so i'm gonna try using my terrible writing skills to try and make it into a paragraph.

Smokescreen. Maybe a little too eager for his own good. This point was proved to be very accurate today, when Smokescreen had decided to barge into a Decepticon energon mine ALONE to try to blow it up. He did succeed, but he hadn't made it out in time to be fully unscathed(and this is a very big understatement). And that, was how he'd ended up in Ratchet's Medbay. Ratchet already had to use about three energon transfusions just to get Smokescreen to wake up. Smokescreen shifted, and said: "I love sleepovers.". Whatever Optimus thought Smokescreen was going to say, it wasn't that. Optimus decided to explain to Smokescreen what had happened. It didn't seem to be going very well.

"This is not a 'sleepover', you're in the medbay, Smokescreen."

"But, we got special drinks!"

"That's a transfusion, Smokescreen. You got very heavily damaged."

"Truth or Dare?"

Optimus decided that trying to get Smokescreen to understand was a lost cause. So he just decided to play along.

"Dare."

And with that, whatever wellspring of patience Ratchet had managed to uncover ran out.

"OPTIMUS! YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYING GAMES WITH HIM! WHAT ARE YOU EVEN HERE FOR???"

As Ratchet continued his tirade, Jack and a very amused Arcee were watching the scene like it was a show. The only thing missing now was a laugh track.

"Seems like Primes do party sometimes, huh?"

Not me imagining the bots freaking out when one of the kids fall asleep suddenly. Like Jack working the night shift and falling asleep on top of Acree at a red light or Miko getting into Bulk sluggishly after staying up all night doing something and she just curls up on his seat and falls asleep without a word. I can so see both Bumblebee and Raf having troubles sleeping/recharging so they have both probably passed out when they are parked on the side of the road or behind some rock. Have probably freaked out Optimus and Ratchet before once doing this. But if Bee wakes up before Raf he will silently freak out because he’s pretty sure his seats aren’t that comfortable or that a human should stay in that pose for long

(We’re not going to talk about me disappearing)

Here's my piece for the To Be Gentle Zine hosted by @allsparkzines! It features TFP Optimus and the human kiddos meeting a rather prickly little critter.

I did my best and that's what matters.

Title: Nature Walk

Word Count: 950

It was a warm evening in early summer, and Optimus was grateful for a wave of peace. He continued on, making sure the children were still nearby. They were scaling the hills beside him as he walked, the slope not too steep and eventually leaving them at around eye level to him. 

He smiled to himself as he watched them all chatter among themselves, and how Jack and Miko would walk slowly to allow Raf to keep up on his little legs. Something about the mundane nature on Earth spoke to his spark; it refreshed him and made him more resolute to fight for it. 

He wished it didn’t take the war to get here, but he wouldn’t trade these moments for anything.

He pauses to take a look at some flowers on a tree, slightly wilted as they prepare to become fruits. He finds himself fixated on the mottled pink petals that are now dry and wrinkled, and he wishes his hands weren't so big that it would be nearly impossible to touch them.

“Hey, Optimus, check this out.” Jack interrupted his train of thought. He looked over to see the teen pointing at a tree in the near distance, though upon further inspection it was clear that he wanted Optimus to see the bird perched on one of its strong branches. It cawed out loudly, flapping its wings to resettle.

It was a beautiful bird, Optimus thought, noting its striking burnt orange tail. He racked his memory for the name of this bird, this hawk more specifically.

“I believe this one is called a red-tailed hawk.” He responded with a small smile, watching Miko take pictures on her phone. “Though, it seems to be a bit of a misnomer, because I have never seen one with a truly red tail.

“Seems pretty red to me.” Miko hummed out her observation. 

“You’ve seen lots of them?” Raf asked Optimus with wide eyes, flapping his hand a little. 

“Of course, I frequently come out to this part of this landmass. This is where many of them live.” Optimus explained. “I haven’t seen many of them in Jasper.”

“Yeah, they don’t live out there.” Raf sighed. “Unless the zoo counts.”

“I understand.”

Optimus and the children continued on, talking about the various animals Optimus had run into—polar bears and penguins, tigers and elephants, and his favorite—the moose. 

“I hope we’ll see a moose.” Miko said to Optimus. “I heard they’re so big and kinda epic.”

“I believe we are a little too far south to see a moose.” Optimus admitted. “But we will see.”

“Why is that your favorite animal?” Jack asked, more curious than anything else.

