About a year ago, I had an idea for some Welcome Home ocs. They started as a doodle in my math book, and now they have a fully fledged ref!
Say hello to the conductors of The Train of Thought, Martie and Artie Mind!
Artie was the first one I drew, but I drew his brother soon after realizing that Artie wasn’t really a conductor. They are based off the left and right side of the brain while their train is obviously based off thought.
Their first digital drawing is below. I had to change some stuff because it didn’t scream “welcome home” to me, especially their colors.
Below are some doodles I made before their ref (which is why Artie doesn’t have his bandana)
I wouldn’t expect much of them on this page, I have ideas for certain drawings but there’s so much I have to do that I probably won’t have time :/
LATE WELCOME HOME UPDATE RANT POST !
(⚠️ spoilers for the newest welcome home update that came out march 9th ⚠️)
OKAY SO I ACTUALLY HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS UPDATE, IT WAS BY FAR MY FAVOURITE UPDATE SO FAR THAT WE HAVE GOTTEN. before I start however if you guys don’t know how to Access the secret website here is the link if you need it!
FIRST OFF, THESE IMAGESSSSS, THEY’RE ACTUALLY SO CUTE I LOVE JULIE’S CHRISTMAS TREE HAIR SO MUCH 😭 AND THE THIRD PHOTO IS SO CUTE?? LOOK AT THEM ALL TOGETHER, THEY’RE ALL LIKE A LITTLE FAMILY IT’S ADORABLE ☹️
AND THE ARTSTYLE IS SO PRETTY, LITERALLY I LOVE CLOWNS STYLE SO MUCH.
I CAN ONLY SHARE ONE CLIP BC TUMBLR WONT LET ME ADD MORE 😢 BUT OUT OF ALL THE CLIPS WE GOT THIS WAS BY FAR MY FAVOURITE, I WAS HONESTLY SO SHOCKED TO SEE THAT WE GOT FULLY ANIMATED SCENES OF THE CHARACTERS, AND THIS ONE WAS MY FAVOURITE OUT OF ALL OF THEM.
BARNABY AND HOWDY BOTH LOOK SO CUTE IN THS STYLE AND I LOVED BARNABYS EXPRESSIONS, I LITERALLY LOVED BARNABY IN THIS ENTIRE UPDATE TBH, HE LITERALLY CARRIED THE WHOLE UPDATE ONCE AGAIN, HE WAS GREAT AND I LOVE HIS VOICE SO MUCH.
I’M GENUINELY SO HAPPY THAT WE GOT TO SEE MORE OF HIM THIS UPDATE.
AND THIS ANIMATION, THIS ONE WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES TOO, THE SCENERY WAS SO PRETTY AND IT REALLY MATCHED THE ADVERT AS IT HAD A VERY COSY FEEL TO IT, I LOVED IT SO MUCH.
WALLY LOOKS SO CUTE IN THIS STYLE, I LOVED THE WAY HE SMILED IN THIS ANIMATION TOO, HE LOOKED SO SILLY, I DIDNT ACTUALLY LIKE WALLY BEFORE BUT NOW HE IS STARTING TO GROW ON ME A LITTLE AFTER THIS, I DIDNT TRUST HIM IN THE FIRST FEW UPDATES AS I THOUGHT IT WAS IMPLIED THAT HE WAS GONNA BE THE BAD CHARACTER BUT AS OF NOW HE SEEMS PRETTY SILLY TOO 😭
but anyways, literally loved this animation too, it was so smooth and pretty, whoever animated these scenes did an amazing job because I loved each one so much
OKAY, I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS PART TOO.
MY JAW LITERALLY DROPPED WHEN I SAW MS. BEAGLE TOO, I REALLY WAS NOT EXPECTING TO SEE HER ANYTIME SOON SO I WAS VERY SURPRISED WHEN I SAW HER APPEAR, I WAS LITERALLY SAYING A BIT BEFORE THIS UPDATE THAT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE BARNABY AND MS. BEAGLE TOGETHER, AND IN THIS UPDATE I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE I ACTUALLY GOT WHAT I WANTED.
they’re my favourite mother and son guys. ☹️
THEY WERE LITERALLY SO CUTE, WHEN MS. BEAGLE GAVE BARNABY A PECK ON THE CHEEK AND YOU CAN ALSO TELL HOW MUCH BARNABY CARES FOR HER, IT’S SO SWEET AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH 😭 I also really loved the fact we got to see more artwork of ms. beagle, she is literally so pretty and her voice is so pretty too, I LOVE HERRR
AND 11 NEW CHARACTERS?? I WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED BY THIS TOO, I DIDNT EXPECT TO SEE SO MANY NEW FACES IN THIS UPDATE ALSO.
it was really nice to hear more about howdy’s family, AND THERE IS SO MANY OF THEM, HIS FAMILY IS ACTUALLY MASSIVE, I loved all their voices and character designs so much, they were all great, I WAS SURPRISED WE GOT TO HEAR ALL THEIR VOICES TOO, I was completely blown away from this update
THE LORE WE GOT ON EDDIE TOO WAS ACTUALLY CRAZY.
I felt so bad for the guy he was so stressed and exhausted from everything, it was also really sad to see how he was getting frustrated / upset when nobody was coming to visit him 😕 FRANK KEEP YOUR BOYFRIEND COMPANY PLEASE…
It was also really nice to see how worried Frank was for Eddie when Eddie was zoning out, THEY WERE SO WORRIED FOR HIM, I ACTUALLY STARTED CRYING NEAR THE END OF THE 22 MINUTE VIDEO, THE ANGST FOR EDDIE WAS SO SAD, ESPECIALLY THE PART WHERE FRANK STARTED TO WORRY.
anyways, that’s all I have to say for this update, I literally loved it so much and this is definitely my favourite update so far, the voice actors, animators and clown did such a good job with this update and it was definitely worth the extra wait 🩷

