“If you CHOOSE to stay in one of those evacuation areas-” we need to have public transportation running out of evacuation zones and free public storm shelters before you can say bullshit like that. we need to have free wheelchair ramp instillation on homes. we need to have free out of state pet boarding facilities. we need public infrastructure for the people in flood zones since these hurricanes are only getting worse and they are not going to stop.

guys???? my street is flooded help
It should be illegal to withhold hurricane coverage for two hours after broadcast for non cable customers. What the actual fuck
My mom doesn’t know how to work her smart tv and neither do I, I can’t figure out how to get local fucking news. She even has cable I just want my local station and I am not a dumb person and I have been trying to find news that isn’t twelve hours old since 8 am.
Like I know how to use YouTube but they are holding the news for two hours bc I’m not paying for it, except I am fucking paying for it I just can’t access it bc my moms tv is to smart to do what it’s told
but instead we’re just getting hit with another hurricane smh

Reblogging because this is true of Hurricane Milton too
I think if we could just call in the Amish communities, all of the damage from Hurricane Helene could be rebuilt in a day, two tops.

Hurricane Milton x Helene fanart!! I love Milene so much, the dynamic is just 💔💔 like Milton came through Florida RIGHT after Helene they are in love omg 😔
The thought of something so inherently non human or something so powerful that it is simply a force of nature experiencing love just feels like something humans were not meant to see. There’s something beautiful about it, that we can’t quite comprehend. There is so much beauty in what we don’t understand.
Jokes aside, stay safe everyone!! My heart goes out to everyone affected by the hurricanes, please take care of yourself!

Thought I would share this here. Image is a clickable link that will take you to the account that posted it! ID has now been corrected, and is in alt text. It is also below, please excuse the redundancy:

Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee (EWOC) tweeted: “No one can make you stay in an unsafe worksite. Close up and walk out with your coworkers until management or nature fixes the problem. Contact us for help.”
EWOC quoted their own tweet and added, “If your boss won’t let you evacuate: Convince as many coworkers as you can to all leave together & contact us right away. You have the right to organize & leave an unsafe worksite. If they’re not bluffing & still try to fire you after the storm, we’ll help you fight it.”
Attached to the OP is a meme of a skeleton marching away, titled “Just walk out - you can leave!” It lists, “wildfire smoke, hurricane, flooding, no heat, powers out, no water, tornado warning, AC broke, weird fumes.” Bottom text reads, “Climate sucks… hit da bricks!” Overlaid is the meme’s author, “@/organizeworkers.”
End ID.

guys you should think about donating blood if you can bc most places will give you a gift card and you get free food and drinks after and since they take 1/8 of your blood you can get really drunk really fast with a lot less alcohol (or do the same with sugar if you want) and also as gerard way once said “give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough”
and the entire bleeders tour with black veil brides was focused on getting people to donate blood to the american Red Cross because of the lack of donors and the high need for blood transfusions in hospitals around the United States
with hurricane helene and milton, lots of people in the southeast United States were injured and many died. during both storms, hospitals and blood banks were urging people to donate blood if they were in unaffected areas. most people are hesitant to donate blood because they fear the pain, or they simply don’t want to go out of their way for it, or any other reasons. finger pricks that are typically done at the doctor to measure hemoglobin levels are also done before you can donate blood to make sure you have the proper levels for it, and the needle used to donate blood actually hurts less. i know this is a lot of rambling, but as someone who has a heart for helping people, it’s something i really care about. i still can’t donate because i have anemia, but i have a feeling that this community will be more willing to donate a lot of things, not just blood. i know a lot of people that are fans of my chemical romance, black veil brides, and other similar bands that are more than willing to donate to charities, they volunteer their time whenever they can, they make efforts to protect the environment, and they’re very generous people in whatever ways they can be. this probably isn’t the *best* place to post this, but I know this is where the most people will see it.
so, if you can, please think about donating blood at your local blood bank! (you also usually get a gift card of some sort and they give you plenty of sugar before they send you on your way)
All my doctors offices are in Zone A. The aquarium is in Zone A. All of our museums are in Zone A. Mote Marine is in Zone A. Columbia Restaurant, the entirety of Ybor City, the Ca’ d’Zan, TECO Big Ben Station, La Segunda, American Victory, the streetcar, the Straz Center, UT and USF, Gasparilla, MOSI, Lowry Park Zoo, Big Cat Rescue, Whimzyland, Frenchy’s, and Horseshoe Island. All of these iconic places. All of these pieces of Tampa Bay’s culture might be gone in less than three days. All those people, and all those animals. All that LIFE. It will all be gone soon. I’m so heartbroken. I feel like a fish in a glass bowl again. Knowing that all it takes is just a little crack in my safe small world to end everything.
It just struck me that our whole coastline is about to change. The last time a hurricane directly hit Tampa was in 1921 and it literally split an island in half. Every previous direct hit since Florida became a state has impacted at Cat 4. They were all described as having “reshaped the coastline”.
I am not a religious person but god damn there’s a lot of irony and parallels in this world that just don’t seem like coincidence. As far as God or deities go I don’t think they’re real. I don’t think there’s a higher power. I am scientific-minded. BUT, there’s something about Indigenous beliefs that never falters.
I’ve lived most of my life here in Tampa Bay. A lot of us know about the Tocobaga burial grounds. There’s a legend that they’re blessed and that blessing is what protects the Tampa Bay Area from direct hits by hurricanes.
Last year, some dumb fuck destroyed a mound to build a driveway. The four people living there before had never touched it. They respected it. Then this happens. The burial grounds have been disturbed before but unintentionally. This person intentionally disrespected a grave.
Now, there’s a Cat 5 hurricane, the fourth strongest in history, barreling towards Tampa for the first time since 1921. You cannot convince me that’s a coincidence. I am a reasonable woman and because of that I am superstitious. I have long been an advocate for Indigenous rights and the Land Back movement. I do my best to be as respectful as possible to earth and life around me. Never before have I found myself drawn to religion but, every time I find myself questioning my sanity or my beliefs, I find it has something to do with Indigenous Americans. That’s not coincidence, that’s a pattern. Patterns mean something. I think it’s time I learned more about the spiritual side of Native American history.
I kept this in drafts for after the hurricane but now there’s an update! The streak continues and the offerings worked! Tocobaga protects us yet again.

Lieutenant Dan will be fine. He might just be better off than the rest of you.

Dude named Marvel survived the 1848 one.
The cranes, who symbolize longevity and resilience in Native American culture, were taking their time to stay behind and warn us. I don’t care how skeptical you are about spirituality, there are some things that just can’t be explained. Personally, I like to imagine this is how the Tocobaga rub it in our faces. They deserve that satisfaction.
