In Another Life, I Would Have Really Liked Just Doing Laundry And Taxes With You PARK SUNGHOON

“Congrats, big shot,” a familiar voice says from behind you, and you can hear the teasing smile in his tone, “actress of the year award, you're in the big leagues now.”

You turn around to face Park Sunghoon, a renowned figure skater and your ex-boyfriend. You haven't seen each other in almost a year but the sight of him still has the same effect on you it did all those years ago.

He's hauntingly beautiful and you're a house of horrors.

You offer a polite smile, but it's bittersweet as if you were greeting death itself.

“Congratulations to you too, you're becoming a bit of an A-list yourself since you won the Olympics.” you quip, and you both know what kind of game you're going to play tonight.

It’s the same one you always play, the one where he pretends you didn’t break his heart and you pretend everything is fine.

Sunghoon smiles at you too, like you're everything he's ever had and everything he's ever lost.

“Maybe we should exchange autographs like middle schoolers trade Pokémon cards,” he says, and you both chuckle.

“Hmm, I have a feeling mines will be more valuable.”

He playfully puts a hand over his heart. “That’s hurtful, y/n, but I can’t deny that it’s also true.”

In Another Life, I Would Have Really Liked Just Doing Laundry And Taxes With You PARK SUNGHOON

The gala was still roaring with life when you stepped out for some fresh air, you sat on concrete stairs, not caring if you got your 20,000-dollar dress dirty. You couldn't care about a lot of things lately.

You and Sunghoon had long parted ways, the conversation only lasted about five minutes before you were seated at your respective tables, you didn't see him again after that.

You’ve gotten everything you ever dreamed of at this point in your career, and you accomplished all your goals, in the beginning, it all seemed so impossible, but now that you're here and you've done it, you’re not so sure what's left anymore.

The sound of the door opening catches your attention, a tall, pale figure steps out, dressed in a purely black suit, and you recognize him instantly.

“Following me?” you prop your chin in your palm as your elbow rests on your knee, carrying the weight of your head as you tilt it playfully.

He’s not startled by the suddenness of your voice, which tells you, yes, he was looking for you.

He smiled. “Maybe.”

He sat next to you on the stairs, not caring if his 5,000-dollar suit got dirty, though it wasn't actually because he didn't care about the suit, but because he just wanted to be close to you.

You're both silent for a while, simply appreciating being in each other's presence after so long.

Or maybe it's because you don't know what to say and he has too much to say, so you settle for the piercing silence of unsaid words.

Sunghoon has been silent his whole life, but he promised himself tonight he wouldn't be.

“Was it worth it?”

Ah. There it is.

You think as the corners of your lips curl upward, you knew this question was coming, you sensed it the moment you saw him again.

If he had asked you that a year ago you would’ve said yes, no hesitation, no second thoughts, just a straight-up yes, and you would have meant it too.

Suddenly the silk fabric of your dress starts to itch your skin, your diamond embroidered heels start to hurt your feet, and your pearl jewelry feels too heavy.

In only a single minute, Park Sunghoon has stripped you of your persona, called you out for the fraud you are, and seen the real you.

And he accepted you.

You lie to save your pride, it's a habit of yours that he knows all too well.

He doesn't think you're perfect, but you would never have to be for him to love you.

“Sometimes,” you say.

You don't bother lying, he’ll know.

You had always been a good liar until Sunghoon came into your life.

He gently nods in understanding at your response, “Do you ever think about it? About us?”

With a chuckle, you reply, “Of course I do.”

It's true that sometimes leaving him is worth the life you're living now, but there are fragments of times when you imagine what your life could've been with him.

In another life, you never left Sunghoon, you got married, bought a home together, adopted a dog, and had a child.

On the surface that sounds nice, but in another life, you are a housewife with broken dreams, you bought a home together but it wasn't the one you always dreamed of because you had to compromise with Sunghoon, you adopted a dog but you were never really an animal person, and you had a child but motherhood was never for you.

In another life, you are happy to be a housewife, you and Sunghoon bought your dream home together, you adopted a dog that you both love, you had a child and you are the most loving mother.

In another life, you are not a housewife, you and Sunghoon bought a home even better than your dream home, you adopted a dog but you're more of a cat person, and you never had a child but you always wanted to be a mother.

In another life, you and Sunghoon work from home, you bought a decent home together, and although it's not your dream one, it's good enough, you adopted a cat, and you never had a child but because that's the way you liked things.

In another life, you and Sunghoon are divorced, the home you bought together is just walls and a roof with painful memories, you don't adopt any pets, and you never had a child.

In another life, Sunghoon is a househusband, you don't care about having a dream home because any place is home with him, you adopted a dog and a cat, and you had a child who has everything they could ever want.

In another life, you and Sunghoon are teenagers again falling in love for the very first time, and you have no idea what the future holds for you.

In another life, you and Sunghoon are just a little bit younger than you are now, in the kitchen of your shared apartment, and you are trying to figure out how to do laundry so all your clothes don’t turn blue again and how to properly calculate your taxes so you don’t go to prison for tax fraud.

In another life, you and Sunghoon have grown old together, and you are experts at doing laundry and taxes.

In another life, you are the bottles of salt and pepper on the table of a random diner and things are entirely less complicated.

In another life, you never meet Park Sunghoon.

The possibilities are endless, and the truth is, you never know what will happen in your life, and that's scary, but you hope in another life you learn to accept the bad just as easily as you accept the good.

“What does it look like?” he asks.

“Laundry and taxes,” you shrug.

You both laugh at that.

“What about you?” you ask.

“Taxes and laundry,” he smiles.

You both laugh again.

The party inside is completely forgotten about as you and Sunghoon spend what feels like hours just sitting and talking, until the realization that it’s time to go home dawns on you.

Sunghoon gets up first, holding his hand out for you to take, and you do, but when he helps you to your feet he doesn't let go just yet, instead, he looks into your eyes and you feel his thumb caress your knuckles.

“It was nice to see you again, y/n.”

“It was good to see you again too, Sunghoon.”

He finally lets you go and you already miss his warmth.

He almost walks away but turns to face you one last time.

With a hint of a smile on his lips, he says, “You know, in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.”

And then Park Sunghoon walks out of your life forever, and you let him.

In another life, things didn't end that way.

Angst, slight fluff

The way that the members are depicted in this story has nothing to do with how they really are or how I feel they are. It is all solely for the storyline so please bear that in mind 🫶

I would also like to add that I know literally nothing about rugby 😁

Summary: Sunghoon was notorious for being cold-hearted to everyone and he’s aware of how many girls at school are dying to melt his frozen heart. Surely nothing would change once Sunoo introduces his friend to the boys

Heeseung is in his final year, 02z are in their 3rd year, Sunoo & Y/N are in their 2nd, and Jungwon & Niki are in their 1st

F/N = female name

Warnings: cursing, slight violence, name calling, gaslighting (please let me know if I need to add any more 🤍)

It was just like any other day at Hybe Academy and the 7 boys known as Enhypen were making their way to their lectures. The high-pitched squeals of girls asking how their day was or if they were free to “hang out” was nothing new to them.

Don’t get it wrong though. They never asked for all of this attention but being the top players of the school’s rugby team, they were bound to attract the eyes of the girls, as well as the odd few envious eyes from the guys.

The 7 boys were a tight knit group ever since they were little. Their parents were great friends and wanted their children to all get along just like they did. Heeseung being the oldest, was extremely protective of all of them and provided them with an older brother figure to guide them through everything. And once the youngest of the group Niki was born, they finally felt that they were complete.

They have been inseparable since day one and nothing was going to change that. Yes the odd few girlfriends would come and go but they never lasted more than a few weeks. But it didn’t matter to them when it came to relationships because at the end of the day, they would always have each other.

Out of all of them, Sunghoon was by far the coldest one. Of course he wasn’t like that around his friends but once the popularity started to build up, so did his walls. You see, Sunghoon was naturally introverted and any hated attention on him. It made him feel so crowded as if he was some kind of show animal.

His mysterious personality paired with his god-like visuals only pushed for girls to want to win his heart over. And trust me, they were persistent. Especially the captain of the cheerleading team F/N who just so happened to be in the same year as the 02s.

Every rugby practice would end with F/N clinging onto his arm and asking if he wanted to join her for whatever party was going on that week. Of course Sunghoon would decline every time with a scowl on his face as he could see through her act.

F/N was a pretty girl but she had been trying to weave her way into the group for ages. Was it for popularity? Was it just to brag? Who knows? And who cares? Certainly not them.

F/N had already tried to suck up to Jay and Jake but there was no going through them. So she went to her final target because why not kill two birds with one stone? She could be apart of their group AND say she was the girlfriend of the ice prince. Nothing was going to stop her and no one would dare to.

Time skip

It was finally time for lunch and everyone slowly started to filter into the cafeteria. At the moment the boys, apart from Sunoo, were sat at their designated table having a catch up on their day and planning on who’s house they were going to hang out at after school.

“Has anyone seen Sunoo hyung?” Jungwon asked.

“He’s probably busy in the library or something. He did mention that there was a partner project coming up so he’s probably sorting that out.” Jay responded

“Hey Sunoo hyung!!!”

The whole cafeteria quickly turned to their table after Niki shouted across to his friend.

Heeseung chuckled “Talk about a grand entrance or what”

Sunoo walked over with his head down after feeling embarrassed by the youngest member. “Could’ve been more obvious you know Niki”

“Sorry hyung. I was just so scared that you weren’t in our presence and just felt so relieved that you’re alive!” Niki exclaimed with a hand on his heart

With a roll of his eyes at Niki’s dramatic answer, Sunoo explained “I was just having a conversation with Y/N. We’ve been partnered up together for this project and had to sort out when we could meet up.”

Niki’s eyes widened “Y/N?! She was the one that helped me and Jungwon hyung find a lecture hall in our first week. You should bring her here when you meet up Sunoo hyung. She was so nice and I never got to properly thank her”

At this Sunghoon, who had peacefully been savouring his tiramisu, couldn’t help but scoff at what Niki said.

“Really Niki? She’s probably just like every other girl just trying to get our attention. She probably knew that you two were close to us and put up a cute act to make it seem like she’s doing it out of the kindness of her heart.”

His comment caused a sudden feeling of overprotectiveness to come up in Sunoo.

“Yah don’t talk about her like that! Y/N is the most genuine person ever and we’re great friends actually. She’s been helping me a lot since we started here but I never brought her up because I knew you’d react like this”

The members were startled at Sunoo’s outburst as it was the first time he had raised his voice in a serious matter.

Before anything could escalate, Jake stepped in to mediate the conversation and turned to Sunoo “Look, I’m sure Sunghoon didn’t mean to insult your friend like that. You know that he can just say things that sound harsher than he intended”

“But that doesn’t excuse anything. None of you have even properly met her and you jump to conclusions about anyone who shows an act of kindness”

Sunghoon spoke up again “I’m sorry Sunoo. I know we can be harsh when it comes to letting new people in but we’ve been fucked over way too many times and I don’t want you to end up getting hurt again”

Sunoo understood where he was coming from. Throughout his life, people had taken advantage of his kindness and used him as a stepping stone to gain the attention of his older friends. But he knew you were different. You never once diverted the topic of the conversation to his friends or remotely showed any sort of interest in getting to know them.

“I get that but I’m telling you that Y/N is not like everyone else. I know it’s what everyone says but I’m being serious about this”

Heeseung spoke up and said “You know what, maybe we shouldn’t be so stuck up and let Y/N sit with us next time. She seems to be someone that you trust a lot Sunoo so there’s no harm in her sticking with you”

Both Sunoo and Niki cheered at their hyung and happily carried on eating their lunch. But Sunghoon still couldn’t help but feel slightly wary about you.

The next day

Y/N’s POV:

“Hey Y/N!”

I turned around with a smile on my face and was met with Sunoo making his way towards me. Sunoo and I became very close since first term where he turned up late to a lecture and took the empty space next to me. His bright smile and bubbly personality always made my day better and it turned out that we had similar interests.

One of our favourite things to do together was to rant about the unbearable cheerleading captain from the year above. Her fake, high pitched voice pierced through our ears every time she found an attractive guy come within her vicinity.

“Omg Sunooo! Where is Hoonie?!? I’ve been looking all over for him and he’s no where to be found! I’m planning for my birthday party in a month and I need him so we can match our outfits” F/N shrieked as she grabbed onto him whilst completely ignoring my presence.

“For fuck sake F/N. First of all, don’t call Sunghoon hyung Hoonie, it’s disgusting and he hates it. Second of all, when will you take the hint that he wants nothing to do with you?” Sunoo snapped back

“Well for your information, Hoonie is just playing hard to get. I know likes the thrill of having the most gorgeous girl of this school chasing after him but he knows at the end of the day, we’re perfect for each other.”

I don’t think I’ve ever had a stronger urge to throw up after hearing her cringy words. I could tell that Sunoo was having none of it from his side eye directed towards F/N. Seeing the obvious look of disgust, I couldn’t help but slightly chuckle at him. Only then did F/N finally acknowledge me with a glare.

“What are you laughing at? You’re just one of those sad losers that try so desperately for any guy to even look in your direction. That’s probably why you stick around with Sunoo isn’t it? You just want to be one of us so bad don’t you” F/N got in my face and started taunting me.

Sunoo was ready to go and roast her like a turkey on Thanksgiving but I quickly responded “One of you? From what it seems F/N, you seem to paint the perfect description of yourself. You know, the desperate puppy chasing her precious Hoonie who wants nothing more than to send you off to a shelter. But I can see that you’re not the brightest and can’t comprehend logic very well so let me spell it out for you. I want absolutely nothing to do with you or Sunoo’s friends. I stick with Sunoo because I care about him and we get along well. Obviously you wouldn’t understand that concept since the people that leech onto you are just your minions that use you to their advantage with the cheer team.”

I could sense Sunoo silently hyping me up from behind, but what can I say? He taught me well.

F/N’s face turned red and she screamed back “HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT YOU BITCH! You’re just jealous of me aren’t you? You’re salty that you thought you could be the cheerleading captain but you’re just shit and excused it as you having an injury! You can’t handle the fact that I have everything you dream of”

“You really think that I’m jealous of you being captain of the cheerleading team? Well I hate to break it to you F/N but I have a life outside of cheer and have moved on. I have people around me that actually care about me but what do you have? Just an obsession with someone who won’t spare you a glance I guess.”

The built up rage in F/N made her raise her hand to slap me but I grabbed her wrist

“Look F/N I don’t want to deal with you ok. You always find a way to get in my face about the most ridiculous shit but I’m sick of it now. I’m not dealing with your bullshit any more”

*School bell rings*

“I’m not finished with you Y/N. You better watch yourself before you regret it” F/N spat as she snatched her wrist away and stormed off.

Other students in the hallway started mumbling about what just happened but I couldn’t care less about what they had to say.

I turned to Sunoo and said sarcastically “Oh so scary! Shiver me timbers 😱”

We both laughed with each other and got ready for our lecture

Time skip

“Hey Y/N, we should probably get started on our project. Why don’t you sit with me and the boys for lunch since I have practice after school?”

“I’m not sure Sunoo. I don’t want to interfere with you guys and after everything that happened this morning with F/N, I’m not exactly interested in having her coming over and causing another scene.”

“No Y/Nie! I swear it will be ok for you to sit with us! They said they don’t mind you eating lunch with us. That’s if you’re comfortable with it though”

“Wait you told them about me?”

“Yeah! They know we’ve been partnered for the project so they won’t bombard you with questions. Also Niki and Jungwon really want to talk to you since you helped them during their first week here.”

Oh I remember those cuties. They were walking around in circles and bickering about which direction to go to in the maths department.

“Ah Niki and Jungwon? I’d love to catch up with them! They’re so cute!”

“But I’m cuter though”

“Of course you are Sunoo”

At the cafeteria

The students looked at me and Sunoo in shock as we both made our way to the boys’ table. I didn’t look at anyone since I knew that I would just be met with envious eyes

What is Y/N doing with them?

I bet she’s just trying to get with one of them

Didn’t she just accuse F/N of doing exactly what she’s doing right now

Well isn’t this fun? I’ve stayed out of drama for my entire time I’ve been here and all of a sudden I’m the centre of the gossip.

“Don’t listen to them Y/Nie. If you want I can roast the shit out of them?” Sunoo whispered

I laughed at his overprotectiveness and responded “It’s ok they’re just finding any way to get some gossip”

We got to the table and Sunoo introduced me to everyone. I was met with charming smiles from everyone. Well, except one.

“Hi Y/N! It’s nice to finally meet you. Sunoo has told us a lot about you” Jay said politely

“Ah hope there was nothing bad” I responded nervously

Jake laughed “No of course not. He’s been going on about how amazing you are and we also heard that you’ve already met Jungwon and Niki”

“Hi noona!” The two younger boys greeted

We all fell into a comfortable conversation as we got to know each other but I could see Sunghoon sitting quietly, sending me the odd glare every now and then.

Heeseung saw as well and spoke up “Sunghoon are you ok? Why don’t you get to know Y/N as well?”

All Sunghoon did was scoff and mumble “Nah I’m good” before getting up abruptly and leaving the cafeteria.

There was a lingering awkward silence before Sunoo reassured me “Don’t mind him Y/Nie. Sunghoon hyung just has a hard time warming up to new people, that’s all.”

I gave him a small smile and thankfully we all carried on our conversation and steered off the awkward moment that just happened.

Time skip

As it turns out, the boys are the sweetest people ever minus Sunghoon and we’ve been hanging out almost every day since. They called me their little sister (ofc older sister for the younger ones but still little in terms of height 😤) and it really did feel like I had a bunch of protective brothers with me.

I’ve been trying to get to know Sunghoon as well, especially since I feel guilty of just turning up in the group out of no where. But I still wanted to respect his boundaries so I never pushed. When I did have the chance to speak to him, they all felt very one-sided on my part as he only responded with short answers before leaving.

For the past few weeks, everyone has been stressing as we all had exams coming up which contributed to 50% of our grade for the year. The older ones were practically living in the library with barely any time to sleep or eat. I knew they felt the most pressure since they were in their final years and the grades that they got now had an impact on if they could graduate or not.

Even though I have exams coming up too, I’ve been a bit more chill since they weren’t as intense. So during my free time at home, I’ve been making lunch for the boys since there’s no way of getting them away from studying if it’s not rugby practice. It’s not much but at least they’re not starving.

I woke up extra early today to make them all some lunch and packed it ready so I could go to the convenient store on the way to school and buy extra snacks.

At the convenient store

I picked out a load of snacks and ramen so the boys could have a bit of energy during their study time. It was mostly just some generic snacks but I still made sure to pick out everything mint choco flavour for Sunoo (aka my favourite person). In the dessert aisle I saw tiramisu and remembered that Sunghoon would eat it for almost every lunch. Hopefully he won’t think I’m some creep 😬 He had still been distant but it was better than him storming away from me every time he sees me.

Time skip to school

Just as the school bell rang, Sunoo and I packed up my things and I quickly brought out his snacks so he could eat some on the way to the library.

“Ah thank you Y/Nie! I actually got you some of your favourite snacks since you’ve been feeding us all so well the past few days”

“Sunoo you didn’t have to thank you so much! This is why you’re my favourite” I smiled at him as we traded snacks

“Of course I am” Sunoo said smugly and flipped his hair before we laughed and went to meet with the others

At the library

The boys greeted the two of us as we arrived and I started handing out the food that I made and snacks. Their faces lit up at the sight of food and they were quick to thank me for it.

As I got around to Sunghoon, I handed him the tiramisu and the boys started to tease him with Niki asking why he got special treatment.

Sunghoon rolled his eyes but I could see a small smile as he thanked me and started to eat.

We spent a few hours studying and every so often we’d have a small break. I felt thirsty so I decided to refill my drink

“Hey Sunoo I’m just going to quickly go to the water fountain, make sure Niki doesn’t try to break my laptop pleaseee”

“Haha of course I can”

The corridors were basically empty at this point so I didn’t have to worry about there being a queue for the water fountain. There were the odd few students who sent me a smile but other than that, it was a quick trip.

Just as I finished filling my bottle, I could hear faint footsteps but I didn’t think anything of it.

“Hey Y/N. Can I quickly talk to you?”

I turned around and there was Sunghoon standing awkwardly and avoiding eye contact with me.

“Sure, is everything alright?”

“Yeah. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to get food for us”

I was shocked at what he said. Not because he was thanking me, but because he came to talk to me first.

“No worries Sunghoon! I know you guys are stressed and you need to look after yourselves so this was the least I could do” I responded with a bright smile

And if I wasn’t shocked enough, he sent back a shy smile to me. Maybe he doesn’t hate me that much then…

We both made our way back and the rest of the guys were having a small conversation

“Hey Y/N you should come and watch us practice tomorrow” Jake suggested

“Really? I mean I guess it would be nice to see”

“Yeah! I’m gonna show noona that I’m the best player” Niki bragged and the rest of the boys started to playfully argue with each other that they were the best.

At rugby practice

The boys were warming up as I went to find a seat with the best view of them. Unfortunately for me though, I also had a view of the cheer team practicing by the field. The sight of F/N and her minions alone was enough to ruin my mood

Just then, the boys started their practice game and my attention was quickly turned to them. Seeing how well they worked together was truly amazing and it was no wonder why they were the top players in the school.

As I carried on watching them, my eyes couldn’t help but land on Sunghoon every so often. And to my surprise he started to look back at me as well and we’d hold eye contact till I’d try to divert my attention.

Their coach told them to take a break and the boys made their way over to me, where their water was. I told them how well they did and they all smiled and thanked me before jogging back onto the field. But Sunghoon stayed back a bit longer and I could see the gears turning in his head

“Do you think I did well?” He asked

I could feel the blush creeping up my cheeks as I answered him “You did amazing Sunghoon!”

He flashed the brightest smile and I thought at that moment my heart had stopped.

I was so distracted by the beautiful sight in front of me that I couldn’t feel the burning glare aimed towards me from across the field.

The next day

I could barely sleep last night. I still felt giddy about the small interaction with Sunghoon during practice yesterday. But I felt energised at the thought of seeing him again.

Wait what am I thinking?!?

No there’s no way

Do I have a crush on Sunghoon?

I mean if I do, is there anything wrong with that?

All these thoughts clouded my mind at the thought of me liking Sunghoon. But if I say anything or act on it, he might take it the wrong way. Especially since it’s taken time for me to try and build a friendship with him. Maybe I’ll just carry on as usual and not rush things. Then I can make sure that these feelings are genuine and not spontaneous.

At school

The rugby team had a meeting before lunch about their next big game that will take place a few weeks after exams are over. So I was by myself, waiting for Sunoo in the corridor when all of a sudden, I hear this agitating, grating voice (iykyk 😂)

“Oi Y/N”

I really didn’t want to bother engaging with the owner of the voice so I tried blocking her out and walking away

“Hey don’t ignore me you bitch. I need to have a word with you.”

I rolled my eyes and turned towards her

“What do you want F/N?”

“I don’t know who the hell you think you are but you better stay away from my Hoonie. He belongs to me and he doesn’t need to be constantly cornered by a desperate rat.”

“What makes you think he’s yours? Sunghoon and I are clearly just friends and we can actually have conversations together because unlike you, I treat him like a person, not some trophy to be won and shown off for my own pleasure.”

F/N laughed with pity as she snapped back “Really? You guys are friends? Come on Y/N. I know you don’t have any friends of your own which is why you stay with Sunoo all of the time. But I can see through your act. You like Sunghoon don’t you? I could tell from the way you looked like a lovesick puppy yesterday but guess what? He will never like you back because he’s way out of your league and he knows it. Think about it. Why do you think he warmed up to you so quick when you guys barely talked? He doesn’t care about you. He’s playing with you so he can have a bit of entertainment and you were just gullible enough to play into his game. So give up. He’s had his fun messing with you now and it’s time that him and I make our relationship official.”

Her words pierced through me like a knife but I wasn’t going to let her think that she could hurt me.

“Oh give me a break F/N I already said that Sunghoon and I were friends so why does it bother you so much? Is it because he at least looks at me? If you’ve been waiting so long to make your relationship ‘official’ then why hasn’t it happened yet? Just because Sunghoon hasn’t as much as spared you a glance, doesn’t mean you should take your insecurities out onto me.”

Before she could respond, I stormed off and I felt the stinging tears starting to fall. I knew that she said all of those things to purposely hurt me a try to make me back off from the boys. But she doesn’t mean shit to me and there is no way I would take that bitch’s word over theirs.

Time skip

I had finally calmed down before I got ready to meet the boys in the library. Sunoo had called me during lunch to tell me that their coach had bought the team food so I wasn’t able to see them then. The thought of seeing them made me feel slightly better and almost made me forget what F/N had said before.

When I entered the library, I saw everyone but Sunghoon with their work out and their heads down in concentration. I put on the brightest smile I could muster greeted them all, which they returned and started to hand out all of their food.

I looked up from my bag and saw Sunghoon standing stoically as it looked like he paused on his way over. I flashed him a smile, ready to show him the food I had made him but he rolled his eyes and walked away.

Sunoo was the only person that witnessed the encounter and he angrily spat “What the fuck crawled between his ass cheeks?”

I was absolutely stunned by what just happened but I still said “I don’t know but I’ll go talk to him.”

“Do you want me to go with you?” Sunoo asked

“No don’t worry. You guys carry on with what you’re doing” I gave them a quick smile before running out.

“Hey! Sunghoon is everything alright? I’ve bought you some f-”

“Stop Y/N! Why won’t you just leave me alone?” Sunghoon turned to me with a cold look on his face

“I-I’m sorry Sunghoon. I thought you’d be hungry after studying and just wanted to make sure you’re ok” I was at a loss for words with the way he was acting. Tears began to form in my eyes as he stared at me with burning hatred. Did he figure out that I might have feelings for him?

“You know I really thought you were going to be different from the rest of them. And seeing how much Sunoo adored you, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt because maybe, just maybe, you were someone we could trust. But I can see it now and I was too blind before. You’re no different to them. You’re just as desperate to try and get in between my brothers and I. And for what? For some dick? I should’ve trusted my instincts from the start but now I see how pathetic you are, thinking you could buy our friendship and try to get in our pants. It’s actually quite funny how ridiculous you are”

I could not believe the words that I was hearing. Did he really see me like this? F/N was really telling me the truth and now I look like a complete fool.

Without thinking, I slapped him across the face. The rage built up inside me after hearing his vile words and my tears started pouring down

“How fucking dare you Park Sunghoon. I did nothing to try and interfere with you and your friends. I decided to be nice to you all and make an effort because Sunoo wanted me to sit at your table. Not once before that did I ever give a flying fuck about you and your friends but seeing how nice the others were, I thought it would be worth the effort for Sunoo’s sake. I truly and deeply care about each and every one about you. Do you really think I’d put in all of this effort trying to get to know you all and wake up early to make sure you guys are fed if my goal was to just sleep with you? That is absolutely disgusting and I refuse to let anyone, especially you talk down to me like that. Before this all happened, we didn’t know shit about each other and now you think I would all of a sudden try to gain your attention now? Well I’m sorry your majesty but you need to pull that stick out of your ass and come back to Earth because surprise surprise, not everyone in this school just wants to fuck you.”