“…I’ve never really stopped to think about that.” Optimus admitted. “Do I really need a justification for why?”

“No, not really.” The teen answered back. “People just have different reasons for how they define a favorite animal. Sometimes that’s interesting to hear about.”

“Hm…” Optimus thought hard as they walked. He remained quiet for a few minutes before speaking again. “I suppose I appreciate how protective they are of their offspring.”

“You would say something like that.” Miko snorted a little, delighted in how much of a softie this giant robot was. 

“Well, it's the truth.” Optimus insisted, pausing as he heard the rustle of the bush nearby. His audials slowly turned back, almost apprehensive. The children took note, barely peeking out from the edge of his shoulder as he stood in front of them. 

After a painful minute of rustling, interspersed with yowling, a small bobcat ran from the brush, many quills sticking out from it. Optimus almost went after it, but by the time he registered the quills, it was already gone.

“Poor thing…” He laments, guilty that he couldn't have helped the cat.

“He'll be fine later.” Jack assured Optimus, patting his plating. “He probably won't tangle with whatever got him again.”

“Was it a hedgehog? Do you think a hedgehog is nearby?” Miko asked, very pleased at the thought. “I didn't know there would be hedgehogs here!”

“Hedgehogs don't live here, Miko.” Raf informed, a little disappointed at the fact.

“Another quilled creature does, however.” Optimus turned his head to them and brought his finger to his lips. The children obeyed, quiet and still. Optimus could feel tension build in his frame as he held still, waiting.

A rather frumpy looking creature covered with the same quills that cursed the bobcat emerged from the same bush, making its way to a nearby tree. It sniffed in Optimus and the children's general direction, and then began to scale the tree.

Miko in particular was transfixed, watching as the animal shimmied up the tree, using its tail as almost a fifth limb. She had her phone out to record video, but she found herself…not doing that.

“What a rare sight.” Optimus’ voice curled lightly under his smile. “A North American porcupine. I have heard that most humans who go out of their way looking for one never find one.”

“And we got to see one without even trying.” Jack caught on to what Optimus was implying, a smile on his face.

“It's so cute!” Miko giggled. “I wanna hug it.”

“I wouldn't. Didn't you see what it did to that bobcat?” Raf cringed a tiny bit.

“Right.” She sighed. “That would hurt.”

Optimus couldn't help but allow a chuckle to bark out of the back of his throat. Of all the things he found curious about humanity, the fact that they could look at dangerous animals and want to hug them was rather amusing. 

Though, he questioned how dangerous a porcupine actually was. Perhaps he would have to do more reading later.

So what if Ratchet /died/?

Considering that my Ratchet is currently dying in my thread with Pupu, it suddenly gave me an idea…

Ghost!AU. 

The ghost of the deceased Autobot medic wrecks havoc during the war on Earth. 

Now that Ratchet no longer needs to sleep, he will do anything to help and all kinds of shenanigans occur. 

Random cube of high grade appears next to Optimus or Bumblebee out of thin air.

Some odd text appears on the monitor of the console that turns out to being a hint to where to look for the next relic (or whatever intel they happen to need in that moment).

A wrench appearing from nowhere and smacking Bulkhead directly in the helm.

Wheeljack’s high grade stash is suddenly emptying at an alarming rate and someone pasted Ultra Magnus’ head on every bot in his old issues of the Playbot. 

Smokescreen comes across Ratchet’s own secret stash of porn and just before he’s about to self service to them, the lights go out, the door slams shut and the datapads all mysteriously blow up. (Poor kid’s probably forever traumatized from touching himself again.)

Odd siren noises in the middle of the night for no reason except it’s just a very unhappy and frustrated ghost with nothing to do. 

If OP had hair they’d be turning grey at this point bc of the very graphic lustful dreams he starts having all of a sudden (starring Ratchet, to no-one’s surprise) and OP wakes up every morning with sore chest plates and feeling completely spent, but relaxed. He has never been more eager to go to recharge in time.

Bumblebee is sad and missing Ratchet, when suddenly he feels someone gently hugging him but no-one’s there.

For some odd reason Miko’s guitar or boombox simply refuse to work inside the silo. They work perfectly outside.

Arcee sneaks on the Nemesis and a certain ghost follows. Except he stays and infects their entire datanet like a virus. Soundwave will have a run for his money, because you can’t block a virus that isn’t /data/. Suddenly all their secrets and plans start leaking to the Autobots, and all kinds of weird shenanigans occur. 

