Someone asked me yesterday whether I had ever watched The Waltons, and I said “Hell yeah, John Boy was my first fictional crush.” Which is, for the record, absolutely true.

Here is what else is true: I loved the Waltons because they, like me, were rural people totally bewildered by the manifest and unrelenting terrors of the world in which they lived. They, like me, were living with the reality that any day could be the one that changed everything, forever. And they, like me, had only their family ties to cling to amidst the uncertainty. And like me, John Boy had his to find a way to convey all this—the fear, the beauty, the love—with only words.

Anyway, yeah, I’ve seen The Waltons.

Anyone else watch a show and the entire episode just infuriates you??

I'm watching an old show called The Waltons. In the show, the whole family ignores this kid named Jim Bob, around 10ish years old when his pet dies even when he's crying, they were straight up bullying him.

so he runs away, and when they read the left, saying his pet died and they ignored him, so he's leaving they laugh about it and don't take it seriously. Eventually, they finally get a little concerned around nighttime. But some of them still don't seem to care and it's just so agitating to me because they just don't care
