"You just ran into the shop and asked for a medium sized pizza mocha on ice I think you're drunk rn but you're really hot and I kinda want to do whatever you say so do I blend the pizza or just pour a mocha over it?" for ThorBruce

Okay, finally finished it!! I decided to make this a college au, so Thor and Bruce are both humans and in their early twenties probably.

Bruce hated slow days at work. In a way, it was even worse than the days where he couldn’t even catch his breath. At least on those days he didn’t have enough time to check the clock. And when you worked part-time at a bakery with nothing else to do but stare at a clock and wait for customers who weren’t coming, there was only one thing left to do: snack. Which was probably doing wonders for his health, Bruce thought sarcastically as he took a bite of a chocolate danish. He checked his phone. 3:38pm. Three hours and twelve minutes until he could leave. And then he would have to go study for hours on end. Wonderful.

Suddenly, the bell above the door rang and Bruce perked up. Finally, a customer. A customer who, on further inspection, seemed incredibly out of it. He stumbled up the counter, his blue eyes hazy and golden locks falling into his face. He gave Bruce a little smile that somehow managed to come off as charming, despite his state.

“Can I get…uh…” He frowned and furrowed his brow, as if he’d forgotten what to say. “A…oh! A medium pizza mocha…on ice.”

“A…what?” Bruce asked.

“Medium pizza mocha on ice!” the guy said again, leaning against the counter.

“I…” Bruce didn’t know how to tell him that the bakery served neither pizza nor coffee. Even if they did, he had no idea how to prepare that request. “How about I just…get you some water instead and you go sit down? It’s on the house.”

“Okayyyyy.” The guy stumbled over to a table and Bruce brought him a glass of ice water. Seeing as nobody else was coming in, he sat down across from the guy.

“Are you drunk?”

“No!” He paused. “Uhh…maybe. Hehe…”

Bruce sighed softly. At least this was some excitement. And at least the guy was hot. “What’s your name?”

“Thor!”

“Thor?” Bruce repeated. The name sounded strange on his tongue.

“Uh-huh! My dad is…um, he’s from Norway! And, um, it’s the…the god…”

“Right,” Bruce nodded, a smile playing on his lips. “Any particular reason why you’re drunk this early in the day?”

“Nooo,” he admitted. “S’fun, though…”

“Maybe until you wake up later with a hangover.”

Thor crossed his arms and stuck his lower lip out. “I don’ get hangovers!”

“Sure.” Bruce suddenly felt a little worried for Thor’s safety. “Hey…do you want me to walk you home? I mean, after my shift, of course.”

“I don’need help…” Thor lifted an arm and flexed. “M’strong!”

Bruce’s eyes widened a bit. Fuck yes, he was strong. But that was besides the point. “And very, very drunk. How about you just sit here and I’ll help take you home in a couple hours, okay?”

Thor stood his ground for a few more seconds, then shrugged and gave in. “Mmkay.”

“Good. You just rest here, okay?”

“‘Kay…” Thor suddenly seemed sleepy. “Gonna sleep…”

Bruce smiled a little and nodded. “Okay. You do that. Call me if you need anything.”

“Mm…” Thor leaned back and tucked his head in towards his chest. Bruce laughed softly and stepped away, letting him sleep.

Hours passed, with only a few other customers passing through before Bruce’s shift ended. The shop was full of silence accompanied only by Thor’s soft snores. Bruce gently tapped his shoulder.

“Hey. Thor.”

Thor grumbled something and brushed Bruce’s hand away.

“C’mon, man…” Bruce shook his shoulders. Finally, Thor stirred awake.

“Wha…?”

“Time to go. I need you up.”

“Oh…” He yawned and held his head. “Shit…”

“What did I tell you?” Bruce sighed softly. “Here. Drink some of the water.”

Thor did so and brushed his hair back, squinting in the shop’s fluorescent lighting. “Am I going home?”

“Yeah, as long as you tell me where ‘home’ is.”

“Right…” Thor stood shakily and paused. “I never got your name.”

“Oh. Bruce.”

“Bruce…” He nodded. “Thank you. I…am so sorry for all this.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Bruce shrugged. “Let’s go, okay? You probably wanna rest more.”

“Yes, I do…” Thor rubbed his eyes and sighed. “Very much so.”

“Then we’ll get you back in bed.” Bruce gave him a little smile and started towards the exit. Thor followed after, his face blotchy and red with embarrassment.

