Omg yesss!! And I swear I will cry if these two donโ€™t end up together. I know thatโ€™s the whole reason Lucy broke up with Nolan in the first place, but writers please make an exception! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Can I Just Say How Much I Love The Parallels Between Tim Bradford And Lucy Chen? How The Pilot Episode

Can I just say how much I love the parallels between Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen? How the pilot episode introduces both of them up as fairly stereotypical, familiar character types so we think we know what to expect, but then it totally flips those perceptions on their head throughout the episode (and then the whole show)?

You have Bradford, this smug, tough, hardass cop. A guy who scares the rookies for fun and acts like a drill sergeant with his boot. That cold, challenging glance he gives Chen when they meet and his tough "I've been shot!" test tells you everything you need to know about him. Or so you think.

And then we have Chen. She's a confident, gorgeous, badass girl who's proud to be joining the police force. She takes down a criminal before her first shift even begins, and she doesn't even break a sweat. You just know she'll be everybody's favorite "girl power" rookie who shatters glass ceilings and takes on the world.

But man, are those first impressions dismantled over the course of Episode 1. The show takes viewers' expectations and turns them on their heads, and makes these characters so much deeper and more compelling in the process.

Yeah, Tim is a tough, smug hardass. But he's a tough, smug, hardass with a broken heart longing for his wife to just come home and be safe. He is hurting and afraid and so, so tender inside. The way his facade just completely shatters when he sees Isabel... I'm still not over it. That's the moment you see the real Tim Bradford.

And Lucy. Yes, she's a badass lady who's going to take on the world. But she's reduced to a timid, uncertain rookie in a matter of seconds once her training starts. Her confidence is not quite all it seemed to be. She's not quite sure who she is or what she's doing here. She's eager to please and wants to fit in, but she doesn't quite know how. Not yet.

The show creates these two characters who seem to fit all the stereotypes we're used to, but then it breaks them down so that instead of one-dimensional characters, we get two beautiful, wounded, scared people who have the opportunity to grow together towards their full potential.

Tim gives Lucy the tools and the nudge she needs to truly become the confident, badass cop that she was born to be. He's not the TO she would've wanted, but he's the one she needed. He trains her in a way that pushes her out of her comfort zone, but his own struggles and failings as a TO also force her to learn how to stand up to authority figures and make her own calls.

And Lucy is Tim's voice of sanity, pulling him from the edge when his wife threatens to drag him down. But she's also compassion and hope and sunshine in his darkness. She's a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. She's someone safe who can see past the mask and will gently help him step out from behind it.

Their character arcs are deeply intertwined, and there's no way to undo that. They were literally written to complement one another. No matter what the writers try to throw at them or how they try to separate them, I think Bradford and Chen will always find their way back to each other, because they were made for one another.

I love how the entire #chenford fan base is just collectively losing their sh!t and none of us are okay.

Someone should check on us.

How you doing?๐Ÿ‘€

From 4x01...

That moment when Lucy was rising from the couch to go to Tim for comfort, exploration/discussion of feelings, etc

Yeah... I think about that a lot.

Like, we'll probably never know, but what exactly was she planning to say or do. She made up in her mind to go to him...

That was a HUGE decision.

And then the phone rings.

Granted that's not really how I would've wanted them to get together anyway (her being devastated about Jackson, Tim would've felt like he was taking advantage of her vulberabilty).

But the possibilities of what could've happen are endless. ๐Ÿค”

Okay, Rookie, I really need a new episode to watch... like right now! My obsessed self is starting to wonder what Tim picked over the sea-bass. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

5x10 was amazing but I'm going stir crazy now.

So my 5x12 promo observations/headcanons are...

Lucy is determined to say "Good morning" to Tim in the cutest ways possible and I cannot wait for her to able to say it while waking up next to him or over his shoulder as he cooks them breakfast.

They reach for each other AT THE SAME TIME! How in sync can they get?!?!

We finally get to see Lucy flustered by Tim. I think him touching her thigh kinda fried her brain for a sec. I mean that 'Ummm' sounded like an unwitting pause. We sorta got a little of that in her misstep with Tim's "It's what gave me the will to live" comment. But I would like to see more of him throwing her off balance like she does to him. She's so good at keeping her composure so seeing her off-kilter and flustered would be hilarious.

Tim bounced back with the "oh, really" so quickly it makes me wonder if he felt like this was coming sooner rather than later. In my headcanon we would get a little montage of chenford makeout sessions that constantly end with disruptions from other people (or doggies) or a few where Lucy pulls back reluctantly saying "not tonight", and Tim can tell she wants more, but he forces himself to stop.

-the cocky, smug and sure way he said "my place or yours?" ๐Ÿฅต how she refrained from throwing him her panties right there, I'll never know.

Tamara knows? Could it be she disrupts a date (maybe the one from the clip of them in a near kiss in Lucy's apt) and Chenford plays it off like another interaction for work? ๐Ÿค”

The flirting and UST is going to kill us all. RIP friends. I'll see yall on the other side.

Anyway I'm sure the writers will give us a good one so I'm down for whatever they bring us. And EW/MO always deliver.

Grey: It's not a good job.

Tim: Doesn't matter. Lucy Chen is the love of my life. I would do anything for her. I would sacrifice whatever I have to be with her. I would give up everything I own to love her. I'll take it.

I don't know about yall, but this is what I heard. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

Okay so now that we've got the Rookie making a big deal out of Tim and Lucy's first time, as they should, (and well done, might I add) I need them to make a big deal out of everything else, too.

I want a big deal made out of everyone finding out, whether it's a cheeky "I knew it!" or scandalous shock.

I need them to make a HUGE DEAL out of their first "I love you". Like, make me gasp and ugly cry, please.

Please make a big deal out of Tim seeing Lucy's DOD tattoo. It's such an important thing for both of them.

I need a big deal made out of the trauma they both still suffer from with their families (Tim's abusive father, Lucy's narcparents) and how they help each other heal from it.

And a big deal out of them loving each other openly, domestically etc

And somebody please make a big deal out of Tim being so darn happy all the time now. That man is sprung!

Okay So Now That We've Got The Rookie Making A Big Deal Out Of Tim And Lucy's First Time, As They Should,

Totally random... but I appreciate that The Rookie does such a great job with casting and scripting their character's family members. Celina's mom is a great choice Same for Angela's family, Lucy's mom, Nyla's daughter, etc.

The first time I saw Jenny- a tall beautiful woman with blue eyes and a sharp bone structure; I said out loud "There's a female Eric Winter".

But it's not just their looks alone. The way they're written and their characterizations are all so realistic. I love this show so much โค.

So, If Tim's Going To Metro We Get More Of This, Right?

Oops. Well hell,... yeah that one too.

So I'm totally not complaining because I am LIVING for the content we're getting. I have never been fed so well with a ship. Like, NEVER!

But I would love to see some domestic Chenford at Tim's house. First of all, I miss Kojo ๐Ÿ˜”. Secondly, I would love to see little traces of Lucy popping up at his place. A picture here, a bouquet there, a shit load of candles lol ijs

Okay, but Tim, baby, you're going to have to learn to close your door and blinds if we're going to get appropriately salacious reactions from Lucy...
