acts exactly like what he is, a KID. Not to mention the fact that there is more to him than meets the eye. He is scared of the Devil, not because his SOUL is in danger, but because this is a deity that can take away everyone he loves. He is surprisingly humble, accepting that he lost on Dice's show, and doesn't call himself a hero not ONCE, even after he freed souls from damnation from the devil. He can be cocky, but he doesn't ever rub these successes on ANYONE, not even the Devil, who he struck with his own pitchfork.

He has hidden talents, being able to play the piano like a fucking G and being able to be smart at certain things, like sparking back a show like he did for Dice (which was honestly so fucking nice of him, even after this guy from his perspective rigged his show, he still remained a huge fan of him). He can be dumb at times, but most of the time, that stupidity is more childish naivety when you look back on it (the only exception is when he couldn't guess simple questions on Dice's show).

He can have some self-control, being able to refuse Bon Bon's bitch castle. He was willing to give Chalice (who left him and his brother in jail) the benefit of the doubt and still considered her his friend, only getting mad at her when she reveals she lied about a fucking MOB (I'd be mad too).

Not to mention, he is a pretty brave kid. He WILLINGLY went into hell to get his brother back, I honestly DO NOT KNOW WHY PEOPLE DON'T TALK ABOUT THIS MOMENT MORE and faced the Devil. He won, also freeing the captive souls. People need to comment on this moment more because it is awesome. And going back in season 2, he demanded the ghosts to release Chalice when she was stuck in a painting. So, he can be a coward, but when it comes to those he cares about, he toughens up.

Another thing is that he can be a total sweetie. He's not as polite as his brother, but he is a bit of a sweetheart. He constantly comforts Mugman and encourages his brother's confidence, he doesn't blame or hate Chalice even when she ditched them to the stony lonesome, he isn't really that antagonistic towards the Devil as Big D is to him, he frees the souls, he helps king dice, in the Christmas special he admits he hasn't been perfectly good stating it's hard to stay good all the time (which is understandable), just being grateful for Santa (the devil) showing up and being able to meet him, even apologizing for "misjudging" the Baronness (even though he was totally right), and (other than that bitch Jimmy) never really showed any grudges toward anyone.

Another is that he shows remorse and takes responsibility for his actions. Even when that psychopath Bowlboy was planning a double suicide (pretty much what happened in a nutshell), and he got out of it, he still showed concern for the crazy bastard when he got launched off in a rocket.

The other thing is that he is a very fun protagonist, and he actually makes things happen. Like, no offense I love Mugman, but if it was just him, all we'd see is just him doing boring chores and miaming ice cream men.

...actually, I'd be down to see that, but I like Cuphead's optimism and hot-headed self-balancing out Mugman's pessimism and...hot-headedness...

The last thing is that...

He's adorable! They did well with his design. A simple kid with simple clothes who likes risk and adventure, but has childish charm and cuteness. He's small, got those big cocky eyes, and has optimism and an innocent attitude that's undeniably endearing. He can be annoying, but his happy personality and tendency to look on the bright side of things make you just want to hug and squeeze him. Especially when he's sad. Because he doesn't get sad or cry often, it hurts when he does cry or make this face that'll break anyone's heart:

I'm sad now.

I wanna hug this sad boi.

Now, I know all of you are saying that Henchmen is the best boi, but not really, he's adorable and I love him. It's just the fact that he isn't hateful or sadistic, but he doesn't really do much about it. He does tell the devil that blowing up annoying ass elves is not something Santa would do. or something, and he has a bet with the devil (that he deserved to win). But that's really about it. He isn't really miserable or sad, so you don't want to hug and squeeze him.

Again, I LOVE henchmen, I just haven't really wanted to give him a big hug because I don't want him to be sad. He's a cute character, but not really one that you feel sad for. And that's good, I never want to see him sad.

Now, ALL of these traits that I wrote down that help explain why Cuphead is the best boi is EXACTLY why I HATE the Lost in the Woods episode because, WHERE THE HELL DID ALL OF IT GO? Mugmans is still the same, delusional, sociopath, MVP, but where the hell is Cuphead?

That's NOT my baby boi!

Why Nine Is Loved So Much Already

Just watched Sonic Prime and it is AMAZING! It has stellar animation, unforgettable characters, and an engaging and exciting plot.

Among all of that, however, one character stood out to me more than all of the others: Nine. The "edgy, emo" Tails from the first Shatterverse. He's already a prevalent character, praised for his design, nature, and fantastic acting by Ashleigh Bell. He's just an excellent character in general, being complex and complicated.

He has a snarky, distant, and almost broken personality, from what I've seen, he IS almost broken. He's nearly broken because of what drives him in the first batch of episodes: Hope.

Hope can be an excellent thing. It can help you overcome obstacles, it can help you move forward, and it can help you win. However, what that hope exactly is and how you achieve it determines your character and morals.

What Nine HOPES for is a better future for himself. That is a good thing, however, the way he tries to achieve it is morally grey. It is a selfish hope that can potentially hurt others. Nine KNOWS it's selfish, he just doesn't care, the world treated him like dirt, and EVERYONE on it treated him like dirt, why should he care about how it affects it?