Megatron isn’t able to sleep in his quarters because glowing eyes staring at him in the corner. Whenever he does manage to sleep, it’s all nightmares of himself watching Optimus and Ratchet doing the vertical tango

Starscream starts getting anonymous love letters from a secret admirer and it is implied to be either Megatron or Soundwave. Starscream can’t decide which is more horrifying. 

Knockout wakes up every day to a different graffiti decorating his plating. He still hasn’t discovered the one on his aft that says “Let’s Play Doctor”.

Something possesses Raf’s laptop and somehow the government starts receiving detailed up-to-date reports on Decepticon activity and some nicely worded threats to increase Outpost Omega-1′s funding for better equipment and resources.

If it was Ratchet fed up with everyone’s shit when alive, it’s everyone being fed up with Ratchet’s shit now

but it’s not all bad bc Megatron begged to surrender after just a couple of months bc half his crew had tried to offline themselves and Ratchet finally got his revenge

Random TFP headcanons Part 1 (mostly humans)

Raf is deaf in one ear and has a cochlear implant

Jack is transmasc

Miko is ADHD

Miko at one point tried to cut her own hair

Ooohhh! I remember furby's, granted they were a bit creepy in my opinion. These are a bit shorter than what I usually write, I was trying to get most of the characters in. Let me know if these needed more writing in them.

How did this all happen? One word to simplify everything: Miko. She thought it would be funny to start leaving these little menaces around the base and to get the bots reaction to it. How did she acquire these furbies, don’t ask any questions. Jack tried to stop her, but she successfully bribed him by promising to send him the video of Arcee’s reaction. Raf promised to edit the videos to be at their finest. Operation: Furby reaction is a go.

Autobots

Optimus Prime

He notices the first furby as it sits innocently near one of the control panels. At first, he thinks that one of those ‘birds’ had entered the base and tried to move the thing.

“Hello little one. How did you get in here?”--Optimus

“SSSQQQQUAAAAKKKK!”--Furby

“I see… Ratchet did you let the creature inside the base?”--Optimus

“Did I do what now?”--Ratchet

Then it suddenly started moving and squawking its native tongue that may or may not have startled the Prime a bit.

He doesn’t mind the furby too much… but does sense something about it.

Ratchet

He notices when he sees Prime slightly startled by something.

He goes to investigate and nearly squashes the Furby thinking it was a scraplet.

“Ratchet! Do not harm the creature!”--Optimus

“Optimus with all due respect, that thing is definitely some sort of scraplet! It might be a different type of mutation but look at it!”--Ratchet

“Ratchet—”--Optimus

“It even looks evil Optimus! I’m getting my wrenches.”--Ratchet

“Ratchet!”—Optimus

He does not care about Optimus’s code on not killing living being. That thing looked at him weird and he is going to end it before it eventually causes trouble.

Bumblebee

Nearly has a whiplash when he sees the little thing. He also thinks it’s a scraplet at first, but slightly calms down recognizing it as one of those human toys he saw on commercial with Raf.

Everything is fine… until it started screeching and moving by itself.

“SSSSSSSCCCCCRRRREEEEAAACCCHHHH!”--Furby

“BBBBBBBEEEEEEEPPPPPPP! (AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!)—Bumblebee

Does not like furby’s at all. Claims that they were trying to speak to him.

Arcee

Her encounter with the Furby is short.

Mainly because she saw something move out of the corner of her optic and blasted the poor thing to bits.

“Huh? What on Cybertron—”--Arcee

“SCCCCRREEECCH—”—Furby remains

Blaster firing intensifies.

She doesn’t know what that thing was, but it started it.

Bulkhead

He is running to see where Bumblebee is after hearing him screaming. He has his wrecking ball at the ready and ready to comm in back up if necessary.

“BBBBBBBEEEEEEPPPPPP! (AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!)--Bumblebee

“What is it!?”--Bulkhead

“BBBEEEPP BEP BEEEEPPP (THAT THING RIGHT THERE!)--Bumblebee

“SCCRRREEEAAACCHHH!”--Furby

“AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! SCRAPLET! SCRAPLET! SCRAPLET!!!”—Bulkhead

Absolutely loathe those things. It reminds him too much of the scraplet incident that happened. He would be swinging his wrecking ball if it hadn’t gotten stuck in the wall.

