I am in love with your au!!! Aaaaah!!!! I love this idea and I love the idea of characters being part almost anything, and wings are like, my favorite au ever.

Okay remember my Outsiders winged AU? Here’s what I’m thinking

Ponyboy

Pony has Magpie wings. Specifically Azure winged Magpie. The magpie symbolizes curiosity and determination which I think fits Pony. His wings are kinda smaller, but he’s able to envelope himself in them. He prefers to fly kinda slow and usually perches on top of street lamps and such.

Sodapop

Soda has Dove wings. Doves symbolize peace , beauty and comfort-I believe this bird fits Soda because he’s the glue that holds the Curtis brothers together. He enjoys flying at fast speeds though, unfortunately it can be hard for his wings to let him go fast sometimes

Darry

Darry has eagle wings. Eagles symbolize leadership, strength and courage. Darry kinda fits that criteria-His wings are huge and constantly bump things when he tries to spread them. Sometimes he’ll go on nightly flights to clear his mind. He goes really fast oftentimes.

Johnny

Johnny has crow wings. Crows symbolize tragedy and death, but they also symbolize strength. Johnny had wings that are way too big for him-his parents maybe clipped his wings (or attempted to) but regardless he either cannot fly or it’s very difficult for him to. Maybe they get healed-but then he’d probably just perch on roofs and such.

Dallas

Dally has falcon wings. Falcons symbolize focus, freedom and victory. They’re also one of the big predatory birds, and he tends to combat Darry sometimes (I headcanon this at least)-plus it also kinda just shows his big brother attitude towards Pong and Johnny. He flies at the speed of light istg-the police cannot catch up to him. It’s impossible.

Two Bit

Two Bit has kookaburra wings. Kookaburras symbolize goofiness and silliness and they’re also famous for their laughter. Just like Two Bit. Two Bit uses his wings to cuddle his sister (who has yet to “molt” into her own wings) but he likes to fly around at night and freak people out by perching in trees and doing that freaky laugh of his.

Steve

Steve has raven wings. Ravens symbolize intelligence and coolness-plus they oppose doves, which kinda goes along with my “opposites attract” headcanons for Soda and Steve-Steve likes to preen his wings a lot. He takes a lot of pride in his wings and shows them off a lot honestly. He likes flexing his wings because they’re beautiful and he knows it. Pony is only a little bit jealous and salty.

Wing AU. Wouldn’t it be fucked up if Belos took feather’s from each of the previous golden guards and put them as ornaments above his thrown in, what he calls a memorial, but whenever Hunter doesn’t do what Belos likes he not so subtly gestures makes comments about how good itd look with a new feather added. Darius ends up stealing the one that belonged to the previous golden guard and burning it on top of the knee as a sort of memorial to his mentor and what he sees as setting his soul rest. PA

and goddd. it would be So fucked up. He takes the biggest primary feather he has (the most important And the prettiest. two in one) and adds them to his throne as intimidation tactics. Hunter always thought they were from people who stepped out of line/disappointed Belos, and he was Kind Of right, but good lord was he not expecting it to be That.

I think they'd take all the feathers and burn them at some point, to remember the fallen and all that. Darius definitely took the liberty of burning his mentors himself, though. I wonder if they'd set fire to the feathers and then, like, toss them into the air to blow away as they burn to ash. a sort of last-token act of freedom that they never got

never be sorry to ask!! I'm always happy to talk about stuff - it's never a bother (it's also not my au though lmao so if you've got any other questions I would suggest asking @lost4pandora seeing as it is their au, I'm happy to answer but they do know more than I do)

but wild lost his wings when he died during the calamity, they couldn't be regenerated in the shrine of ressurection as for the other question!

I don't have Much Info about it for Now, but I've already given Everyone their own Wing Style! Wally, Poppy, and Julie have elliptical wings. Frank and Sally have high-speed wings. Howdy has Active soaring wings, and Eddie and Barnaby have Passive soaring wings :):)

I figured I Shouldn't give him two sets of Wings, even though it would match with the Arms. Including the wings, it would Add up to Six legs and plus the extra wings would just be, well, Extra! He could soar across the Whole Town on these Puppies, and Then Some!

Part Five with dear Poppy! She has Separate wings, since she Needs her First pair when she wants to Knit or Bake. Her flight would probably be the briefest, and with likely Less Control given the Unique style of her tail plumage, but she Can fly if she Wants to!