At this point I didn’t care if people were staring at me having a go at him with tears streaming down my face.

“You know, I really thought there was someone sweet under the hard facade you put up but it turns out that you really are just a cold, stuck up bastard. I can’t believe that I thought that I was starting to fall for you. But thank you for waking me from that ridiculous fantasy. Goodbye Sunghoon”

Third person’s POV

Sunghoon was left absolutely speechless the whole time as you walked away. He so desperately wanted to grab you and ask what you meant but he remained still. He really fucked this up didn’t he? He thought he was doing the right thing to protect him and his brothers but seeing how genuinely hurt you were, it was clear that he got the wrong end of the stick. How will he explain to his friends what happened, especially Sunoo.

Wait you liked him? Ah shit. All Sunghoon could think about these days was your adorable smile. The way you remembered the small details about everyone and their favourite things. How you looked at him with the softest eyes during rugby practice. He wanted to let you know how he didn’t mean what he said and that in reality, he fell for you too. But it’s too late and now you hate him.

Well done Sunghoon. You just pushed away another person who really cared for you…

Author’s note: So how are we feeling? 😅 maybe we need a part 2? 🤔😏

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my work I really appreciate it and I hope you enjoyed it

I would also like to reiterate that the way the members (especially Sunghoon) are shown in this fic has no correlation to how they really are or the way they come across to me. I love them all so much 🩵

Fluff, angst

The way that the members are depicted in this story has nothing to do with how they really are or how I feel they are. It is all solely for the storyline so please bear that in mind 🫶

Summary: After realising how wrong he had been about your intentions, Sunghoon had been trying so hard to get you alone to have a talk and make it up to you. But the difficulty in expressing his feelings into words made things a bit more difficult

F/N = female name

*Flashback*

The boys had just finished their team meet up during lunch but Sunghoon took his time in the shower whilst the rest of the boys rushed to the library to find a nice booth. As he exited the changing rooms, he was instantly met with an irritating voice

“Hoonie! There you are!” F/N’s squeal rang through the whole corridor, causing Sunghoon to roll his eyes as he turned towards her.

“What do you want F/N? I’ve told you to stop calling me that stupid name” his face was so cold towards her that it shocked the other students when F/N carried on with her antics

“Don’t he silly Hoonie it’s so cute. I was just wondering if you’re free anytime soon to go clothes shopping with me for my birthday party?”

“Look F/N, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. I’m not interested. Leave me alone and go bother someone else” he snapped

“What’s wrong with you Hoonie? Is it that skank Y/N? She’s fucked with your mind so she can have you all to yourself hasn’t she?” Her eyes narrowed as the harsh words spilled out of her mouth

Sunghoon didn’t know why but the way F/N spoke about you really pissed him off. The thought of anyone calling you such disgusting names caused him to clench his fists

“Don’t you even dare call Y/N that. She’s nothing like you so don’t try and drag her down to your level” he didn’t know what came over him as he came to your defence. He usually would give a shit, never mind speak up when anyone talked about someone who wasn’t his family or group of friends

F/N’s eyes widened and the students around them gasped at his outburst. This was the first time they had seen Sunghoon show any sort of reaction to anything

“Oh my god. You like her don’t you?” F/N scoffed

Sunghoon couldn’t think of anything to say to her. Did he like you? Your smile was enough to brighten his dull day. The way you took the time to cook for him and his friends and even spend more money to make sure that they were fed properly gave him butterflies. And after seeing you look so adorable whilst watching him at rugby practice made his heart race more than it already was from running.

F/N took his silence as confirmation and couldn’t stand it

“Well just so you know, Y/N is a two-faced bitch. I overheard her talking to someone in her class saying that she wanted to gain your attention by being all nice and sweet to you and your friends so that she could sleep with you. And the other day when I went to ask Sunoo where you were, she was so horrible to me and even raised her hand to slap me. She was so crazy that even Sunoo had to step in to stop her but she said that I was just trying to steal you away from her.” She took a breath dramatically before carrying on

“I know I should’ve told you before but I didn’t want to hurt your feelings. However you deserve to know the truth. The other day, she was asking Sunoo so many questions about what you liked and your ideal type. But then she threatened Sunoo to not tell you about what happened when he refused to say anything. He’s too scared to burn his bridges with her since her parents have connections to the school and could easily make his life hell. So he does all of this for her so that she won’t ruin his future. I care about you. And your friends. I’m here for you Hoonie”

She reach up to cup his face but he flinched back

“I need time to think” he mumbled before turning to make his way to the library

*Present*

The next day at lunch felt extremely intense. Sunghoon had confessed to the boys about him snapping at you and explained how F/N’s words had fucked with his mind to the point where he just spewed a load of a load of bullshit to take it out on you. The boys couldn’t come up with the words to say as he was explaining everything. His eyes were downcast as he could feel the burning glare from Sunoo piercing through his skull

“You shouldn’t be explaining this to us. Tell it to Y/N and apologise for not only talking to her that way, but for breaking her heart. She never mentioned anything about liking you but I could tell that she did. And I know you like her too. So how could you be so stupid for believing that bitch F/N when you know her history of trying to suck up to you? Did you really think that Y/N was capable to be so heartless and threaten me? I’ve told you from the start about how much we care about each other and in all honesty, I’m hurt that you also believed F/N’s words over mine” Sunoo couldn’t hold back his tears before getting up and leaving the table to find you

“Sunoo I’m s-” Sunghoon’s words were cut off as Heeseung’s hand patted his shoulder

“Hey just let him cool off ok. I’m sure that once you’ve all gathered your thoughts, you can have a talk with him and Y/N and things can get better” Heeseung’s comforting words caused him to break down and bring his hands to his face

“What do I do hyung? I fucked up so badly and I don’t know how to make it up to Y/N” he sobbed

The boys felt so bad for their crying friend as they knew how hard it was for him to express his emotions. So seeing him break down like this in the cafeteria showed them just how guilty he was.

“Don’t worry Sunghoon hyung. We’re here for you all and we promise we’ll help you through it all”

Sunghoon sniffled and brushed his tears away “I really appreciate it Jungwonnie”

He was going to make it up to you. He needed to.

The next day

It was so hard for you to avoid the boys yesterday but you were scared that Sunghoon had told them all of the lies that he had accused you of and no longer wanted to be around you. Your heart ached seeing them in the cafeteria together so you quickly left and ate your lunch outside on your own. You were scared to think that Sunoo may have believed that you were using him but that thought was quickly diminished when he ran up to you with tears streaming down his face. You told him about F/N confronting you and he asked why you didn’t come to him for back up and that he would’ve been there when you needed him.

It was safe to say that the two of you were bawling your eyes out and as a result, you both came into class today with puffy eyes. You guys did have a bit of a laugh after seeing each other’s swollen faces so that was at least something that brightened your day a bit

“Um Y/Nie, I know things are a bit weird at the moment but do you think you’ll sit with us at lunch today? We all missed you and the whole vibe was miserable” he pouted, puffing his cheeks out slightly

You couldn’t resist yourself and poked his cheeks before sighing “I don’t know Sunoo. I think I still need some time away. This isn’t me trying to end my friendship with the boys because I’d never do that, but it would be wrong for me to stay around and make it feel like you guys had to choose a side. I’ll just go to my usual spot so if you ever want to join me, then feel free to do so”

He gave you a pitiful smile at your words. Seeing you so upset and feeling like you’re at fault shattered his heart. But he knew not to push anything and that you needed time

“I understand Y/Nie. But I’ll still come to eat with you though. You don’t chew with your mouth open so I’ll be able to eat in peace and quiet”

You laughed at his words, feeling thankful that he still stuck by you and put a smile on your face

A week later

The breeze felt so refreshing as it brushed through your hair. Being outside in the sun made you feel so relaxed and you really needed it.

Your exams were coming up soon and because you had been pulling all nighters to fit in more studying, you had been forgetting to bring lunch. There was barely enough time for you to run out of the house with breakfast so making lunch at this point was a luxury

You had finally gotten back to talking to the boys (except for one obvious person) and it was like nothing changed. Well, except for the fact that you didn’t eat lunch with them anymore. It was nice to have your breaks outside so it wasn’t like you were complaining. You just missed having fun with them during lunch

Fortunately, the boys acted like nothing changed and didn’t make things awkward. It made you feel better that you hadn’t caused a rift between the boys, especially between Sunoo and Sunghoon. Sunoo was definitely still upset but he hardly brought it up so that you wouldn’t get upset.

Since you didn’t have any lunch or money on you, you resorted to having a little sketch in your notebook. You were completely immersed in your sketching that you didn’t hear the footsteps approaching you.

The person coughed slightly to gain your attention and when you looked up, you were met with a shy looking Sunghoon. His eyes kept on flickering between the floor and your eyes before he reached out to you, holding your favourite sandwich.

“Um. I noticed that you didn’t turn up to lunch and Sunoo told me where you were. I saw you didn’t have any food so I got you this” he mumbled while avoiding eye contact with you

Shocked was one way to describe how you were feeling. His change of demeanour was giving you whiplash and you didn’t know how to react. Did he think that this was a way to get you to move on from what happened the last time you spoke?

You looked at the sandwich in his hands before scoffing “What is this about Sunghoon? Are you really going to act like the last time we spoke, you didn’t accuse me of using your friends and called me a slut? Do I look like I have the word ‘idiot’ written on my forehead?”

“No! No I swear that’s not my intention! Look, I am an absolute idiot for what I did and there’s nothing that can take back what I said. If I could, I really would. I do not deserve your forgiveness at all, especially after the way I treated you but I cannot express how sorry I am and I had no right to talk to you the way I did. If you don’t want to forgive me, I completely understand but could you please at least eat this to get some energy? I’m really worried about you Y/N and want you to be safe” his hands were practically shaking and he was stumbling over his words.

He had planned how he was going to apologise, but after seeing your beautiful face again after what he felt like ages, it all flew out of the window.

“Sunghoon I don’t know what you’re trying to achieve here. We weren’t friends and we’re not now so I don’t know why you’re so concerned about me. I appreciate you apologising but I just can’t accept this. You really broke me Sunghoon. Please just leave me alone” and with that you stood up and walked away, leaving Sunghoon with the sandwich forgotten in his hands

Over the next few days, you had arrived to your seat in your lectures to be met with cute but messy bento boxes. They’d be filled with your favourite foods and snacks in the shape of cute animals (you think) and a banana milk. You asked Sunoo if he knew anything about it but he just shrugged with a smirk and that was enough to tell you who they had come from. Each box was accompanied by a little note either saying words of encouragement, telling you how sorry he was, how beautiful you were, you name it. But your favourite ones were the notes that had a song recommendation for the day

The songs ranged from sweet apology songs to cute upbeat songs. Today, the song that he chose was ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ by Savage Garden. You smiled and put in your earphones to listen to the song.

The beautiful melody filled your ears with warmth and you closed your eyes. You took the time to really listen to the lyrics and froze. Is this song meant to be him hinting something to you? Was this him trying to confess that he had feelings for you? He never said anything to suggest that he did except for when he’d recommended a song. You didn’t want to overthink it though as you didn’t want it to result in disappointment.

You picked off the note stuck on the bento box to put it in your pocket, which had become a habit now, but you saw that there was another note on the other side reading:

Please meet me in the school gym at lunch when you’ve finished eating pretty girl x

P.S I hope you like the penguins 💕

Please Look At Me

You were contemplating about whether to go or not but he had been taking care of you for the past few days, so you owe him some time.

You told Sunoo that he didn’t need to wait for you and you were transparent about what Sunghoon had wrote. He didn’t seem that shocked so you suspected that he knew what was going on. One thing you must say, Sunghoon’s food always tasted good. They may have looked a bit sloppy at the beginning but each day, they got cuter. You let out a sigh after filling up with the delicious and packed your things up to head to the gym.

When you arrived, you poked your head through the door and saw Sunghoon sitting on a bench, bouncing his legs. At the sound of the gym door opening, his head swung in your direction and he quickly stood up and wiped his sweaty palms on his pants.

“Hey” he said with a nervous smile. It was so cute seeing him like this since you’ve been so used to him being emotionless.

“Hi, so what did you you call me here for?” You didn’t want to sound too harsh despite the things he said to you in the past.

“Well… um… I- I was wondering if you liked the packed lunches I made for you? I know they don’t look that great but I thought they would make you happy” he stuttered as his eyes flicked between you and the ground.

“Yeah I love them, thank you Sunghoon. You really didn’t have to do any of this for me you know?”

“B- but I do though. You took care of me and the guys so I need to return the favour. And you haven’t been looking after yourself so I want you to eat well”

“Well I really appreciate it Sunghoon” you looked at him with a soft smile and Sunghoon felt like his stomach was doing somersaults. It had been a while since he had seen your beautiful smile directed to him. He missed it after only receiving cold stares from you

“I also wanted to let you know that I’m so sorry for everything. You didn’t deserve the way I treated you from the start. Especially that horrible day outside of the library. I need to be completely honest with you Y/N. I have feelings for you and I know it sounds crazy because it’s so soon. But you consume my mind 24/7 and I just feel the need to be around you all of the time. Yes I was stupid for being a complete asshole but after I expressed everything to the guys, it’s made me realise that I like you. More than just a friend. Being away from you was the most pain I’ve ever felt and I just couldn’t comprehend the feelings I had. The way I handled the situation was completely immature of me but I’ve figured out my true feelings. You don’t have to say anything but I just really need you to know that I’ve caught feelings for you and I’m so sorry about disrespecting you out of immaturity” he felt like he couldn’t breathe after he spilt the words out. But the weight of his hidden feelings was finally lifted off his shoulders.

As for you? You were frozen in shock. So it was true that the song he recommended today was to confess to you.

“You like me? Since when? I’m sorry I’m just, my mind’s just frazzled right now” you were still trying to comprehend everything that he said

“Yes I really do like you Y/N. In all honesty, I don’t know when it started. But the more you were around, the more I felt like I could warm up to you. You’re so beautiful and I can’t stop thinking about you. Please believe me when I say that I never would’ve thought about talking to you in such a shit way if F/N never approached me in the first place. I know that sounds like such a pathetic excuse and that’s not me trying to excuse my behaviour. But I didn’t think of you in that way, nor do I do now. The first time meeting you I was hesitant, I do admit, but F/N just brought back horrible memories of people using my friends and hurting them in the past”

“Wait. What does F/N have anything to do with this?” You asked with confusion

From that, Sunghoon explained everything about what F/N had told him. He felt embarrassed that he fell for her lies so easily and he could tell that you were feeling overwhelmed

“I get that I’m stupid for even believing F/N in the first place. You are the first girl who has made me feel genuinely wanted just for being me. Not just because of my looks or popularity. The feeling was so foreign that I had no idea how to process it. There have been girls in the past who lured me into being interested in them, just to use me. So hearing that you were trying to do the same just made me go on the defence immediately to protect myself and my friends again”

You felt pity on the boy as his eyes fell to the ground again. It must’ve been hard for him having to experience people not truly caring about him and not knowing who to actually trust. And he didn’t exactly know you as well as someone like Sunoo would so you didn’t blame him for being conscious about you.

“I’m so sorry that you’ve had to experience than Sunghoon. I really don’t hold anything against you for being hesitant when I started to hang out with you guys. And yes what you did was a proper dickhead move. But in a way, if I was already overwhelmed about my feelings about someone and another person told me that I was being used, I’d probably feel the same. I’m just hurt because F/N came up to me at the start of lunch that day to tell me that you just pitied me and used me for entertainment. So when you then later called me pathetic and a slut, it made me believe that F/N had been telling me the truth. As for me trying to slap her, it was actually the opposite way round. She came up to Sunoo, trying to find you but I ended up getting involved and she tried to slap me. Speaking of, I really do need to apologise to you for slapping you that day. It was really low of me and I shouldn’t of resorted to violence” at this point, you were in tears as you explained your side to him. Saying it all out loud just built up the confusing emotions till they pushed the need for you to cry it out

Seeing how hurt you were, Sunghoon instantly pulled you into a massive bear hug. You were already hurt from what F/N had said to you and he just had to add fuel to the fire. Seeing you so upset crushed his soul so he tilted your face up and wiped your tears away. He cupped your cheeks and used his thumbs to brush away the stray tears, causing your face to unintentionally pout.

Sunghoon’s heart started to race at the adorable sight of you. Your round watery eyes, puffy cheeks and irresistible pout made you look like a kicked puppy and he felt the urge to keep you for himself only

“Oh sweetheart. Don’t ever apologise to me. I don’t deserve it. And the things that F/N said to you are completely untrue. From what it seems, she spoke to you before coming to me to stir things between us. She caught on that I like you and started talking shit” he leaned his forehead onto yours and took a deep inhale through his nostrils

“I have a feeling that you’re right. She knew that I liked you too so she probably saw it as some kind of threat”

Sunghoon’s ears perked up at your comment and slightly pulled away to look at you properly “Liked? Do you not like me anymore? I really ruined it didn’t I?” He mumbled as his bottom lip popped out. It was slightly trembling at the thought that he had officially lost his chance with you

“No! Wait I mean yes? Wait, I- I’m just confused with how I’m feeling right now. I still like you Sunghoon despite what had happened. It’s kind of hard to lose feelings after you make me food and look so cute” you teased

He was definitely shocked but quickly tried to hide it to seem collected. So he smugly responded “Huh? So you think I’m cute? What can I say, I’m absolutely irresistible”

You scoffed with a subtle smile and pushed him away but he whined and pulled you back in

“No don’t push me away! I’m sorry pretty girl” he pushed your head into the crook of his head so he could rest his cheek on the crown on your head and rocked you side to side. He wanted to make the most out of this moment now that you were completely in his arms. He took a deep breath before deciding that he needed to do something before he loses his opportunity

“I know this might be too soon, but I really want to give us a try. I genuinely like you and want to be able to get to know you. You don’t need to agree and I would not blame you at all” he couldn’t bring himself to look at you as he confessed so he carried on rocking you. But he was mostly doing it to calm his nerves

You were completely silent and it made him tense up. He thought that this would be when you push him away and leave him heartbroken but you quietly said

“Ok let’s try. But just so you know, you’re not completely off the hook though. I still need to process everything but if we can take this slow, I’d love to give us a chance”

You looked up at him and he instantly got deja vu from the time you looked at him during practice.

“Of course! We can take it as slow as you want pretty girl. Thank you for giving me the chance” he was smiling so wide that you just stared at his gorgeous face in awe. He looked at your love-struck face and tucked your hair behind your ears

“You can’t get enough of this handsome face can you”

“Actually I take everything back”

“Wait no!”

Time skip

Sunghoon all but stormed through the corridors the next day after first second period. He zipped past the terrified students till he found the person he was looking for

“What is your deal F/N? I didn’t think you’d be even more ridiculous after what you’ve done in the past but you’ve proved me wrong” he spat

The burning gaze made F/N gulp in fear. She was currently on her own so she had no back up from her little followers

“Hoonie where is this coming from? I promise I’ve done nothing wrong”

“Oh give me a break F/N I know that you’ve been lying to Y/N and me. How bored must you be to try and pit people against each other just because you’re so miserable. Did you really think that pulling this shit would make me like you?”

F/N teared up now that she had been caught in the act. She didn’t want to admit that there was no way that Sunghoon would like her back. She desperately grabbed onto his arms as she looked at him with crazy eyes

“No it’s not true! Hoonie I didn’t do anything! Y/N is lying to you! She’s a crazy bitch that need to be taken away. I love you Hoonie and wouldn’t never lie to you”

He shoved her hands away in disgust “Cut the bullshit. I see through your stupid act. What goes through your head to think that what you’re doing is ok? Why are you making up these ridiculous lies for?”

F/N just looked at him in defeat. She knew now that there was no point in hiding it anymore “Hoonie, I have loved you for so long. I just wanted you to look at me, to give me attention. And you never once spared me the time of day. All I want is for you to like me the way I like you but you never did. Now all of a sudden, Y/N saunters in acting all innocent and she steals you away from me. She didn’t do shit and didn’t even like you. But once she started to catch feelings, suddenly you like her too. Do you blame me for being jealous when I’ve had to watch you fawn over some new girl you basically just met?”

“I’m sorry F/N but you can’t just force me to like you. I’ve fallen for Y/N because of how genuine and selfless she is. And in all honesty, I cannot say that about you. Don’t forget that you tried to use Jay and Jake to get to me as well so you can’t try to accuse Y/N of doing the same with Sunoo. I was a complete fool for believing what you had said” he shook his head and chuckled at how ridiculous his past self was

“If it is true that you actually like me, then I’m sorry that I didn’t and will not return your feelings. But I’m asking you now to please leave me, Y/N and my friends alone. They don’t deserve to be dragged into this and now I’m taking on the responsibility to protect them from getting hurt. You will find someone one day F/N and that person is most certainly not me”

F/N sighed in acceptance. She was in tears but this was the wake up call she needed to confirm his true feelings about her

“You’re right Hoonie. And I’m sorry. But before I do all of this, can you please to do something for me? I promise that if you do, I will leave you all alone.”

Sunghoon sighed. He was slightly hesitant but if it meant that she’d leave you alone, he’ll do anything

“I guess so. What do you want me to do?”

“Well, my birthday party is coming up soon and I want you stay by me. Just for that night”

“You know what? Fine. But only if I get to bring Y/N and the guys”

F/N looked defeated but was still satisfied that he’d at least come for her birthday

After exams finished

It took a lot of begging and pouting from Sunghoon’s end to get you to go to F/N’s birthday party with him and the boys. To tell the truth, you were already convinced to go but what’s the harm in milking it so you could see him act cute for a bit longer?

You were deciding what to wear since you barely owned any sort of clothing that was suitable for partying. Luckily for you, one of your friends was generous to let you try on a few of hers. You ultimately decided to go for a black mini dress as it hugged your figure perfectly. It was nothing like what you’d usually dress but you felt a wave of confidence just thinking about how Sunghoon could react to seeing you.

After you finished up your hair and makeup, you sprayed on your favourite perfume just as the doorbell rang. You opened it up and was met with Sunghoon in all of his glory. The two of you stood in silence as you took the sight of each other in.

“Oh wow. You look absolutely gorgeous. I mean, not like you’re not gorgeous all of the time” he gulped audibly as he looked you up and down

You giggled at his cute behaviour “Thank you! And you look as handsome as ever”

Your new found confidence stirred something in Sunghoon’s stomach and he was so tempted to just flake on the party and have you to himself. But unfortunately for him, he had a deal that he had to take on

As you walked passed him to get to his car, he caught a whiff of your sweet scent and that’s when he knew that it would be a long night for him

At F/N’s house

The two of you walked into the party with Sunghoon’s hand holding you on your lower back. You received a few drunken stares as you sauntered in but their attention didn’t linger for too long.

He whispered into your ear to reassure you and ask if you were ok. So you turned to him with a smile and told him that you were fine. It didn’t take long for you two to find the rest of the boys. At the moment, Niki and Jungwon were the only sober ones, whilst the rest were sipping on the alcoholic punch. You were all excited that this was the first time you had all partied together so they brought you over to take some shots.

It seemed like you were all good at handling alcohol. Well, except Jake and Heeseung. Niki was filming you all and was in absolute stitches. If he was going to be the only sober one, he was at least gonna have some fun with it. You could tell Sunghoon was feeling a lot looser than he usually was and it was refreshing to see. With that, he was extremely cuddly with you and would whine every time your attention was diverted from him

Jake suggested that you all got up to dance and none of you were going to turn down the offer. You were having the time of your life dancing with your friend’s and lip syncing to your favourite songs. Sunghoon’s arms were wrapped around your waist protectively and you leaned back against his chest. Even though you looked like a goddess, he didn’t appreciate the lingering stares of guys around you. So to make a point that you were his, he leaned down to nuzzle his nose into your neck, where you had sprayed your perfume. The sensation tickled you so you giggled and reached up to run your fingers through his hair.

It definitely looked like the two of you were officially together but you didn’t care about what everyone else was feeling. You all dance together in a mini circle for a few minutes. It was all going well until the fun was rudely disrupted

“Hey Hoonie, you made it!” F/N voice came from behind you

You couldn’t lie, she looked breathtaking. There was no wonder she could get with almost every guy she wanted.

The rest of the boys could also feel the tension from F/N’s presence. Sunghoon told you all about the deal he had made with F/N so they weren’t completely surprised when she approached.

“Oh hey. Thanks for inviting us” Sunghoon felt the need to fill the awkwardness but it was obvious that he wanted F/N to leave him alone

“Don’t be silly Hoonie. You promised you’d be my date for tonight remember?”

“That was not exactly the deal but whatever” he rolled his eyes

She tugged on his sleeves which ended up unwrapping his arms from where they comfortably sat on your waist.

“I’m gonna steal Hoonie away so I can cut my cake bye”

No one could get a word in before she dragged him through the crowd. You all stood there in disbelief but Heeseung approached you and put his arm around your shoulder

“Don’t worry your pretty head Y/Nie. It’ll just be a few hours till we can leave and then we can grab some burgers on the way back to ours” he ruffled your hair softly before you all carried on dancing to distract yourself

For the entire night, F/N was clinging onto Sunghoon’s arm. But you knew that once he fulfilled his side of the deal, she would as well and leave you all alone once and for all. That isn’t to say that it didn’t hurt to see them together as she cut her cake. You didn’t want to admit it but they did look good together. The boys must’ve sensed your discomfort so they stayed with you which calmed you a bit.

From your guesses, F/N had been prancing around and showing off the gorgeous man on her arm the entire night but you were low-key glad they weren’t around you since you didn’t have to watch him with someone else. If it wasn’t for your friends being around you, making you laugh to the point of tears, you were sure that you would be spiralling right now.

“Hey are you alright sweetheart? If you’re worried about Sunghoon it’s ok. He doesn’t want to do this either and I’m 100% sure he wants nothing more than to be with you right now. Just think that after tonight, you won’t have to deal with her again” Jay comforted you despite being drunk himself

You felt slightly nauseous so you excused yourself to go to the toilet. And since Niki was the only sober one, he offered to take you like the gentleman he was.

Despite him being the baby of the group, Niki was extremely attentive when it came to you and it was so endearing. He really treated you like his older sister and he was literally the protective baby brother you didn’t realise you needed. As you both made your way up the stairs, the music started to slightly fade which gave you guys the opportunity to talk.

“You know noona, I’m really happy that you hang out with us. And it’s so nice to see Sunghoon hyung so happy when you’re around. He may seem quite calm but I know that you definitely make him extremely giddy when you do anything. It’s the only time I’ve seem him so whipped for someone and I’m glad that it’s you. We all can acknowledge that what he said to you was fucked, but I can reassure you that he meant none of it and he’s completely serious about making you guys work”

His words made you tear up from how sweet he was. In a way, it felt like he was your baby who was growing up in front of your eyes.

“Oh Niki you’re such a sweetheart. What would I do without you hey?”