One more thing to note is how he acts around the others, Sonic specifically. He is curt, snarky, aloof, and strictly business with them, seeing no personal value in them other than using them due to how the world around him is.

Sonic, however, he's softer and opens slightly up. Sonic is open, kind, and patient toward the kit, something Nine never got to experience. He likes Sonic but doesn't know how to feel about it. He doesn't show trust in the blue blur. He likes him, but he isn't sure if he can truly trust him. But despite that, through out the series, the only time he genuinely smiles is with Sonic, no one else.

That's why he wanted Sonic to join him to live in The Grim with him.

Sonic makes him feel good, he makes him genuinely happy. He never thought about getting Sonic home, he only thought about getting the hedgehog to HIS idea of a true home.

One where it's just the two, where nobody can ever hurt them again. To him, it'd be the perfect world, a place where it's just him and the person he's close to.

But then Sonic tells him it's not going to work out. The worst part?

He's right.

Not just because of the problems with the Shatterverse, but also because it really isn't going to work out for them. While it's never outright stated if looked closer you can see that Sonic likes TAILS, not NINE. He cares for Nine BECAUSE he is a version of his brother, not because he cares for the separate person he is.

Nine is NOT Tails. Not just because he is different from Tails, but because he just isn't. Compared to Sonic, Nine isn't much better either. He DOES like Sonic and WHO he IS, but it's because of what Sonic can GIVE him that he does.

To Nine, Sonic can bring him EVERYTHING he ever wanted: A home, love, care, companionship, and family. To Nine, Sonic is his HOPE. If he loses that, he's back to square one, and that is what he desperately DOESN'T want.

It's heartbreakingly tragic and horribly unfair to both of them.

Another thing is his backstory. It wasn't over the top, it was what everyone EXPECTED to happen. Because Sonic wasn't there he was bullied relentlessly and became cold and resentful of the world. It's simple and not over-exaggerated and I appreciate that. It's not annoyingly complicated or trying hard to make you cry, it's just a simple statement of what happened. And that's the part that hurts, that we were RIGHT.

Because we were already close and emotionally invested in Tails, it was easy for us to sympathize with Nine. This was a character we loved, and looked up to, only to become cold and emotionally exhausted towards everything around him.

But the part that is great about him is that we don't know what his arc is going to be. Is he the character that opens up more and makes friends, is he the character that remains neutral, or is he going to be the true villain? We can't figure it out.

He's complicated and confusing but it's BECAUSE of that that we love him so much.

The final reason is the fact that he's just THAT character you WANT to win. He's so heart-wrenchingly tragic you just want him to achieve his goal of being happy, no matter HOW he achieves it. Even if he becomes the true antagonist I KNOW that all of us would root for him anyway because he DESERVES to win because he LOST so MUCH.

And that's why he's quite possibly going to be the greatest character ever written (not that he wasn't already in my opinion) in the Sonic universe.

Why Nine is The Secondary Protagonist in Sonic Prime

I recently made an appreciation post about this edgy little fella, however, when I rewatch the show (yes I rewatch it several times daily, so what?) I feel the cogs in my brain turn and create several theories. Looking back at Nine, I realized he will be one of the BIG characters, not the big (relevant to the plot and development), but the BIG (really fucking important).

As in MIGHT BE THE DEUTERAGONIST type of BIG.

Sonic is the protagonist, as he usually is in his games, however, Nine is another huge character who is not only crucial to the plot but might also twist the plot as well.

A deuteragonist is an essential secondary character in a narrative, second only to the protagonist, and may act like a constant companion or someone who aids the protagonist. However, the deuteragonist can change from helping the protag to actively opposing them, depending on their own conflict or plot.

Nine already proves to be a huge character in Sonic Prime, however, in the first batch of episodes, Shadow does somewhat take up some of this role. However, he might change to become a tritagonist in future episodes. Someone who helps the protagonist, is the third most important character, and often the third member of the group.

So Nine might be the TRUE deuteragonist and I DO have a list of reasons why I think so.

So, with that said, let's begin.

1. He is already established to be an important character

From the first moment we meet him, we already know he's going to be a very important character in the plot. He fixes up Sonic's shoes and gloves figures out how to use a shard to open a portal, and is a very formidable ally. He is an important character to keep the plot going and to help explain the plot. However, it's not like those Sonic games, where he's just there to explain the plot. He HAS a character and personality, he's not just a cardboard cutout.

He HAS depth and complexity to him. Something I can appreciate considering the past media of any version of Tails the past years (not including Frontiers, that game was amazing). He's also obviously going to continue to be an important character in season two as well.

2. He's a very engaging character

Let's all admit it: Nine is the most interesting character in Sonic Prime. Not just because of his mindset of "get this however you can no matter what" and "do whatever it takes and needs to survive". Not just that but his snarky and cold personality combined with his nine-tailed badassery just makes him an engaging and enjoyable character.

