Have you thought about/are you planning on doing other ghoul designs too? I'd love to see Ifrit, Air, Omega, ect. in your style!
I have thought a bit about the other ghouls!!! The version of the Ministry I’m developing for lore is where all of the Papas are alive, the first three just retired, where all the Ghouls still chilling at the Ministry.
Here’s a little doodle of Phil without his helmet I did while working on the others (as he’s also a multighoul like Swiss)!
I know for a fact that I want Omega to be very deep space vibes, maybe eyes of a black hole. I’m also considering Alpha being a blue fire ghoul as to me, Alpha and Omega are like “prime elemental ghouls” like the peak of their elements and abilities. Blue is the hottest fire, and deep space is horrifyingly beautiful!
For Ifrit, I don’t have a specific idea just yet as I want visual input and help from my wife Warden who is Egyptian and has more insight on Ifrit and Islam than me, so Ifrit’s design will most likely be a group effort between me and him!
Onto Air, I mention in my giant yap post in the air ghoul section that Air has feathered wings compared to the usual bat wings! I also imagine him to possibly be on the more yellow side of the air ghoul color palette.
Oh, and then there’s Earth. Earth’s mammal reference is giving bear and moose in my head. Earth also gives me intense like, cryptid Bigfoot vibes, even more so than Mountain.
Hopefully will get to drawing all of them. I want all of the designs to go into my character design portfolio so they are all very important to me.

Water headcanon idea
Water ghouls are like predators yeah? Hear me, water ghoul poison barbs.
Like hear me out for a second! They could so easily use it to grab fish or pierce a bigger predator. Some water ghouls don't have to have poison barbs! It can be a tribal thing!!
Salt water ghouls with poison barbs, fresh water with regular barbs just hear me out for a second. They could also use it for protecting their young!! The poison (from salt water ghouls) if enough is pierced into you it can kill you, but if they give a warning flick then it's usually enough to just knock you out.
Tldr: water ghoul barbs.

Do me a favor and don't think about the ghouls cuddling papa. Don't think about how each ghoul has their way of cuddling him, don't think about how each ghoul has their reason for coming into his room each night.
Don't think about how papa has certain things for each ghoul, a blanket or a pillow or something. Don't think about how the ghouls fight over who gets to cuddle papa just for him to decide on a cuddle pile.
Whatever you do, don't think about it.

Cw/tw: Death, torture, pain, cannibalism, general ickyness so be careful reading this.
Quintessence ghouls were forced to cannibalize the former in order to gain their magic, it was the only way it would work. You'd have to consume the older one whether you liked it or not, the magic turning process hurts and it takes up to hours to complete, but this was the only way.
Water ghouls who were either drowned or water boarded with unholy water, they needed their lungs to be coated in it before they could turn, it was agonizing pain and it wouldn't go away for days.
Earth ghouls who were buried alive in order to connect to their element, they would be tied up so they couldn't claw their way back to the surface. Only after they turned would they be dug back up, shaking and confused with no memory of what happened.
Air ghouls who had their breath ripped away by being smothered or choked, they would thrash and fight but they wouldn't let up until the change was over. Some even have trouble breathing to this day because of it.
Multi ghouls who would go through a mix of every process until the church was satisfied with the results, some even going through multiple rounds of one method in order to have a dominant element.
Fire ghouls who were burned alive in order for their skin to become tough and resistant to the heat, they wouldn't stop until they were charred all over their body but only then would they be forced into an ice bath and scrubbed down to remove the coal and soot off their body.

Okay so, in my version of the ghost universe the ghouls are fucked up experiments. Ghouls cannot be summoned they must be created, I've explained how they must be created in another post that goes alongside this one.
The clergy originally began experimenting on willing followers back in the 40s a little after WW2, they failed horribly each time until sometime in the 50s where they took a small group of followers and managed to turn them into ghouls.
These ghouls were gifted to the original Emeritus, they only managed to survive about four years before they gave into their elements and withered away. Now, seeing that it was in fact possible the clergy began experimenting more and more to get better results.
Soon they had their first successful batch of ghouls, they were given to the first Emeritus and they lived well over 13 years before they decided they needed more for the new cardinal who was going to take the place of the third Emeritus.
The clergy needed to get rid of these ghouls which prompted the experiments I talked about in a previous post, it worked and they had another batch of ghouls who were ready to protect and serve their cardinal at all costs.
How do these ghouls react? They're scared, skittish and wildly unpredictable. Dewdrop will overheat and sometimes catch things on fire, Aether makes things float or makes people pass out if they're near him for too long, Cirrus and Cumulus make people short in the breath, Rain can't be near water for too long or else it starts to gravitate near him, Mountain always grows random plants on spores on his body that need to be removed, Swiss can make you feel weak and fatigued if he touches you.
The Cardinal realizes all of these ghouls need help and he's made it his mission to protect them and get them comfortable in the body they're in, after years of rehabilitation it works and they're now mostly functional.
What the Cardinal, now Papa emeritus the fourth, didn't know is that they needed two more new ghouls and in the middle of the night the clergy stole two selected ghouls and began the process all over again.
The fifth Emeritus blames himself all of the time for not being able to protect his ghouls, it set so much progress back for all of them and now he needs to repeat all of the rehabilitation again with every single one of them.
Do you guys ever think about Air and Zephyr's relationship, do you think Air called Zephyr "his little birdie" as he taught him everything he needed to know. Do you think Air would braid Zephyr's hair and preen his wings after a long day, do you think Air is so soft to him all of the time. Do you think Zephyr is heartbroken and crushed whenever Air is sent back, do you think he curls up in Air's bed and sobs as he rubs his face cause he misses him. Do you ever just, think.