12. things you said when you thought i was asleep

16. things you said with no space between us

(This is kinda shitty and short but there’s lots of fluff! Thanks for the request!)

To say that Bruce was exhausted was an understatement. His eyelids felt like they were made of stone. His research notes were growing increasingly messier and each word seemed fuzzy and unintelligible. It was getting to the point where Bruce was actually considering turning in for the night. He removed his glasses with a half-hearted sigh and rubbed his eyes. No. He wouldn’t go to sleep. Not yet. He would just rest for a few minutes.

Bruce laid his head on the desk and closed his eyes. They stung slightly and he winced, but finally closing them was like a wave of relief washing over him. He wasn’t sure how long it was until his break was interrupted by a soft voice.

“Banner?”

That was Thor’s voice. No doubt about it. Bruce wanted to reply, but even the small action of raising his head to look at his friend seemed like too much effort. He was just too exhausted.

“Banner?” Thor asked again, this time in a much softer tone. He sounded a little bit closer. “Oh…”

Again, Bruce considered answering him, but decided against it.

“Bruce,” he sighed. “You can’t keep working this late every night…”

Fabric rustled, and Bruce felt something being draped across his back. A blanket, maybe? Well, that was awfully kind.

“You worry me sometimes,” Thor laughed softly. Something soft touched Bruce’s forehead. Bruce flushed bright red when he realized it was a set of lips–Thor’s lips.

“I love you,” Thor whispered so close that Bruce could feel his hot breath near his ear. At this point, Bruce didn’t care how tired he was. He bolted straight up and stared at Thor, who jumped back. Both were at a loss for words.

Finally, Thor choked out a timid, “I thought you were asleep…”

“I…um, no…not really…” he muttered.

“How much did you hear?”

“A lot…um, enough, I mean.”

Thor laughed nervously. “Um…I apologize…”

“For what?”

“I didn’t mean to…I mean, I didn’t think you’d hear me, y’know?”

“Thor…” Slowly, Bruce stood. The cloth around his shoulders slipped a bit, and he grabbed it. It wasn’t a blanket, but Thor’s bright red cape.

He wasn’t sure how he achieved what he did next. A sudden burst of courage, sleep-deprivation? Possibly a combination of both. Whatever the reason, though, Bruce raised himself on his toes and pecked Thor on the lips. When he pulled away, Thor was grinning like a madman. Bruce smiled back at him.

“I love you, too.”

dude i bet thor and bruce barely ever talk to each other in english. like i totally bet bruce would learn the asgardian language (whether that be Norwegian or a whole different language) and since thor has allspeak, bruce could speak whatever languages he wants (cuz i’m assuming the man knows a lot) and he would understand him. this means a lot of secretive whispers and glares from the other avengers who have no idea what they’re saying. que the gossiping in other languages about their friends lmao

Au where yelling makes Bruce really uncomfortable because it reminds him of his dad and sometimes when the other avengers are arguing he lowkey stars having flashbacks and has to leave the room.

He doesn’t want to ask them to keep it down because he doesn’t really think they would listen anyway and he doesn’t think it’s a big deal (even though it kind of is).

And Thor is concerned about how Bruce is always going off to be alone. And when Thor finds out why he wants to help.

and Bruce is like ??why?? its fine I can deal with it and Thor is like because you shouldn’t have to deal with it

so Thor takes it upon himself to do something, because is Bruce isn’t gonna take care of his mental health then Thor will.

He makes an effort never to raise his voice anywhere around Bruce and whenever anyone else does Thor gets so pissed he starts radiating electricity and fucking up the electronics in the area (blowing out bulbs, frying phones, and short circuiting the building more than once). It doesn’t take long for everyone to take a hint and keep things calm and civil.

Anyway I just love the idea of Thor being all protective and watching out for Bruce’s mental health because Bruce sure as hell doesn’t

Art By @radicles-art I Try Not To Think Infinity War Happen But I Think It Will Do Good With This Story

Art by  @radicles-art I try not to think infinity war happen but I think it will do good with this story so sorry. Also this is short so sorry.

On the space ship before Thanos arrives:

“Do you want kids Thor?”Bruce asks sitting across Thor looking up at him with a questioning gaze.

Thor looks at bruce and smiles wide “Well of course I want children, but well we can’t exactly have children but one day maybe we could have.” Thor says his smile fading slightly.