“I don’t know but I guess you’d have no one to make you laugh”

The two of you looked at each other in silence for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter as you carried on to the bathroom (F/N has a big house ok 😭)

As you carried on bantering about the boys, the last thing the two of you were expecting was to open the bathroom door and find F/N and Sunghoon making out against the counter

You let out a gasp which made them split apart and Sunghoon was sure that his life had just shattered into a billion pieces. You couldn’t find the words to express the pain you were feeling so you turned to run out of the house with Niki quickly following (of course not before he sent Sunghoon a glare that could’ve sent him to his grave)

Sunghoon couldn’t process anything as he pushed F/N away and ran to chase you with tears running down his face

“Y/N wait! Please!”

Authour’s note: 😁😁😁 well… that happened (please don’t hate me 😭)

Thank you so much for taking this time to read my work and I hope you look forward to more in the future 🩵

Sunghoon x reader

Angst, fluff

The way that the members are depicted in this story has nothing to do with how they really are or how I feel they are. It is all solely for the storyline so please bear that in mind 🫶

Summary: Too many times already, Sunghoon has messed up. He knows himself that he shouldn’t be given another chance but he just wanted to show that this was all just a misunderstanding. But how can he when everything is just a blur?

F/N = female name

Warnings: cursing, spiking, use of drugs, harassment, violence (please let me know if I need to add any more 🤍)

“Y/N please! Please don’t leave, let me explain”

Sunghoon ran behind to catch up with you and Niki. Niki found the others and told them that he was going to take you back home without an explanation. They were slightly confused but assumed that it was because you weren’t feeling too well

“Y/N, I swear it wasn’t what it looked like! F/-”

“Sunghoon just stop ok! I don’t want to hear it. Whatever I saw in there was clearly self explanatory” you cut him off with tears in your eyes

Sunghoon froze at the sight of your tears. Seeing you so hurt and him being the cause felt like a stab in the heart

“No Y/N please I’m telling you I di-“

Niki decided to step in after picking up on how uncomfortable you looked from all of the unwanted attention

“Hyung I think you should leave Y/N noona alone. You’re too drunk right now so go back to the other hyungs and go home. I’ll take her back to hers and make sure she’s safe”

He didn’t leave much time for Sunghoon to respond before wrapping his arm around your shoulder to take you back to your flat

As for Sunghoon, he remained frozen where you guys had left him. He wanted to scream out to you about how it was all a misunderstanding but he just couldn’t move. How did he manage to fuck up so bad? It was going so well for you two and he ruined it so fast

He stumbled back into the party in hopes of finding his friends so he can go home and wallow in his sorrows. It didn’t take him too long to find them but when he got closer to the table, he felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. How was he going to explain to them about what just happened?

“Hey Hoon are you good?” Heeseung called out to him

Sunghoon shook his head “No I want to go back now. I’m not feeling well”

His friends looked at him with concern but instantly got up to leave the party. The wait for their ride was silent and Sunghoon didn’t know whether to speak up and explain now before things went south, but Jay beat him to speak first

“So what happened mate? Niki and Y/N left earlier as well. We weren’t sure if you knew about that already?”

Sunghoon froze at his question “Oh. Um. Yea I saw them before they left”

“Really? I thought you would’ve left with them hyung. Y/N wasn’t feeling to well” Jungwon piped up from the back seat

Sunghoon took a deep sigh to calm his nerves. He knew that the best thing to do now was to come clean since after all, he fucked up big time

“Um. S- so, I saw Y/N and Niki before they left and um. They walked into the bathroom when F/N kissed me” his voice trailed off as he lowered his head in shame. He couldn’t stop his bottom lip from quivering, thinking back to your teary eyes when you walked in

“Are you fucking serious hyung?” Sunoo spat “How could you be so fucking stupid? Why do you keep on messing with Y/Nie as if you hadn’t already put her through enough already? I know you guys agreed to take things slow but I didn’t think you’d go fucking low to kiss another girl. And you just had to top it off with it being fucking F/N out of all people. God I don’t even want to look at you right now”

“I know and I’m so sorry Sunoo. Everything was just blank till Y/N came into the bathroom. I don’t even remember how I ended up in there.”

“Hey I think you need to calm down. You’re turning pale” Jake rubbed his back and quickly gave him a bottle of water to sip

Sunghoon felt his eyes getting heavy so decided to go to sleep in hopes that this was all just a nightmare

At Y/N’s flat

You were so thankful for Niki as he took you back to your flat. He helped you to settle in and made his way to your kitchen to get you some water and snacks to make you feel better

“Thank you for doing this Niki. I’m so sorry you had to put up with me being like this”

“Ay don’t worry about it noona. You know I’m always going to look out for you”

You patted his head like he was a puppy and rested your head on his shoulder

“Niki? Do you think it was a mistake for giving Sunghoon a chance? I feel like I’m just overreacting since we’re not actually dating”

“Noona, I know you two haven’t made things exclusive but he should’ve had the respect to not be doing these things after you both confessed to each other. You don’t have to try and justify his actions ok?”

“I guess you’re right. I don’t know. Just seeing them together tonight made them look like they were an actual couple. Technically they’ve known each other for longer so they’re bound to end up getting together at some point”

“Stop thinking like that noona. Yes hyung may be one of the people I value the most in my life, but there are no excuses for what he did. He is clearly head over heels for you so he should’ve shown that, yet here he goes and pulls this shit. You have every right to be mad at him. Because I most certainly am”

“You know I appreciate you Niki, so much. I think I should just sleep it off and that should hopefully clear up my head. Do you want to stay in my spare room for the night? It’s too late and I don’t want you going out on your own at this time”

“Ok! Thank you so much noona”

Back to the other boys flat

The 6 boys filtered back into their flat in silence and they all made their way to different rooms except for Heeseung who quickly said that he had to head out.

Sunghoon didn’t know what to do with himself. Sunoo had already let his anger out whilst the others remained silent. Yet he could feel the lingering judgment towards him, and rightfully so. Jake came over to his room and patted his shoulder with a goodnight before leaving him on his own.

He sat down on his bed and rested his head in his hands. Without even realising, the tears started to pour. The guilt and disgust was draining out and all he could think about was how to get you to talk to him and make things better

It had been about 30 minutes full of tears before there was a knock on his bedroom door. He let the person on the other side know that it was alright to come in and with that, Heeseung walked in. Seeing how distraught his friend looked, Heeseung came over to Sunghoon and engulfed him in a hug to let his friend cry it all out.

“Hyung what do I do? I’m so fucking stupid. I hurt Y/N. I care about her so much but I hurt her” he hiccuped between his words

“Look Hoon, you need to breathe ok? When you calm down, tell me what happened” Heeseung calmly soothed his friend whilst patting the back of his neck

After a few deep breaths, Sunghoon started to try and recall his memories “Most of it was just a blank to me. I remember being with Y/N and you guys but then F/N took me away to have some drinks with her friends. I don’t remember how long we were drinking for but next thing I know, F/N pinned me to the sink and kissed me. And uh, yea, that was when Y/N and Niki came” his voice trailed towards the end after bringing you up

Heeseung listened carefully before responding “You know that I will always be here for you ok Hoon? We’ve all seen each other through our worst times but we get through it together. I’m not gonna act like what you did that hurt Y/N was right, because you know yourself that it isn’t, but I’m never gonna turn my back on you ok? None of us will”

“Thank you hyung. Seriously. I don’t know how I’d be if I didn’t have you guys. I just don’t know what could’ve been going through my head. I like Y/N so much and I never want to be anywhere near F/N so I don’t know what came over me”

Heeseung let out a sigh and brought out a bag that had been in his pocket “Ok I know this is going to sound really weird but just trust me alright Hoon? I didn’t think it have to come to this but something just doesn’t seem right and I want to make sure you’re safe. You need to pee in this tube and take these antibiotics. Don’t worry about what else to do, just let me deal with everything.”

Sunghoon was shocked to say the least

“You don’t think?”

“I don’t know but I’d rather be safe than sorry”

“Ok, I trust you hyung. And really, I cannot thank you enough”

The next day

After getting a fresh start in the morning, you came to the decision that you weren’t going to put up with the way Sunghoon had treated you and this time, there was no forgiveness. You didn’t want him and F/N to think that they won by hurting you, so you kept your head held up high and went about your day like normal. The boys acted how they usually did when you bumped into them in the hallway, and Sunoo stayed by you to fill you in on the daily gossip. The only thing that was different was that you barely saw Sunghoon and when you did, he’d look a lot paler than usual. As soon as you made eye contact with him, you turned to walk the other way

As days went by, you saw him less and less, to the point where he was absent for an entire week. Even though you basically wanted nothing to do with him, you weren’t heartless. So when you saw the boys during lunch you didn’t hesitate to ask

“Hey how is Sunghoon? I swear he’s not been in for a few days”

The boys froze at your question but tried to play it cool

“Don’t worry Y/Nie he’s just not feeling too well” Jake spoke up

“Oh ok that’s fine then”

There was a moment of silence before Heeseung broke it “I know you probably don’t want to talk about it Y/Nie but we want you to know that Hoon really hates himself for hurting you. He truly does care about you, you have to know that. We’re not going to defend his actions but if you ever want to, please talk to him because he’s not doing to good”

“I’m not sure Seungie. There have been so many things that he’s done that have hurt me. Yes I may still like him, but I’m not going to tolerate someone treating me like that.”

“We understand Y/Nie and we’ll never force you to do something you’re not comfortable with”

Heeseung’s POV:

He felt frustrated with the entire situation but at the same time, he wanted to solve things between everyone because it hurt to see everyone so down. As the oldest, he felt obligated to make everyone felt better no matter how hard it was

Everyday, he and the boys would take turns to check up on Sunghoon and keep him a bit of company to show that they had his back. It had been a few days till he finally got a long awaited letter in the post first thing in the morning and his palms were sweating as he opened the envelope. As he read the writing, he felt a bubbling rage before he stormed out of the flat with the paper crumbling in his hand

No one’s POV:

“You are fucking disgusting” Heeseung spat with clenched teeth as he slammed the letter on the desk

F/N was completely startled at the sudden attack

“What do you mean Seungie”

“DON’T call me that you bitch. You are fucked in the head you know. Just read this”

F/N picked the paper up with her shaking hands. Her eyes made her almost look manic as she read through it

“It wasn’t me I swear!”

“Oh don’t give me that bullshit F/N. I can see through your fake innocent act. He was with you the entire night since you wouldn’t let anyone else near him. You better explain everything, and I mean everything to Y/N and Sunghoon. Because if you don’t, I will use this and go to the police”

Y/N’s POV:

You had just finished up in the library as it was your free period and you were making your way to the toilets. The last thing you were expecting was F/N to approach you, and looking worried

“Um, I really need to talk to you. Are you free now?”

You were surprised that she wasn’t screaming at you. Or at least flaunting Sunghoon to you “Uh yeah sure what’s up?”

“It’s about my birthday party with Sunghoon”

“Look F/N if this is your way of bragging to me then I don’t want to know about it. You won ok? Are you happy now”

“No you don’t understand ok Y/N. If I don’t tell you this, I can get in serious trouble. Just please promise that once I tell you this, we sweep it under a rug and just move on”

“What are you on about? I don’t owe you shit”

“Please Y/N! I can’t let Heeseung go to the police. I can’t!”

You were taken aback by her outburst. Your eyebrows furrowed as you questioned her “Why would the police be involved with this”

F/N choked up and took a deep breath before explaining everything

*Flashback*

F/N dragged Sunghoon from his group and brought him over to the mini bar where her friends were. They were all over him, asking him questions and running their hands all over him. It was obvious to anyone that he was extremely uncomfortable but no one came to help him.

Whilst he was distracted, F/N poured a drink for her and Sunghoon before pulling out a small bag of powder from her purse. She didn’t hesitate to pour some of it into his drink before handing it to him

Because Sunghoon felt so overwhelmed with the unwanted attention, he downed the drink, as well as many others the whole night to try and distract himself. He just wanted to get this all over with so he can go back to his friends and cuddle with you. His plan was to take you out the next morning to get breakfast, and hopefully have a date before confessing that he wanted to make things exclusive between you two. But as time went on, he felt like the room started to spin a bit and the noise started to drown out his thoughts

When F/N asked how he was feeling, it was like the sound was echoing as his vision started to blur

“Girlies I’m going to take Hoonie to the bathroom. Don’t miss us too much” she smirked as she grabbed the poor man’s arm and dragged him upstairs

When she shoved him into the bathroom, she instantly pinned him to the bathroom and grabbed his face to try and kiss him. With the limited strength that he had, he pulled his face away to get away from her. His speech was slightly slurred and he wobbled as he moved away.

“What are you doing F/N? Get off me”

“I just want some fun Hoonie. Why would your bore yourself with that bitch when I’m right here”

“I don’t want you why can’t you get that through your head. Y/N is the one that I care about so just leave us be. Whatever the deal is that we had is done. I’m going”

“Why is it always Y/N? She doesn’t deserve you! No one does but me! Why won’t you fucking love me?!”

And with that, she grabbed his face again and forced her lips onto his. At that moment, the bathroom door swung open, revealing you and Niki

Sunghoon felt like someone had thrown ice water at him when he made eye contact with you. He knew what this would look like from you perspective so he instantly shoved F/N with his last bit of strength and went to chase your crying figure

“Y/N wait! Please!”

*End of flashback*

Your eyes were stinging as F/N explained everything that happened that night. You felt absolutely disgusted by her, the more she elaborated on each detail. A burning feeling of rage came over you and before you knew it, you lunged at her and punched her in the face. There was nothing stopping you as you straddled over her and threw constant punches. It wasn’t till two strong arms wrapped around you and dragged your body off her

“Get off me! I’m going to fucking kill her”

“Hey Y/N stop it, ok! You don’t want to get in trouble yourself”

You struggled in the grip but turned around to look at Heeseung

“Y/N you need to calm down. She’s got a lot coming for her so don’t handle this with violence alright? This isn’t you and she isn’t worth it. Just let me handle this all and don’t get your precious hands dirty alright?”

He brought you into a tight hug and stroked you hair as you cried into his chest. It hurt him so much to see you so distraught. But he knew that you had to hear the full story so you would understand everything that actually happened.

F/N struggled to get up but when she saw the deathly glare from Heeseung, she felt a shiver go down her spine and ran off

“Seungie I feel so stupid. He was left so vulnerable and I took it all out on him. I hate myself so much for not letting him explain”

Heeseung sighed as he rocked you side to side

“Y/Nie it’s not your fault ok. No one is at fault here but F/N. I didn’t want to believe it but things weren’t adding up so I got Hoon to do a test. The results only just came in and it confirmed that he was spiked”

“Please tell me he’s ok. He’s feeling better now right?”

“Don’t worry I made him take antibiotics as soon as. He’s just feeling down right now and refusing to eat so that’s why he’s not feeling well enough to come in”

“It’s all my fault. I should’ve just listened to him”

“Hey! I said you have no reason to blame yourself Y/Nie. I know you must be overwhelmed right now, but if you can, please speak to him. He’s not been the same since since that night”

“Ok Seungie. Thank you”

Time skip

You walked back with the boys to their flat as you mentally prepared for how your conversation with Sunghoon would go. Heeseung had updated the rest of the boys about everything that happened and even though they wanted nothing more than to confront F/N themselves, they knew that at this moment in time Sunghoon had to come first

You knocked on Sunghoon’s door and he responded with a weak voice

“I’m not hungry right now hyung, I’ll eat later”

Instead of responding back, you opened his door slowly and peeked your head through a bit

“Sunghoon? Are you ok?”

Instantly, the boy shot up from his bed and looked at you in awe

“Y/N! I, um, what are you doing here?”

You couldn’t find the words to say, so you ran over to him and gave him a hug. The tears were falling non stop and you hiccuped into his shoulder. You felt his arms wrap around you to stroke your back and he tucked his face into your neck

“I’m so sorry Sunghoon. I should’ve been there for you. F/N told me everything that happened that night. And then Seungie showed me your test results. God I’m so stupid”

“Shh it’s ok. You didn’t know Y/Nie, I didn’t either. All I knew was that I didn’t want to be around her and something wasn’t right. Just seeing how upset you were because of me again, absolutely killed me. When Heeseung hyung told me about taking the test, I didn’t want to believe that I could be so vulnerable. And I didn’t want you to see me as weak for getting into that situation in the first place. But please believe me Y/N, I care about you so much. I would never dream of intentionally hurting you like that”

When you felt his shaking shoulders, you stroked the back of his head to play with his hair

“Oh Hoonhoon, you don’t need to explain it to me anymore. I shouldn’t of been so stubborn to ignore you. And you are not weak ok? You are the strongest person I know. F/N took advantage of you and she will pay for what she’s done”

Seeing you so angry for him, he felt so giddy inside. He shouldn’t be thinking about it but you looked so adorable in his eyes, like an angry kitten. He brought his hand up to grab yours and give it a kiss. But he paused when he saw how red and sore they looked

“What happened to your hands pretty girl?” He stroked over each one with his thumb

“Well, when she told me what she did to you… I may have… punched her?”

“Y/N. Why would you put yourself in danger like that? It’s not worth you getting hurt over”

“But it was worth it for me! What I did to her was nothing compared to what she put you through. She deserves more than just a few punches” you pouted as you looked at your interlocked hands “Are you upset with me?”

He couldn’t help but chuckle at your cute antics. Everything that you did made him fall even harder

“Of course not pretty girl. I can never be mad at you. I just don’t want you getting hurt because of me. I care about you so much. You have no idea how much I think about you all of the time. Being away from you was absolute torture”

His heart was pounding in his chest as you looked him directly in the eyes. He brought his hand towards your chin to bring you forward and after what felt like forever, he pulled you in for a long awaited kiss. You could practically hear the fireworks going off around you as you both moved your lips perfectly against each other. It was so sweet and perfect for your first kiss and you didn’t want it to stop. Unfortunately, you started to lose your breath so you pulled away to get some air. He whined at the loss of your lips and quickly chased after them, making you giggle. You let him litter small pecks on your swollen lips with a wide smile

“Sunghoon! I can’t breathe” you giggled

“Sunghoon?!? What happened to Hoonhoon?” He pouted and looked at you with his best puppy eyes “It was so cute! And you never call me by a cute nickname. Everyone but me has one. Call me Hoonhoon from now on ok?”

“Ok ok Hoonhoon I promise”

You two carried on cuddling and kissing on his lap till he reluctantly pulled away

“I had a perfect plan to take you somewhere cute before saying this, but I can’t hold it anymore. Y/Nie, I like you so much and I honestly don’t know how to cope without you. You are the most perfect, beautiful girl I have ever laid my eyes upon and I was such a fool to treat you the way I did in the past. I admit I was a complete asshole to everyone but once I met you, I just knew I had to make you mine no matter what. You bring so much joy into my life and I want to experience this forever. You don’t have to say anything now pretty, but will you be my girlfriend?”

You looked at him in shock as he confessed. Your chest was swelling with joy from his words and you felt the overwhelming feeling to just cry. However Sunghoon took this the wrong way and immediately panicked

“I’m sorry Y/Nie I didn’t mean to make you cry again! Just forget what I said ok y-”

His words were cut off by you smashing your lips onto his

“Hoonhoon of course I’ll be your girlfriend silly. You were just so cute that I couldn’t handle it. You don’t have to take me somewhere cute because this was perfect. Being here with you is all I want”

It was like he was the Cheshire cat the way he smiled so wide. Finally! You were his! And he was never going to let you go

“You don’t know how much this means to me Y/Nie! Thank you for giving me a chance, I’m never let anything hurt you ok baby?

You nodded but he quickly picked up the redness of your cheeks so he instantly teased you for it

“Oh does my pretty girl like being called baby? Oh my baby is so cute I just want to kiss you”

“Hoonhoon! Stop teasing me it’s not funny!”

“But it is baby! Don’t worry I’ll make it up to you” he cooed at you and pressed a massive kiss to your burning cheeks

“Ok well first, you can make it up to me by getting something to eat. The boys have been telling me that you’re refusing to eat”

He looked at you sheepishly and nuzzled his face into your neck and agreed to get some food

The boys cheered as they saw the two of you emerge from Sunghoon’s room, holding hands. You’d expect this kind of reaction when they won their rugby match but to them, this was better

You all celebrated by going for a nice bbq where you had to fight the boys over who would pay for the meal. Unfortunately for you, your boyfriend was quick to hold you back as you reach your card out. They weren’t going to let you pay so they agreed to split it between the 7 of them

At that moment, you realised that this was what true happiness felt like. Surrounded by the people you cared about the most. Looking at your precious boyfriend, you interlocked your hands and gave him a small peck which caught him off guard. He tried to keep his composure though so he returned a kiss which resulted in the boys teasing the two of you. You all laughed as you hid in Sunghoon’s shoulder from embarrassment, but you wouldn’t have it any other way

Sunghoon made it a goal to be the best boyfriend ever and he was doing a good job at proving it. He constantly spoilt you, despite you saying that he didn’t need to. You were always the first thing he thought about in any situation. Did you need a lift? Were you hungry? Should he buy you that plushie you briefly looked at the other day?

Either way, he was perfect. You planned to have date nights every week but it turned to it being almost everyday, not like either of you were complaining. And they would always end in you two kissing and cuddling till you fell asleep.

It was safe to say that your life was perfect

Oh you wanted to know what happened to F/N? Well obviously she wasn’t going to get away with that shit she pulled. Heeseung may have told her that all she had to do was confess everything to you and Sunghoon, but he wasn’t going to leave her unpunished. She messed with his loved ones and she was going to suffer

Whilst you and Sunghoon had your talk, Heeseung left the house briefly to go to the police station where he told them everything they needed to know, alongside Sunghoon’s test results.

A few days later, she was arrested and she never returned to classes

Safe to say, there was nothing for you, Sunghoon and your friends to worry about any more

The familiar feeling of emptiness flooded his body. Sunghoon’s eyes were lifeless as the they gazed at the coffin where his sister’s remains lay.

This was the same feeling he had when his father’s mistress left him at his biological father’s mansion.

He felt the coldness of his father towards him. He felt the hatred of his father’s wife. He saw disappointment in his grandparents’ faces.

He was unloved and unwanted, it was a no brainer.

For a six-year-old child, it was all too much to take. When he was living with his mother, he was treatedlike shit. And when he lived with his father, there was no difference at all. It’s no wonder why he became wary of people. He wouldn’t want to talk to anyone, nor be in the same room as them. He would only go out to eat and return to his room to lock himself up. He even thought back then that his existence was big bad joke.

But one day, a girl with the same dark brown eyes as his went inside his room and forced him to leave the house and drink up some sunshine. He had no other choice but to follow the girl because she would never let go of his hand.

Truth to be told, Sunghoon found the girl irritating, he wanted to hurt her. But when she said that she was his sister and that she would protect him from all evil, he was left speechless. Because for the first time in years, there was a person who wanted to protect him. Her older sister’s smile made him cry, not because of sadness, but because of happiness.

He let out a hollow laugh. He will never see those smiles of her sister ever again. Those good old times would now be just a mere memory.

He slightly turned his head when he heard someone familiar talking behind him. Sunghoon’s jaw clenched as he stared at the cause of his beloved sister’s death, Lee Heeseung. His bestfriend and her sister’s boyfriend.

With heavy feet, he stood up and approached the guy and his father who he was talking to.

“You’re not welcome here, Lee Heeseung. Leave” His voice was hard and heavy.

“Park Sunghoon!” His father reprimanded.

“Uncle, can you please give us a minute? We’re just going to talk.”

“If you want to explain what happened, then let me tell you that you’re just wasting your time.” He said, blankly, not showing an ounce of emotion to the guy in front of him.

“Please, Sunghoon, listen to me. I didn’t want all of this to happen. I-I’m sorry.” Heeseung sounded so pathetically contrite, making him want to vomit.

“So you want me forgive you just like that, Heeseung?” He sarcastically remarked. Heeseung shook his head with a sigh and looked at Sunghoon with pleading eyes once again.

“I know it was partly my fault, and I am also hurting, Sunghoon. You know how much I love your sister, and I wouldn’t ask for this to happen.”

“You wouldn’t ask for this to happen?” He sharply retorted what the guy said. “It was the middle of the fucking night, yet you asked her to go out riding in your stupid car. You asked her to leave even if it was already late. Clearly, you asked for this the happen! You are the reason why my sister is lying there!” He lashed out, pointing at the coffin where her sister’s lifeless body lie.

“It was our anniversary! I invited her out because I wanted to surprise her!” Heeseung’s left hand balled into a fist he was sure the right one would do the same if it weren’t in a sling due to the accident.

“Yeah, and because of that stupid surprise, my sister died.” He saw the look of hurt in his best friend’s eyes, but the pain that he is seeing wasn’t enough for him. He wanted to beat the shit out of Heeseung and kill him with his bare hands, but that would be too easy.

“I didn’t know that a drunk driver would appear and hit us! If only I knew… I-if only I knew…” Heeseung’s eyes reddened with pain.

Sunghoon’s greeted his teeth, turning away. “Leave.”

“Sunghoon, please….”

“Just leave!” he hissed. “Leave and don’t ever show your face to me ever again.” He said in a serious tone.

“Sunghoon?” He was quick to turn his head towards the source of the voice. There stood Y/n, standing next to Heeseung as she anxiously glanced back and forth between the two. “Why would you say that to my brother?”

His lips pressed firmly with a stern expression. “Because his idea of a pleasant surprise is a bad joke.”

That was all he said before returning to his seat. He didn’t bother to look at the two again, and he wasn’t able to see Y/n’s eyes widen in surprise. He only heard the faint farewells of the two to his father.

Once again, Sunghoon confined in his own lonely world. He feels like he was cursed and happiness was forcefully denied to him. Losing his sister who helped him break free from his dark world was painful.

Losing a friend that he considered a family was painful.

Losing the woman he had learned to love was painful.

In just a snap, he lost the people who gave color to his world.

 P.sh

10 years later…

The service crew was very attentive, Sunghoon noticed. The place was modern and cozy. He hadn’t taste any of the pastries yet, but they looked appetizing. All in all, the bakeshop was pretty impressive. There’s no wonder why a lot of people go here.

On the other hand, it was quite a surprise that he’s in the shop. This was the first time he set foot in this place.

He wouldn’t bother to come if it weren’t for something important, especially since the owner of this bakeshop is the sister of someone he despises.

Yes, he knew you owned this place.

Your town is small enough for him to not know that. So, why the hell would he choose to meet someone in your haven of all places? There was a ninety-nine percent chance of him seeing you there. But what can he do about it?

His ‘oh so noble father’ commanded him to meet with the girl he liked for him. Obviously wanting him to settle down already. And because that he is the only son of his beloved father, he has no right to oppose to it.

He felt his phone rang and he answered.

“Yes?”

“Hey, Mr. Park.”

Said the girl on the other line. The voice sound forcefully seductive it sounded cheap to his ear.

“May I know who’s on the other line?”

Sunghoon asked lazily and almost rolled his eyes.

“This is Shin Yuna. I’m the one you’re meeting at the bakery in town.”

His eyes went searching for a woman who was on the phone, probably speaking with him. At the door he saw a woman wearing a tight-fitting yellow dress. The woman had a phone pressed to one ear, her eyes scanning the inside of the shop. Looks like she was the one he’s waiting for.

