I understand why people are scared about ryan reynolds joining tumblr but for christs sake it’s ryan reynolds i cannot think of a single celebrity who could possibly be less damaging to the ecosystem

Oh yes also! Twitter refugees ! Don't use carrds; nobody here uses them, especially don't list your triggers or history or personal info! Tumblr is meant to be anonymous. Pick a username and put your pronouns and maybe your age in your blog description or pinned (you dont even have to do that, a lot of people just say "minor"). "And what else?" And nothing else! That's it! You owe Tumblr 0 information and in fact it is a bad idea and against the culture here!
And remember no call-out posts! That's not how anything works here if you don't like a blog, you BLOCK IT AND MOVE ON.
Figure out how to disable and enable asks and replies, reblog content you like, don't get too political in fandom and LURK FIRST.

me seeing twitter is back on my notifications while mine isn't working
Ditto. P-bots are an instant smack down, but the best I can do in good conscience for these blank pages is a couple days grace period. Once you have had a little time to settle in, please pick some bare minimum sign that there is a human touch of customization. Literally any icon or background that’s not a generic photo of a woman (the calling card of obvious pornbots) or the default will make a huge difference. An actual blog name. Etc.
Funky account names alone just aren’t enough anymore with some of the cheeky random-generated bs the p-bots have started using. Some of us get follow notifications from these spam bots more often than real people. You can’t even apply hyperbole to how awful the problem is right now, so expect a very justifiable amount of cynicism and wariness from site veterans around here.
100% though the most foolproof way of identifying yourself as an actual user is to post something. Anything, like the above said. It’s the one thing these puppet drones can’t do because it’s their main mechanism for not following each other.
If you want to help out with the effort to clean this place up, please flag them for “spam” under the report options!
Bot accounts and Real people with accounts.
I’m pretty sure the tumblr community is well aware of this problem and probably loads of other people have already made posts about this, so I’ll keep it brief.
So recently blogs like this keep appearing in my followers list (these are recent ones)
Now when you get a spam blogs or p*rn bots you’re supposed to blog them. But some these blogs are actual people who are new on tumblr and have the default icon, so you’re supposed to check before who block them. But here’s the problem…
some of these blogs don’t have anything. No posts, No description, No title. So you’re gonna automatically assume that these are spam and block them.
Now I hate fact that some of these blogs belong to actual people and I’ve been blocking and reporting on blogs like these for the past few days, and that they’re probably wondering why there being blocked or reported. ( sorry to the people who own blogs like these that I blocked you)
So a couple of tips for new blogs on this site,
1.You could change the title (a catchphrase, a favorite quote, a random sentence etc.) or type small description, or whatever random stuff you like!
2. You could change the your avator or icon (it be a picture of you, a cartoon, again it’s your choice do whatever)
3.If you’re not planning to frequently post stuff and just sign in to check out other people’s stuff, just put a put a post something like this just to show you’re new here.(again u can write down anything)
if you’re reading this and new to this website I hope you found these suggestions useful and should stop you from getting blocked immediately. Happy posting.

A few tips for new Tumblr users wanting to write here
Yo if you're here from Reddit or Twitter or some other site and just wanted to give this a shot you may have seen some blogs that are dedicated to writing headcanons or short fics or even original works for their own OCs and you may be thinking "hey I wanna give that a shot! I like to write!" then I have some tips to make it easier on you and people who see your content.
1. First off, if you're writing a pretty long piece the you should probably put it under a read more, it'll look like this on mobile
and this on desktop
or you can write :readmore: on a line by itself and press enter.
2. Now if you're gonna write for a whole bunch of different fandoms and you wanna make a master list then I suggest making an actual list with the fandoms you write for and then making more lists with the actual content as a you go along because you can only have 100 links in one post (I know that sounds like a lot but as someone who has around 300 Transformers things written trust me you fill up a post quicker than you expect, especially if you take requests from other people). The way I typically do it is like this
The first pic is the MASTER master list that lists everything I write for and when they're underlined like that it means they're links. The second pic is after clicking the G1 link, it's a separate post that has the actual fics and headcanon links. Note the 6/100 in the tags, this is how I keep up with how many things I've added. You can of course just use the numbers options from here
or just number them manually from your keyboard like I'm doing with this post. Adding links has no barring on what else you add to the post so you can add yourself some fancy header or divider pics if you want.
3. Adding links! Links can look like this https://www.tumblr.com/wingwaver/721887224846778368/test-post-for-reasons?source=share or like this https://wingwaver.tumblr.com/post/721887224846778368/test-post-for-reasons depending on whether you're linking from mobile or desktop/browser Just highlight the text you wanna add a link to and a the little chain will move to the end, click it and paste your url you want to link to and press add link, then press post/save draft/save (whatever the blue button says)
Now you've successfully linked a post to another post!
4. Tagging! To get your fics and headcanons seen to build an audience you usually wanna tag the stuff correctly. If you're posting a fic about Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney then you'll tag it with #Ace Attorney, #Miles Edgeworth, and #Phoenix Wright in the tags area. But it's also a good idea to mention if it's a ship or general fic in the tags too. If so then putting ship names and #Miles Edgeworth x Phoenix Wright and #Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright in the tags will help everyone know this is a ship fic. Tagging with characters or fandoms that aren't apart of the fic just clogs the tags for people looking for content of said characters and fandoms so it's very looked down on here and will likely get some of your stuff reported for spam so only use the relevant tags. Also tagging for triggers can be tricky here because of how fucky tumblr is but please don't tag censor tags. Tagging things like #a**** or #a*use or even #abu$e doesn't work here because people who have #abuse blacklisted will be able to see this content because it wasn't tagged properly. Also if you're writing for OCs or reader inserts it's common courtesy to tag those appropriately too. Someone looking for a reader insert may not want to read an OC and vice versa. Also many people filter those out so try to add tags like #x reader, #*fandom name* x reader, and #*character name* x reader for easier filtering. Also people cruise those tags too so it'll help people who fo want to read that content find your stuff!
im seeing all the stuff about the reddit refugees vs the twitter refugees and, while im not proud of it, i was a twitter refugee, and i completely agree with the fact that twitter is very popularity based. You really have to start somewhere else and get people to move onto twitter for it work well for you. also, to get twitter tailored to your interests takes more work than what its worth. that kind of environment didnt work well for me; i like supporting everyone, and twitter made it hard to do that. i think, even though i only came on tumblr because twitter was collapsing, that tumblr is a better app for me. since i joined tumblr i hardly go on twitter—i have no more reason to—and i thank tumblr for letting me be a little bit more of myself. there wasnt really much of a point in this post i just wanted to rant about how much better tumblr is than twitter

Hello! This is David here, glad to see you made it! This is a definite work in progress as I get things set up, but I plan to continue sharing all my art here as often as I do on Twitter.
