2018 marked the year where I started sculpting again, and tried super sculpey for the first time. I think it shows that sculpting is the medium I enjoy the most. This page hasn't been live for a full year yet, but it has grown a lot! And so have I, and I look forward to grow more with my followers and fellow artists in the new year!❤️😊 #2018bestnine #art #artist #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #paleoartist #dinoart #dinofacts #sculpture #supersculpey #paleoart #happynewyear #hny https://www.instagram.com/p/BsDr-MqFF5R/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n2j68x8z4vbv

Ooooo Interesting!!!
Flower Language Time Again~
So, with the Episode 8 Preview providing us with this image:
And with the flowers in it looking so similar to, and reminding many of, Kagura’s death scene in a field of flowers:
I decided to do some research into what flower this might be (for both Setsuna’s scene here and Kagura’s). What I found provided some interesting results!
I think that the flower is a white Japanese anemone. They are a flower that is related to the buttercup family, which is fascinating, since the flower often associated with Rin in the Inuyasha Exhibition goods has been a Japanese buttercup. Also, another name for anemone is “windflower.” This “refers to the fact that it grows where the wind blows openly.”
And here are some symbolic meanings of the flower:
While in Japanese the while anemone flower symbolizes:
or “truth/sincerity,” “expectation/anticipation,” and “hope, wish, and aspiration.”
The meaning of the flower being connected to things like “the death of a loved one,” “fragility of life,” and etc. all fit with Kagura’s death. But there some other interesting names, meanings, and origins to this flower and its name.
While most of the myth doesn’t really fit Kagura and Sesshomaru, there are aspects of the myth that do stand out now with Yashahime in the mix and the introduction of Kirinmaru and the Four Perils.
Basically, in the myth, Aphrodite fell in love with a handsome young man named Adonis. But her other lover was Ares (God of War) and she warned Adonis about him, stating that her lover could turn into a wild beast. At one point Adonis is injured by a wild boar. And the anemone was create d from the tears of Aphrodite mixing with the blood of Adonis as she held him in her arms. As we know, Kirinmaru is referred to as The King of Beasts and one of the Four Perils is a Boar Demon:
Those aspects could definitely be coincidence. Though, after this most recent episode (Episode 7), in which Riku definitely seems to be linking the apple he ate with the Biblical/Western association of apples with sin…who knows. We already have some Buddhist elements mixed in with that Biblical element/reference, so some Greek/Roman mythology too…why not, lol!
But more interestingly than that is the fact that the anemone in Greek means this:
The Daughter of the Wind.
I also found this meaning/symbolism for the flower as well:
“A new beginning and anticipation as the flower closes its petals at night and blossom again in the morning.”
Those last two meanings are the ones that I think could connect to Setsuna. That and the fact that Setsuna displays wind based powers and attacks, which would connect her to the alternative name of anemone - “windflower,” just like Kagura.
As always, please feel free to add on! :D

Sesshomaru & Rin’s Relationship
There are many interpretations for Sesshomaru and Rin’s relationship, but in my opinion their relationship was always meant to be viewed as familial/platonic.
The reason I am addressing this is because a translation by @lilyginnyblackv2 recently caught my eye. It was a question regarding Sesshomaru buying Rin’s kimonos. This is the answer to the question from Rumiko herself.
“Takahashi: After receiving this question, I gave it some thought. And I thought it might be that Sesshomaru would order Janken to purchase kimono again and again and again until one was brought to him that suited her. And I also thought that he probably didn’t convey a clear idea of it to begin with.”
My takeaway from Rumiko’s answer is that Sesshomaru is very purposeful in the kimono designs he eventually chooses for Rin. If Jaken doesn’t come back with one he likes, Sesshomaru will send Jaken back until he finds one he deems suitable for Rin. So this made me want to take a closer look at the symbolism of the kimonos Sesshomaru chooses for Rin.
After Rin is left in Kaede’s village, we know Sesshomaru continues to visit and provide her with kimonos as she grows. We have two examples:
The purple kimono with the yellow butterflies has been analyzed in this post.
However, I have yet to see any analysis for her pink kimono. What caught my eyes are the balls. @jojo-ing brought up the temari balls in this post.
What are temari balls? What do they symbolize and why are they important?
According to these posts and websites, temari balls symbolizes “loyalty and friendship.” Temari balls are also typically given to children by their parents. This is interesting because Mohara has temari balls in her background ED that we attribute to Inukag and Kagome, and the purposefully chosen kimono from Sesshomaru to Rin features what looks like temari balls- children’s toys that symbolize loyalty and friendship and that are often given to children by their parents or a close family member.
So what does this mean in regards to Sesshomaru and Rin? I think that it means their relationship is familial and platonic, based on trust and unconditional love that is not romantic or sexual in nature, nor do I think it will turn that way once Rin comes “of age.” The temari ball references combined with the use of onago to describe Rin versus onna and all of the symbolism pointing to childhood and youth, including the recent merch which features her as a child despite confirming her teen form is in the tree, makes me believe that Sunrise wants us to see Rin as a child so that we don’t see Sesshomaru and her relationship as romantic or sexual.
Concluding Thoughts: I think Sesshomaru and Rin’s relationship is supposed to be familial and platonic, without any romantic or sexual undertones developing even when Rin becomes an adult. I could also be wrong and misinterpreting many things about their relationship, but given that all their canon interactions in the manga and original anime are familial and platonic interactions between an 8 year old child and 19 year old adult, and that Sunrise has yet to try to change our perception of that relationship, I feel my interpretation is correct.
Also thank you to @darkwitchofslytherin for helping me think through some ideas used in this post!

