You have been assigned a four issue mini comic [<100 pages]. It can be about whatever you want. The only restriction is that it has to be about a minor support character [IE character friends, character parents, reoccuring minor villains, reoccuring civilians]. Which character do you choose, and what story would you want to tell in a four issue mini?

For transparency, I'm asking this question to a bunch of people because I want to see all the ideas everyone has. See what everyone would do.

oh my god this is such a fun question. i thought on it most of the day and i think it would be really fun to do a story focused on a goon in gotham.

i'd want to really dig into the "crime is necessary economy" narrative, get dark and gritty with the corruption within the city, etc etc. i think it'd be fun to have batman and the rogue gallery as these characters who loom over the narrative of these random people in gotham trying to survive.

i don't know, i think a gotham story focused on and form the point of view of normal people in gotham who are heavily affected by everything going on would be such a fun contrast to the stories we get focused on the batfamily.

give me a goon who can't get a job that pays enough money to support her and her kids so gets a job in red hood's gang. give me a goon who can't really do anything else with his bad leg and disability isn't enough so he does inventory for the penguin. give me a couple of kids who are stealing food and jumping from shelter to shelter that all these goons are trying to make sure get out of gotham and become something better than this.

Honestly, the fact that what the main universe decided to add from this elseworld's story was the Cass working with Slade. Everyone talks about how stupid her villian arc was, but it's understandable that a writer who didn't know Cass would write her like that if all they knew was Assassin's kid and Slade tried to mentor her. That's the real disservice this series did for Cass's character in the mainline world. It becomes a game of wanting ideas from this elseworld being brought mainline, and it being all the wrong ideas.

Rose could have been interesting, but I feel that adding her into a story where Cass and Jason already represent the opposing ideological viewpoints on Justice would cram the story in a series that was already pretty crammed for the issues that they got.

The arc was good for Roy but did irreversible damage to Cass as a character in the mainline.

hot take rose should’ve been in jason and cass’ teen titans!!!! esp with roy there as the mentor figure!!!! are you kidding me!!!!