“I mean we could always adopt when we get back to earth.” Bruce says smiling brightly.

“Of course we can adopt a child.”Thor says happily looking at bruce not expecting for him to jump on top of him and smiling like crazy.

“Thank you thank you!!” Bruce says repeatedly hugging and kissing Thor.

“Anything.”

Few months after snap:

Bruce walks through the palace(Wakanda)like hes a zombie who doesn’t know how to do much. They brought Tony and Nebula back to earth, but since the snap Thor and Bruce have become distance. Thor spends most of his time trying to find anything about Thanos with the help of Nebula and Bruce spends most of his time with Shuri and Tony in her lab trying to find ways to bring the others back. When Tony found out that Bruce and Thor were together he was happy for them but he tried not to think about Pepper and how he wasn’t able to save the two most important people in his life. So when he realize that Thor and Bruce haven’t seen each other for a while since both have been trying to avoid each other, because they both can’t bare look at each other after the snap. He first tries to get Bruce to go talk to him but it doesn’t work so after giving up on trying. He gets Nebula to lock Thor into his and Bruce’s share bedroom that neither one uses since Bruce crashes on a couch in the lab and Thor falls asleep anywhere. Tony kicks Bruce out of the lab and ask Shuri to not allow Bruce into any other room other than his and Thor’s. So that’s what lead Bruce to walk to his bedroom with his head down not really thinking about anything but how hes mad that Tony won’t let him back into the lab. He reaches the bedroom with out looking up and just jumps on the bed not realizing that there was someone eles on the bed. “OW!”Someone yelped in pain.Bruce jumped out of the bed and fell to the floor only to look up to see Thor.Thor looks down to see bruce and goes to quickly help him up.“Are you okay?”Thor says wary,Bruce looks at the hand Thor offers hims. Bruce doesn’t grab Thor’s hand and just gets up by his self. “I’m fine.At least i’m awake now.” Bruce wipers the last part to himself before  standing up properly. “I’m going to go see if Tony will let me back into the lab.” Bruce starts to put his clothes back on and starts to walk to the door before Thor reaches out and grabs his arm. “Wait Bruce can we speak to each other, please?” Thor ask looking at Bruce with tire puffy eyes. Bruce stops and pulls his hand away “What do you want to talk about?” Bruce ask looking at Thor then down to his feet.

“Can we sit?” Thor ask sitting down in the floor, Bruce follows and sits across him.”Can we speak about us?” “What do you want to talk about? Do you want to tal about how you’ve been avoiding me?!”Bruce ask looking down with slight anger.

“Do you still want kids.” Thor ask trying to make Bruce to look up at him.Bruce looks up and a smile appears on his face but quickly fades.

”Why would you want kids we don’t even talk to each other and half of the population is dead.”Thor reaches out to grab bruce hand.

”Because, we wanted kids and as much as I wish to get all our friends back it wont be likely.” Thor pauses and smiles slightly “And i’m sorry that I haven’t talked to you I just. I don’t know i’m afraid that I will lose you like everyone else.” Thor looks down and tears start to stream down his face.

“Hey, hey its okay.” Bruce says caressing Thor’s cheek. “I’m sorry it’s also my fault, Iv’e just been so caught up in my work trying to come up with something, and i’m sorry i’m just afraid that i’ll lose you.”

Thor doesn’t think and just pulls Bruce into a bone crushing hug. He lays his head on Bruce’s shoulder and crying lightly.

“And Thor having kids would be great but are you even sure now would be good time to talk about kids?”

Thor looks up at Bruce and smile”We can raise a child and we can work on getting back our friends.” Thor says.

Bruce doesn’t say anything and Thor takes a chance to lean in a kiss Bruce passionately. Bruce at first doesn’t raspones but then he sneks his hand to Thor’s head kissing him back passionately.

Bruce pulls back from lack of air.”We can adopt a kid but you need to promise me something.”

“Anything Bruce I will do anything.” Thor says holding bruce Face.

“That both of us will do everything to raise this child and that we both will stop this and only work when necessary.” Bruce says hopefully.

“Of course, I will do anything for you.” Thor says happily.

Bruce smiles widely and pulls bruce into another hug.

Two weeks later after getting everything ready

Bruce and Thor walk into a orphanage following the lady who showed them all the rooms with all the children.

“Is it a baby you want?” The lady ask.