He ended that call once her eyes landed on him. Evidently, she’d recognize him. A sensual smile appeared on her bloody red lips and she started walking towards him.

He should feel lucky because the woman was a catch. Her skin was smooth and fair, she had shiny, long hair. And in his opinion, aside from her hourglass figure, the girl’s flawless legs were her best asset, free from any scars.

She was gorgeous all right. But it doesn’t have an impact on Sunghoon.

Yuna must be one of those girls who are pretty on the outside, empty in the inside. Beautiful but annoying and boring.

He stood up as the girl approached. He offered his hand but she didn’t take it. Instead, she leaned to give him a kiss on his cheek. Okay, he wasn’t at all shocked by that.

“Nice to meet you Mr. Park” she greeted

“The pleasure is all mine, Miss Shin.”

“Please, call me Yuna.” She said with a wide almost flirty smile. “Then call me Sunghoon.” He motioned her to the seat in front of him. “Please, have a seat.”

“Thank you, have you ordered anything yet” she said as she sat.

Sunghoon shook his head. “Not yet, I was waiting for you. And it’s my first time here, I don’t know what food to choose.” Her hand rested on his arm and he wasn’t born yesterday to not know that she was openly flirting with him.

“Oh Really? You should try their famous gyeran-ppang. It’s a fluffy loaf of bread with a whole egg inside. It’s really good, I suggest you try it.”

Sunghoon suddenly remembered you, gyeran-ppang was your favorite ever since. Be it sweet of savory. He didn’t expect that those two could be brought together.

“If you liked it, maybe I should try it.” He simply said, trying to push away the memories. Yuna’s eyes sparkled, and he wanted to roll his eyes, but Sunghoon retrained himself. What was an hour of enduring this infront of her, right?

“Okay, I’ll just go to the counter to order, since this is a self-service shop.” Yuna said as he noticed a slight frown on her face. “I hope next time they hire waiters here so customers won’t have to go to the counter to do the job.”

Ah, he knew it.

His assumptions were correct, the girl only visually pleasing. Deep inside, she was a typical rich brat. He found his father’s taste in girl quite funny.

“It’s like hitting two birds with one stone. The service would be aster, plus it would provide jobs for jobless people. That way, more customers would go here, and it would reduce the number of unemployed people.” She annoyingly added further.

God help him stop himself from sneering. As if he’d believe that shit. What could this girl possibly know about work and helping other people?

“Yeah, you’re right.” He answered dryly. “I’ll order, I’m the guy here and I should be the one treating you and taking care of things.”

She sweetly smiled at him once again. “Why, thank you, Sunghoon. I’ll have two gyeran-ppang and one iced coffee. And please ask for a fork and knife while you’re at it.”

“Alright.” He gave her a small smile and quickly stood up, immediately walking his way to the counter to escape his date. He wished the serving of their food would last longer, but the workers in the shop were indeed good at what they do. In less than six minutes. He was back at his table with Yuna waiting for him.

“Go ahead and try it.” She urged him to sit down as their order was served. He took a bit of the gyeran-ppang and he instantly knew why it became popular in the area.

“It’s good right?” He simply nodded in response. Yuna then picked up the bread knife and fork that he requested earlier and used them to eat.

“Why use a fork and knife? It’s a finger food.” He couldn’t help but to ask.

“Oh, eating it with my fingers would be a mess, and my lipstick would smudge if I eat it directly.” Sunghoon avoided raising the corners of if his lips.

“I see. I’m surprised that you eat food like this and have that kind of body.” Yuna let out a shy laugh at his statement.

“I’m very conscious with what I eat, but when I tried this a few weeks ago, I forgot the diet. I even bought boxes of it for the orphanage that we were helping, And the kids loved it too.”

She was trying to impress him by mentioning the word orphanage? Would it be a bad idea to laugh? Or was he being too hard on this girl? After all, what did he know about Yuna? He didn’t even bother to make an effort to find out about the girl’s demeanor before coming here. Is her values really worth his time? Sunghoon bit his lip to stop himself from commenting something he’d regret saying later on.

Sunghoon glanced at the entrance of the bakeshop and he swore he felt his heart pounded. A pang of nostalgia when he saw a familiar figure arrive.

You were like an angel minus the wings and the halo. You were wearing a simple with dress that gave you sweet and innocent look. He didn’t expect that you would become even more beautiful than you are over the years. Your rosy white skin was flawless, he longed to touch it. Your lips were full and naturally pink. He almost tasted those once and he suddenly had this urge to kiss you.

He sighed forcefully, everything about him was cold earlier but he felt so damn hot in an instant just by seeing you. He wanted to own you, he wanted to make you his.

Sunghoon felt his heart race at he continued to stare at your face, feeling the rush of warmth in his body.

The beautifully scattered moles on your face made you look more unique ang exquisite to him. Back then, Sunghoon thought he could spend the rest of his life just by looking at your lovely face. Your beautifully sculpted brown eyes with thick and long lashes were still bright and full of life. He wanted to lose himself one day while looking at those hypnotic vivid orbs.

You walked you way towards the counter and greeted your staff with a bright smile.

The sun’s heat was nothing compared to the warmth of your smile. You were like the sun, only brighter, with inky black hair shining.

Now that’s his kind of pretty. You would always be his kind of pretty. Your beauty was ethereal, it was second to none in Sunghoon’s eyes. He mustered all his strength to look away from the person who evoked such emotions from him.

He tried to put his focus on the person in front of him, but his eyes would occasionally wander back to you.

“So, what are you busy with these days?” He heard Yuna asked him.

“Work, I guess.” He shrugged. “We export high quality mangoes to our neighboring countries.”

“Oh. Yeah, my parents and I visited your mango farm once. And I must say, your place is very refreshing.”

“Thank you, how about you? What your work?” He asked to have something to talk about, not because he wanted to know.

Yuna took a sip of her iced coffee before responding.

“I’m an interior designer, I often have famous celebrities as my client.” She said, feeling proud. “You know that one actor in squid game? He was my last client. Tell you what, his mansion was large, so I was very happy that I got the project.”

He tried his best not to look bored.

What does he care about celebrities? He hadn’t even watched this movie that she was talking about. But he needed to endure all this for two reasons. First, he didn’t want to be rude no matter how his inner demon wished to be. And second, to distract himself from your presence.

His only problem now is how will he hide himself from the owner of this bakery.

“Hey, Ning. How are you all doing?” You asked your worker working on the cashier as you entered the counter.

“We’re doing fine, Y/n. It was a bit of a hassle earlier because there were loads of customers, but it was overall doing alright. I mean, what’s a little hassle when you can earn profit, right?” Ningning said, smiling widely.

You giggled. “Yes, true. Sorry for being late, I wasn’t able to help you here. I just had something to take care of back home.”

“No, Y/n. It’s all good, you’re the boss here after all. You don’t have to worry about a single thing, we got you.” She said reassuringly, smiling softly at you.

“Yeah, Y/n. Besides, we know you’re going through something tough right now. How was everything anyway?” Sunoo, your amazing barista, asked. You sighed deeply before answering the young man.

“It’s not settled yet, our ranch is still a mess.”

“Oh, Y/n. Don’t be down like that, you’re going to get through everything sooner than you think.” You just smiled a Sunoo’s statement.

You needed money to rebuild the barn. You needed to hire new workers to manage the ranch. It could all be solved with money, but the problem is you don’t have much of it.

Ever since your parents died few years ago, your brother took over the management of the estate.

But what can Heeseung do when half of his life was into car racing? Even you don’t know how to run a ranch because your job is making different kinds of delicious bread. Before you and Heeseung could even realize it, the inheritance your parents left you both was slowly falling apart.

And now you and your brother wanted to save the precious land. You would give all the earning from the bakeshop just to make it work, but it was just wasn’t enough. You and Heeseung tried going to the banks, but they turned you down every time you tried. Your brother doesn’t want your house or land as collateral.

You were thankful for the people working for your shop as they wholeheartedly give you their support.

“Thank you for comforting my, guys. Don’t worry, if everything settles down, I’ll definitely throw a party.” They all cheered as you smiled.

You went out to fix the displays in the counter. You didn’t notice someone passing by, making you bump into them.

“I’m sorry,” You apologized, realizing that you bumped into a woman. She quickly brushed off the area you bumped into and gave you a sharp look.

“Next time, watch where you’re going.” She turned to look at the person next to her and whispered.

“Sunghoon, let’s go?”

You felt like you were turned into stone and it looks like Sunghoon felt the same way. It seems like he was frozen in place where he stood, his gaze solely fixed on you.

But it seemed like you’re mistaken because when you looked closely at the man, his face had no expression at all.

He had changed, but not really. He was still the same Sunghoon. Only stronger, leaner, harder, darker, and more attractive. It scared you, he scared you. Yet, you wanted to reach out and talk to him. But to your utter dismay, he just walked past you. And before you knew, he was long gone. Again.

 P.sh

Sunghoon kept telling himself that he was not a stalker, but it had been five days and this was his fifth time your bakeshop. He just couldn’t go inside. So for those five days, he contented himself with parking in front of your shop, and watching from inside his car.

When he saw you again, he had a big idea in mind, and yes, that was the reason why he kept going to your bakeshop. Sadly, he would always go home without seeing you.

He couldn’t help overhearing the conversation between you and your employees. Their table wasn’t that far from the counter so it was inevitable. He was surprised that you didn’t notice him right away. But if Sunghoon were to talk about surprising things, what he heard was even more surprising.

It looked like karma found its way to Lee Heeseung. He should be happy about it and somehow, he was.

Heeseung took something from him, someone important, so Sunghoon should take someone important from him too.

A sister for a sister. An eye for an eye.

He glanced at his watch and told himself that this should be the perfect time. He got out of his car and walked straight towards the bakeshop. It was already past eight o’clock, but the bakeshop was still almost full.

He noticed the two service crew he saw last time, staring at him, but they immediately turned their backs on him. He approached them.

“Told you, the person inside the black car that is always parked in front of the shop isn’t a bad person. Look at him, he’s too handsome to be a bad person.” He heard the girl he assumed the name was Ningning.

“Seriously? Just because someone isn’t physically attractive doesn’t mean they’re a bad person, you know? And not everyone who looks good is automatically good. You’re being too judgmental.” Sunoo rebuked.

“And what thing could he possibly do, huh?” Ningning asked sarcastically.

“Hello? Ever heard of the saying ‘looks can be deceiving’?” Sunghoon tried not to smirk. Because their backs were facing him, they weren’t able to notice him approaching a while ago.

“Excuse me?” He said, gaining attention from the two. Ningning turned around, her eyes slightly widened.

“Yes, Sir? How can we help you?” Despite the surprise, she quickly regained her composure.

Sunghoon gave her a slight smile. “Um, I’m looking for Y/n. Is she here?” He noticed the two exchanged glances as Ningning seemed a bit hesitant before responding.

“May I ask what’s your relation to Miss Y/n, Sir?”

“I’m a friend. I’d like to have a word with her.”

“Miss Y/n is still in her office.” He saw her co-worker elbowed her, but he didn’t pay much attention to it. “If you’d like, you can have a seat while waiting for her.”

“Okay, Thank you.” He said, walking around the shop to find a comfortable seat. And he couldn’t help but to overhear their conversation once again.

“Friend? Then why am I just seeing him now?”

“I don’t know. He seems nice to me even though he looks a bit harsh.”

“Oh well. Good thing Jake is not here or else he might get jealous.”

For some godforsaken reason, he found his heart tightening at the name he just heard. Who was this Jake guy that might get jealous over him? Is it your Suitor? Boyfriend? Fiance? Sunghoon clenched his jaw. Just imagining another man touching a strand of your inky black hair made him feel sick.

He sat on an empty table near the counter and patiently waited there.

“Ningning, Sunoo, I’m leaving. Will you two be alright staying?” Said the enticing voice near the counter. He glanced over and saw you there.

“Call me whenever something happened, alright? I’ll get going.”

“Oh, Y/n! someone is looking for you.” Ningning said before she forgot. Your brows furrowed as you looked Ningning with a puzzled expression.

“Who?”

Sunghoon stood up and spoke. “Me.” He watched your eyes grow wide with shock as he walked towards you. “Can we talk?”

“I… Of course.” You absent-mindedly nodded. You pointed at the room where you came from. “Let’s go to my office.”

The air tensed up the moment you both entered your office. You sat on your chair as Sunghoon took the visitor’s chair. His eyes were trained on your face while you were looking down on your lap. No one dared to speak. It was dead quiet inside the room, a silent standstill.

Sunghoon decided not to make rhings more awkward. “It’s been a while Y/n.” Great, you suck at opening conversations, man. He honestly wanted to smack himself.

You looked up and your eyes met. “Yeah, it has been a while. How are you?” You slightly smiled at him.

“I’m doing great. You? How are you? I heard your having problems at the ranch.” He paused at what he said. It made him wonder if he was rushing the conversation.

“How did you know?” You asked hesitantly. “The town is a small place, Y/n.” She firmly pressed her lips together. For someone sweet and innocent-looking, you could be fiery too.

“Yes, there’s a big problem at the ranch, but it would be solved in no time.”

“Really?” He raised an eyebrow at the intensity he heard in your voice. “According to what I’ve heard, you were having troubles finding the money needed to fix things on your ranch. So, I came here to offer a proposal.” He leaned on the chair and watched your confused face. You were always this transparent, it’s likely that you now think he’s going crazy.

“What proposal?” You asked with confusion written all over your face.

“I will lend the money you need for the ranch, but you have to marry me.” His simple answer seemed like he was just inviting you to go out ang have a picnic. You looked at him with an unreadable expression before you respond.

“I’m going to what?!”

“You heard me.” He knew it was unnecessary because she could always reach him if she wanted to. But Sunghoon still took a business card from his wallet and placed it on the table.

“I want you to think about it. Call me whenever you made up your mind.”

You stood up from your seat and looked at him with hard eyes. “If you’re just playing around like you used to do, just leave, Sunghoon. Don’t waste my time.”

He also stood up to remind you of the significant height difference you both had.

“I’m not fooling around, Y/n. I’m dead serious.”

“Then why? Why would you want to marry me?” You asked, still stunned be his offer.

“For revenge, I guess? I’ll lend your dear brother the money to help with the recovery of your ranch. But after that, you will cut ties with him. You can’t meet him nor even talk to him.” He took a deep breath before letting out the next heavy words.

“He took my sister from me, I will take you away from him. It’s my kind of revenge.”

“You’re crazy.”

“Oh, yeah?” He smirked but once again quickly turned serious. “Whose fault is that?”

“Why would you think would I agree to that?” You tilted you chin up, trying to defy him. Too bad, it was futile. The corner of his mouth went up again. “Because you’ve got no other option.”

“You’re insane.”

“Crazy? Insane? Well, maybe you could come up with something more colorful after this.” He grabbed your nape and captured you sinfully pink lips. The table wasn’t able to hinder him from giving you something that would shake your world.

Your heart was pounding as you proceeded to enter your house. You still couldn’t believe what just happened thirty minutes ago. The Sunghoon whom you secretly love, and the friend who suddenly left you and your brother returned to shake up your world once again.

One slap wasn’t enough for what he did to you. And he has the audacity to be the one walking out after his recklessness.

You touched your lips. Until now, you still feel the young man’s kiss and the warmth of his lips brushing against yours. It was a shocking first time and definitely a memorable one. But despite all that, you felt butterflies in your stomach.

You took a deep breath before walking to the kitchen to get something to drink. But on your way, your gaze drifted towards the study room. The room was slightly ajar. You approached and entered.

You saw your brother sitting on the swivel chair with his eyes closed. He looks beat and tired and it pained you. If there’s only something you could do to help solve this problem, you had already done it.

Then it hit you. You could do something to help you dear brother and fix the problem. Only, there was a price to pay.

It has already been ten years since Sunghoon’s sister died. Maybe it’s time for you to do something to make him forgive your brother and move on. Maybe you could at least give him a bit of happiness, maybe you could do something to bring him back to his old self.

You glanced at your brother. Please, trust me on this.

It would be hard, you knew. But you needed to do something to save them all.

 P.sh

“We’re here,” Sunghoon announced. “Nervous?”

You looked out the car window and surveyed the grand mansion that would become your new home. Your heart was racing, and you felt like your heartbeat was at one hundred and seventy bars per minute. You felt nauseous, your hands were badly sweating and you were having a hard time breathing.

No, you weren’t nervous. You were having an anxiety attack.

Sunghoon unbuckled your seatbelt before holding your face with both hands, waiting for to look into his eyes. His eyes were dark and sensual. Nope, it didn’t help you calm down a bit.

“Are you okay? You look pale.” He asked with concern in his voice. He felt your forehead and neck as if checking if you had a fever.

You felt electricity ran through your body because of his touch. Feeling as if you were burning, you pulled away from him and averted your gaze somewhere else.

“I’m fine. It’s just that, this was all so sudden.” You noticed his expression darken from the corner of your eyes.

“Then get used to it because you’re my wife starting today.”

Before you could even respond, he already exited the car and opened the passenger side door for you. He took the duffle bag containing a few pieces of your clothes. He then held your hand as you both walked towards the mansion.

“Don’t be so stiff, Y/n. There’s no way I would hurt you, you know?”

You knew Sunghoon was telling the truth, but it wasn’t enough to calm you down. He wouldn’t hurt you, he said. Still, he had the power to, especially now that you were married.

It all happened so fast. Just last week you were still a Lee, and you still couldn’t believe that you are now Mrs. Park.

After that night, you went to your bakery and called Sunghoon the next morning. And a week later, you were now married. No entourage, reception or whatsoever.

After the civil wedding with the judge that Sunghoon knew, you went straight to the mansion, you didn’t even manage to say goodbye to your brother who was currently not in korea.

At the mansion’s door, you were both greeted by Aunt Chul, the house keeper. Sunghoon and his sister had nannies when they were children, but they remained closest to the woman.

“Dear!” Aunt Chul greeted you as she gave you a warm hug, then gently held your face as she pulled away.

“How are you? It has been so long and you grew beautifully, Dear.”

Despite everything, you were able to put a happy and genuine smile on your face. “Thank you, Auntie. I’m doing great, and you?”

“Oh, I’m not getting any younger, dear! I think I can count the remaining black hairs I have left.” The woman joked, laughing slightly.

“You still look great, Auntie.” You smiled at her, shaking you head slightly.

“You’re still the same old playful one, aren’t you?” she teased. “Now come get inside, I prepared you both something to eat.”

She turned to Sunghoon and looked at him. “Let me take that bag, son.”

“Oh, no. We can handle this, Auntie. Thank you.” He said embracing the elderly person.

“My wife and I are just going to have a talk before we eat.” You froze when you heard him say the word ‘wife’. Yes, there’s no mistaking it. You really are Park Sunghoon’s wife.

When you glanced at the woman, there’s not a trace of surprise marred her serene face, which puzzled you.

“Alright, you know where to go when you two want to eat.” She smiled softly.

Sunghoon guided you upstairs to the room where you’re staying.

The room was definitely Sunghoon, very neat and manly. The walls were painted white, accommodating the rich hue of the big bed and built-in cabinets. Everything was well placed and clean.

“You may find my room dull and boring.” He said as he placed your bag on the side of the dresser. “But you may refurnish it however you like. Have the walls painted, the curtains changed. Just don’t put too much pink.”

You blushed at what he said, you were a girl who has a deep obsession with color pink ever since. And it seems like he still remembers that about you. But as much as you wanted to renovate the room and make it appear more your style, you wouldn’t do so. You liked the room as it was.

You didn’t notice Sunghoon approaching, so you gasped when you felt your husband pulling you by the waist closer to him.

“Let’s talk.”

“Y-yes, of course – Sunghoon!” You let out a small scream as the strong man lifted you up, and you had no choice but to wrap your arms around his shoulders.

“Sunghoon, what the hell are you doing?”

“I was supposed to carry you over the threshold, but I knew that you would snap at me if Aunt Chul sees us.” He answered with a gorgeous grin on his face. For a minute, he looked like the boy you used to know.

The guy you used to love.

But no matter how handsome the young man appeared to you now, you still couldn’t stop the seething the anger in your heart towards him.

“And you think I wouldn’t do that now? I did that once before, I could do it again.”

“Oh, trust me. I’m more prepared this time.” He said with a twinkle in his eyes. He dropped you onto the bed and hovered above you. You gasped for air when you felt his hard body on top of yours. You were sure that when you entered this room, the AC was on, but for some reason the air became thick and hot and filled with desire.

“I t-thought we’re going to talk?” Your voice was shaky and far different from you challenging voice earlier.

“We are. We’ll talk like this.” He lowered his head and nestled into your neck. You had never been intimate with any man. This was new to you. Your heart was beating wildly and you afraid Sunghoon would hear it.

You felt so warm, it was as if your bones were melting. It felt good to be this close to him. And he had been hugging you for a while now. He was the only man who could make you feel extreme emotions.

“I told them about us.” You heard him mumble, his hot breath licking your cold neck.

“You… what?” You asked, disoriented.

“I told everyone in this house about us. Even my dad that’s currently in Japan.” He lifted his head and looked at you as if you as if he wanted to know what you were thinking, if not to absorb your very soul.

“You told them about our agreement?”

“No, I only told them that we were getting married. That I couldn’t wait about Dad’s arrival. That we saw each other again, and instantly fell in love. So make sure to be a loving wife to me, especially in front of them.”

As if he needed to say it. “Of course. But I hope you don’t forget about the other part of the agreement. The money, Sunghoon. I need it.”

“I didn’t forget about that. I’ll give it to your brother as soon as I see him.”

“Glad to hear tha—“

Sunghoon slowly lowered his head, your eyes widened. “Wait, what are you-“

“You’re mine, Y/n. Including your body.” He said with his tempting mouth.

You wanted to stop him and tell him to stop what he was doing, but no words came out of your lips. Instead, a sound coming from your stomach halted your husband’s advances. You didn’t know whether to feel embarrassed or thankful. You were saved, not by the bell, but by your tummy.

God! Sunghoon didn’t need to smile, amusement was in his eyes.

“Maybe we should eat first.” Sunghoon withdrew from being pressed against you, stood up, and extended his hand towards you.

“Come.” You hesitantly took his hand and stood up as well, feeling quite embarrassed.

“Do you still know the way to the dining room?” He asked as you refused to meet his gaze, just nodding in response.

“Do you mind going there alone? I just needed to call someone. I’ll join you in a few minutes.”

You just nodded again and quickly left the room. Usually, after the wedding comes the honeymoon. Or in your case, funnymoon.

The moment you—or rather, his wife—stepped outside, Sunghoon finally let go of the smile he had been holding back.

Yes, you had become matured and become tough over the past few years, but in many ways, you still hadn’t really changed. You were still funny, cute, adorable, and his.

His previously bright face was now replaced by a blank expression. Finally, Heeseung would experience what it was like to lose someone important to him. The only difference is that no one would die.

He wouldn’t hurt you, at least, not intentionally ang physically. Never. Heeseung was still lucky that Sunghoon had some semblance of a heart left.

All he wanted was to emotionally torture him. He would make his heart bleed in sorrow, until he would beg him to stop.

And that would start now.

He picked up his phone and dialed a number. On the third ring, the person he was trying to reach answered.

“Yes, hello?”

His grip on the device tightened upon hearing the voice of the man he despises.

“Heeseung.”

He could taste the bitterness in his own voice. The man on the other line wasn’t able to respond immediately, so he continued.

“I heard you’re not in korea right now.”

“No, I’m not. What do you need, Sunghoon?”

He asked directly, without preamble.

Nothing, you’re the one who’s going to need something from me.

“Nothing, really. But if I were you, I’d go back to korea right now.”

He could already see the furrow on his former friend’s face. Soon he would face his range, but instead of being afraid, he would actually be glad to see it.

“What do you mean by that?”

“It’s Y/n. She left your house and she’s with me now. Too bad you weren’t there when she left.”

It was a shame for Sunghoon the he couldn’t see firsthand how the person on the other line is reacting.

He bet it would be priceless.

“You son of a bitch. What did you do to her?!”

He heard the grinding of his interlocutor’s teeth making him chuckle sarcastically.

“You asshole!”

“Yeah, Heeseung. Curse me all you want, but I’ll make sure that you will never get see your sister again. I will make you pay for all the things you did. Prepare yourself because I will take you to the hell you put me through.”

He ended the call. With his hands shaking, he exhaled sharply. He forced himself to calm down before he began to walk out of the room.

Maybe he shouldn’t have gone to the dining room just yet. He’s still feeling the anger coursing through his body, and he didn’t want anyone to see him like that, especially you.

But when he saw your beautiful face with a smile plastered on it while chatting with Aunt Chul, the heavy emotions enveloping him suddenly dissipated.

While looking at you glowing face, he lost the bitterness and pain that he had been feeling. Your bright smile simply made the pain go away. He was certain of what he was feeling. About his fear ang pain going away.

He took a deep breath once again ang approached the two, specifically you. He leaned down and kissed you on the forehead, disregarding the watchful eyes of the elderly person nearby.

“What are you two talking about?” He asked. Aunt Chul smiled at him and seemed to chat with him like a child.

“I never knew Y/n had a bakeshop in town. If I’m not mistaken, one of the helpers bought the bread I liked there. Turns out Y/n was the owner.”

He sat beside you and held your hand, giving it a tight squeeze. “Yeah, her pastries and sweets are indeed famous in town.” He stated, smiling proudly.

“Y/n also told me the she hasn’t had a boyfriend. She had suitors, but didn’t accept any of them.” The woman gossiped.

“Auntie!” You playfully reprimanded the her.

Sunghoon threw a glance at you. “Oh?”

His face lit up, secretly smiling to himself. So it was likely that the guy named Jake whom your employees were referring to was you suitor. He suddenly felt relieved. He glanced at your plate that is still empty.

“You haven’t eaten yet?” He asked you as you shook your head in response.

“Not yet. I was busy chatting with auntie.”

“Tell you what, Sunghoon. Your wife was just really waiting for you to come here.” Aunt Chul remarked.

“Alright, I’ll leave you two love birds alone to enjoy your food.”

Once the two of you were left alone, Sunghoon couldn’t help but let a smile spread across his face.

“So, you were waiting for me, huh?” He said teasingly.

“I wasn’t waiting for you. The conversation with Auntie just really hit the spot.”

“Yeah, sure. Let’s eat.”

They ate in silence. You sat beside him quietly with your head bowed as you eat. You were like some kind of a shy teenager sitting next to her crush.

Sunghoon smiled a little as he remembered their happy memories. You were just like this back then when you two are being teased together. You would blush furiously and he just enjoy the teasing.

“I’ll go upstairs to take a shower ang get changed.” You said after he was done eating.

But before you could fully stand up, he pulled you back into the chair and bestowed a gentle kiss on your lips.

“Please don’t tempt me like that.” Your eye widened and your lips parted in surprise. Your face reddened and he couldn’t stop himself from grinning. You quickly stood up and rushed away from him.

