I saw a post on tumblr earlier that said how Heisuke can never keep his cool with Chizuru. I feel like that's especially true in Yuugiroku.

Drew something quick based on an idea that came to me earlier this week.
I have been working on bigger things, but for some reason I want to keep them for next month when the Hakuouki Anniversary marathon passes by (Series' Anniversary on the 18th, Shinkai's anniversary and Shinkai Hijikata hen on the 25th), in case I don't manage to finish anything more "anniversary"-ish.

The original thought behind his picture: does Hijikata's snack set from Otomate Garden have watermelon because it's triangular like onigiri?
Would Chizuru make that joke? I'd like to believe she would. Kind of wanted to create a picture similar to the fullbody yukata images Okita and Saitou got for Tsukikage and Ginsei, but didn't quite make it there.
Also inspired by Yuugiroku 2 (which you should definitely play if you understand some Japanese because it's amazing).

It’s been more than three years since I’ve known Hakuouki. Time flies.
This is one of my favorite Chizuru I’ve drawn so far!
This version is more accurate to the draft. I love how simple it looks but with the need of an outstanding congratulating text plus how unsaturated it is(my personal fav sry not sry), adding frame just feel slightly more right.
Which one do you prefer more?

It's meant as a little mirror piece to the other drawing I did. Chizuru's not the only one who cries, but they're not alone.
No matter how often I re-watch this scene, it tears me apart. The way Chizuru immediately turns to seek out Hijikata, the way Chikage is so desperate to keep her safe but loves her enough to let her go... 💔