“We don’t really know yet.” Bruce says “Oh well most of the kids who are above the age of three are playing out side, the babies are in the nursery and they have there age are next to there beds, and the kids from one to two of age are in the second floor and they might be napping or playing.” The lady says leaving Thor and Bruce to them self. “Can I go look at the toddlers?” Bruce says already walking up the stairs leaving Thor alone. Thor goes to talk to the lady that showed them around Bruce reaches the top of the stair case and sees children asleep but as he looks around he sees a small boy that is sitting by himself drawing in the middle of the room. Bruce walks over to the small child and looks down to see what the child with curly black hair was drawing. “Hi what are you drawing?” Bruce ask startling the boy a bit, the boy turns around and shows Bruce his drawing of a bunch of lines and colors. “It’s the ocean.” The small boy says with a slight quiet voice that sounded kinda scratchy.  “Oh its really pretty.” They boy lights up at the complement. “Uh whats your name?” The boy looks down then looks up.”Everyone calls me curly.” Bruce feels slightly bad at that but he smiles”Really, my name is Bruce Banner.” “Why talking to me?Peoples go to the babies always.”Curly says sadly. “Oh you seem nice, and I’m here with my boyfriend.” Bruce says trying to keep his smile from faltering because he felt sadden by Curly. “Oh luck with getting a baby.” Curly says. “Can I color with you?” Bruce ask sitting down next to Curly. Curly smiles and hands Bruce a paper.”Yes color with mi.”Curly says happily.

Bruce grabs the color and starts to draw a star while Curly draws a bunch of lines with many colors. Bruce doesn’t realize that Thor was standing at the door smiling at how Bruce and the boy got along. Bruce is talking to Curly about what each of them is drawing. “Ey Bruce.” Thor says softly not wanting to startle either of the boys. Bruce turns around to see Thor standing by the door.”Uh yes love?” Bruce says standing up telling Curly that he will be right back. “So Thor.”

“I can tell you already love that boy.”Thor says smiling looking down at Curly. “Well yea he’s adorable and he would fit in right in with us, well unless you have a different choice then we ca-”

“Bruce we can discuss and we can adopt him.”Thor says sweetly.

Bruce smiles and walks back to Curly sitting back down on the ground across the boy.”Hey Curly can I ask you something?”Curly nods.” Uh so me and Thor who is my boyfriend talked and we want to ask you, if you want to come live with us and be our son?”Bruce ask looking down at curly.

Curly looks up at Bruce then he turns his head to look at Thor and he smiles brightly and jumps up.”YEs!”Curly slightly yells. Bruce pulls curly into a hug and smiles brightly, he turns to Thor and smiles even brightly. “Okay then me and Thor are going to go fill out some papers then later you can come home with us.”Bruce says picking up Curly and smiling like a big dork.

Bruce caries Curly all the way down to the first floor with Thor fallowing behind him making silly face at Curly. Thor starts to talk to the lady and fallows her to a other room so they can fill out papers. “Hey Bruce why don’t you go get all of his stuff and i’ll fill everything out.” Bruce nods and walks back up with curly. ”Curly do you want a actual name?” Bruce ask and Curly nodded.”What name do you want?” ”I don’t know.” ”Daniel,Angel,Loki,Ben,Heimdall,Jack,Mathew,James,Peter,Ryle, or any other name you like.” Bruce says not being able to come up with other names. ”Can I chose my name?”Bruce nods. ”Can my name be Benny?” Bruce smiles. ”Are you sure because this is going to be your name forever.” Bruce says. ”Yea I want my name to be Benny.”Benny smiles and laughs shoving all of his things into a bag. ”Okay then.”Bruce helps Benny put all the things into his bagpack