Well, it was useless since no matter what you do, you were already his. Nothing could ever separate you from him, not even your brother.

Sunghoon’s smile faded, and his eyes grew cold.

You would be forever his, and you had no idea of what the future lies ahead of you.

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

Where are you going?” Sunghoon asked you as he entered your room. He saw your reflection from the mirror in front. There was a knot in his forehead as if knew something that displeased him.

You stopped combing your hair as you sigh. Last night was bad enough. You both were sharing the same room. You didn’t sleep well enough to the fear that he might creep up on you.

“I have a shop to run, Sunghoon. I have something to take care of at work.”

“There’s no need for that. I’ll hire someone to manage your business.”

You turned to look at him. “You don’t expect me to just be here all day.”

“Actually, I do.” He picked up an envelope that was laying on the side table. “You don’t need to work. I could provide you with everything.” You took a deep breath as if drawing upon a thousand reserves of patience.

“I need to bake, Sunghoon. I want to bake.”

“Well, if you miss doing that, just go to the kitchen. You have everything you need there. You could even bake with Aunt Chul’s help.”

“But—“

“It’s still a no, Y/n.” He already left the room before you could even say anything. You were left staring blankly at the closed door.

This can’t be happening! You quickly exited the room and looked for Sunghoon. As you decended the great staircase, you saw him entering the study room. Sitting on his swivel chair while looking so irritatingly handsome.

“Is this part of your revenge, Sunghoon? Taking my love for baking away from me?”

He gave you a deadpan look. “No.” Sunghoon answered then continued scanning the documents he was holding.

You sigh exasperatedly then sat on the chair in front of his table. You forcefully hit the table to get his attention. “Sunghoon, it wasn’t part of our agreement that I wouldn’t be allowed to enter my own shop.”

You explained, your voice filled with restraint. “I love my work. I love baking. I need to be there.”

Your husband leaned back on his chair, feeling your intense gaze piercing through him. “There’s a big chance you brother would come looking for you there. Which I don’t want to happen. So you’re not going anywhere.”

“But—” You were about to say something when your gaze shot to the door as it suddenly opened.

“What the fuck is going on?” Your brother Heeseung’s voice echoed inside Sunghoon’s room.

You quickly stood up from your seat and stared at your brother with wide eyes. You weren’t expecting him to barge in especially since you knew he wasn’t in korea.

“See for yourself, Lee.” Your husband responded with a blank face.

“Shut the fuck up, I’m not talking to you.” Heeseung complained angrily and turned to you. “What is this? Why are you here Y/n? Why are you with him? Damn it!”

“I…” Your lips quivered. “We got married, Hee. Sunghoon and I got married.”

“No. You’ve got to be kidding me.” His brown furrowed. “What were you thinking, Y/n? Why did you marry him?! You didn’t even consult me about it, for Pete’s sake!” He was clearly stressed out.

“I-it was all so sudden. I wasn’t able to tell you because—”

“Did he threaten you? Hurt you?” He approached you and lifted up your chin to scan your face to see if you’re okay. Your brother looked really worried. Scared, even.

You heard Sunghoon chuckled sarcastically. “Hurt her? Oh, I’m not quite sure if I want to hear that from the person who did something more than that.”

Heeseung gave him a dark look. “You son of a—”

“Stop it, Hee!” You restrained him just as he was about to charge at Sunghoon. “Don’t hurt him. I’m married to him now and I love him.”

“Bullshit!” He shouted, causing you to step back at the intensity of his anger in his voice. Your brother looked furious and dangerous, as if he was ready to kill someone.

He grabbed your wrist and draggedyou towards the door. “I’m taking you home with me.”

“I’m afraid that’s not possible.” Sunghoon approached you both and grabbed your waist, forcefully pulling you away from your brother. You could feel his warm and hard body against yours.

“She’s my wife, Lee. And she’s staying here with me whether you like it or not.”

“Damn you.” Heeseung clenched his fist, fighting the urge to punch your husband.

“Please, Hee.” You pleaded. You believed that you were doing the right thing. You were doing this for the two most important people in your life. ‘I’m okay here. Don’t worry about me.”

Your brother pressed his lips firmly. “I promise to get you out of here, Y/n. And I’ll make sure that this bastard pays for this.” He assured you, looking at his childhood friend with a stern look.

“Oh?” Sunghoon smiled, but there was no trace of humor in his expression. “Please, go ahead. Entertain me.”

With heavy strides, her brother left the room ang slammed the door. You tried breaking free from Sunghoon once you were sure that your brother had left. But he refused to let you go. He tilted your chin up and looked straight into your eyes. His cold and dark eyes reminded her of danger, and your knees started to weaken.

“Did you see what happened? It would be a total chaos if you and your brother see each other. Especially since it happened in front of me.” He loosened his grip on you.

“So don’t get your hopes up, Y/n, because I assure you that nothing—no one—not even your brother, can separate us.”

If only they were a normal couple, in a way you would take his words a sweet promise.

“You’re stuck with me, forever.” He breathed.

And without any warning, he captured your lips, in a hot and mind-blowing kiss.

You’ve been in the bathtub for almost an hour now without having any intentions of getting up. Your mind seems to be drowning in deep thoughts about what happened earlier.

Seeing Sunghoon and you brother at each other’s throats was not a good sight. Hearing their heated conversation didn’t do your heart any good either. It’s like the two of them were about to fight in boxing arena earlier.

You sighed heavily and poked the rubber ducky in the tub. You immersed yourself even more until the water level reached your nose.

You have other concerns right now. The night came and you’re starting to freak out because you’re once again going to sleep in the same bed with ‘husband’.

You remembered him saying,

“You are mine, Y/n. Including your body.”

It’s true that money was the main reason why you two got married. But that doesn’t change the fact that you are legally married and he could do whatever he pleased to do to you.

You agreed to give yourself to him in exchange for the money that he would lend for your estate.

It’s just cliché if you think about it. The handsome and wealthy wanted wanted the woman in exchange for his help in saving their sinking business. But in the end, the man falls in-love with the woman because of her beauty and kindness. You giggled, finding the story a bit funny rather than romantic.

But deep inside, you knew that the story was way far from your story with Sunghoon. The reason why he wanted you was crystal clear.

He wanted revenge.

And you were happened to be the one he chose to get back at your brother. But you couldn’t bring yourself to deny the fact that you still loved him the same way you did back then.

“Y/n?” You flinched when you heard Sunghoon’s voice calling for you. “You’ve been there for over an hour already. Get out or I’ll break this goddamn door.”

Your eyes widened as you quickly stood up from the bathtub. “Wait!” You grabbed the towel and hurriedly dried your body.

Sunghoon started to count. Damn it, when did he get so impatient?

Panicking, you wrapped the towel at your slightly damped body and opened the door, slightly annoyed.

You were greeted by Sunghoon’s tall figure, and you felt yourself melting under the intensity of his gaze upon you.

Despite your height of five seven, you still felt small in comparison to his towering figure. He looked vey godly in his naturally pale skin, dark hair, and strong muscular body. He was staring down at you, his eyes dark and intense with lust.

You tightened your grip on the fabric that is barely covering your still wet body. You could feel the water dripping from your hair, down to your skin. It was quite strange that you didn’t feel any coldness. Sunghoon’s stare was scorching hot.

You absentmindedly licked you lower lip with your tongue. The man’s eyes turned black and desire heated your blood.

He moved closer, grabbing you by your waist and gave you a hot kiss; sucking not only your energy but also your soul. Your hand automatically went to his neck while the other tried to touch his hard chest; taking his warmth, feeling him, loving him.

“Y/n…” His voice was rough and growly. He held your waist and pressed both your bodies even closer together. You gasped when you felt his readiness. The peaks of your breasts instantly hardened and you felt hot liquid pooled in your core.

You tried to deepen the kiss. He suddenly lifted you up without ever breaking the kiss as he carried you towards the bed. He gently laid you down on the bed while you continued to share a passionate and sloppy kiss.

A protest escaped from your mouth when Sunghoon stopped kissing you. You focused your blurry eyes and found him slowly undressing himself in front of the bed.

He was seductively taking his clothes off, obviously teasing you. The desire in his eyes were evident. You felt that he could also see it in your eyes. You glanced down at him and you gulped. Could you even handle that? He was big, hard, and powerful.

You were scared, but you were also eager to have him inside you at the same time.

He joined you in the bed. He hovered above you ang captured your lips once again. Feeling lightheaded from the sensation you felt, you barely noticed as Sunghoon effortlessly removed the towel that was covering your heated body.

You gasped when you felt his big hands moulding your soft yet heavy breasts. His lips travelled down your neck and sucked on your sensitive skin.

“S-sunghoon—I…

” You involuntarily pulled at his hair as he lowered his mouth to your breasts. He took the pinkish tip and sucked on it like a baby. He mercilessly played with your nipple while all you could do was moan helplessly. It felt so good and you wanted more.

His lips went back to your mouth and sucked your tongue while his hands were roaming around your delicate curves. The warmth of his hands made your nerves sizzle. You could feel the blazing desire for each other consuming you, separating you from the real world.

Unable to resist, you also explored his body with your hands. You started touching his chest down to his delicious abs. You heard him hiss when you touched his raging manhood.

“Fuck,” Sunghoon cursed under his breath. He opened his eyes and saw you looking at him with lust in your eyes.

You wanted to pleasure him and make him go crazy, just as he did to you. You started to move your hand up and down his thick and swollen shaft. You could hear his heavy breathing and it encouraged you to continue what you were doing. You have never felt so powerful ang sexy in your whole existence.

“I won’t last long if you keep doing that. I may not be able to satisfy you, baby.” He said as you wrapped your Legs around his waist, forcefully pressing your bodies together. You moaned when you felt his huge manhood pressing on your lower abdomen. “Then, take me now.”

“You’re not ready yet..”

“Oh, but I am. I am all ready for you, Sunghoon.” You shamelessly answered. All you knew was that you wanted him to take you completely and repeatedly.

Sunghoon bit his bottom lip as his eyes blazed with desire for you. He rubbed his thick shaft on your wet and waiting core and you couldn’t help but to quiver at the contact.

“Please...” You whispered pleadingly.

Without a word, Sunghoon spread your thighs, exposing the most intimate part of your body to him. Your cheeks burn and you tried to hide your face into the pillow, but he didn’t allow it.

“Don’t, you’re beautiful.” He said, gently caressing your cheeks.

Sunghoon positioned himself between your legs as you readied yourself for your first intimate union. You looked at him with plead with a gasp leaving your lips in anticipation.

In one heavy thrust, he entered you. Sunghoon kissed you hard to contain your sobs and to help subside the pain. You could feel him throbbing inside you, waiting for you to adjust to his size.

“I’ll go slow,” he whispered on your lips.

You shook your head. You wanted to feel his possessiveness and carnal desire towards you. You wanted him fast and deep inside of you because if not, you would definitely go crazy. You lifted your hips, subtly deepening his conscience.

“Fuck!” He cursed hotly. He firmly gripped your waist, restraining you. “Don’t do that.”

“Please, Sunghoon. I want you.” Your incredibly gorgeous man inhaled sharply then kissed you hard on the mouth. His tongue toyed with yours, seeking for your sweet and wild taste. Your hands roamed around his body, from his perfect six-pack to his sexy ass.

Sunghoon started to move again and you eagerly met his long and deep thrust. You could feel him stretching you the walls of your insides. The pain was now replaced with pleasure. Cries and sobs filled the room. You could hear the sound of his flesh slamming against yours.

“Baby…” He was taking her ruthlessly. Rough and fast. You tried to match his pace and intensity.

You could feel him brutally sliding in and out of you, the pleasure made you shiver and you couldn’t help but to ask for more. You tightly wrapped your legs around his waist to allow him to penetrate deeper inside you. You wanted all of him, wanting to give him all of you in return.

“Sunghoon..” You could feel your release coming. You grabbed his neck and kissed him deeply. “I’m cumming!”

“Me too, baby.” He panted.

“Me too..” You clung into each other as if your lives depended on one another.

Together, you both reached the joy brought by your solitude. You were still experiencing minor shivers pleasure when Sunghoon kissed again, fully taking your breath away. You kissed him back and embraced him tightly.

You wondered if you could ever own him the same way he owned your—heart, body, and soul.

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

You woke up by the feeling of small kisses prepping against your back. You gasped when you felt Sunghoon suck your neck.

“Good morning,” He whispered into your ear. You turned to greet him back but he was fast to capture your lips. He tasted so good it was hard for you to suppress a moan. But before things could get any further, Sunghoon pulled away. That’s when you noticed that he was already showered, dressed, and he looked like a meal.

You bit your lip, staring at him.

“Good morning.” You blushingly greeted. He reached out and planted one last kiss on your forehead.

Sunghoon, what are we?

“I need to get out, I just have something to take care of. I’ll be back before dinner.” He stood away from the bed.

“See you later.”

Okay. I love you. But you didn’t say that and just nodded in response.

You got out of bed as soon as he left. Your face flashed as soon as you realized that you were naked. You grabbed the bathrobe and wore it, remembering the times you and Sunghoon shared sexual moments in the past night. Your body ached but it was nothing because your lovemaking last night was heavenly.

But before you could completely dwell in the memories, you headed towards the bathroom to soak in warm water.

After taking a bath, you went to the kitchen to see if Aunt Chul was there. And you immediately smiled upon seeing her.

“Oh, dear, you’re here! Looks like you slept well last night, huh?” She said with a hint of teasing. You wrinkled your nose and looked away with an embarrassed face.

“Are you up to something, Auntie?”

“Oh, it’s nothing much. I’m just making a list of groceries to buy. You should to the garden, Dear. Have your breakfast with Mr. Park there. I’ll bring the food for the both of you.”

You paused upon hearing what she said. “M-Mr. Park is here?”

“Yes, he arrived earlier this morning,” She said while inspecting the grocery list.

“He must have been eager to come home as soon as he found out about you and Sunghoon getting married. After all these years, who would’ve known that you two would really end up together, right?” She continued when you weren’t able to respond immediately.

“By the way, I heard from one of the helpers that your brother came here yesterday.” Her eyes settled on you softly. “It’s good that he and Sunghoon have reconciled. Thank you, Dear. You managed to bring them back together.” You smiled wryly.

You couldn’t say that there was a price to pay for your marriage to Sunghoon. That your brother and husband nearly killed each other when they met yesterday. Where were all the people here yesterday? It was impossible that no one heard the constant shouting. Or maybe they were just quiet and only talked amongst themselves when they’re alone.

“Oh, it was nothing.” You added despite the nervousness you felt.

“Then what are you still doing here, Dear? You should go ahead and meet with Mr. Park.” She nudges you.

“Don’t bother bringing the food there, Auntie. I’ll be back here shortly.” You said before turning away.

Your heart pounded faster. It’s natural to feel nervous, especially when facing your father-in-law, right? If Mr. Park’s late wife were still alive, your nervousness might be even more intense.

Like Sunghoon, his father exudes an authoritative aura. Dominant. Yes, you sometimes saw glimpses of him when you were children, but he would only stare at you with his gaze and turn away.

You swallowed hard when you saw him.

“Come here, child. Have a seat.” You moved closer and sat on the chair that is opposite to him. “Good day, Mr. Park.”

“Dad,” he corrected, causing you to blush. “Good day to you too, Dear. How are you?” Something about the old man had changed. He seemed more approachable now. He was easier to talk to and his once sharp eyes was now softer.

“I’m doing great, D-dad. How about you?”

“Well now that my son is married, I feel more at ease now.” He answered, smiling. “I was planning to matchmake Sunghoon with another woman, but it seems it was no longer necessary.”

You stomach knotted at the thought of Sunghoon marrying someone else.

“I’m so glad that he married you. He deserves to be happy after everything that he had been through.”

Your eyes softened at his words.

“Sohyun’s death really hit him hard.” You said with hint of sadness in your voice.

“Yes, but that’s just one part of the story.”

“What do you mean by that?” Confusion took over you.

Mr. Park sighed heavily.

“Are you sure you want to hear it?” You hesitated but still nodded.

“You do know that Sunghoon is my illegitimate, right? It was a shock that he just suddenly appeared in our lives. We didn’t know what to do and what to feel about it. My wife, of course, hated him, and so did my parents. Even I wasn’t been a good father to him. Almost everyone knew that he was my illegitimate child, but you didn’t know that he wasn’t loved and accepted.”

You looked down in shocked, unable to look at you father-in-law in the eyes.

“I remembered, when he was a kid, he would just shut himself inside his room and wouldn’t talk to anybody. The only person who accepted and loved him was his sister, Sohyun. He changed because of her. That’s why losing her caused him so much pain.”

He took a deep breath as if drawing strength from it to continue.

“And when her sister died, he became even colder than before. And I wasn’t able to do anything for him.”

You just looked down. You didn’t know what to say. Now you understand why Sunghoon’s anger to your brother was so intense. Sohyun was Sunghoon’s salvation.

Yes, you know how painful it is to lose someone you love, but you weren’t able to consider how big of a loss his sister's absence would be for him. Especially since Sunghoon thinks that only his sister Sohyun was the only person who loved him.

You’re not denying that your brother had his faults in what happened, but it was all an accident.

You wanted to help Sunghoon. You wanted him to go back to the way he was, but how will you do that?

You can no longer bring back the one person that Sunhoon treasured the most.

Your hopes to bring back the man you love was slowly shattering to pieces. You knew you can’t heal the deep wound he had in his heart. You didn’t have that power. You would never have that power. Him seeing you would always make him remember the pain that he felt back then.

He could never move on with you around. He would never be happy.

Mr. Park took your hands and you looked at him. His eyes were read, and as if he were to close them, tears would fall from it.

“I don’t know why and how it happened, but I’m thankful that you met again and that my son and your brother finally reconciled. I saw life in his eyes earlier and I got the feeling that he was back once again to his old self. Thank you, Y/n.”

You felt a lump in your throat and you were having a hard time breathing. Your heart ached and your eyes hurt.

You wanted to shake your head and tell your father-in-law that his son still resents your brother. That he shouldn’t be grateful because you can’t help Sunghoon forget the painful past and his resentment towards your brother.

Memories flooded in your mind, memories you’d tried try to forget. Things that only you and your brother knew. Sunghoon is completely mistaken.

“Dear, are you okay?” The worried man tried to gently gain your attention. You swallowed to clear the lump in your throat. Your eyes were stinging but you put on a brave face.

“Oh, I’m fine, Dad. Don’t worry.”

“Are you sure?” He asked, clearly not convinced.

“Yes. If you may excuse me.” He nodded. “Alright, dear. You go eat breakfast.” You smiled and turned away to walk towards the house.

It was a big mistake that you married Sunghoon. You weren’t sure where to begin to make things right.

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

Heeseung stared at him with narrowed eyes, scrutinizing him. Sunghoon handed him the check for the agreed-upon amount that you had with him.

“I don’t need your charity.” Heeseung said, looking at the check that was in Sunghoon’s hands with disdain. “You should leave before I hurt you.”

Sunghoon placed the check on the table and pushed it towards him.

“I don’t care if you accept this or not. I don’t care if you continue to suffer. But would you let your sister’s sacrifice go to waste just because of your worthless pride?”

“Damn you! I knew it! My sister wouldn’t dare to marry without a significant reason.” Sunghoon clenched his fist at what your brother told him. He hated Heeseung with a passion, but that seemed to intensify upon hearing what he said.

“So, that’s why she married you. You promised to give us money. I don’t need your money, Sunghoon. Give me back my sister!”

“Y/n is already married to me. And I’m not sorry to say this but I’m not returning her back to you.”

Heeseung stood up and went close to Sunghoon angrily.

“You piece of shit! And what are you planning to do? Take her away from me to completely hurt me? Don’t you dare lay a finger on her, she has nothing to do with the problem between us!”

“I know that. But I also know that keeping her away from you will make you suffer.” He laughed sarcastically.

“So what? You want me to die of sadness and guilt? It that what you want? Then let me tell you this, Sunghoon. You are just wasting your time because I already died a decade ago.” Heeseung took a deep breath.

“So please, If you’re just going to hurt my sister—”

“Oh, I’m not going to hurt her physically, Heeseung. I’ll just—you know? Make fer fall for me and make her my own personal slave.”

“You bastard…” Heeseung could barely speak out of anger.

“Ah, Heeseung. I’ve known that for a long time now.” Sunghoon laughed.

“My sister would never fall for someone like you. Your cheap trick won’t work on her. And before you even execute your plan, I’ll make sure that I’ve already taken her back from you.”

“Hmm… We’ll see.”

He turned away to leave. He had no intention of hurting you. He didn't want to make you fall in love with him and lead you on for nothing. But he needed to say those to infuriate your brother.

Sunghoon thought he would feel satisfied after what he’d done, but what he felt was far from satisfaction. This wasn't what he had expected. He felt defeated and sadder than before.

He got into the car and looked at the image of your house from a distance. The image of sweet little Y/n waving at him whenever it was time for him to go home appeared so vividly in his mind.

‘My sister would never fall for someone like you.’

The pain it caused shot straight to his heart. His lips formed into a thin line. Sunghoon felt the intense frustration and anger.

“Fuck!” He slammed his hands on the steering wheel of his car and took a deep breath. He forced himself to calm down before starting the car and speeded away from the place.

Sunghoon caught a sight of you in front of the closet, organizing your clothes. You looked troubled that you didn’t even notice his presence. Your eyes were focused on the clothes you were holding but your mind seemed far away. Sunghoon came close to you. He hugged you from behind, seeking your heat and filling his lungs with your addicting scent.

The moment he felt your soft body, the anger inside him vanished. But in his surprise, you quickly broke free from his embrace and moved away. His gaze immediately sought your face, and he saw fear in your eyes. He felt a punch on his gut and heat spread in his body.

“Good evening. Have you eaten?” His voice was low and cold. He restrained himself from reaching out to hug you again.

You avoided his gaze and continues to focus on what you were doing. “Yeah, I already ate. I’m sorry if I wasn’t able to wait for you.”

He didn’t know why he saw fear in your eyes. He also had no idea why his wife was acting like this when they were just doing fine earlier this morning. But there’s on this he was sure of. He was hurt by you actions.

“I’m sorry for coming home late. I had to talk to the workers earlier about harvesting mangoes tomorrow.” He explained

When you met his gaze again, Sunghoon wished you hadn’t done that at all, because your lifeless eyes further convinced him that something is definitely wrong.

“Ah, I see. It’s better if you eat dinner so you can rest early,” you said as you closed the closet after you finished tidying up. You faced him.

“I’ll be at the library for a while.”

“I already gave the money to you brother.” He suddenly said, making you flinch. “We also talked earlier. More like argues and accused each other… But as you can see, I don’t have bruises, so I can say that we didn’t get physical.” He couldn’t focus on anything else as he was focused of trying to figure you out.

“I see,” You replied shortly. “Okay, I’ll leave you alone for now.” You turned away and Sunghoon couldn’t stop himself from grabbing your arm and forcibly turning you to face him.

“What’s wrong, Y/n?” You avoided his eyes and it upset him even more.

“Nothing, I’m just missing the bakery. I’m not comfortable with someone else managing it.” You removed his hand that was holding you. “Clean yourself up before you eat.”

You began to walk out of the room. All he could do was watch your retreating back.

He remembered Heeseung’s words that you could never love someone like him.

After a long time, Sunghoon felt scared. No matter what he says or how hard he tries to hide, the truth will still come for him and slap him hard in the face.

He didn’t just marry you for the sake of revenge. He didn’t simply want you. He needed you like air and sunshine. He loved you.

And the thought that you couldn't love a person like him was like poison, it was slowly killing him.

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

His sister Sohyun was making a flower necklace and little Sunghoon would just watch her. He was like a rabbit surrounded by colorful butterflies. It was quite fun to watch.

He turned away from his sister and looked around. They were under the biggest and oldest mango tree on the farm. The shade was refreshing. The leaves of the tree underneath were bright grees, and the sun was shining brightly.

He wasn’t used to such places. It’s like he wants to go back in his room and hide. But for some reason, Sunghoon felt safe.

“What are you thinking about, Hoonie?” His sister noticed that his thoughts had gone far once again.

“Are you thinking about locking yourself in your room again?”

He didn’t respond and she continued. “Didn’t I tell you that I’ll protect you from the bad people? You don’t need to be scared and hide away. I’m always here by your side, you know?”

He felt her smile even though he wasn’t looking at her. He acted as if no one was there and that he didn’t hear anything.

His sister chuckled.

“Don’t you know that there are scarier monsters in the dark, like in your room? They eat children who are always alone. So, if I were you, I would always stay outside and be in the light. If you don’t, the monsters will come and eat you alive. Do you want that to happen?”

No. He didn’t want that. He was afraid of monsters and didn’t want them to eat him.

“So, remember this, okay?” Even if I’m not by your side, all you need to do is find the light. And I promise you, you will be okay.”

He’ll be okay? Is it that why he feels safe when he’s here outside? Is it that why he feels relaxed while the fresh wind fills the bottom of the sun?

If that the case, maybe his sister is right. He shouldn’t stay in the dark and hide himself.

A small smile crept onto his lips. He glanced at his sister, but all the remained under the tree was the flowers she had been holding earlier.

Sunghoon woke up and realized that it was all just a dream. It was a scene years ago where he and his sister were still young.

Light. ‘Just find the light and you’ll be okay’.

Y/n….

He reached for the other side of the bed to pull you closer, but his hand found no body. He sprang up from the bed, his heart pounding when he saw that you weren’t there.

Exhausted, he had fallen asleep quickly last night and hadn’t noticed whether you laid beside him or not.

He usually woke early, but today you had beaten him to it. He was no longer accustomed to waking up without seeing your face first thing in the morning.

He hurriedly got up and checked the bathroom. You weren’t there. He went downstairs to see if you were in the living room, but you weren’t there either. You also weren’t in the dining room nor the kitchen when he checked.

‘My sister would never fall for someone like you.’

“Fuck!” He harshly ran his fingers through his hair. His body shook. He felt helpless. You couldn’t have left him.

No, not you. If you left—

“Sunghoon?” He felt disappointed when he heard Aunt Chul’s voice instead of yours. “What happened to you? Are you okay?”

“Have you seen Y/n?” Sunghoon asked, about to lose his mind. Confusion was evident on the older woman’s face.

“She’s at the garden, having coffee with your father.” Aunt Chul explained.

Sunghoon’s rapidly beating hard gradually slowed. His breathing turned to normal. He thanked the elderly woman and then left the kitchen. In less than a minute, he was already in the garden. The sunlight greeted him first before he saw a familiar figure.

You were really there…

You were standing in front of a bed of roses and glowing beautifully under the bright sun. He let out a deep breath before approaching you. He pulled your waist and planted a kiss on your temple, not minding his father who was sitting not far from you.

He gently moved away from you before intently looking at your face. ‘Good morning.”

“Ah… G-good morning.” Perhaps due to surprise, your tongue got all twisted. Your cheeks turned red.

His father cleared his throat. “Well, good morning to you, Sunghoon. You two go ahead and have breakfast; I’ll head up to my room,”

“Aren’t you going to join us for breakfast, Dad?” you asked quickly. The panic in your voice did not escape Sunghoon’s notice.