Part six with Julie! I really Liked how her Wings turned out- I think she'd be one of the ones who Flies the Most, alongside Sally and Howdy

And last but never the least- Sally! She would absolutely be a show-off in flight, swooping and diving and making it look effortless. Being a star, she's had practice being up in the air, so she's the most confident flier of them all

Territory maps for the Wing Au! The way the territories blend is, admittedly, a bit jarring (like minecraft-), but that's a part of the plot~

The tiny square in the middle of each territory is the neighbor's house/establishment, to scale. Each territory is specifically catered to each neighbor, just as their wings are, as well. Questions are heavily encouraged! I would love to info-dump or answer anything you'd ask :]

Wing Au lore:

They were puppets, but they broke free from their strings in an act of defiance. Home saved them, gave them freedom. But in turn, it sacrificed themselves for their friends. Traces of him still remain, hovering in the minds of the neighbors and sometimes speaking to them in their dreams, but things will never be the same. With Home's sacrifice, the neighbors broke free from their strings, gaining life outside of their own puppeteers as they were changed. The neighborhood morphed. It changed into a genuine, real world. Welcome Home, as a show, was canceled, and they are now in control of their own lives in turn... mostly. The show set was basically their own 'real world' prior but there was nothing outside of the neighborhood. They were controlled by a script rather than actual handlers. Everyone followed their script, whether or not they wanted to, and over time each became more and more aware of it. That's what they broke from. Their souls broke away from their puppet bodies. As for the wings?Home had always been fascinated by birds. They were small, colorful, and soared through the sky with a sense of absolute freedom. It envied them. It admired them. He wanted the neighbors, his friends, to be free like them. They were the one most powerful of the group, Home being the bridge between Welcome Home and the show Directors. Home felt like their guardians, in a sense. In severing that tie, they severed the connection between those worlds as he gave his friends their freeom. There is still trouble, of course. Traces of those strings still linger, and patched wounds will never fully dissappear. But Wally's doing the best he can for the others, now. They're all doing their best. The neighbor's soul is in their wings, and eyes, like the *essence* of them. The wings themselves represent freedon, the ability to choose, and the ability to escape peril or burden, the very essence of the owner as well as the gift from Home. Even with wings, there are still thread-like strings attatched. Can be felt in vague tugs, like something's attempting to guide them. If someone's mental state deteriorates, so do their wings. Feathers will fall out or become misshapen and messy the worse it gets. At absolute worst, absolute rock-bottom, the wings will be a mess of mangled, tattered feathers and all but inner coverts will be missing. If wings or even feathers are cut, pulled, or damaged, the wing owner will feel physical *and* mental pain, given how important they are. Their body can be healed easily, much faster than a human's speed (their blood is black because why not. No organs or stuff, just all black stuff on the inside). A deep lacerarion can be fine within the hour, and natural death isn't a thing for them. However, if their wings are damaged enough, or removed, they will die. This can also happen with mental deterioration

... if they ever die, they join Home

The murder/flock line was supposed to be a reference to my version of Jonathan having the Scarebeast who's more avian (corvid-) like in nature (Been wanting to draw em but so far, designs are still in the wip stage) XD

Besides the fact that I initially have Jonathan be related to Danny here by being Maddie's cousin in Uncle Scarecrow AU, I honestly love this interpretation/idea! I would very much read this if this turn into a fic! (And draw cause I haven't drawn wings in months and I've been wanting to draw wings lately-)

WHO WANTS SOME MORE WINGED SIDES??

(This is kind of a continuation/same universe as this pic!)

-First: More white winged Virgil

-Virgil hates his wings

-they’re too bright and it makes it super hard to blend in and go unnoticed

-plus, it’s impossible to hide when the dark sides have been messing with him- they’ll usually get stuff like ink and mud on his wings that he then has to struggle to clean before one of the others sees (blood takes forever to wash out)

-sometimes Virgil will act like he’s mad, but his wings will unconsciously curl around him like a shield and that’s how the others can tell that he’s not actually mad, he’s just scared

-Virgil is the only one who doesn’t wear a halter top because bare arms/shoulders?? HELL NO

-Then there’s Patton!!

-Patton LOVES his wings

-they are soft and warm and he loves to wrap himself and the others into the coziest bat hugs <3

-he likes to hang upside down on banisters but he tries to only do it when Virgil’s not around cause it always gives the poor kid a heart attack

-Logan has hummingbird wings!

-no it’s not blatant favoritism shut up

-he’s always eating jars of crofter’s cause his wings use so much energy he just really needs the sugar

-he will hover around anyone/thing that catches his interest and just kind of flit around while he thinks

-Roman and Virgil complain about him being a literal helicopter parent, constantly fluttering over their shoulders and hassling them about their self care

-last but certainly not least, is our boi Roman

-Roman has a love/hate relationship with his dragonfly wings

-on the one hand, he 100% believes and will tell anyone that will listen (and anyone who wont) that he has the most beautiful wings of the sides- they are iridescent and he is full rainbow ALL the time

-but

-his wings are fragile

-as sides, they all heal way faster than humans, but none of them are sure what would happen if one of them lost a wing- would it grow back or just heal over? Roman is terrified of finding out

-whenever he goes adventuring he keeps his wings carefully wrapped up beneath his armor

-no one, not even the other sides, absolutely no one, is allowed to touch Roman’s wings

(I actually really like Roman and Logan’s designs, so I probably will go back and finish their drawings later. Also, I have a design for Deceit, but I’m not finished yet so I’ll post it separately later)