1 hour later

Thor caries a sleeping Benny to there car and sits hims down carefully into a car seat. “Why did you let him call him self Benny?”Thor ask as he gets into the seat. “Because I let him chose his name.”Bruce says before starting the car and driving back to Stark Tower.  When they made it back to the tower Tony is waiting for the both of them. “Finally Bruce you made me a uncle.”Tony tried to joke. Thor cracks a smile and takes out all the stuff and Bruce unbuckles Benny and caries him into the building laying him down on a couch. 4 years later(Everyone fighting Thanos.) Bruce walks into the wakandan pales looking for Benny to make sure hes safe. “Hey Hey!!!”Benny yells running toward Bruce with one of his dress shirts that i messily tucked into his pants along with messy black curls “Did we make it? Did we do something good?” Benny ask rapidly. “Yup strongest avenger.”Bruce says bending down so he can see Benny “Don’t tell Thor I said that.” Bruce says smiling. “Isn’t Thor the strongest Avenger?”Benny asks confusedly. Bruce puts his hand on top of Benny’s shoulder and smiles.”The most important muscle is the heart. Ours is like a bowling ball.” Benny smiles “Wheres dad?” Bruce smile falters and he avoids eye contact with Benny.”Daddy wheres dad?” Benny ask again, tears threatening to leave his eyes. “Benny.” Bruce says softly,”Daddy isn’t coming back.”Tears start to fall from both males.”He’s with uncle Loki and his mother now.”Bruce turns his gaze back at Benny who is sobbing now, Bruce pulls him into a tight hug”I’m sorry I could’t save him.” Okay its 3:02 in the morning and I can’t sleep so sorry about killing Thor but I don’t know why I always kill someone cuz I can. I love Thor tho.

Sorry if there are any mistakes it’s 3:10 in the morning and well I really don’t want to scroll @kazbalze @sciencegirlpower @jom-thewizard @kitkat-fangirl308 IM ALSO TWO FALLOWS FROM 100 I HAVE DONE SOMETHING RIGHT IN LIFE

“The real secret of magic lies in the performance” David Copperfield

Bruce Banner had the longest hat-stall in history. It took the Sorting Hat twenty-five minutes to decide where he would go. Ravenclaw? He was smart, nearly dangerously so. He had ambitions to be better than his father ever was, but a temper to match–Slytherin? A kind, determined temperament and genuine care for his friends and environment–Hufflepuff is a bit short of herbologists, perhaps he could be the next great.

But there it was, underneath every notion of himself. A beating heart to protect those he loved, a brash attitude to carry it out.

“GRYFFINDOR!” the Sorting Hat had rung out, sighs of relief escaping and “it took you long enough” from the other tables.

Bruce likes the color red. It is the color of rage, but not–not now. It is not the color of fear and anger and too-much-all-the-time here. It is safety and friends and sometimes anger. But not long anger, not anger to last years.

He never even knew this part about him. Bruce could never have known that at some point in his life, his mother was an accomplished adventurer who had chronicled some of the most elusive species. She was in Ravenclaw, and people had said the reason she got so close to the animals was because she could be as still as a tree.

He meets people, and they form their own little group despite certain connotations.

His first friend is Tony, who is a Ravenclaw. His parents were both purebred Slytherins, cunning and cold and detached. Bruce remembers hearing Tony’s voice falter as he said that he wasn’t sure he was going to home for Christmas dinner. It was okay. He and Bruce went to the Christmas feast and they tried the weirdest food combinations they could and didn’t think about the fact that neither had a loving family.

His second friend was made in Astrology class, Jane Foster. She didn’t really like the notion that stars controlled your every move and action or determined your future, but she liked learning about the constellations and drawing them on her arms.

She talks about how she doesn’t really want to do anything in the wizarding world, just become an astrophysicist and discover new ways to travel.

“It sucks that we’re so limited by Floo and apparating,” she said. “What if we could travel to entirely new places? Like, space places?” Bruce admits it would be cool.

His third friend is another Gryffindor, just like him. They’re paired with Slytherins for their Quidditch class. Bruce is timid, but Bucky is the picture of confidence. He has a shiny metal arm, plates ever-shifting.

Bucky is a power house when it comes to getting the Quaffle into the hoops. He’s insanely flexible, using an old Cleansweep 8 like it was a brand new Firebolt 3.

“It’s all about the delivery,” he says. “Now come on, there’s gotta be something you’re passable at.” Bruce pushes up his glasses, not being able to see the small, golden Snitch that well. They give him a stick, and tell him to be a Beater.

Bruce is a legend after that class. He beats Bludgers so bad it seems like the balls don’t even want to come near the Gryffindor side. The Quidditch coach–Danvers–grins as she looks at him.

“You’re gonna be famous, Banner.”

The fourth friend is made when Bucky gets joined by his best friend, Steve. Steve is in Slytherin, a Seeker despite his huge frame, and likes to laugh. Bruce was told that the house isn’t bad–bad people can come from it, but look at a few other members of history that were from Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Everyone has good and bad in them.