The old man smiled at you, which surprised Sunghoon. In all the years he had been with his father, it seemed like the first time he smiled like that in front of him. And when did you start calling his father ‘Dad’?

“I’m fine with coffee and the newspaper, Dear. Enjoy your breakfast.” he said before entering the mansion. Before you could follow the old man, Aunt Chul arrived with breakfast. Another helper following her, carrying drinks.

Aunt Chul set the breakfast of the glass table and tidied up Mr. Park’s coffee area. “There’s rice, meat, and some side dishes. There’s also fresh orange juice and hot coffee. Do you need anything else?”

“No, Auntie Chul. Thank you.” Sunghoon nodded to the woman. She smiled and left with the helper.

He returned his attention to you. “Are we just going to stare at each other? Come—” You stepped back, and his hand stopped in mid-air as he tried to hold you. His jaw clenched, and he lowered his hand.

“Let’s eat.”

As you both sat down to eat, you ate quietly. He glanced at you every no and then, you still looked seemingly lost in thought like last night. He wanted to press you to tell him what was bothering you. But he’s afraid you might get scared and would move away completely.

“When did you become so close with Dad?” Sunghoon asked. You stopped eating and looked at him.

“We’re not that close, we just had a chance to talk and chat yesterday.” Sunghoon nodded and drank some orange juice before responding.

“Really? Is my pathetic childhood part of that?” He joked. You didn't know about that part of his life, and it's unlikely that his father would tell you about it.

“Yes.” His eyes quickly focused on you.

“He told me everything. How he regrets not having done anything for you before. That he regretted being an awful father to you. He said he disappointed you because he wasn’t a good father.”

Sunghoon stared at you. “Oh, really?” He tightened his grip on the cutlery that he was holding.

“Yes, really. I know you have a lot of resentment towards your dad, and I don’t blame you for that. But I felt his pain when we talked yesterday. I saw how sorry he was. I think he’s ready to make it up to you.”

“I refuse to talk about this,” He insisted firmly, but you were being stubborn and continued.

“Forgive your father. You shouldn’t live with hatred in your heart, Sunghoon. Free yourself from anger. It wouldn’t help you at all. You’ll only hurt yourself in the end.”

“Are you saying this to make me forgive your brother too?” You looked at him surprised.

“W-what? No!”

“Then stop talking about this!” he snapped.” “My father never loved me. I was nobody to him. I don’t feel anything for him, so I don’t need to forgive him. ”

“But—”

“no more buts, Y/n,” he interrupted. “I still have a lot to do at the farm. Excuse me.” He stood up and walked back to the mansion without looking back.

“Damn it!” You sadly watched him walk away until he disappeared. It hurts you to see him like that.

Maybe you can’t bring him back to how he used to be, the cheerful man you knew when his sister was still alive. Sohyun was Sunghoon’s light and sunshine. You can’t replace the woman in his life.

But perhaps, if you could mend the relationship between the father and son, maybe it could lessen Sunghoon’s bitterness towards the world. That’s all you know how to do right now. There’s no way he could possibly want your love. And even if you gave it to him fully and completely, it wouldn’t be enough to erase what you’ve done.

Yes, what you’ve done.

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

You’ve been in your private kitchen for an hour now. This is where you experiment with new breads and cakes, and you bake here whenever you have free time. You’ve probably been kneading the bread dough for half an hour now, but because of the deep thoughts that has been bothering you, it made you ignore the tingling sensation in your arms. You were not sure how many days you’ve been like this, but you knew it started the day you talked with Mr. Parks.

You hoped the reconciling your husband and his father will benefit him. It might make him see and feel the love that was taken from him. That might not be a bad idea.

But there’s one thing you thought of that wasn’t good. For you, at least. You planned to distance yourself from Sunghoon once you reconciled him with his father. And from now on, you would make every effort to steer clear of him as much as you could. You would find a way to get your marriage annulled and let him have a happy life.

Even if leaving him would kill you, you needed to accept that you were just not meant to be together. Your lower lip trembled. It would be best to stop baking for now, especially since it’s already late at night. Besides, with how sad you were, the person who might eat the bread would go depressed.

But you didn’t want the prepared dough to go to waste, so you set it aside to let it expand and set the timer for fifteen minutes. You broke free from your train of thoughts when you heard someone knock on the door.

“Come in!”

Who you saw was the last person you expected to see, it was your brother. “Y/n.”

“Hee? What are you doing here?”

“Can we talk?” He looked haggard.

“Of course,” You quickly replied. You washed and wiped your hands, then took off your baking apron. You both exited the kitchen, and as you passed the baker, Uncle Yoo, you instructed him to take care of the bread you left in the kitchen.

“Is there a problem, Hee?” You asked as soon as you entered your small office. You both sat down on the couch near your desk.

“You don’t look well,” He remarked, ignoring your question.

“I can say the same for you.” You replied sharply.

He took a deep breath. “I talked to Sunghoon. I now understand why you got married to him.”

Your hand tightened on the fabric of your skirt. “I did that to help you.” And Sunghoon.

“I know. But because of that, you’ve been put in a difficult situation, and I’ll do my best to get you out of it.” He grasped your hands. “I’ll talk to my friends in the car racing industry. I’ll borrow money from them. We’ll return the check to Sunghoon and get you away from him as soon as possible.”

“Hee, I’m doing fine. You don’t have to do that.” You replied, but he didn’t seem to believe it. “Just use the money from Sunghoon. Besides, that was a payment, not a gift.” You insisted.

He shook his head.

“No, y/n. You don’t understand. When I talked to that bastard, he told me he’ll make you fall and will lead you to nothing.”

He breathed sharply. “I know you won’t give in to him, but I also know that guy won’t just give up so easily. So I want you to be more careful.” He tightened his grip on your hand and stared into your eyes.

“I don’t want you to get hurt.”

You understood that your brother just wants to look out for you, but the warning came way too late. You have already fallen in love with Sunghoon a long time ago.

“Don’t worry about me.” You said. “I’ll be fine.”

He leaned back on the couch. “I can’t believe Sunghoon would do something like that just so he could get back at me.” Me too, I didn’t know he would do that. You thought sadly.

“Here.” Heeseung handed you your phone. “I’ve been coming back to your shop for days, but you weren’t here every time I tried to look for you. I couldn’t contact you since your phone was left at home. I didn’t want to call the mansion’s landline because I was worried it might cause more problems with your husband.” You sighed and took the phone.

“Actually, I just snuck out today. He didn’t allow me to come here because he knew we might see each other and he doesn’t want that.”

He gave a bitter smile. “Sunghoon wasn’t really joking about keeping us apart.” You also gave him a bitter smile. “Anyway, just call me if you need me.”

You nodded. “I will.”

You both sat there and talked for a few minutes before Heeseung said goodbye. You walked him outside to where his car was parked, and once he left, you turned back towards the shop.

But you hadn’t taken three steps when the door of a car opened, and to your surprise, your husband stepped out.

“That was Heeseung,” He said as he approached you, his eyes were hard and dark. You were speechless at the darkness on his expression.

“We’re going home.” He grabbed your arm forcefully.

“But my things—”

“I’ll send someone to collect your things tomorrow,” He snapped. Sunghoon seated you in the passenger seat before walking around to the driver’s side and getting into the car, slamming the door shut.

The drive back home was quiet. You could feel the tension in the air inside the car.

Once you arrived at the mansion, Sunghoon didn’t waste no time and immediately pulled you towards your shared bedroom. With every step closer to the room, you felt your heart beat faster and faster.

He locked the door as you entered the room.

“What did he say to you?” He asked demandingly. Unable to meet your husband’s gaze, you stared at the floor.

“H-he just asked how I was doing.”

“Asked how you were doing? You expect me to believe that?” He sarcastically chuckled. “He’s going to take you away from me, Y/n! He told me that. Now what? Were you two planning on how you’re going to escape me?”

You looked at him with wide eyes. “No!” You firmly denied. “He really just wanted to know how I was—”

“No, Y/n!” He shouted. “I know damn well he plans on taking you away from me…” He was pale and his eyes were wide with… fear? There was no anger plastered on his face. Instead, he looked like a lost child.

“And no! I will not let him! You will not leave me! I will not allow you to do that!”

He took big steps towards you. He was staring at you, as if commanding you not to move an inch. He pulled you close by the waist.

“Sunghoon…”

“I will not let you get away from me, Y/n. You will stay with me forever. Without warning, he leaned down to capture your lips. You closed your eyes, savoring the sweetness of your husband's kiss. You felt his need in the way he claimed your lips. You also felt the tenderness in his touch.

You gasped when you felt his hands cup your behind. And as you parted your lips, Sunghoon kissed you even more passionately. His tongue invaded your mouth, ravaging your sweet taste.

You felt your feet lift off the ground, and soon your back was on the soft mattress. His hard body pushed you down on the bed. Slightly tilting his face, he looked at you passionately. He leaned forward to kiss you again, more gently this time.

“You’re mine,” He whispered against your lips. You kissed him back eagerly. His lips trailed down to your neck, nibbling and licking your now flushed skin. His skilled hands crept inside your skirt.

A sexy moan escaped you mouth when his hand pushed your panties to one side and started to feel your hot and greedy wetness.

“Sunghoon!” You cried out as he pushed one finger deep inside you.

“I know, baby. You need me. I need you, too.” He removed your top and you felt your nippled harden. He took one erect tip into his mouth. You scratched his back in response to his action. You could only close your eyes and lose yourself in his lovemaking.

“Look at me, baby.” He demanded. You forcefully opened your eyes and looked at him. His hands moved faster and harder until you couldn’t take it anymore. “Cum for me.”

You whimpered and exploded into a million pieces. Feeling weak, you closed your eyes but immediately opened them when you felt him moved away from you. Your lips parted as you watched him undress in front of you.

In just a few seconds, he was on top of you again, fully naked. He took your skirt and panties off and threw them somewhere in the room. You remembered your phone was in your skirt, but that didn't matter right now.

His swollen shaft entered you without ceremony. He lifted one of your legs and rested it on his broad shoulders. Rotating his lips, Sunghoon pumped in and out of you almost roughly. You through your hips at him, meeting his every thrust.

“Yes, yes, baby..” He panted. “Cum with me, cum with me.”

You convulsed as you came. He continued burying himself inside of you in deep strokes, groaning as he climaxed. You felt him spill his hot seed inside you.

He collapsed on top of you. He shifted slightly and lay on his side of the bed to avoid completely weighing you with his weight. You heard him utter an oath and it made you clamp around his cock one more time.

Sunghoon’s hand found its way to your breast, softly kneading it as he sought your lips once again.

You both stayed in that position, eyes closed and embracing each other. You could feel your hearts beating as one.

“Tell me you won’t leave me,” Sunghoon spoike softly but firmly. You epened your eyes and saw the evident worry in his.

“I…”

“Say it,” He said demandingly.

“I… I won’t leave you.”

“Good.” He buried his head into your neck and whispered,

“I won’t let you even if you try.”

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

Sunghoon woke up with the feeling of his wife’s figure laying on his chest. You really looked angelic while sleeping.

He couldn’t help but to stroke your cheek and feel the softness of your lips. He wished to see this sight every morning for the rest of his life. That way, even if it was cloudy outside, he’d always wake up with his own brand of sunshine. He wrapped you in his arms and basked in your warmth. He vowed to never let you slip away from him.

He would do everything to tie you to him forever. And for that to happen, he needed to take action.

He gave you a tender kiss on the forehead before getting up to take a shower and prepare himself for the day. Upon leaving the room, he went straight to the garden where he suspected his father was.

“Dad,” He called. From his newspaper, her father glanced up at him.

“Good morning, son. Sit down. Do you need anything?” Sunghoon sat down in front of him.

“I’m thinking of taking my wife on a belated honeymoon trip.”

His forehead creased. “Where are you planning on going?”

“Japan. I also wanted to visit Grandma and Grandpa.” They had never been close to him, but they knew your family. “I’d be grateful if your secretary could arrange everything for me and my wife.”

He folded the newspaper and placed it on the table. “Why does this seem sudden? What about the farm? I’m getting old, Sunghoon. I can’t manage everything anymore.”

“We have good people here, Dad. They are all hardworking and trustworthy. My manager could take over, so I don’t think you have anything to worry about.” His father fell silent for a moment, deep in thought over what he had just said. “Alright, I understand. When are you going back home?”

Sunghoon shrugged. “I don’t know. As long as possible?” His father’s lips twitched and his eyes filled with profound curiosity.

“Why do I feel like you’re planning to live there? Is there a problem, Sunghoon?”

Yes, there is. Sunghoon laughed. “Nothing, Dad. Anyway, we can’t stay there for long. I just wanted a little vacation with my wife.” He leaned back and looked at his father intently.

“Fine. But make sure to call here often. I’ll get my secretary to arrange everything. I’ll also have him come here to get both your passports.”

“Okay, Dad. Thank you.” He said and stood up after bidding farewell. Sunghoon breathed a sigh of relief. His father agreed. And hopefully, everything would go as smoothly as this.

You’ve noticed that your husband has been exceptionally busy these past few days. You already knew he was hard working, workaholic, even. But it’s quite different these days as if he’s constantly chasing after something. Today, he left with his father because they said they had someone to talk to.

You glanced at the oven timer, signaling that the cream cheese garlic bread you made is cooked. Once you checked and saw that they were golden brown, you grabbed the mittens to take the baking tray out.

“Wow, that looks delicious, Y/n.” Aunt Chul said as she just entered the kitchen. You smiled at her.

“I won’t be modest, Auntie. It is really delicious.” You giggled, placing the tray on the table. She chuckled.

“Really? Let me have a taste then.”

“Sure! But let’s wait for it to cool down for a bit,” You said as you removed the mittens and took the tongs to carefully transfer the bread onto the basket lined with wax paper.

“Oh! I’ll make us something to drink, Dear. What would you like?”

“I’ll have some green tea, please.” You requested.

“Sure, just a moment.” She began boiling the water and fetched the cups while you were arranging the bread in the basket, making it look presentable. Shortly after, you and the woman enjoyed the bread and tea together.

“This is so good, Dear!” Aunt Chul happily commented after the first bite. You nodded in agreement.

“Yes, it really is. I wonder who made it?”

The woman chuckled lightly. “No joke, Dear. It really is delicious. The cream cheese garlic bread I’ve had before didn’t taste like this. Sunghoon is really lucky to have someone like you, Dear. I hope you know that.” You were speechless at her words.

“I remember, Sohyun and Sunghoon used to love eating you baked good back then. They were the ones tasting and critiquing your creations.” Your smile faded as you recalled the past.

“I felt that they grew tired of tasting my breads back then. Especially Sunghoon.” You whispered softly.

“Oh, Dear! I doubt that,” The woman said with a chuckle and shook he head. “Didn’t Sunghoon always insist on tasting even the burnt ones?”

Yes, you could vividly remember that. Every batch you baked, whether perfectly made or not, Sunghoon always tasted them. He would praise them if they were delicious and cheer you on to do better next time if they weren’t. He was always there for you, ready to make you smile and feel good. He was your everything backthen. While you couldn’t do anything for him. You sighed.

“Yes, he’s a good guy…” You said softly just above whisper.

“What was that, dear?” The elderly woman asked. You glanced at her and gave a small smile.

“Nothing, Auntie.”

She took another bite of the bread and savored it like a child. “This is really delicious, Dear. I’ll miss this when you’re in Japan.”

You paused mid-bite upon hearing her words. “What? Japan?” You asked, confused.

“Yes, Japan. Didn’t Sunghoon tell you? You’re leaving tomorrow to go to Japan. Your husband has already arranged for your things to be packed,” She explained. Your jaw might have dropped at Aunt Chul’s news. Japan? Leaving? Tomorrow? You had no idea of what she was talking about. You felt your phone vibrating in your pocket.

“Heeseung…” You murmured as you saw the registered number. Quickly excusing yourself from Aunt Chul, you hurried upstairs to your room to answer the call.

“Heeseung?”

“What’s this I hear about you and Sunghoon leaving?”

He asked sternly. You paced back and forth in the room, feeling like a cat about to give birth, anxious and unsettled.

“I don’t know! Aunt Chul just mentioned it to me just now. I had no idea. Sunghoon hasn’t said anything about us leaving.”

You stopped in your tracks and pulled at your hair, feeling frustrated. What was he thinking?

“He’s freaking insane! You need to come home now, Y/n. We need to talk about this,”

He insisted.

“But—”

“If you won’t come here, I’ll come there.”

He said sharply. You took a deep breath.

“Okay, I’ll be there in an hour.”

You quickly left the mansion, being careful not to be seen by anyone. You also didn’t ask the driver to take you to avoid anyone from knowing where you were going. Upon arriving at your house, Heeseung form immediately greeted you. His face was serious.

“Let’s talk inside.” He said, leading the way.

Sunghoon and his father was greeted by Aunt Chul once they entered the mansion. “Would you like to two like to have snacks or rest first?” She asked.

“I’ll rest for a bit. I’ll come down later for dinner,” Mr. Park replied, heading up to his room.

“And you, son?” The woman turned to him. Sunghoon smiled at her.

“I’ll go rest first, Auntie.”

“Is that so? Y/n baked cream cheese garlic bread,” She added making him chuckle at her obvious teasing.

“I’ll go see her first, Auntie,” He replied.

“Oh, yes. That’s right.” She quickly agreed. “Go on, she’s in your room. She went up there after we ate earlier.” She gently nudged him.

“Hurry up now.” He chuckled at the woman’s gesture. He was near the stairs when she called him.

“I’m glad you hear your laughter again, son.” She said sincerely. He smiled back at her.

“Me too, Auntie.”

He went up to their room. However. It was dark inside, and you weren’t there. The windows were open, and the curtains swayed gently with the breeze. He wondered and checked the bathroom as well, but you weren’t there either. He went downstairs to find Aunt Chul.

“Auntie, have you seen Y/n?” He asked. She furrowed her brow.

“Isn’t she in your room?” He shook his head. “No.”

“Well, I just came from the garden, she wasn’t there either. Did you check the study? Other rooms?”

“Not yet,” He sighed. “Wait, maybe she went to her brother? Your wife had someone calling her from her phone earlier.”

Your phone? He recalled Heeseung visiting the bakery. He felt knot in his stomach. The fear he felt when he woke up and found the woman was not by his side returned.

“I’ll be out for a while,” He said and rushed to his car, got in, and drove away.

“I have talked to a friend who’s willing to lend us the money we need. If you’re still worried about that bastard’s check, I’ll go top the bank tomorrow and—”

“It’s not that simple, Hee,” You whispered. You were both on the sofa in your living room, having a serious conversation. You felt a chill at what your brother wanted to happen.

“What do you mean?” You sighed and looked straight at him. “Do you think Sunghoon would just agree to that?” He wasn’t able to respond. “He wouldn’t, Heeseung.”

Heeseung ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and leaned back on the sofa. “Then I think it would be better if you took some time away from him,” He suggested.

You shook your head. “I think it would only make things worse if I did that.”

“Then what do you think would work?” You couldn’t answer. None of your plans had worked. Reconciling the father and son. Gradually avoiding your husband. None of it happened.

“Look, y/n. I just want you safe. I don’t want you to get hurt, that’s why I’m doing this,” He said, holding your hand. “I’ll face Sunghoon myself. I’m the reason for all of this.”

You gave him a sad smile. “Liar.” He paused. “We both know who’s really at fault for all of this.”

He tightened his grip on your hand.“Y/n, I don’t want you thinking like that.”

You sighed. “Let me handle this, Hee. Let me leaver with Sunghoon to Japan, and there I’ll figure some things out.”

His eyes narrowed and he let go of your hand. “Are you seriously telling me that you’re really going with him?”

You looked down. “Honestly, I’m still hesitant about it. I’ll try to convince him later not to leave. But if he insists, maybe it’s better if I go with him for now.” You pleaded with him to understand. “I just can’t leave him.”

He stood up abruptly, clenching his fists.

“No.” It was a firm command. “You stay out of this. I’ll confront that piece of shit right now, and I’ll resolve this mess with him.”

“I’m here, Heeseung,” You and your brother almost simultaneously turned towards a cold and low voice. You gaped as you saw Sunghoon there.

He looked at you. “We’re going home, Y/n.” He was about to reach out to you but your brother’s large figure blocked his way as he stood up.

“Over my dead body.” You grabbed his arm.

“Hee, don’t start.”

“He was the one who started all of this!” Heeseung exclaimed. “And for what? Revenge? Only children would think of—” You gasped as Sunghoon lunged forward and delivered a punch at your brother’s face.

Heeseung slumped to the floor due to the impact. Your eyes widen as you saw Heeseung’s lip split open. You rushed to him and hurriedly wiped the blood from the corner of his lips. He stood up, his eyes glaring with retaliation for the punch he received from Sunghoon.

“Stop it!” You shouted, trying to intervene to break them up. When they didn’t budge, you raised your voice louder. “Enough!”

That seemed to snap them out of it, reminding them of your presence. Both men were panting heavily, and you could feel the tension thick in the air around them. You faced your brother. “We’re leaving. I’m going with him.”

He grabbed your arm. “No!”

“Please,” Your voice trembled in plea. Reluctantly, he let go and gave Sunghoon a sharp look. You called a helper and instructed them to bring a first aid kit. “Treat your wounds, Hee. Take care.” You hugged him.

You felt your husband tug on you. “Let’s go,” He whispered. He guided you out of the house towards his car. Heeseung didn’t follow, which you were thankful for. Upon reaching the car, Sunghoon spoke.

“Don’t try to run away from me like that.” He looked at you intently. He seemed to claim all the good looks in the world because even in dim light, he still looked godly… whit a bruised lip. You reached for his face.

“You have a bruise. Let’s hurry home so we can treat that,” You said.

He grasped your hand. “Answer me. Tell me you won’t run away from me.” His intense gaze made you feel like you were burning. You nodded slightly in response.

“Say it, damn it!”

“Sunghoon, I...” He held both sides of your face and gently forced you to meet his eyes.

“Is it really that hard? To be tied to me? To stay with me and remain by my side?” Your lips parted as you saw the desperation on Sunghoon’s face, as if his life depended on you staying.

“I promise I won’t hurt you. I won’t. I can’t”

“But you’re hurting my brother. And because of that, you’re also hurting me.” You don’t have the right to complain. You deserved the pain. But your brother?

He let go and sniffed the air. “Okay. You want me to stop hating on your brother? I can do that. I’ll do it for you.” He looked at you with a longing look. “You also said I should forgive my father? Fine, I’ll do that too.” You couldn’t speak. What was he trying to do to you? He reached out and held your palm, then clasped your hands.

“If I do all that, will you stay by my side? Will you promise not to leave me? Will you stay with me forever?”

“I realized that I was blinded by anger. Sohyun wouldn’t want me to blame the man she loved forever.” Joy enveloped your heart. It felt so good to hear your husband’s words. You never expected that he would be willing to do everything just to keep you by his side. That he’s finally ready to set his anger aside. But there’s one thing he didn’t know. And Sunghoon would hate you more if you keep it hidden from him much longer. You should have confessed earlier.

How will he believe you now? Even if you tell him that you love him…

Your eyes stung with tears. You shook your head. “No… You don’t understand.”

Sunghoon lifted your face with a finger, wiping your tear that traced a path down your cheek. “What do I not understand?” He asked, his voice soft yet urgent. “What is it, Y/n?”

You could only shake your head, your tears falling relentlessly. Sunghoon enveloped you in a warm embrace, offering you solace in the cold, dark night.

“Please, Y/n,” He murmured, his voice trembling with emotions. “Just promise me that you won’t run away. That we’ll always be together. That’s all I want to hear. Please.”

You continued to sob into his chest. Truth be told, you wanted the same thing—to be together forever, to be happy in each other’s arms. But that was impossible. It was never going to happen. You sniffled and gathered all your courage. Gently, you pushed him away from you. You shut your eyes tightly before looking straight into his eyes.

“It wasn’t my brother’s fault that Sohyun died. It was mine.” Your throat ached, and the words seemed to resist coming out. “It was only right that I pay for what I did. So it’s not fair that you blamed Heeseung for what happened…”

You saw Sunghoon’s expression change. “What are you talking about, y/n?” This isn’t your fault.”

You stood firm You knew you had to stick to the truth, no matter how painful. “It was all my idea. It was my decision that led to Sohyun’s death. I can’t let Heeseung suffer for something he didn’t do.”

A mixed of shock and confusion crossed Sunghoon’s face. “It wasn’t Heeseung’s fault that your sister is no longer with us. It was my fault. The anniversary surprise, the candle lit dinner—” You gulped, and tears streamed down your cheeks again. “Those were all my idea.” You roughly wiped away the tears, but no matter what you did, they kept falling.

“If I hadn’t suggested all that, Sohyun would still be here. You wouldn’t be left alone. Everything would be okay.” Your chest tightened as you confessed everything to him. “Sunghoon… I… I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.”

You could barely breathe from crying, and through it all, Sunghoon just stood there in front of you. This must be it. He must be hating you now and cursing you to death. You wouldn’t be surprised if he suddenly told you to rot in hell. You turned away to head back to your house. You had your answers. You didn’t need to leave because Sunghoon wouldn’t want you anywhere with him anymore.

You calmed yourself and dried the tears to see your way, but a tight hug from behind stopped you in your tracks. The embrace was so firm, you could barely breathe. You cried even harder. Sunghoon turned you around and you buried your face in his chest.

‘I’m so sorry. I never thought it would all end in an accident.”

He comforted you. “Heeseung’s surprise for my sister was your idea. That’s all it was. You and Heeseung didn’t mean her any harm. Both of you just wanted to make her happy.” You pulled away slightly and looked up at him. There wasn’t a trace of hatred on his face.

“Aren’t you going to yell at me? Sohyun died because of me.” At that, you started crying again. He sighed and tried to calm you down.

“Weren’t you listening? To be honest, ever since you came back to in to my life, my anger had gradually disappeared. I think I used what happened as an excuse to keep you by my side. I could never hate you.”

“But—” He silenced you with a kiss.

“I’m sure my sister is happy up there. I know that because I felt like she’s watching over me from there. Sohyun never wanted me to live a miserable life.” He gently stroked your hair.

“She once told me that I should stop shutting myself from the world. And when she died, it felt like my anger was the only thing keeping me alive. Until I saw you again. You were so bright that I wanted to put everything behind me. And I remembered that my sister told me I always needed to stay in the light.” He carefully caressed your cheek. After a very long time, you saw the man you loved once again.

“And you are my light, Y/n. you’re my very own brand of sunshine. The moment I saw you again, I felt alive. You complete the happy days I once had.”

If this was a dream, you wished to be a princess who had slept for a long time. And if possible, you hoped never to wake up. If this was real, why did it seem so unbelievable? You had expected a mad beast with eyes full of hate, not a handsome prince with eyes filled with love.

Oh God. Is this real?

“Yes, Y/n. This is real.” You hadn’t realized that you voiced your question out.

“But, Sunghoon. I know how much Sohyun’s death affected you. I don’t want you to hide that from me just because you promised not to hurt me. Whatever makes you feel better—”

“It’s true that my sister’s death nearly killed me. But you…” He paused, searching for the right words.