The things he does can leave people scrambling for answers. Why exactly did he change his mind about helping the rebels? What is he planning? What is going on in that fluffy head of his?

So many questions that leave us waiting with anticipation for the next batch of episodes for answers.

3. People can relate to his trauma

Nine's backstory is what we expected, but that doesn't mean it holds back punches. Without Sonic to defend him from bullies, without Sonic to care for him and take him in, he learned to trust and look out only for himself. It's a sad backstory and it explains why he's so guarded and aloof all the time.

I've read posts that state they relate deeply to Nine and can immerse themselves in his character with empathy. I can confirm as being a victim of abuse. He's aggressive and snarky because he has walls, walls that he put up to never get hurt again. He doesn't try to justify himself in his backstory, stating he "wasn't minding his surroundings" instead of "I didn't know" or "it wasn't my fault" he shows signs of a sort of self-resentment. Again, I can relate SO MUCH to, thinking that I could've prevented it and holding myself responsible for not doing anything, that I could've stopped it from happening.

Those who suffer or have suffered can see themselves in Nine, and as a result, the sorrow we feel for him can hit harder if we know what it was like.

4. We don't know where his character is going to end up

Another bunch of posts I've seen about Nine is that we legitimately don't know where his character is going to end up. He's muddled deep in his mystery and inner turmoil that we can't see the deep end of what he's going to be. A hero? A villain? An Anti-hero?

Just what's going to happen to him?!

He has a plan but what is it?

5. He's the most controversial character

Nine's intentions and character have been put in many perspectives on what people think he's planning, what he's going to be, why he does certain things, whether he cares for Sonic or not, whether he trusts Sonic or not, and MORE.

He's been theorized and twisted into what people think about him and what he's going to do. In my opinion, if a character does this to a community, you KNOW you're doing something right. Controversial characters are very mysterious and morally ambiguous, you don't truly know why they do the things they do or what they plan, but you have your own ideas on what might happen and other people do too, despite them possibly being different from yours.

Controversy (WHEN NOT LEADING TO VIOLENCE AND DEATH THREATS) is very fun and interesting. Reading people's thoughts even if they differ from your own, with the possibility that they might change your own theories is a very enlightening and interesting thing!

6. He has a completely opposite goal to Sonic

It's very clear that Sonic and Nine have different goals that clash with each other. Sonic, being the all-loving hero he is, wants to return home and see his true friends again, not to mention help and protect the other shatter spaces. Nine on the other hand wants to make a new home, a world with just him and Sonic and nobody else, not caring for the other shatter spaces or anybody else.

Their goals clash with each other and can't be fulfilled at the same time. Nine's goal includes only him and Sonic and no one else. Sonic's goal includes others, not to mention these two are from two completely different universes.

It's clear these two, no matter how close they are, won't give up their goal for the other, so unless their willing to compromise, it might lead to something bigger.

7. His goal separates him from other variations of himself and others

While he is just another variation of one of the main characters, his goal of achieving something beyond his own universe along with keeping Sonic differentiated from the other main variations who want something within their own shatter space. Thorn wanted to keep the jungle from being destroyed, and Dread wanted the shard out of greed, the rebels want to put the council out of power and take back their land, the jungle variants wanted to eat and live among the jungle again, and the pirates are just typical pirates.

Unlike the others, whose goals can be achieved in their universes, Nine wants nothing to do with his own. Like Sonic, Nine's goal is related to the shatter space.

8. Nine truly has no one EXCEPT Sonic

Another thing to differentiate him from the other versions of himself and the main cast is how Nine has nothing to lose. Other versions of him have a group of the main cast, hell even Rusty Rose finds herself valued (not sentimentally but still) and useful to the council. Nine, however, has nobody until this bright blue hedgehog told him about a life he could've had, a life Sonic gave to his other self.

So it's no wonder he took the very person who can give him the same life to a new shatter space. He wants that desperately. It's no wonder he doesn't show an interest in getting Sonic home anymore, if he does that, the chance of having the life he always wanted, that hope, would be gone forever. I don't think Nine's going to let that happen easily.

9. Everyone roots for him and wants him to be happy

There are zero people that don't want him to achieve his goal of love and happiness. Not just for the fact that he's a version of a character we're already emotionally invested in, but also because Nine is his own person. He's still a person who was horribly abused to the point of being jaded and cold.

Seeing him smile or show comfort really melts my heart cause this kid deserves SO MUCH! I know you all agree. But it is depressing to remember that Sonic NEEDS to go back and restore his world, he'll have to leave Nine behind. I don't think they're going to go with Sonic taking Nine with him because of what might happen with the whole "they can't see each other" stuff.

And with how stubborn and desperate Nine is...

I'm curious about how they figure this out and resolve this.

10. He might affect the plot

A protagonist is not just the lead character who pushes the plot along, they also affect and can possibly change the plot as well. Sonic already kicked off the plot, it's possible for Nine to affect it in a BIG way. This can lead to a LOT of possibilities when you consider that. We KNOW he has a plan and it has something to do with the Chaos Council capturing him. This fact can lead to a LOT of interpretations.