So, I had an idea.
With Welcome Home becoming extremely popular and tons of aus being made like the opposite au, greyscale, etc. I just wanna pitch an idea I had because i can’t. I can’t really draw. Not good anyways,,
There’s the rainbow factory au, right? Well what if there was a Cupcakes au as well? But instead of our darling Wally, it’s Julie !! I think she’d fit more in pinkies role tbh. They’re both such silly little things. Like, imagine if Julie became self-aware instead of Wally, and the shock of her world being fake and her and their friends being puppets drove her mad. I haven’t thought out all the details for this idea but imagine Julie wearing a dress made of all the felt and stuffing of the cast-
I just thought it’d be interesting considering there’s not many aus featuring the rest of the cast in the spotlight other than Wally. If I get better at drawing maybe I’ll actually draw something for this !! Idk, just a thought 💭

yeah... i caved and gave her a tail... I'm Not Sorry! it's cute! i wanted to stick with her sorta flower motif - it's stronger in her princess look, since I imagine that when she was part of the royals she was very blatantly flower power based. it was her Thing!
but a Julie free of her noble shackles... she deserves her big sword. like yeah, she has flower magic, but who needs it when she has a Giant Blade??? on the royalty vein, and if we're classifying "rainbow monster" as a species, i feel like horn size/curve would be a status symbol of some kind. maybe Julie would have kept her horns filed short. but if she ran away from that life... longer horns! i like to imagine that they'll keep growing until she has a pair of Extra Weapons attached to her head! curved forward like mammoth tusks maybe!
i imagine that like Frank, she goes with minimal armor - range of movement over protection, yk? some scale mail over her front, a thick leather flower over her chest w/ scalloped leather pauldrons, wrist armor and metal knuckles! i'd think that the faux-suspenders include a back sheath for her sword... i wish i'd thought of that Before i finished the little ref! i don't feel like going back and editing!
i imagine that she was forced to cut her hair when it got caught in something (a gelatinous cube, mayhaps). it didn't look good! don't let anime and Mulan fool you! cutting your own hair with a blade will not look nice! but someone - Eddie, probably, he's good with scissors i'd assume - cleaned it up for her. and hey, it didn't look bad! plus, Julie probably liked being able to just tuck up her long strands into her hat when she's feeling a bit more like a Julius than a Julie!
it's been a fun challenge transforming their canon outfits into a similar variation with fantasy flavoring and twists! i want them to suit the setting but still maintain Themselves! Julie's was tough i gotta admit. i was messing around with the princess look and the fighter look side-by-side. it worked better when i sat back and thought "fighter Julie is Julie unrestrained. that version would be more aligned with her canon look"
i wanted her princess form to look Restrained! she has to be a ~delicate flower~, a noble woman, pristine and poised and very much a princess. soft colors, poofy clothing, bright white gloves that are not to be sullied. carefully bundled up hair! jewelry! that dress must be Heavy and hard to move in! her tail must be so cramped under there!
but Julie Unleashed? violent pinks! rose gold accents! short skirt so that she can sprint and Kick! fun boots that she can be active in and delight in watching them get dirty! her hair is free to whip in the wind and get caught in things! fun straps and Deadly Accessories! a sword that she stole from the royal armory on her way out the window! she has forearm wraps both to match Frank and to support her wrists!
Yes!!! I’m done!!! God dam that was an Effort but I am done! Said I might not color it but then I added color and couldn’t help myself. I’ll have to do smaller scribble comics next time, without so much detail. Work on simplicity.
Anyway! Don’t worry! Julie’s a tough cookie and Eddies pretty strong, and it takes them a sec to remember this. I made this comic with the idea of these two getting carried away and it ending in a dramatic fashion over something stupid. It’s an endlessly amusing trope to me (I laugh every time)

Seeing my old Welcome Home AU stuff inspired me to come back and draw Julie! Out of all the backstories my AU gives the cast, I always liked Julie's the most. :}
As ya'll can see I experimented with her design a bit more and made her look more monstrous. A tail here, some spots over there.. Some animal-like feet and pointy ears.. nothing that would make her look too crazy though. Its the first pass but I think it looks nice! I might just keep her this way :}}