They eat together on the nice days, the ones off school. Joining them is Clint, a Hufflepuff. He’s really good at aiming, getting food from the commons that no one else can find when they’re in first year, and thinks that if they play their cards right, they might be able to get out of the huge end-of-year essay that Professor Coulson has assigned for the last thirty-odd years.

Joining Clint is mysterious Natasha, and a Slytherin who smiles like she knows enough secrets to get you killed, but has the same dorky sense of humor as Bruce and Steve.

Then, there’s a match with Hufflepuff that Bruce will never forget. Around Hogwarts, they call it Thunder Stadium Day.

There’s a wizard from up north, or at least, a student. His name is Thor and he’s built like a power house. He’s confident, nice, and is said to be part of a long legacy of successful Quidditch players. Their team captain–Rhodey–says that he’s been to one of their practices, and Thor beats Bludgers like they’re barely even moving. Grand slam, every time.

It’s an expectation set on Bruce to at least try.

And try he does. He does even more than that. Thor is a powerful guy, built like a god. Bruce can’t deny that he doesn’t look good–he’s ripped, has a nice smile, and now is so not the time to focus on that. He’s hitting Bludgers out of the stadium, cracking them like it’s nothing more than a gnat buzzing around him. He sends Sharon–one of their best Chasers–flying out into the audience, nearly knocking into Steve.

He takes rage, takes all of this energy he has been building up–”You’re so zen, Bruce, how’d you do it?” Tony asks–

BOOM.

It feels like he just made a crack of thunder, and the stadium is silenced for a moment.

Thor looks at Bruce with a shocked expression on his face. Bruce just shrugs and grins.

“Well, this was certainly the most electrifying game we’ve had,” Tony comments. “So, um, Bruce Banner just obliterated any hope of Thor being a total dominator on-field, thank you Gryffindor for still maintaining your reputation as the best, nice one–”

Hufflepuff ends up winning. Their whole spiel is being good finders, and they still have one of the best Seekers, Peter Parker. Kid is tiny, fast, and talks a mile a minute. He’s damned good at perception.

Bruce isn’t expecting Thor to talk to him after it.

“You were impressive,” he says. “You’re as strong as I in the field. Why is that?” Bruce just shrugs. You can’t just outright say “I have issues with my family and have a tendency to bottle everything up”. Please. He was in company.

“Just practice, I guess.” Thor nods.

“Well done, then.”

Bruce sees a lot more of Thor than he thought he would. Thor walks with him to their Potions class, gets in on the lunch group. Bruce enjoys talking to Thor, who is smarter than he appears and kinder than he anticipated.

They study in the library together. Bruce doesn’t exactly need studying–well, his Transfiguration could use a bit of work, but that could be put off another day–but Thor was well and truly fucked for Muggle Studies.

“What do you mean you guys don’t have moving pictures?” Thor asks. “Not even..one?”

“All we got are movies,” Bruce says with a shrug. “Well, unless you count gifs as moving pictures, but those are just one instance.”

“You are all philistines who won’t last another year,” Thor says. “Ugh, I’m going to fail this test. Professor May said that we need to memorize a ton of Muggle inventions, including an oven for children. Why you lot bake children, I’ll never know.”

“That’s called cannibalism, and that’s still a crime here,” Bruce says with a laugh. “You dork, it’s an Easy-Bake Oven. They’re little microwave ovens that kids can use to practice baking and shit.”

“I don’t think I can use that exact phrase on my essay,” Thor says with a smile. “You gigantic nerd.”

Time passes, and it’s winter. It’s a gorgeous view from the windows, candlelight lighting the place up, sweaters worn always, and fires crackling.

Bruce Banner Hated Being Cold. He couldn’t stand it. He would never go to the Slytherin common room because even with the extra fire places, it was never warm enough. Tony joked that once it hit eighteen degrees celsius, he couldn’t stand anything.

This means that Thor has to deal with a very tired and cold Bruce when they go to Potions class.

“You’re so weak,” Thor says.

“You don’t even remember what Wi-Fi is, shut up,” Bruce mutters. “I forgot my sweater.”

“You’re literally right next to the cauldron fire.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Bruce says. “I want tea.”

The next time they have Potions–and Bruce forgets his sweater, again–Thor just rolls his eyes and pulls his own sweater out of his bag.

“It’s gonna be a bit big on you, but it should do fine you big baby.” Bruce smiles as he feels the soft material. It’s perfectly cozy, a nice knit pattern. It also smells fantastic–like burning wood and crisp apples.