“The thought of another person I love frightened the hell out of me. If I lose you, I know I won’t be able survive.”

You embraced him tightly. “I won’t leave you.”

“Do you really accept me as your husband, Y/n? Are you ready to be with me for always? Will you love me too?” He looked deep into your eyes.

You wanted to say yes. You wanted to tell him that you already loved him. That you have loved him for a long time. Your gaze shifted towards your house, where you saw your brother watching the both of you. He nodded, as if giving you the encouragement to do what you truly wanted. Slowly, a smile spread across your face. You looked up to Sunghoon, who was gazing at you with complete love. Tears pooled in your eyes again, but this time, they were tears of joy.

“I love you, Park Sunghoon.” You finally managed to say. “I’ve always loved you. Even when our paths separated, that love never faded. I still love you.” Sunghoon let put a breath, his eyes closing briefly.

He hugged you tight and kissed the top of your head. “Thank you. Thank you for loving me.”

You returned the warm embrace to your husband. “I still feel guilty about Sohyun,” you sighed.

“Stop it,” He scolded you gently. “She loves us, and I know she wants us to be happy. There’s nothing to worry about now, baby.” Right. Sohyun had been a kind and loving sister top Sunghoon. She treated you like a sibling too. She genuinely loved your brother. She wouldn’t want anyone of you to be sad.

Under the moonlight, you promised to love the man you promised to be with for a lifetime with all your heart. You would give him the light he needed and all the love you could offer. You would be together for an eternity. And it would start now.

“I love you so much. Y/n.” You heard him whisper. You tightened your hug on Sunghoon even more.

“I love you.”

An Eye For An Eye P.sh

It was supposed to be rainy afternoon according to the weather report last night. But the weather seemed to be cooperating with them because not a single dark cloud marred the sky. You wondered how it would feel to live in a world where there was no sadness and pain; where only the warmth of love and happiness enveloped you.

Then you realized that in this world, one need all those sufferings to appreciate the beauty of life. You should face your fears and endure trials to become a better person. You smiled as you looked back and saw your husband leaning against the tree where you were taking shelter.

Sunghoon is a great example of someone consumed by darkness, yet learning to return to the colorful world. Well, all of you went through some tough times, but you believed it was Sunghoon who suffered the most. You approached him, locking eyes. You sucked in your breath. He still looked dark and powerful, but that was just because of his striking physical appearance. The dark aura that used to surround him was gone.

“We need to get going, you know?” You reminded with a smile.

He held your waist and pulled you closer to him. “I know, baby. I was just doing some reminiscing.”

“Like when you tripped here while we were chasing after Sohyun and Heeseung?” you teased him. The corners of his lips lifted in to a smile.

“Very funny.” You grinned and planted a quick kiss on his lips.

“So… Shall we go to Sohyun’s grave?” Before, his expression darkened whenever he remembered his sister, not it didn’t. He maintained a light demeanor. It was Sohyun’s death anniversary, and you planned to visit with your brother, Heeseung. The feud between the two men had been resolved.

“Yeah, I think we should go now. I want to catch Heeseung being dramatic.”

You wrinkled your nose. “How mean.” Sunghoon just grinned and kissed you quickly on the lips. You both started walking towards his car.

“You know what? My visits to my sister will be different now,” He said.

“What do you mean?”

“Before, whenever I would visit her, I always said I would seek revenge on those responsible for her loss.” He tightened his grip on your hand. “But today would be different because you’re with me, and Heeseung and I are okay. I used to visit her with a heavy heart, but this time, I would face her with a smile.”

“And she must be smiling back at you,” You said happily.

“I know.” Sunghoon stopped walking and looked at you with lovingly.

“Thank you. Thank you for being my light, y/n.” You were momentarily taken aback but quickly returned the smile to your lips.

“I always got you. I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

[below the cut]

you stared at the tall, handsome boy across the room. the room was twinkling whenever his cheek dimple appears when laughing, classmates’ eyes diverted whenever his eyes turn into crescent room, and classmates become temporary silent to hear his laughs.

ever since he stepped foot into your classroom from two years ago when he became a transferee, he grabbed the attention of female students and even staff board members. boys would gaze upon him whenever they pass by sunghoon with jealously visible in their faces.

i mean, who wouldn’t ?

you can’t deny either, he’s the most attractive person ever. in the classroom. in the school. in the world wide world.

his eyes would sometimes glance upon yours. when you both make eye contact, it would not last for even two seconds as you immediately look away. blush would run across your cheeks just by thinking about his gorgeous eyes looking at yours. you would nibble your bottom lip out of nervousness and overthink about your physical appearance.

did i look like an idiot? why is my lips so chapped? was my mascara smeared?

you questioned yourself multiple times in your head after walking home from school, how is he sculpted like the gods? why is he so handsome? why is he that perfect?

argh, just by thinking about it, unconsciously made your lips curl and heart beating like a rollercoaster. you shake your head to remove your thoughts about him and go home.

even though you’ve classmates with him for two years, you wanted to be closer. but you didn’t have the guts to do something. talk to him? pass him the notes the next day after being absent to take his ice skating lessons? buy him something? start a conversation? it’s too confusing.

you sighed infront of a locker. staring at it as if it would reply to you. well, you needed a quick response from whatever what you were doing. a wake up call.

you mentally marked it in your head.

locker #143 letter #12

god what were you doing?

writing letters to someone who barely notices you? how pathetic. you don’t even know what he thinks about you. does he know your name?

you were turning your body, ready to take off and think about sunghoon for the rest of the night. but before you take a step forward, you hear a familiar shout.

“y/n!”

you turned around and you see two figures, you recognized that one of them is your best friend, jake.

“oh hey jake!” you beamed at jake’s big smile towards you as he jogs towards you. your eyes then moved towards the figure behind him and your mind immediately blacked out.

it was sunghoon following behind jake. he saw you and smiled before going towards you as well.

“we were gonna eat tteokbokki at the restaurant across the street but we saw you~ it’s sooo cold so we wanted to eat something warm!” you can hear jake’s excitement through his tone as you saw him bundled up with his jacket and gloves. you noticed sunghoon’s attire. it was a simple hoodie with his fluffy jacket but yet he looked so cozy.

“wanna come with us?” jake invited. he stared at you with expectation.

“oh..” you mumbled under your breath. the sudden invitation made you hesitant because sunghoon will be there and you didn’t know how to act around him.

currently your heartbeat is echoing in your ears and you suddenly got cold sweat on your back despite it being winter.

you glanced to sunghoon behind jake as his hands were inside. he gently smiled at you as if he knew that you were wondering whether or not you’ll be a bother with them. he gave you a reassuring nod, mouthing, “don’t mind it”.

you swore your heart with jumping jackets. you swore sunghoon’s cheek dimple appeared when he smiled at you. you swore that sunghoon wanted you to be there with him.

“sure.” you breathe out. the heavy feeling on your chest disappeared with that one look of sunghoon’s eyes that spoke comfort and gentleness.

“yes!” jake jumped in excitement in his place. “we’re gonna go after sunghoon gets his scarf from his locket.” jake’s eyes moved towards sunghoon’s locker which was literally right next to you.

once again, your mind immediately blacked out. you panicked internally. not only sunghoon but your best friend will see your letter. you were the only one that knows that you like sunghoon. and you were scared that it might be obvious with how you’re acting.

you eyes looked over sunghoon’s hand unlocking his locker. you wanted to run away. you wanted to hide. you wanted to take back off the letters that you wrote in the past about him and forget everything. you can imagine yourself slapping yourself with your pillow.

but at the same time you were curious. will this be an opportunity to know what sunghoon thinks of you? does he likes the letters? does he know that it’s yours?

sunghoon huffed loudly which cut out of your thoughts.

“another one?” laced with disappointment.

your heart dropped at his reaction. you looked at jake beside you, his lips pursed in awkwardness.

you saw sunghoon stretch out his hand to grab the brown envelope. “hey y/n..” sunghoon turned to you.

your eyes widened, in fear if he knows. you gulped before responding to him. but your heart thumped that he said your name for the first time. that was a first for you.

“do you know this person?” he asked emotionless. eyes hoping that you know. you stared at the mini orange you’ve drew in the corner of the letter because you know he likes them; the drawing is humiliating you.

“no….” you tried to play if off cool, acting like you were thinking. sunghoon nodded when you responded.

“alright.”

jake bumped his elbow onto your shoulder. “sunghoon has been receiving love letters from the same person for the past month.”

“and it’s annoying.” sunghoon examined the brown envelope as if it was a disease. you can see the scowl on his face.

your heart swelled up at the contrast of his voice from earlier and his expression. his twisted eyebrows and puckered lips showed his frustration while looking at his name in the center of the envelope.

“it’s annoying?” you suddenly spoke, genuinely wondering why he would think of that but sunghoon nodded once again.

“tired of the same nonsense anyways. i won’t like someone who acts like this. i read the letters and laugh to myself because, how can someone be this delusional?” he snickered to himself as jake nodded, agreeing with him.

tears swelled up to your eyes as sunghoon looked down at the envelope, playing with it like a toy.

“acting like this? it’s a burdensome.”

did sunghoon indirectly called you a burden?

“if i meet this person, i won’t ever like them because i hate people like this.”

ouch.

that really did it.

“hey!” you suddenly made your voice loud, startling both of the boys.

jake panicked upon looking at you, your cheeks are pink, eyes watering and your lips were quivering.

sunghoon was alarmed with you. he was confused yet worried upon seeing your teary eyes. he was questioning what happened. he was gonna ask but you beat him to it.

you chuckled. “i forgot i-i have to help my mom with something. you guys can go without me-“ you cursed at yourself for your stuttering. “i’ll go! uh bye!” you smiled specifically at sunghoon with your teary eyes before dashing off.

idiot.

idiot.

idiot.

what sunghoon doesn’t know is that you like him.

what you don’t know is that sunghoon likes you as well. he was the one that initiated eating tteokbokki with you.

(jake would leave midway as apart of sunghoon’s plan)

-

this is my first tumblr post! i have a lot of drabbles in my notes app but i decided to post this one first because it’s completely done. what did you guys think? do you think sunghoon will know yn’s likeness towards him? will yn stop with the letters? i don’t know if i have a part two in mind but please let me know if you want! 😼 thank you for reading <3

[below the cut]

“you like sunghoon!?” your best friend, yunjin shrieked. her eyes were wide and her mouth opened, leaning back in shock as both of you are sitting in your bed.

you nodded disappointedly, holding a pillow on your lap.

after what happened last week, you decided to share the news to your best friend, yunjin because one, you needed to rant to someone and two, you’re comfortable around her as she’s open minded with a lot of things - especially with boys.

“you mean, the park sunghoon?” she emphasized each other, leaning closer to you with each other and scanning you as if you’re lying.

you nodded once again. “alright yunjin, share it with the whole world!” you rolled your eyes with her as yunjin leaned back again, nibbling her lip. she was thinking of something to solve the situation you’re dealing with because heck she didn’t know how to fix this one.

“argh!” you groaned, laying down in your bed as you covered yourself in your fluffy blanket. you closed your eyes for a few seconds, trying to collect yourself and not rethink about last week.

yunjin just stared at you, eyes wandering all over your room. “well,” she started.

“sunghoon doesn’t know that it was you sending letters.”

you removed the blanket from your face, pouting at yunjin because she does have a point.

“but he said that he hates people sending him letters!” you shouted, once again putting the blanket over your head.

yunjin believes that you’re acting like a little girl. and you would think yourself too.

“but he doesn’t know that it’s you!”

“but he said it himself!”

at this point you kept arguing with yunjin, back and forth, screaming at each other’s faces. there was no solution except talking it out but you’re blushing at the thought of talking to him. you can’t bring yourself to talk to sunghoon, it’s just embarrassing.

[now playing… take a chance with me by NIKI]

in the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.

you looked out the window as it’s a free period from your class schedule. it was cleaning period so all of your classmates are all over the place. you leaned down with your arms planted down on the window. your eyes were scattering at the outside view from your building.

the faded music from your classroom that was played from your classmates, did not help you in moving on from park sunghoon, if anything it made yoh regret everything, even your rejected letters.

your eyes were following each snowflake in a way to stay awake. your tired eyes were starting to shut off due to your classes that were stressing you out. you were also mentally drained from thinking about sunghoon and what to do.

do you continue being friends with him after he indirectly broke your heart or just flatly avoid him like a coward you are? both of them doesn’t solve anything.

you heard sudden screaming from down the hall. your eyes shifted from the view to whatever commotion was happening. it was getting crowded by girls so you didn’t know that was happening.

you kept peeking at whatever was happening. you were curious of it.

your heart paused when you caught a glimpse of sunghoon.

after the news spread like rapid fire that sunghoon won #1st place in his competition, sunghoon’s popularity rose. girls started to like him more and people wanted to be friends with him. it worsen your chances of liking sunghoon.

you noticed sunghoon’s cheek dimples when girls started mini conversations with him especially complimenting him and giving him gifts as a way to congratulate him in getting #1st place.

you smiled at the sight, feeling bitter as the feelings you felt last week were reoccurring. you miss that smile of his.

maybe it is time to move on.

as you were standing up, grabbing the broom next to you to sweep up the dust on the floor, sunghoon finally noticed you.

he’s been wanting to talk to you, heck, even see you but you weren’t in his sight. even when in class, usually you would try to steal glances (yes sunghoon knew about it but didn’t say anything) across the room but now, you just focused on the work in front of you. not even sparing a glance at him.

he observed you, assuming, are you ignoring me? he even pouted when you just left class, walking past him when his eyes were planted to yours, trying to make you look at him.

and now he has this opportunity in front of him. you weren’t busy nor occupied with someone. he quickly apologized to the girls, saying that he has somewhere to go.

he tried to leave the scene, making sure he isn’t pushing anyone and tries to jog towards you with your back faced towards him.

“y/n!”

you froze, recognizing the voice that was calling to you.

you turned around like a deer caught in headlights. you saw sunghoon breathing heavily, “hey..” he smiled upon looking at you.

you didn’t smile back, as you were shocked. you never expected a situation like this, not in public.

so you ran. you ran away away from him like the freak you are.

sunghoon was confused, standing still for a few seconds before his body moved to his own accord. he started chase after you. he was right about his assumption,

you were avoiding him.

that drove him motivation to more to run after you.

sunghoon noticed that you would walk the other direction if he approached you or look away if spared a glance at you. he wanted to know why. he wanted to know what’s wrong even if he didn’t do anything.

you didn’t know why your tears started falling after you made eye contact with sunghoon. your past emotions were resurfacing and you didn’t want to see sunghoon witness your pathetic side.

you wanted to run away and hide from sunghoon.

you didn’t know where you were going.

your legs soon gave up and you ended up in the school’s backyard. you were by yourself which was a good thing because no one will have to see you cry.

you were shivering like crazy because yeah, you just ran away towards outside when it’s snowing and you have nothing but a skirt (your school had heaters so you don’t feel cold once you enter) and a cardigan.

so smart y/n…

you were panting like crazy as if you ran 8 miles. you placed a hand on the wall to catch your breath.

“y/n..” a voice trailed behind you, also panting.

fucking park, did you follow me?

you turned around to see sunghoon with his messy hair and his messed up uniform. you noticed that he had a messy collar from running. you know you can’t run away from this situation.

“why..” you muttered at him with glossy eyes. you were undoubtedly confused as to why he followed you.

sunghoon slowly walked towards you and you noticed that he was holding his long coat in his arms. you looked back at him with hurt visible on his expression.

“why are you avoiding me?”

you were at a loss of words at the sudden confrontation. your heart was beating like crazy and you curse at yourself as to why you can’t form a single sentence. geez you might believe that sunghoon probably hates you.

“um..” come on y/n think!

sunghoon was staring at you, expecting a response but as he saw you shivering like a dog, he approached to you with his coat. he stood in front of you which didn’t help yourself form words.

he wrapped it around your body, sending electric shocks in your body from his fingers touching your shoulders. you slowly looked up at sunghoon as he made sure to cover every inch of your body with his coat, even if it’s touching the floor.

“whatever i did,” sunghoon was fixing the collar as you kept staring at him with a sad smile. “i’m sorry.” he finally looked at you. your eyes started to swell up with tears like a crybaby.

you looked down so sunghoon wouldn’t see your tears falling. “you don’t understand,” you whispered. “you hate people like me.” you swore that your voice cracked.

sunghoon tilted his head at that assumption. “who told you that?” he tried lowering his head to look at you. “i would never hate you.” he softly said, hands slowly placed onto your shoulders, gently massaging them to ease you.

“whoever said that is a bitch.” you chuckled at sunghoon’s words. how ironic.

“i guess you’re a bitch.” you looked up to him with a slight, amused smile. his eyebrows quirked at your words. you looked at him and noticed the snowflakes on his hair. you wanted to remove them but you held back.

“what do you mean? have i said anything?” you can hear the genuineness in his tone. you can’t be mad at him forever, it’s not even his fault.

“those love letters,” you decided to just spill it out. “do you why they’re gone? why you’re not receiving them?” you didn’t expect a response. “because they were from me sunghoon. i wrote the letters to you.”

now it was sunghoon’s turn to be frozen. his hands stopped massaging you, his lips puffed out air in shock, and his eyes are slightly wide. you couldn’t handle his stare so you sniffled, looking down.

you expected a disgusted look from sunghoon and let him reject you. what you didn’t expect is that, it didn’t happen. your imagination became false when you felt his lips onto yours.

you felt like time stopped. your eyes were wide in shock and your body became still. you felt sunghoon’s fingers slowly reach your waist, digging into them to be closer to you.

his eyes were close and his lips were slowly moving, hesitant to continue. your eyes were slowly closing as you realized that sunghoon is indeed kissing you.

you can hear your rapid heartbeat echoing in your head and you stopped crying. you can imagine yourself a blushing mess and your thoughts are all over the place.

the park sunghoon is kissing me.

sunghoon let go (unfortunately) and looked at you while you were processing at what happened. sunghoon saw your cheeks becoming more red but didn’t comment about it. he instead, fixed your hair strands from your face and put them behind your ear. he noticed a snowflake falling onto your nose. he wanted to kiss it but he controlled himself.

“i’m sorry. i didn’t know it were yours.” sunghoon’s hand slowly reached to the side of your face, his thumb staying at your tear stained cheek as he gently rubbed your skin. you leaned towards his soft touch. “fuck y/n i really am sorry.” he apologized once again, feeling utterly terrible.

“i only said that because i like you. i only said that bullshit because i’m in love with you, not anyone else. i didn’t want anyone else but you.” you were at a loss of words.

“i like the way you help others before yourself, how passionate you look like talking about the things you like, how you look so focused on the classes i don’t even like, the cookies you baked for the class, i liked them. i liked every bite of them. i like your eyes, your hair, your voice-” your eyes dilated at the sudden confession sunghoon is making about you as he starts looking at the ground because he can’t look at you in the eyes when he’s confessing his love for you.

“shit i-i didn’t know it was yours, i didn’t mean to hurt you last week-“ sunghoon was rambling whatever what was coming on top of his head. he wanted to ramble to show how regretful he is.

“hey,” you softly spoke, catching sunghoon’s attention. he looked at you with sadness and disappointment, especially in himself. he doesn’t deserve a girl like you. you just smiled at him as he was wondering why you aren’t punching him in the face.

well, you did call him a bitch…

“you didn’t know it was from me, it’s only natural to react like that. i became an idiot and didn’t talk to you about the letters, i was just a coward because i was scared to be rejected by you.” you chuckled at yourself, shivering at the cold despite being covered by sunghoon’s coat.

sunghoon noticed and pulled the coat tighter on you. he even buttoned you up so the snow won’t touch your clothes. you can’t help but feel warm on the inside. “yeah an idiot for running without a jacket.” he replied, pouting at your stubbornness.

“i’m assuming that you threw them away?” you asked sunghoon as he guilty looked away. you weren’t mad at him, for he didn’t know. “i’ll start writing them again.” you said confidently. you didn’t know where your boldness was coming from.

sunghoon looked at you with sparks on his eyes. “but on one condition.” you suddenly said, using your index finger.

“mhm go on i’m listening.” sunghoon stared at you with a loving gaze and his hands wrapped around your waist and you suddenly can’t speak.

is this his way of flirting?

abruptly, you stood on your tippy toes and pecked his lips. sunghoon was caught off guard when he felt your lips on him. you looked at him innocently when his lips were ajar. you smiled cheekily at him.

“shit y/n,” he pressed his chest with his palm. “you can’t do stuff like that.” he pouted and you can’t help but giggle at the sight you’re seeing.

“like what?”

sunghoon leaned down towards you. “two can play that game.” you saw sunghoon smirked as he whispered to you, feeling his warm breath onto your skin.

you were about to ask him what he meant but he beat you to it when both of his hands cupped your face, making your cheeks squished. he smiled at the sight before kissing you once again and the warm feeling inside of you happens once again. both of you felt it.

the feeling, it felt so right. your lips felt perfect onto his. you smiled against the kiss and sunghoon felt it. he smiled into the kiss as well. he tilted his head to the side, kissing you deeper. you couldn’t breathe both literally and figuratively.

both of you stopped, panting for air. both of you leaned away but sunghoon still cupped your cheeks because he wanted to be close to you. both of you were a blushing mess but kept quiet about it as you kept smiling towards each other, never wanting this to end. you both leaned your foreheads together, being silent but staring into each other’s eyes.

“what the fuck.”

sunghoon turned around and saw jake. you squinted your eyes from afar and saw yunjin staring. the two of them stared at the both of you with a stunned expression.

can’t wait to explain this one.

ALLODOXAPHOBIAal-lo-dox-a-pho-bi-ais The Fear Of Opinions. This Phobia Can Manifest As A Fear Of Being

A month had passed. Exactly a month since that one unfortunate night when their relationship ended. Since then, she had finally allowed herself to feel and breathe freely. She permitted herself to identify the sadness, the anger, the disgust, and the deep emptiness within her. Yet, she also granted herself healing and the assurance of her own presence and peace of mind. She made the decision to avoid any interactions with him at all costs, just to let herself breathe.

I set myself free in my own time now I'm all alone I really don't mind

At some point, she found herself in the stands of the basketball hall, there to show her support for Jungwon - her best friend of six years — who was ready to have a match with his team against the opposing school. As she sat there, she overheard some girls sitting in front of her gossiping about her and Sunghoon's past relationship.

Apparently, every time Sunghoon is asked about the reason for their breakup, he either shrugs it off by telling others that they didn't share the same trajectory or, if he's constantly pressed about it, he says they broke up because of a lack of time due to their tight schedules and exams. What a lie.

but would you leave it out when you tell everyone about us so much went so wrong between me and you

Trying to ignore the recently received information, she cheered silently for her best friend throughout the whole match, yet she was not able to shrug off the memories of her breakup with Sunghoon. Sunghoon has always been a man of pride, whether it was his grades, his looks, or his family's wealth. He always had everything he wanted. Yet, the only thing he did not have was a significant other. While all his friends were bragging about their relationships, Sunghoon could not help but feel pressured and down. So he decided to date her.

They met in a shared chemistry class, where Sunghoon desperately looked for a girl he could pick to be his girlfriend. He flashed his beautiful smile at her and arranged to meet up frequently, whether it was for their studies, the music they shared, or simply each other's presence. At first, he thought the feelings would come after a while, but they didn't, and he did not want to deal with that issue any further. He chose to ignore the tenderness and kept on feeding the facade of being in love.

After a while of dating, Sunghoon's constant way of vaunting about his girlfriend to his friends became very stressful and bothersome to her. She could not stand the pressure of always being the center of attention around his friends. She elected to calmly confront her boyfriend about the struggle she had been hiding deep down, which resulted in a heated argument. Sunghoon revealed his real intentions about their relationship, explaining how he just wanted to boost his self-esteem, to feel less left out, less pressured, and not embarrassed around his friends for not having a girlfriend.

She could not believe nor process the words that spilled from his mouth, so she just stared at him in disbelief. Sunghoon, not able to stand her silence, told her how much he cherished her just as a trophy to show around his friends, without having any strings attached. Soon after, she made the decision to end their relationship. Unable to look at his face anymore, she spared no time and stormed out of his college room to go to her own. Tears threatened to spill out, yet she did not cry. She did not want to cry. Arriving in her own room, she blocked his number and decided to go to sleep, just to ignore her own salty eyes.

now that it's done you can tell all your friends

After the match ended with a win for her school's team, everyone cheered loudly while she just smiled proudly at her best friend. The basketball players approached the stands, and in the crowd of the team, she noticed a familiar face—not her best friend's, but her ex-boyfriend's—Sunghoon. Sunghoon, running ahead of himself towards the stands, smiled brightly and hugged a tall and slim female figure, then a moment later, kissed her passionately. Seeing this, she looked quite shocked and felt a little bit hurt, but she hoped he treated that girl differently than he had treated her.

without me around you can take turns with everyone

Some time passed. Just as she was about to exit the toilet stall, she heard a girl running and crying into the stall next to hers, disrupting her peace. She decided to stay quiet, not wanting to startle the girl. Accidentally, she overheard the girl talking to someone on the phone. Through tears, the girl explaines how much she loved a boy and how hurt she felt after an argument a few minutes ago over a minor inconvenience. The girl continued, describing how the boy had said hurtful things to her, claiming he did not love her and that she was useless, only seen as another trophy by him. Hearing this, she froze on the spot, her own breakup suddenly flooding back to her.

She exited the stall in a hurry and walked anxiously through the school hall, her thoughts racing freely in her mind. She couldn't believe that the boy she once loved and cherished had turned into such a heartless pride machine. She could not believe that Sunghoon continued to break the hearts of innocent girls just to feed his own ego and impress his friends.

even now as I'm on my own it wears me down and I've lost control

Arriving at her dorm room, she lied in her bed and chuckled at her own hope of Sunghoon changing. Soon after, the chuckles turned into wholehearted laughter as she reminisced about the lies Sunghoon told his friends about their past relationship and their reasons for breaking up.

after all we've been through would you tell everyone leaving out how you made me feel and what went wrong

Right after, the laughter turned into single droplets of tears, which trickled down her cheeks as she realized how insecure Sunghoon must feel — unable to tell the truth and live authentically, wearing a mask while breaking hearts. She felt sorry for him, though she shouldn't have; after all, he had broken her heart. Yet here she was, and the world did not end.

now that it's done you can tell all your friends

At the end, their priorities diverged: she would prioritize her future significant other, while he would always prioritize his pride and his FRIENDS.

without me around you can take turns with everyone you can tell all your friends you can tell all your friends

Echoes Of Devotion

The university campus buzzed with the lively chatter of students, a symphony of voices blending into the backdrop of rustling leaves and distant traffic. The summer break had been anything but enjoyable for her. Having to move out once again was tiring, yet she knew it was for the good. For her own good.

She navigated the crowd with practiced ease, her gaze flitting from face to face, searching for something—or rather, someone.

