to the beautiful writers that might see this, ao3 is currently being scrapped by an AI company called RIVD. this isn't your usual AI text scrapping, they are specifically targeting ao3 to feed their own AI / "tech-oriented" fanfiction site
their "takedown form" demands that you give them your full legal name and address. they do not say what they're doing with your personal details. there's no proof that this form works
until ao3 comes out with a proper statement or manages to block their scrapper, just lock your fics for registered users

It is with a heavy heart I had to make the decision to secure my writing. I went back and forth on it for a while, but ultimately decided to lock the House of Ruin (The Abyss' Chosen) series as well.
Due to all the Ai scraping and fic theft going on (I have had one of my fics plagiarized already and its a pretty violating experience, as well as a huge headache to get rectified). HM and all my other works are now locked and only available on Ao3.
They are not to be posted and have not been posted on any other sites (except for the first chapter here along with Ecstasy).
It sucks, but people and those choosing to use Skynet for evil are wildin a bit too much on the internet.

This. My notes are full of random scenes and lines from fanfics that I remember out of nowhere and I have to write it down so I can search it later. Even the unfinished ones, i come back to them from time to time, just to warm my heart once more

I don't think fic writers know how much they matter
Do you know how many times you distracted me when I was hurt or lonely? Do you know how many times a line or a scene from fanfic marked me so much that I remembered years later, even though I can’t recall my own phone number?
Even if the fic isn’t perfect or popular or multi-chaptered… Sometimes there’s just one sentence that changed me.

Has anyone made a god au for the mcu?
Like, the gods are amongst us mortals, and they’ve got like followers/worshipers and stuff, and they can like access the information of their followers because they’re gods duh
I should probably specify that I’m talking about an irondad fic. I want this as an irondad fic
The great Tony Stark, god of technology, inventor and innovator, creator of things to further humanity along, with as many followers as people have phones, tvs, radios, and cars. His followers buy exclusively his tech, and the richer ones donate money to speed up his research
Hawkeye, god of archery, whose majority of followers come and go with time, but a select few stick around, devoting their life to the art of the bow & arrow
Vision, god of the internet (whose father is the god of technology, obviously), who gains power every moment someone uses the internet, and IS the robot tracking your info to give you some Useful ads, whose followers meme in his name
Bruce Banner, the god of sciences (he has SEVEN PHDS MAN), who learns all he can and shares it all with the scientific community, whose other form, Hulk, may or may not be a god in and of himself, whose followers all devote their lives to research, some on his second form specifically
Of course there’s Thor, god of thunder, and Loki, god of mischief…
But then there’s just. Peter Parker, god of spiders.
Of course, not very many people like spiders, and those who do probably don’t like them enough to devote any time to the god of them… unless they’re trying to form some weird cult or something. And there’s probably a major population of people that aren’t even aware that ‘god of spiders’ is even a thing? Like there’s probably a Wikipedia page or something that lists every god, but I doubt anyone would pay too much attention to a god of spiders.
Like maybe some people do worship him but it’s probably really weird and he’d be like ‘umm I appreciate that you’re following me, but I would prefer that you don’t sacrifice anyone to me?? Because one that’s illegal and I enjoy following laws and two,,, it kinda makes me uncomfortable so please stop’
So just imagine like. Pete having a rough day getting bullied by Flash about being the god of such a ‘creepy’ thing, when suddenly, a shout from an alleyway! He hurries to investigate and someone’s getting mugged! He webs up the threat and the person he saved is just like ‘thank you!! Who are you?’ and he just panics and says ‘uhhhh I’m spider-man’ and the rest is history :)
But then people start getting interested in Spider-Man so they google ‘is there a spider god’ and then they go harass Peter like ‘hey you’re the god of spiders, so who’s spider-man? You had to have blessed him right’ and like what does he say to that???
And imagine Tony seeing this and being like ‘hey I actually wanted to know who spider-man was too but maybe don’t harass a minor?? Like yeah he’s a god but he’s also a child’ and. Omg I need to ✨stop✨ before I ✨break✨
Ok wait, I got another idea for this au.
I was thinking about where all the gods would live, would they come from different planets(like Thor and Loki)? Would they have their own realm (or a a separate realm for each of them)? Would they live in sacred places like the Greek gods living on Mount Olympus?
And then my mind landed on Stark Tower.
Let me elaborate. The gods don't actually live in the Tower, it's just kind of an access point. Like in Percy Jackson (because I am also a part of the pjo fandom), Olympus is on a level of the Empire State building that doesn't exist. I was thinking the same for Stark Tower. Like the entire Tower is all normal, being used for whatever it's used for in canon, but then there's this extra floor that can only be accessed by people who Tony (and some of the others) invites.
So that's where Tony, Pepper and Rhodey (when he isn't gracing the United States Air forces with his presence as the God of all Aircrafts) live most of the time.
Second of all, not all of the gods live there (Thor, Loki, Clint etc.) but it is a kind of congregation point for them. Like, whenever their's a major problem, the gods (the Avengers) meet up there.
Also, every god has a place where they are at their most powerful, their domain in the physical world I guess. For Tony it's Stark Tower(obvi) and Clint has his farm where his family resides and where you can find any type of bow, arrow and archery range that has ever existed (and some that can't exist anywhere but there). I can't really think any place for the rest of them from the top of my head at so late at night so I need to brainstorm a little more.

I have a question, first, for the other writers that come across this: If there's a small bit of time between writing sessions, do you go back and read everything you've worked on for your story before you start adding on, or go you just start writing and work out kinks and stuff in a later draft?
I do the former. If I don't read what's happened before, especially if it's been longer than a day, then I get way too lost. (That's how I ended up with How To Balance, actually. I didn't read what I already had for Enough Caffeine and ended up with something that didn't fit at all, but I wasn't about to delete the stroke of genius, so I created another story around it)
I do this. I do this frequently. I have a separate folder in my emails so I can look at the comments and kudos I've received when I'm down.
God bless those people honestly, I think there've been times they've actually saved my life.

What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?
An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:
I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.
Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.
A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)
So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.
As someone in an extremely small fandom, it feels so good to have anyone comment. Regulars feel even more incredible, because the insight to what bits they liked for each chapter and the validation of someone caring about your art is extraordinary.
Do regular commenters know just how valued they are? I mean, obviously ALL commenters are valued, but as a fic writer when you’ve got a group of familiar usernames and profile pics who pop up again and again like old friends to share their thoughts and appreciation on one of your fics, that’s so special. I hope my regular commenters know that I remember them, and I recognise them each time they come back, and I am so incredibly grateful for them not only leaving comments, but leaving them time and time again. I hope they know they’re making someone, somewhere, smile.
i love ao3 notes more people need to read ao3 notes, like; hello gojoscumsock69, i will read your erotic, homosexual smut book about two men exploring each other's bodies and boundaries, while learning about the basics and extremes of bdsm. oh? you were in a car accident? how unfortunate, do recover quickly. whats that? your suspescted-autistic uncle was in a fire, and now you have to attend the funeral being held for his collection of vintage HotWheels? what an upsetting loss. i am sending prayers.
