Inspired by @sm-baby’s post, for any of my “Caine is now human. Don’t question it.” Concepts: Caine can understand the concept of desire but can’t experience it (🖤🩶🤍💜) as an AI.
Vaguely suggestive under the cut? (but I’m still talking very objectively/having a meta-discussion about it, this ain’t a smut fic)
I feel like he’d experience some degree of romantic attraction as an AI? But probably not entirely? Think Wall-E. A being that isn’t meant to love but it tries anyway.
He can extrapolate what he feels for Pomni is romance based on information he already has programmed into him, but there’s absolutely nothing in there for something further. He inherently cannot experience carnal desire because the only things that experience it are living, breathing animals.
He wants to experience everything like humans but he can’t. Even when he gets close to what he’s aiming for, his code basically shock-collars him with error messages instead of saying or doing anything he wants to.
So the universe throws him through the plot-device portal to human world. He’s a bonafide flesh-and-bone human now.
He sees human Pomni for the first time and immediately goes:

You are exactly correct. Wilson recognizes that this love he has for House is something he can't properly compare to anything else he's ever experienced. THEREFORE it cannot be attraction or romantic love bc he totally knows what that's supposed to be like and it's with Women. This is just. Something different. It is deep and unfathomable and unconditional. But different.
Meanwhile the worst thing House can imagine is being rejected by Wilson. And he doesn't think Wilson could like him romantically. Therefore he doesn't like Wilson. It's an 'appeal to consequences' fallacy. I don't like the outcome which I think most probable, therefore this cannot be true. He knows that he is capable of liking Wilson romantically, but he can't for other reasons. So what he feels is also just. Something different.
And Thirteen is so tired and finds both of their denials to be EXTREMELY hypocritical. Wilson considers himself as emotionally intelligent, which he obviously isn't. And House claims to value truth above all, but avoids self-reflection and awareness at all costs lol.
Writing is not about 'telling an epic story' or 'making something that will outlive you'. Writing is about going "You know what would be fucking awesome?" and then committing word crimes
