You know what I like about this scene in CC is how Genesis destroys the fusion pod.
The one Hojo used to strengthen specimens but also breed stuff. The one he put Aerith and Red in. Genesis really just waltzes in, somehow exercises enough self-control to not kill Hojo, but then just destroys his stupid ass pod out of sheer petty spite and justice. Good for him.
Thanks @silvergreenseraphim for this screenshot btw.
And then Gen does the classic Sephiroth-in-front-of-the-fire pose and struts off.
He gets all the satisfying revenge moments that we all want for Hojo or Hollander that Angeal holds back on because of his honor code and that Sephiroth seems too conditioned until around Nibelheim to do. It’s so fun to watch Genesis go apeshit against Shinra. GO RED GO!
Of all the character interactions I didn't expect it would be Zack and Elmyra who would wreck me emotionally. Square-Enix waited 27 years to show what would have happened if Zack went to live with Aerith.
OG Final Fantasy VII:
Zack Fair (to Cloud Strife): What're you gonna do once we get to Midgar?
Zack: I got a place I can crash for a while...
Zack: No wait, the mother lives there, too...
Zack: Guess that's out...
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth:
Elmyra Gainsborough (to Zack Fair): Welcome home.
Elmyra: Without you, I'd be a wreck.
he is trying his best :(
My main job is making sure schools in my region are providing resources for students who require accommodations for learning. Like assistive technology, therapies, etc.
Not a single one of these students uses AI. We have a high school student that uses tobii dynavox to speak and write words with eye gaze and they help run the fucking school paper! The idea that AI is being pushed as assistive technology, and that it's somehow ableist to not provide it is absolutely ableist in and of itself. It assumes that people with disabilities, physical or developmental, haven't the mental capacity for independent thought, and thus need a fucking computer to think for them (or put their thoughts in order, which, again, there are already hundreds of tools out there for this that don't include AI)
I have students who are developmentally delayed to an extent that language of any capacity is not currently within reach for them, but guess what? Their worth is not measured by whether they can compete in a writing competition. Honestly. There is a difference in providing equity for people with disabilities, and using disabled people's plight as a an excuse to push AI agenda.
With the paraolympics right now, we see accessibility equity at it's finest! You don't see robots (or people, for that matter) going out there and doing the events for them and calling it equality. I have a blind and deaf student who does wrestling. A student with a prosthetic leg that runs track AND does poll vault. A student with down syndrome in the top 10 who recently received a scholarship for a docuseries they made with their iPhone. One of my former students is in college who also uses an eye gaze device is working on developing software to optimize eye gaze for electronic drawing.
The general consensus with all of these students who receive accommodations is that AI is a cop-out. It's cheating. Wanting to do something, and not being able to, is not a good enough reason to cheat. Just like wanting to win a race, but not being the fastest, isn't a good enough reason to take a shortcut.
I'm a disabled and chronically ill writer. I can't write every time i want to. I can't use a keyboard or handwrite for disability reasons. The only way i can write is by typing in the notes app on my phone. This is also painful and i can write a few hundred words at most.
Isn't it interesting how i still wouldn't consider using AI to write my stories instead? If the only way for me to write my stories is by using voice to text and i can write only a single word everyday i still wouldn't choose AI
Fuck AI and fuck you for pretending to care about disability people just so you can steal art made by disabled people