After lunch, Natasha walks with Thor to their Defense class.

“Your crush is beginning to show,” she says simply. “Quit giving Bruce heart-eyes every single time he’s in your line of sight.”

“I don’t–”

“I really don’t think you want to finish that statement,” Natasha says. “Especially because I could have you vomiting frogs for the next week every single time you said a lie, and I bet you would confess.”

(Thor isn’t exactly scared of Nat. He’s just…intimidated.)

Christmastime is as joyous as it is tense. People are going home, people are staying. Steve, Sharon, Bucky, and Jane are all going home. Most everyone else in their friend group is staying. Except for Thor, who is going home with his brother Loki.

They open gifts the night before all the students go home for break. Bruce smiles as he gets many drawings of constellations from Jane, as well as a couple of the Muggle newspaper clippings. She got one of the articles, cut out pieces, just to say, “Neil Armstrong was That Bitch.” (How she got the word “bitch” was unclear.)

Tony gets him a new Wizard chess set, promising to pass the time playing it with Bruce, and hopefully beating him at least once.

“We’ll see,” Bruce says.

Sharon and Steve have a joint gift, a white lab coat with the ability to have ink reappear and disappear at Bruce’s will.

“We got a Seventh year to do it,” Sharon says. “Just in case that pesky Professor Ross tries to stump you again or you have an idea.”

There are many presents, many thanks and hugs.

The most important gift, however, is the one from Thor.

“You grabbed my favorite sweater, but I need it to return home,” he teases. “So, I’ve brought you a replacement.”

It’s a soft yellow, not a color Bruce wears at all. It still smells like burning wood and crisp apples, though. Bruce smiles.

“Doubles as Gryffindor wear, yeah?” Thor asks.

That night, when Bruce is in the Ravenclaw boarding rooms, talking with Tony about theories and science, it’s brought up to him out of the blue.

“You like Thor, right?” Bruce blanches at the question.

“What.”

Tony shrugs. “You, um, like Thor. You know. You always talk about him, have his sweater as a gift, and you already miss him. It’s pretty obvious, Bruce.”

Oh no. Tony grins.

“You just realized this, didn’t you?”

Bruce, thinking: Wait a minute, does Thor like me? Quick! Make a really bad joke and see if he laughs!

Bruce: Did you hear about the skeleton who didn’t go to the party? He had no body to go with!

Thor: Haha! Banner, you’re so funny!

Bruce, thinking: Well that’s not really a fair test. That joke is hilarious.

Thor: you were happy once, Bruce?

Bruce: I was never happy. I was just less pissed off.

Stardust

(angsty thorbruce fic trade with @lokilovemail !! im sorry it took so long! tw for panic attacks)

Stars had always been a comfort for Thor.

They dotted out so far, symbols of time and space moving on eternally, leaving things behind but never forgetting. They sparkled brilliantly, such small specks of light somehow illuminating a never ending void of darkness, all with the help of different moons and planets. Thor liked to think of himself as a moon; he used to think of Asgard as the sun. Now he felt like nothing more than lost stardust, scattered in the endless darkness of space.

The stress of being a king was weighing down on him, day after day, and sleepless night after night. Of course, it was hard to tell the difference now that there wasn’t a sun to greet and a moon to speak soft farewells to. Their ship seemed to be on it’s own schedule now; Thor did his governing when everyone else was awake, but once they slept, Thor stayed up.

He supposed that’s what it was like to be stardust; moons got breaks, they could rest with the warmth of the sun tucking them in and the stars wishing them goodnight. But being stardust was like being a path to nothing, a path that seems like a solace but only leads to loss and nullity. He saw the stardust on his cheeks through his reflection in the window, milkyway teardrops sparkling as they fell.

He shut his eyes tight, feeling the tears burn under his eyelids as his throat seemed to scrape around the lump that formed inside of it. He never broke down like this; he was a king, people would gladly kill to be in his position, but Thor had never felt more trapped in all of his 1500 years. A gasp choked out from his throat, and his stomach pained him forward, hunching over the window as tears dripped down on it.

He opened his eyes, a quiet gasp escaping him when he saw someone behind him.

Banner looked brilliant in this lighting; his milky skin enveloped in a blue glow, the darks of his hair seeming a bit purple as it danced with the silvery gray growing in it. His eyes were magnified under thick glasses, as if trying to display the hurt and worry in them when he saw Thor.