Wheeljack

He is running as soon as he hears Bulkhead and Bumblebee screaming. His katanas are out as is ready for some slicing and dicing.

“BEEEEEPP BEEEEPPPP! (PRIMUS ITS MOVING CLOSER!)--Bumblebee

“SCRAPLET! SCRAPLET! SCRAPLET!”--Bulkhead

“Where’s the danger!?”--Wheeljack

“BEEPPP! (ITS MOVING!)--Bumblebee

“SCRREEEECCCHH—”--Furby

“There, its sliced in half. Huh. You two where afraid of this little cute—”--Wheeljack

Blaster firing and wrecking ball smashing intensifies.

Isn’t a huge fan of the little things. It’s a bit cute in a creepy way. Does remind him of scraplets if they had gotten some mold and gained some sort of upper-level sentience.

Smokescreen

Like Arcee, his encounter with the Furby is short.

He accidentally stepped on one effectively crushing it.

“SCCRRE—Crunch!”—Furby

“Hmm? Hmm.” –Smokescreen

He is completely oblivious to the tomfoolery that is happening all over the base. He is too busy with looking at the latest relic they managed to find.

Ultra Magnus

He finds a Furby near his work area. He tries to speak to the Furby as he would to anyone else.

“Excuse me but you are in classified—”—Ultra Magnus

“SSSSCCCRRREEEEEAAAACCHHHH!”--Furby

“That was unnecessary and—”—Ultra Magnus

“SSSSSCCCCRRREEEEAAACCHHH!”--Furby

“Listen to—”—Ultra Magnus

“Ultra Magnus move!”--Ratchet

Furby is hit with 10 wretches in one go.

He doesn’t mind furby’s like Optimus. Mainly because he was trying to communicate with it and never got to finish his sentences with it.

Decpticons

No one knows how it was done, but the impossible was made possible. After Miko finished getting all the Bots’ reaction to the furbies she decided to do something else. Somehow, she managed to scatter the remaining furbies on board the Nemesis. How did she do this. Not even Miko quite knows how she did it.

Megatron

He finds the Furby on his throne. He doesn’t know what this thing is, but it is on his throne, and no one sits on his throne except him.

“You! How dare you sit upon my throne!”--Megatron

“SSSSCCCRRREEEAAACCCH!”—Furby

Blaster firing intensifies.

The furby would be gone whether he is on Dark Energon or not. Will not admit it but the furby noise sent a little shiver down his struts. Good thing no one saw that.

Starscream

He finds the furby in his habsuite. He is curious in how this weird looking organic thing managed to find his room. He takes the furby to the interrogation room.

“Who are you? Speak worthless organic!”--Starscream

“SSSCCCRRREEEEAAACCCCHHH!”--Furby

“How dare you! I am Starscream, Second in Command of the Decepticon Army! You will—”--Starscream

“SSSSSCCCCCRRREEEAAAACCCHHHH!”--Furby

“Two can play it that game!”--Starscream

“SSSSCCCCCRRRREEEAAAACCCHHH!”--Starscream

“SSSSCCCCRRRREEAAAACCCHH!”—Furby

He ends up staying in the room with the furby for a while. Takes the furby to his room and plays on doing a hostage exchange if it is needed.

Soundwave

Finds the furby on his desk. Lazerbeak deploys and flies around the small thing. Steps a bit closer to getting a good look at it.

“…”--Soundwave

“SSSSSCCCRRREEEAAAACCCHHHH!”—Furby

He immediately groundbridges the furby outside the Nemesis to have it fall and burn on reentry. He does however keep the screeching noise recorded and will use it if necessary… or if he is bored.

Knockout and Breakdown

The pair enters the medbay and finds the furby on the medslab.

Breakdown looks at it and thinks it’s kind of cute. Knockout on the other hand.

“OH, PRIMUS KILL IT!”--Knockout

“Knockout?!”--Breakdown

“THAT IS UNICRON’S SPAWN! KILL IT! BURN IT!”--Knockout

Breakdown smashes the furby to oblivion. Did he regret it? No, it was causing Knockout stress, and he was happy to get rid of it for him. Knockout knows the furby’s horrors, he knows…

Dreadwing

His time with the furby is short. He accidentally stepped on it as he was trying to get some creates to his habsuite.

“SSSCCRR—Crush!”--Furby

“What in the All Spark? Hmm…”--Dreadwing

He does wonder what the weird noise was, but he has other things to worry about, so he quickly forgets about the encounter.