The Flowers in Yashahime Ep. 8:
The land that Setsuna is shown on has two sets of flowers. One set of flowers is purple with yellow in it’s center. The other set is white with yellow in its center. They both have yellow centers, but those centers differ. The white flower’s yellow center is just a circle, nothing sticking out, but the purple flowers have yellow sprouts in the center as well as the yellow circle. This indicates, to me anyway, that they are two different kinds of flowers.
When it comes to the white flowers, I still think they are white Japanese anemones:
In the picture above, you can even see how there are two “rings” in the center, which would reflect the center of the anemone flower here. I’ve already talked about the anemone flower though, so I’m going to focus the rest of this post on the purple flowers. To me, the purple flowers look like crocus flowers:
Same petal shape, color, and there are the yellow sprouts in the middle, just like in the anime image. While not native to Japan, they are native to Western China (according to the Wiki page). That being said, let’s look into the flower language of it and also into the mythology of it.
For meanings, when you look up what the flowers meaning, you get stuff like “youthful gladness,” “joyfulness,” “hope,” and so forth. On the Japanese site hananokotoba(dot)com, I also got this meaning:
It’s stating that the meaning of a purple crocus flower is “regretful love.” Though the purple color is also linked to “dignity, pride, and success.” That’s a general symbolism of the color purple though.
Looking at the etymology and Greek Legend that goes with it is pretty interesting though:
The source for this bit of information above came from here: h t t p s : / / w w w . f l o w e r m e a n i n g . c o m / c r o c u s - f l o w e r - m e a n i n g /
Now, I could absolutely be wrong on the type of flower that the purple flower is meant to be. So, if anyone has any other different ideas on what it could be, please feel free to comment and share! :)
But yeah, I found that to be pretty interesting and some nice food for thought.
🙄🙄🙄 how tf is it disrespectful to theorize?!
So apparently we're disrespectful for making more plausible theories than these sessrinners could ever do? K
Okay! Thank you! I've been saying this!
Since some posts have been made talking about sideburns. Here are some sideburn comparisons. Towa and Setsuna with the guys (Sesshomaru, Inuyasha (Human Form), Inu no Taisho, and Naraku).
With Towa, it is easy to tell what is her sideburn and what is her regular hair. Towa's sideburns very much so resemble Sesshomaru's, Inu no Taisho's, and Inuyasha's (human form, his half-demon appearance doesn't really seem to have sideburns). For Setsuna it is harder. Is that long strand a regular piece if her hair or a very long sideburn like Naraku's?
Now as for the female characters:
Both Rin and Kagome have short and easily distinguishable sideburns.
Sango...the way her hair moves in action makes it seem like those pieces are moreso side burns than normal pieces of hair, but they are pretty wide and thick sideburns.
Kikyo is unknown, the same for Sesshomaru's mother too. With Kikyo, I couldn't find an image that made it clear if she had sideburns or not, while Sesshomaru's mother it is likely regular hair framing her ears, but in some images it looks like sideburns. But I sincerely doubt this, since the strands are *so* long.
And last, we have Kagura. It has been noted in a couple posts that in some manga panels it is obvious that beads are in her hair, with the black sticking out of the bottom being the ends of her hair, rather than earrings. We can see that above too. The beads are placed too high up to be earrings.
Towa's sideburns match Sesshomaru's side nicely, but are even slightly longer and more turned, as for Setsuna, the strand of hair...Kagome and Rin's sideburns are too short. Kikyo's is unknown, the same with Sesshomaru's mother. And Sango's is shaped totally differently.
But Naraku and Kagura? They match pretty well. In fact Setsuna could probably do a similar thing with the hair beads as Kagura does.
Complete facts its the first thing I thought of! And she sounds younger than the twins?! Even Moroha Like wtf!?
I'm like why is Rin still speaking in 3rd person???
There’s something I wanted to point out after the panic that the preview caused and that will deeply disturb me in case Rin is somehow confirmed to be the mother.
殺生丸さま、りんは信じております
せっしょうまるさま、りんはしんじております
Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin ha shinjite orimasu
literally: Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin trusts you.
Not only in her conversation with Sesshoumaru is Rin using kenjougo - the humble form of the honorific language keigo used by subordinates towards their superiors - but she is literally still using the third person instead of a personal pronoun that belongs to the kenjougo category, just like Japanese kids do and just like Rin used to do when little.
While it is true that it wasn’t unusual in feudal Japan for wives to address their husbands with this humble form of language, no one in Inuyasha does that - not even Sango who calls Miroku houshi-sama because of his honourable position. Even though Sango uses a honorific title for her husband, she doesn’t speak in third person and she doesn’t use kenjougo forms like te-orimasu seen above.
As emphasized by her voice, this speech pattern still frames Rin as a childish character in a position of inferiority towards her saviour, who is now supposed to be her husband. And you know who is the other character who speaks like Rin? Jaken, Sesshoumaru’s servant.