He didn’t know what to say; his shoulders fell as he covered his eyes, sniffling into his hand as he rested his elbow on his knee. He was shivering so hard he’d occasionally slip, and there was a feeling in his stomach he’d never experienced before. It felt like he couldn’t get enough air, that each desperate gasp for breath had just decreased the amount of oxygen that was left for him. He didn’t know this feeling, this cold, crawly feeling that he couldn’t shake off.

He felt the warmth of Banner sliding down next to him, clenching his teeth as he tried to keep himself still. He didn’t know what this was, he didn’t have any idea what was happening to him, he just wished Banner wasn’t seeing him like this. He wished Banner had just stayed in his room, he wished he’d just let him be.

Then he felt Bruce lay a hand on his back, rubbing it in circles, and he couldn’t help but turn to him and sink into his arms. He rested his forehead against Banner’s chest, feeling him jump a little in surprise as he returned the embrace. His arms were holding onto Banner’s sides, as if he were disappearing, as if the only thing grounding him was having Bruce so close.

“B-Banner, I-I don’t know-” his voice was cracking so much that when he took in a breath it felt sharp and painful. He coughed it out, gripping onto Bruce’s shirt harder. The material was soft in his trembling hands, and he couldn’t help but let out a sigh when he felt the other man’s arms strengthen around him. “I-I don’t know what’s happening- a-am I-”

“You’re okay,” Bruce was speaking in a whisper. Shivers crawled up the god’s spine when he felt Banner’s hand, gentle and steady, brush through the back of Thor’s closely-cropped hair. “Shhh. You’re okay, Thor, you’re going to be just fine. You’re going to be just fine.” He repeated himself, Thor starting to steady in Banner’s embrace.

He felt the material of Bruce’s shirt dampen with his tears. Banner instructed him to take deep breaths, and despite how odd it felt in his chest, he tried. He tried and tried until it became easier and until the air felt familiar again. He kept breathing, feeling his chest warm as he became more aware of the light brushing of Bruce’s hand in his hair, of the warmth of the smaller man’s body huddled so closely to his own.

Soon, Thor had melted. His cheek was laying against Bruce’s chest, letting his head rise and fall along with the scientist’s steady breathes. His arms were tiredly snaked around Bruce’s sides, and he sniffled in air as Bruce combed gently through his hair. “Banner,” he whispered, when everything felt much easier. “What happened to me?”

“I think you panicked,” Bruce explained, his voice low and soft, his fingers not faltering the patterns they were making in his hair. “But it’s ok. Happens to me a lot. You’ll be fine.” Banner said this matter-of-factly, but Thor couldn’t help but trace the worry that was still in his voice.

“I feel so lost,” The words were spilling out of Thor faster than he could catch them, and he felt himself clutching onto Bruce again. “I feel so small. Everything else is so…It’s so big, Banner. It’s too much.”

“I know, I know,” Bruce whispered, rubbing circles in Thor’s back while pulling the blinds that had come with the ship over the window in front of them. “Just don’t look. Sometimes you gotta make everything else seem smaller.”

Thor nodded at this, closing his eyes and leaning into his friend. “Thank you, Banner.”

“Of course.”

They stayed like that for so long that Thor felt himself start to doze off. His eyelids were so heavy that he had to look through the remaining teardrops at Bruce as he started to lower Thor back into his bed. He was so sleepy that at first he didn’t even realize this, but when he felt the warmth of Bruce’s hand start to slide off his arm, he clutched at his wrist.

Bruce looked down at him, eyes wide and milky skin tinted with pink. Thor’s chest warmed at the sight. “Stay. With me,” Thor whispered, his eyes falling closed as he ran his thumb up and down Bruce’s wrist. “You make everything seem smaller, Banner.”

Bruce reluctantly obliged, slowly lowering himself next to Thor, who desperately pulled him as close as he’d go. It was a slow feat, as Thor didn’t want to frighten him, but he was happy when he felt Bruce’s arms around Thor just as tight, his head lying so close that Thor felt his curls tickle his chin.

For the first time since Asgard, he slept soundly. For the first time since Asgard, he felt like a moon; he felt like Bruce was teaching him how to be a sun. He forced his eyes open one more time, seeing Bruce lay peacefully next to him, eyes closed and breath balanced and steady.

Yeah- he felt like a sun, he concluded.