Shockwave

He doesn’t know they exist. There were no furbies in the lab or in his habsuite. The two places he really goes to. He does hear from the others about the furbies though.

“They sound illogical.”--Shockwave

“You’re illogical!”—Starscream

He doesn’t care about the furbies, he has science experiments and war crimes to commit.

Predaking

He finds one near his kennel and does not like it. Sure, the Nemesis isn’t the greatest place, but that spot is his!

“You! Vermin! Who are you!”--Predaking

“SSSCCCRRREEE—”—Furby

Fire breathing intensifies.

Does not like the noises and is quick to end the furby.

Arachnid

She finds one randomly walking in the halls screaming. She just stabs it and puts it on her trophy case. She doesn’t have time for anything else. She has Arcee and Megatron to kill.

Well-deserved shuteye for our fearless, gentle leader of the Autobots. Please make sure he gets his rest, heroes!

Tfp botbots au where the kids are botbots.

Miko is a karaoke machine

Jack is a go kart

Raf is one those old 80's computers.

Arcee and bumblebee found them in the scrap yard and decided to take them in. The bots all register them as sparklings causing wonderful shenanigans to ensue.

UPDATE!

Each of the kids have their own abilities to use in combat though each has a potentially deadly drawback.

Miko sports a sonic scream that can level buildings, she needs time to charge it though or else it'll crash her systems. (She modded her microphone so she can use it like a grappling hook.)

Jack has a wrist mounted flame thrower but it runs off his own gasoline so using it leaves him drained of energy. (He also sports a fire extinguisher that sprays from his palm.)

Raf can produce electricity from his hands but just like miko he needs time to charge it up and like jack it severely drains his energy. (Plus a set of built in USB cords and drives stored in his forearm.)

Tfp super power au.

1- super powers are fairly common and as a result a superhero is stationed in every town in order to teach kids how to control there powers and train them as heroes if desired.

2- it's treated more as an after school club/internship thing than anything serious atleast in small towns like jasper.

3- jack, raf, Sierra and Vince are all part of the schools "hero" team, fowler is the retired hero in charge of training them.

4- jack has ice powers which causes him to be constantly cold which is why covers up, his hero name is cold snap.

5- Raf has fire powers which is a family ability though he can't really produce much yet, his hero name is weld.

6- miko has has shadow powers which are both intense and volatile do to being connected to her emotions, she isn't in the hero program but her villain name is black cat.

7- fowler has a danger sense kinda like spidey sense.

8- the hero kids all know who eachother is but none of them know that miko is black cat mostly cause no one knows what her powers are.

9- mikos shadows also allow her to shape-shifting slightly meaning that everyone thinks black cat is an adult.

10- the boys meet bee and arcee during a patrol where they spot them fighting some vehicons and help defeat them. During the next patrol is when they boys get picked up and miko gets involved like in canon except the three of them are all in costume.

11- when op says that the kids are under the team's protection he protests that black cat is a villain and shouldn't be trusted. Miko reveals her identity and hits him for the comment.

12- arcee starts teaching Jack new ways to fight and his performance as a hero seriously increases Thanks to her guidance.

13- bee helps raf figure out ways to creatively utilize his abilities which allows raf to start viewing his abilities as his own fed by ratchet having him help make alot of things which alsl let's them bond even more.

14- bulkhead and miko spar alot and bulkhead slowly manages to get her to go from villain to anti hero though she has a few time were she regresses back to villain on occasion.

15- speaking of miko she doesn't have a proper uniform with armor and stuff like the boys do she made her own costume meaning she gets hurt more than the boys causing ratchet to worry about, and thus lecture her, more.

16- when magnus shows up he takes an interest in training the kids and in mikos case getting her to become a proper hero. He goes about this very militaristicly which stresses miko out and causes her to slip back into villain node for a bit.

17- she goes on a rampage, gets caught by the boys, escapes and almost leaves jasper entirely before being stopped by magnus who was told where to go by bulkhead. They "talk" aka argue really intensely which allows them to finally come to an understanding and start bonding.

18- op tries to mentor all of them to varying results with each kid, miko kinda can't stand him.

19- SKYQUAKE LIVES AND BECOMES MIKOS MENTOR BECAUSE I SAY SO!

20- jack begin to act as leader of the hero team more and more until Vince and him fight over the position and Jack wins.
