This original post was tagged "dark academia."

It's funny to me common takes like these are amongst the "academia aesthetic" crowd. Like the people who scream to the rooftops about how much they LOVE English and how ACADEMIC they are are the same people who act shocked that English is a living, changing language. I don't mean to gatekeep - if you enjoy the aesthetic just for it's looks, that's great. Good for you. But let's all try to keep in mind that it takes more than liking pretty pictures of books to make someone academic.

Idk mate, maybe a year of sociology made me pretentious or whatever, but I really don't like how quick this community is to brush off anything new and/or different. That seems very antithetical to "academia" but that's just my opinion, and what do I know?

what the fuck is “rizz”??? what about words like charm, words like allure? where the fuck are they in your vocabulary??

academia aesthetic dark academia light academia I just think that maybe as a community we need to stop looking down on everyone else for a community that is supposedly united by a love of learning there sure is a close minded culture I'm not qualified to talk about “rizz” being AAVE but I hear the people saying it and it seems worth mentioning but either way we need to stop fighting mainstream culture. we have our subculture and if it's not everyone's cup of tea that's FINE this post probably seems excessive. it's not about OP specifically it's about a sentiment that I have seen in this community for years

Whoever invented microwaveable stuffed animals is going directly to heaven.

I have a huge audition on Thursday and my voice is fucked from having a cold last week. I fucked up a muscle in my back and it hurts to cough. So I'm sitting here, doing my planning for the day, with a warm penguin on my back and a clothes steamer on my desk to clear my sinuses and it feels really good.

His name is Cal Naughton Junior, by the way. The zoo I used to work at had a penguin named Ricky Bobby, so I figured it was only appropriate to name this guy Cal.
