Kenma always volunteered to take the night shift with your little one.

You really didn’t mind, it was good to know that when your newborn baby would stir and cry in the middle of the night, that he was more than willing to tend to her littlest needs and biggest cries.

You had teased him, once or thrice, about this just being a cover so he could play his game all hours of the night without any scolding from you or his best friend, hiding it under a fatherly deed. Which he’d roll his eyes with a small blush and shake his head at “‘s not true, babe.”

Really, it was so he could be here like this.

Tiny hands reached up to grab at his blue-light glasses in intrigued, causing Kenma’s face to scrunch up dramatically, “yeah, I know, they were the last ones on the shelf, I already hear it from Uncle K, I don’t need to hear it from you.”

The infant merely blinks up at him. Kenma knows, deep down, that she can’t hear him, she won’t even remember the glasses that sit on the bridge of his nose come the age of two. But there’s a small part of his exhausted, imaginative brain that does convince him that she hears her dad’s gentle teasing; finds it amusing, even.

His thoughts are cut off by the sounds of her little mouth letting out strangely aggressive grunts, and Kenma can only innocently snicker at the sounds. Then, he remembers what they mean, and his face drops back down.

“Are you really popping on me?” He asks, a hand rubbing her belly. “Seriously? You couldn’t have saved that for your other parent? No no, they give you your bottle, so I get the aftermath.”

With that, he rises to his feet to bring her to the changing table, changing her diaper with only a few comments here and there- “no, seriously, how does something so small-?” and “you know, I’m doing this for you, so you better do it for me when I’m old and in diapers.”- but there’s nothing more Kenma would rather be doing. It’s his baby, his little miracle, and for all the months he feared his paternal instinct wouldn’t kick in, they were worth it when his little girl looks up at him and lets out a single, breathy laugh, and he stiffens up.

It was her first giggle.

Tears heat up the corner of his eyes and he picks his now clean baby off of the table, “y-you just laughed- oh my god, you just- you just laughed for me!”

And this is why, he thinks to himself. This is why he spends all night watching and tending to her; he doesn’t want to miss a thing when he’s at work. These are moments he’ll never get back, these small, little things that she’ll never knew even happened, but he’ll remember until the day he dies.

FEELING A SET OF eyes on you, you glance up from your Nintendo. Connecting your eyes with cat like golden eyes, blinking at the sudden unexpected action. You just stare back, what feels like hours, but couldn’t have been more then a couple seconds, he glances away as soon as he realises you’re looking back at him.

Shifting his glaze back to his game council, a Nintendo just like the one in your hands. Taking one more glance, you turn back to your own game. Choosing Amy as your character for the new triathlon your setting up.

Taking the same seat the next day, you see the boy sitting across from you again, taking a moment to debate you sigh. Going to your messages, you open it up for connection, just waiting, and waiting, to see if he had the same idea.

K3NMA: Hi

Smiling at the messages, you glance up, having your eyes connect, you look down and twiddle your thumbs to think of a good reply. Finally ending with the most obvious reply;

[Y/U/N]: Hi.

[Y/U/N]: You go to Nekoma, right?

K3NMA: Yes.

K3NMA: You too right?

Nodding to your self, you don’t notice a set of eyes on you. It’s hard to think of anything to say that won’t sound stupid or boring.

[Y/U/N]: Did the uniform tip you off?

K3NMA: And that you always walk infront of me.

[Y/U/N]: Stalker.

K3NMA: Says you

Chuckling softly at his sudden witty reply, you see the notification of your game asking if you’re still playing.

[Y/U/N]: Want to play a game together?

Not waiting for his reply, you invite him to play a triathlon against you. Seeing that he accepted, a small smile tug up your lips. Ending the game, before you have to stand up.

Having the train stop infront of you just like every day before that, you step in. Almost instantly spotting the boy, taking a deep breath you take the next bold step. Taking a seat next to the boy, “Hi.” you say softly, zipping your bag open.

Having the boy look up, a surprised look on his face, “Hi.” he replies. Holding my Nintendo up, I send him a small smile turning to the game. Having him glance back at his game as well, not being able to hold the smile back.

Making the boy with the big black hair, look between the two in confusion, “Wait, what’s happening here?”

general dating kenma kozume headcanons

kenma is someone that falls in love very gradually over time.

you became friends bc you were introduced to kenma by either kuroo or hinata.

he’ll probably know about his feelings when he catches them, but is super denial about it to others, like kuroo.

kuroo obviously thinks that’s bs and tries to be the best wingman even tho you guys got together without his help 💀

ENOUGH BACKSTORY ON TO RELATIONSHIPS

you have to make sure he’s taking care of himself. staying hydrated, taking breaks, eating meals, etc.

he likes when you sit in his lap while he plays games.

perceptive towards your actions and feelings and gives HELLA GOOD advice.

doesn’t show pda. HE DOES LOVE YOU but he gets uncomfortable about it and is awkward. he’ll hold your hand once in a while tho.

he was also very awkward at first when it comes to affection and expressing his feelings to you.

in private you can be as clingy as you want LMAOOO he likes cuddling/touching you.

while cuddling he likes laying his head on your chest (vice versa) or putting his head in your lap. he’s still playing games tho.

on the occasion he isn’t playing games when cuddling, he’ll wrap his arms around your waist.

he also likes putting his head on your shoulder.

you guys don’t go out much for dates. they’re mostly stay at homes, and you guys will just play video games.

ie: the date being an animal crossing island date or playing minecraft in your shared world. (that’s such a common hc but pls i see it)

BUT if you also like to play video games, you guys will play competitive games like smash and trolling people on COD.

he loves when you wear his hoodies and shirts but won’t openly say it. he just blushes.
