I think a lot of these guys are just mad they couldn't get into feminist social groups when they were younger, they got rebuffed, so now they want to be on 'the other side of the equation' and feel what it's like to be the ones rejecting people [from what they see as] a 'special club'. "Bullying-reversal" syndrome. (It doesn't matter whether they were actually 'bullied', but that they feel bullied. That's what changes the psyche.)
