I think it’s the funniest thing that in the pilot of the X-Files, cigarette smoking man and his posse really thought that sending in Scully, a woman of science, would be their own Trojan Horse and a way to take Mulder out, only for Scully to see the plan all along and join Mulder’s side, thus creating a chain and effect lasting over a course of years to what would inevitably be the higher ups own downfall.

I never not laugh now at this thought when watching the pilot, because they really did that.

They shot themselves.

What if Mulder and Scully’s kid(s) ever asked how they met.

Would it literally be Mulder just saying, “Well, your mom was sent to destroy my life’s work on hunting down the truth about aliens and the other freaky unknowns of this world, but I somehow convinced her to join me instead.”

i’ve seen two episodes of the x-files but i already know that at least the first two seasons are going to be mulder going “it’s ALIENS, scully!” and scully going “it’s not fucking aliens, mulder!” and them being exasperatedly fond of each other

surprising a grand total of ZERO people, my first foray into pixel art is x files themed 🤪

Sometimes you gotta wonder how Mulder was allowed out in the field before Scully. I imagine him working cases alone would be like:

Mulder: “Yes sir I can confirm aliens landed in your wheat field and killed all 8 of your cows, but the good news is you’re still here and the aliens aren’t so I wouldn’t worry too much. Of course being you didn’t keep any evidence because those men in black…wait, did you keep any evidence??!?!”

Mulder: “No ma’am the sergeant has it wrong, your son wasn’t abducted by a human, the obvious culprit is Bigfoot. No other explanation with a footprint that big out in your yard. I mean come on…look at it!”

Mulder: “Okay Skinner I know how my report sounds, but before you start yelling, I swear on my life it’s 100 percent true.”

Skinner: “…”

“You said a tree creature tried to drag you into the woods with its branch like arms, Mulder…”

Mulder: “…”

“Huh…well now that I hear it out loud…do you think it may have not been trying to kill me but show me something important?”

the year is 2024. I am watching The X Files 1x08 with my blissfully offline boyfriend. We reach the scene where, in confinement, Mulder and Scully examine each other's backs for alien marks. My boyfriend, who has never seen the show before, makes an amused noise and utters a strong contender for understatement of the year:

"I'm guessing there's fanfiction about these two"