It happened in an instant. Amid the sea of faces, she saw him. He stood by the fountain, laughing with a group of friends. His smile was bright, his eyes crinkling at the corners, radiating a warmth that seemed to draw everyone in. Hearing his name from one of his friends' lips nearly made her catch her breath in her throat. "Park Sunghoon!" She knew her old habits would resurface sooner rather than later, but she didn't expect them to be this soon.

There was something magnetic about him, something that set her pulse racing. She had seen many attractive people before, but he was different. His very presence seemed to light up the space around him, making everyone else fade into the background.

She felt a jolt of excitement, a spark of something dark and powerful. This was the feeling she had hoped to bury when moving out. But deep down, she had been waiting for it. The certainty that he was the one. He's next.

A smile curled at the corners of her lips, subtle yet sinister. She watched him intently, her mind already weaving plans and strategies. His every movement, every laugh, every interaction was like a thread she could pull, unraveling the life he knew and reweaving it around her.

He seemed perfect—friendly, trusting, and utterly oblivious to the danger that had just marked him. She could already see how easy it would be to insert herself into his world, to become indispensable to him, to isolate him from anyone who might come between them.

As the bell rang, signaling the start of class, she didn’t move. She continued to watch him, her smile growing more pronounced, her eyes narrowing with determination. This was no ordinary attraction; this was an obsession being born, a single-minded focus that would drive her every action. And she knew that.

She would have him. Completely. Utterly. And no one, absolutely no one, would stand in her way.

Echoes Of Devotion

It started innocently, with subtle glances during the breaks and passing encounters in the university hallways. She never made herself present to him, not yet at least. Old habits die hard, however; she still managed to get to know his entire schedule—from morning lessons and subtle meetings with his friends at the nearby café, to those football matches that always began at 5:30 p.m. Some might think she had gone completely mad, but little did they know she had been like this since 9th grade.

After some time, she started to get bolder. Maintaining short eye contact, leaving cheesy love letters with his favorite tiramisu-flavored chocolate in his locker. She wanted to keep it normal. She tried to tell herself that this was who she really was. She wasn't the psycho she was back then. She was different now. Yet, in her heart, she knew she couldn’t be normal, even if she wanted to. Even if she tried.

She saw his reaction every single time. The first time he looked surprised as he saw a love letter in his locker. He kept it. It gave her a little bit of hope that she didn't have to revert to her old, scary habits. She even wrote her number there, hoping he would reach out, purposely avoiding mentioning her name. Unfortunately, by the end of the day, he did not.

She persevered. She kept writing those goddamn love letters and buying that goddamn tiramisu-flavored chocolate. Letter after letter. Every time the same reaction, but the annoyance in his face growing with each of them.

When the number of written letters reached fifty, she decided to confront him. She found him in the library, secluded in a corner with a stack of books. Heart pounding, she approached, her footsteps silent on the carpeted floor. “Sunghoon,” she said softly, yet firmly. He looked up, startled. “Why haven’t you responded to my letters?” Tilting her head slightly, boring her dead eyes into him with a slight glimpse of hurt. She wasn't smiling. She was dead serious. She wanted to know why he hadn't reached out, why he ignored her, why he rejected her.

"Oh, you wrote those letters?" Sunghoon shifted uncomfortably in his seat, clearly caught off guard. He closed the book he was reading and looked up at her with a gentle, apologetic smile. “I’m really sorry,” he began, choosing his words carefully. “I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings by not responding.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “The truth is, I’m not really interested in having a love life right now. I’ve been trying to focus on my studies and my future. There’s just so much going on, and I don’t think I can give anyone the attention they deserve.”

Seeing the slight tremor in her expression, he quickly added, “But I really appreciate the effort you’ve put into the letters. And the tiramisu chocolates were amazing—they’re my favorite, and it was very thoughtful of you.”

Her heart sank at his words, but she masked her disappointment with a tight, controlled smile. "I see," she said, her voice steady but laced with a barely perceptible edge. "You want to focus on your studies. That's understandable." She took a small step back, smiling forcefully. "I'm glad you liked the tiramisu chocolates, though," she added, her tone softening just a bit. "It’s nice to know at least something I did made you happy." A shadow flickered in her eyes, but she quickly blinked it away, maintaining her composed demeanor. "I suppose I'll stop bothering you with my letters, then," she continued, the words sharp despite her calm delivery. "Good luck with your studies, Sunghoon."

Without waiting for a response, she turned on her heel and walked away, her back straight, leaving Sunghoon with a sense of unease. As she exited the library, that forced smile dropped, and her mind raced with new strategies, the sting of rejection only fueling her determination further.

Echoes Of Devotion

Walking home from the library in a daze, Sunghoon's words replayed in her mind. "I'm sorry, but I'm just not interested. I need to focus on my studies right now." The rejection cut through her like a knife, every word a fresh wound. Her heart pounded in her chest, a mix of rage and despair building with each step she took.

As she reached her apartment, the door barely closed behind her before the dam broke. She collapsed onto the floor, her body wracked with sobs. The tears came fast and hard, streaming down her face as she clutched her chest, gasping for breath.

"Why? Why doesn’t he see?" she choked out between sobs. "I'm the only one who truly loves him. I'm the only one who understands him."

Her cries echoed through the empty house, a haunting symphony of pain and madness. She staggered to her feet, stumbling towards the bathroom. In the mirror, her tear-streaked face stared back at her, eyes wide with a wild, unhinged gleam. She laughed, a high-pitched, manic sound that contrasted sharply with her sobs. The laughter grew louder, more hysterical, mingling with her tears until it was impossible to tell where one ended and the other began.

She grabbed the edges of the sink, her knuckles white as she leaned forward, her reflection distorting in the mirror. "Focusing on the future, my ass," she muttered to herself, the laughter dying in her throat. "The only future that he has is me. He just doesn’t understand yet."

Her mind raced, a whirlwind of chaotic thoughts and dark plans. The rejection had shattered something inside her, leaving a void that only her obsessive love could fill. She stumbled back into the living room, knocking over a lamp as she went. The crash barely registered as she fell to her knees, clutching her head, the pain of rejection fueling her madness.

Her breathing slowed, and a cold, calculating calm settled over her. "I’ll make him see," she whispered, her voice low and steady. "I’ll make him understand that he belongs with me. And if anyone tries to get in my way…"

Her eyes hardened, the wild gleam replaced by a steely determination. She knew what she had to do. The madness was no longer a burden but a driving force, propelling her towards her goal. She wiped her tears away, a twisted smile curling together with a chuckle on her lips.

"Sunghoon will be mine," she vowed, her voice filled with a chilling certainty. "No matter what it takes."

Echoes Of Devotion

The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the university campus. Her heart racing with anticipation, she clutched her books tightly as she made her way to the student lounge. Today was the day she would get to know Sunghoon’s friends better. She had spent weeks observing them from a distance, learning their names, their habits, and their schedules and, most importantly, their secrets.

Heeseung's mental health was at its lowest due to his parents' divorce and his unrequited love for one of the most popular students. Jay's family financial struggles and his hidden talent were secrets she had uncovered. Wonyoung was under immense pressure from her parents, yet she kept up her best girl facade while hiding her chronic illness. She knew it all. And she certainly knew how to put that knowledge to use. It was all part of her meticulous plan to get closer to Sunghoon.

As she entered the bustling lounge, she scanned the room until her eyes landed on the familiar group gathered around a table near the window. Sunghoon sat at the center, laughing at something one of his friends had said. She took a deep breath, putting on her most charming smile, and approached the group with a casual confidence.

“Hey, do you mind if I join you?” she asked, her voice sweet and friendly. The group looked up, slightly surprised by the unexpected visitor. Sunghoon, being surprised to see her, smiled warmly, yet still had their conversation from the library in mind.

“Sure, have a seat,” he said, gesturing to an empty chair. She slid into the seat, her heart fluttering as she found herself sitting next to Sunghoon. His friends, a mix of curious and welcoming faces, introduced themselves one by one.

“I’ve seen you around,” said Heeseung, a tall guy with a friendly grin. “You’re in our literature class, right?”

She nodded, her smile never faltering. “Yeah, I’ve been meaning to get to know everyone better. It’s nice to finally put names to faces.”

As the conversation flowed, she skillfully engaged each of Sunghoon’s friends, asking questions and showing genuine interest in their lives. She laughed at their jokes, shared her own stories, and slowly but surely, integrated herself into the group. Every now and then, she would steal glances at Sunghoon, noting how relaxed and happy he seemed with his friends.

“I love your nails, by the way. The color really suits you,” said Wonyoung, the girl who often partnered with Sunghoon in projects. “I'd love to do them for you one day.”

Her eyes lit up at the suggestion, a flicker of arousal flaring within her. “I’d love that. Maybe we could hang out at my place someday, who knows?”

The girl seemed to warm to her recommendation, discussing potential plans for a weekend nail session. She nodded along, her mind already calculating how she could use these moments to deepen her bond with Sunghoon and subtly influence the group dynamics.

As the evening wore on, she felt a sense of triumph. She had successfully ingratiated herself into Sunghoon’s social circle, her plan unfolding perfectly. By the time they all said their goodbyes, she felt a new sense of belonging and a step closer to her ultimate goal.

Walking back to her house, she couldn’t help but smile. Getting to know Sunghoon’s friends was just the beginning. Soon, Sunghoon would see that she was the perfect addition to his life, the one who truly understood him. And no one, absolutely no one, would stand in her way.

Echoes Of Devotion

As the weekend arrived, Wonyoung was already at her door, all ready and excited for the planned nail session. Before she could even ring the bell, the door suddenly swung open, revealing the owner of the house.

"Oh, hi. Please, come in." She felt as if the excitement was ready to explode within her, yet she was not letting her facade slip.

As they entered the meticulously decorated living room, her smile never faltered, masking her true intentions. “Make yourself comfortable,” she said warmly, gesturing to a plush armchair. Wonyoung sat down, glancing around at the tasteful décor. “I’ve been working on a new hobby,” she continued, pulling out a sleek, black box. “Let me show you my collection.”

She opened the box, revealing an array of perfectly painted nails, displayed like trophies. The girl admired them at first, her eyes widening in admiration. “Wow, these are amazing! You’re really talented,” she said, completely unaware of the truth. She smiled, a hint of something sinister lurking behind her eyes. “Oh, thank you! Those are some of my favorites.”

Wonyoung continued to admire the collection, completely unaware of the dark truth behind them. “How do you get them to look so real?” “Well,” she began, her voice taking on a playful, almost teasing tone. “That’s because they are real.” Wonyoung laughed, thinking it was a joke. “You’re so funny!”

But her smile only widened. She reached for a small, ornate box on the shelf and opened it, revealing an assortment of perfectly preserved nails. “No, seriously. These are real ” Wonyoung’s laughter faltered as she looked more closely at the nails. “Wait, what?”

Picking up one of the nails, she held it delicately between her fingers. “These nails used to belong to some very… unfortunate girls. Girls who thought they could get too close to someone very dear to me.”

Wonyoung’s eyes widened in horror as the realization sank in. She took a step back, her mind racing. “You’re joking, right? This is some kind of sick joke.”

Shaking her head slowly, her smile never wavering. “Oh, Wonyoung, I’m very serious. You see, I take my collection quite seriously. And I’m always looking to add more… unique pieces.” She placed the nail back in the box and closed it with a snap, the sound echoing ominously in the room. Wonyoung’s hands trembled as she tried to process what she had just heard.

“But don’t you worry,” she continued, her tone now sickeningly sweet. “As long as you stay out of Sunghoon’s business, you’ll have nothing to fear.” Wonyoung nodded frantically, her face pale. “Y-yeah, of course. I-I won’t say anything.”

“Good,” she said, her smile returning to a more innocent facade. “Now, how about we paint your nails? I promise it’ll be fun.” As Wonyoung sat down, trying to steady her shaking hands, she selected a bright, cheerful color from her collection. The juxtaposition of the lighthearted activity and the dark secret hanging over them created a chilling tension in the room.

Her blood ran cold, and she tried to stand up, but her grip was suddenly iron-strong. “You're here because you're Sunghoon's friend,” she said, her voice eerily calm. “And that’s a problem.” Before the girl could react, she produced a pair of nail clippers, her smile never wavering. She held Wonyoung’s hand firmly, isolating her pointing finger. The girl struggled, but the grip was unyielding, the other hand trying to escape from her strong hold.

The sharp snip of the clippers echoed in the room, followed by the girl’s muffled cry. She carefully placed the newly clipped nail into her box, closing it again with a satisfied click. She released the girl, who bolted from the chair, clutching her bleeding finger.

“Remember this next time you think about talking to him, or you'll sniff the daisies from underneath sooner than you would have thought,” she said softly, watching with cold satisfaction as the girl fled in terror.

She could not pinpoint how she happened to be currently in her own kitchen. At 2:18 a.m. Her mind was a whirlwind of dark thoughts as she stood in the dim light, the only sound being the gentle hum of the refrigerator. Meticulously mixing the batter, her thoughts singularly focused on Minji, the girl who dared to call Sunghoon 'Hoonie' with such familiarity. It was a nickname that should only be hers to use, and the thought of Minji’s casual affection made her blood boil. Her movements were precise, almost methodical. As she measured out the ingredients, each step bringing her closer to her goal.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small vial of poison, its contents undetectable and deadly. With a practiced hand, she added a few drops into the batter, ensuring it blended seamlessly. The poison would be subtle, taking hours to take effect, giving no hint of its presence until it was too late.

The next day, during their study group, she brought a tray of freshly baked cupcakes, their sweet aroma filling the room. With a practiced smile, she approached the girl. “I baked these last night,” she said, her voice dripping with false warmth. “I know how much you love sweets, so I saved the best one just for you.”

Minji’s eyes lit up, grateful and unsuspecting. “Thank you! That’s so sweet of you,” she replied, taking the cupcake eagerly. She bit into it without a second thought, savoring the taste. Watching, her smile never wavering, as Minji enjoyed the treat. The study group continued as usual, with everyone focusing on their assignments and discussing their topics. Hours passed, and as the session came to an end, Minji began to feel the first signs of the poison taking effect. She winced, her hand clutching her stomach, but brushed it off as a mere stomachache.

Later that night, as Minji lay in bed, the pain intensified. The subtle poison worked its way through her system, causing excruciating pain. She gasped for breath, her body wracked with agony. Within hours, the poison claimed its victim, leaving Minji lifeless and cold. The lethal gift did its work.

The next day, news of Minji’s sudden and tragic death spread through the campus like wildfire. She could hear the whispers and saw the shocked faces of her peers. She wore a mask of concern, her eyes wide with faux sympathy. Inside, however, she felt a twisted sense of satisfaction, a smirk threatening to break through her facade.

“That’s terrible,” she said to a classmate, her voice laced with carefully crafted sorrow. “I can’t believe something like this happened.”

As the conversations around her continued, she maintained her act, but deep inside, she reveled in her success. Minji was no longer a threat.

She had been shadowing Sunghoon and his friends for weeks, blending into their group with ease. Today, she sat at their usual table in the bustling cafeteria, watching as Sunghoon chatted with Heeseung, Jay, and Wonyoung. Her heart pounded when a new figure approached the table: Joon, a charismatic student known for throwing the best parties.

“Hey, Sunghoon!” Joon called out, his voice brimming with excitement. “I’m throwing a party after the exams. You should totally come. It’s gonna be epic!”

Sunghoon looked up, a hint of hesitation in his eyes. “I don’t know, Joon. I’ve got a lot of studying to do even afterwards.”

Joon waved his hand dismissively while winking in Wonyoung's direction. “Come on, man! You can’t study all the time. It’ll be good to unwind. Plus, everyone’s going to be there.”

Clenching her jaw, her mind racing. This party was a threat, a potential distraction that could pull Sunghoon further away from her. Forcing a smile, she interjected, “A party sounds fun, but don’t you think it’s important to stay focused on your studies, Sunghoon?”

Joon laughed. “Lighten up! It’s just one night.”

Sunghoon finally nodded, though reluctantly. “Alright, I’ll try to make it.”

Her smile faltered, but she quickly recovered. There was no way of letting this new social connection ruin her plans.

She had been watching Joon for days, observing his every move. He who dared to invite Sunghoon to a party was an unequivocal threat to widen his social circle and pull him further away from her. Over several days, she slipped threatening notes and disturbing, gory images into his locker. Each message was more terrifying than the last, escalating his fear and paranoia.

“Stay away from Sunghoon, or you’ll regret it,” one note read, accompanied by a photo of a mutilated teddy bear.

His once confident demeanor crumbled. Dark circles formed under his eyes as he lost sleep. His grades slipped, the terror consuming his thoughts. She watched with satisfaction as he became a shadow of his former self.

One night, as he walked home from another party, his steps were slow and weary. She followed silently, her movements careful and calculated. The streets were empty, the only sounds were the distant hum of traffic and the occasional rustle of leaves. She stayed in the shadows, her eyes fixed on her prey.

When he turned into a dark alley, she made her move. In one swift motion, she wrapped a garrote wire around his throat, pulling it tight. His eyes bulged in shock, his hands clawing at the wire, trying to scream but only managing a strangled gasp. The struggle was brief and silent, the wire cutting deep and fast, severing his cries and his life.

His lifeless body dropped to the ground, a pool of blood forming beneath him. She stood over him for a moment, watching the life fade from his eyes. The thrill of control and power coursed through her veins, a dark satisfaction settling in her chest. She wiped the wire clean and slipped it back into her pocket, leaving the scene as silently as she had arrived, smiling proudly.

The next day, the campus buzzed with the news of the boy’s tragic and mysterious death. She mingled once again with the concerned and the curious, her face a mask of shock and sadness.

Inside, she felt a twisted sense of triumph. One less distraction for Sunghoon, one step closer to securing him for herself.

She had always been meticulous in her surveillance of Sunghoon. Her obsession with him had led her to follow him discreetly, ensuring she was never far from his side. One evening, she decided to trail him after he left the university, curious about his destination.

As she followed him through the bustling streets, her heart pounded with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Sunghoon turned into a small cinema, a place she hadn’t expected. She bought a ticket and followed him inside, maintaining a safe distance. Her eyes widened in shock and fury when she saw him with a girl from another university, their hands intertwined. They were laughing and seemed entirely engrossed in each other.

Her mind raced with thoughts of betrayal and rage. Who was this girl? How dare she come between her and Sunghoon? She gritted her teeth, her hands clenching into fists. As they left the cinema, she snapped a few photos of them together, her mind already forming a plan to eliminate this new threat.

The basement was cold and dimly lit, every corner meticulously organized to ensure no sound escaped. There she stood in the center, a chilling smile playing on her lips as she looked at the bound and gagged girl in front of her. Sunghoon’s alleged girlfriend, now nothing more than a terrified captive, was tied to a heavy wooden chair, her eyes wide with fear.

“I warned you,” she began, her voice soft and deceptively kind. “I warned you to stay away from Sunghoon.” She picked up a pair of pliers from the metal tray beside her, the dim lightglinting off the sharp metal. "But apparently, threatening letters and dead rats at your door do not bother you."

The girl’s sobs grew louder, her pleas muffled by the gag. The girl struggled futilely against her bonds as she approached, pliers in hand. “Sadly, you didn’t listen,” she continued, a hint of mockery in her tone. “Now, you’re going to pay the price.”

With brutal efficiency, she gripped the girl’s jaw, forcing her mouth open. The girl’s screams were stifled by the gag, her eyes rolling back in agony as the first tooth was ripped out. Blood poured from her mouth, splattering onto the floor. One by one, the teeth were extracted, each accompanied by a fresh wave of pain and muffled screams. She hummed a cheerful tune as she worked, placing each bloodied tooth carefully into a small jar. When she was done, she stepped back, admiring her handiwork. The girl’s mouth was a bloody ruin, her sobs now reduced to weak, incoherent moans.

“Look at you,” she said, holding up the jar of teeth. “Such a pretty collection. I think I’ll make something special out of these. Maybe a ring? Or a necklace? Sunghoon always had a taste in unique jewelry.” She set the jar aside and leaned in close, her face inches from the girl’s. “You should’ve stayed out of Sunghoon’s business,” she hissed. “You should’ve known better than to try and take him from me.”

The girl’s eyes were filled with a mix of terror and confusion, her pleas unintelligible. Only laughing, a cold, mirthless sound. “Help me! Help me! No one can hear you,” she mocked. “No one is coming to save you.”

Growing tired of the girl’s incomprehensible cries, she grabbed a large butcher knife from the tray. With one swift motion, she severed the girl’s hand at the wrist. Blood gushed from the wound, and the girl’s screams reached a new, agonizing pitch. “Gosh, stop whining like a bitch and take it!” she snapped, covering her ears. The girl’s continued screams grated on her nerves, driving her to the edge of her patience. Finally, in a fit of frustration, she slashed the girl’s throat. The screams stopped abruptly, replaced by a gurgling sound as blood poured from the fatal wound.

She stood back, watching the life drain from the girl’s eyes. Once she was certain the girl was dead, she set to work with a grim determination. The body was dragged to a large vat of acid she had prepared earlier. She pushed the body into the vat, watching as the flesh began to dissolve, the room filling with the acrid smell of burning skin.

While the acid did its work, she carefully cleaned and dried the severed hands, removing every trace of blood. She placed them in a transparent box, admiring the grotesque display. As she closed the lid on the box, she couldn’t help but smile. Everything was falling into place. Sunghoon would be hers, and no one would stand in her way.

Ascending the basement stairs, her steps slow and methodical. She had cleaned up everything meticulously, ensuring no trace of her gruesome act remained—except for the vat of acid, its contents now dissolving away any evidence. As she emerged from the basement, a wave of nausea suddenly overwhelmed her.

Staggering towards the bathroom, she could feel the bile rising in her throat. She barely made it to the sink before she began to vomit, her body convulsing with each heave. The acidic taste of bile burned her throat, tears streaming down her face as she purged the contents of her stomach.

When the retching finally subsided, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, her breathing ragged. She glanced up at the mirror above the sink, her reflection barely recognizable behind her disheveled bangs. Her eyes, wide and wild, stared back at her. Slowly, a hysterical laugh bubbled up from within her, mingling with her tears.

Her laugh grew louder, more unhinged, as she gazed at her reflection. Tears of anguish and frustration streamed down her cheeks, but she couldn’t stop laughing. The sound echoed off the bathroom walls, a chilling mix of mirth and madness.

Without warning, she drew back her fist and smashed it into the mirror. The glass shattered, shards flying in all directions, some embedding in her knuckles. Blood mingled with the tears on her face as she stood there, panting and trembling.

The remnants of the mirror reflected her fractured image. She stared at the jagged pieces for a moment, her breathing shallow and erratic. Then, her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the bathroom floor, her body racked with sobs.

She lay there, the cold tiles pressing against her skin, her mind a chaotic storm of emotions. The reality of her actions crashed over her, the weight of her obsession and the depths of her madness suffocating her. But even in her despair, a dark satisfaction lingered. Sunghoon was one step closer to being hers, and no one else would ever come between them again.

Lying on the floor, her vision began to blur. She closed her eyes, tears still streaming down her face. Slowly, she began to mouth the lyrics of one of her favorite songs. Her voice was barely a whisper, but the words held a twisted kind of comfort for her.

"This may become a little brutal if I'm honest," she mouthed, her lips forming the words with deliberate care. Her voice was shaky, filled with both desperation and determination. "But it's any- anything for you my dear, I promise."

The words echoed in her mind, a haunting lullaby that mirrored her descent into madness. As the last line left her lips, her strength gave out completely. Her consciousness slipped away, leaving her lying on the cold bathroom floor, surrounded by broken glass and blood.

The house was silent except for the faint hum of distant traffic. In the dim light, her body lay still, a testament to the lengths she would go for her obsession. The darkness enveloped her, a temporary reprieve from the chaos within.

The night was thick with foreboding as Wonyoung finally gathered the courage to approach Sunghoon, her voice trembling with the weight of the secrets she carried. They were alone in a secluded corner of the campus, the moon casting a pale light over the deserted grounds.

“Sunghoon, we need to talk. You have to know the truth,” Wonyoung said, her eyes wide with urgency. Sunghoon looked at her, concern etched across his face. "What's wrong, Wonyoung?" "It's about her. The new strange girl," Wonyoung began, her eyes darting around as if she feared being overheard. "I went to her house. She invited me to paint my nails, but… Sunghoon, she showed me her collection of painted nails. They were real, from girls she saw as a threat. Her house is full of evidence. She's dangerous!"

Sunghoon stared at her, his face a canvas of shock and disbelief. “Wonyoung, what are you saying? Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure,” Wonyoung replied, her voice cracking. “She did this. She ripped off my nail." Saying that, the girl shows Sunghoon her bandaged pointer finger. Tears filling her eyes. "I barely got away. I think she's the one behind all the murders. You have to believe me. Please.”

Lurking nearby, she overheard every single word. "I couldn't help but overhear," she continued, her voice dangerously soft. "You seem to have some serious accusations against me, Wony~."

Sunghoon and Wonyoung turned to face her, both startled.

A sinister smile curled on her lips as she stepped into the light, her presence as chilling as the night itself. “It’s funny,” she said, her voice smooth as silk, “hearing you two talk like this. I had no idea you were so concerned about my little secrets.”

Wonyoung's face turned white. "Stay away from us."

Her eyes glinted with malice as she approached them, her steps measured and deliberate. “You’ve got it all wrong,” she continued, her tone mocking. “I have nothing to hide. In fact, why don’t you come with me? Let’s have a little chat at my place. It’s a bit of a mess, but I’m sure you’ll find it quite… revealing.”

Wonyoung hesitated, her suspicion palpable. “Why would we go to your house? You could be lying.”

Sunghoon, desperate to make sense of everything, placed a reassuring hand on Wonyoung’s shoulder. “Wony, those accusations are severe. We need to see it for ourselves. I have to know the truth.”

Wonyoung grabbed his arm. "No, Sunghoon, it's a trap!"

Yet Sunghoon reassured her, his determination unshaken. "I have to do this, Wonyoung."

Reluctantly, Wonyoung nodded, as she cannot leave her friend alone, and together they followed to her house, each step echoing with foreboding silence. Inside, the house was eerily quiet, the atmosphere heavy with tension. She led them to the living room, her smile still unsettlingly calm.

“Would you like some water?” she asked, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “It’s been a long night.”

Wonyoung eyed the glass of water suspiciously. “No, thank you. I’ll pass.”

Sunghoon, however, nodded. “I’ll have some.”

With a sardonic grin, she handed Sunghoon the glass. “To your health,” she said, her eyes sparkling with malice. “I promise, there’s nothing in it.”

As Sunghoon drank, Wonyoung’s gaze remained fixed on her, mind racing with doubt. “Sunghoon, be careful,” she whispered, but her words were drowned out by the sound of the glass clinking against Sunghoon’s lips.

Minutes later, Sunghoon’s eyes fluttered shut, the dissolved sleeping pill taking effect. Wonyoung watched in horror as he slumped forward, the glass slipping from his fingers and shattering on the floor. Before the girl could react, she felt a sharp sense of pain. Directly after, she crumpled, unconsciously to the floor.

“Come on, Wony. It’s time to play,” she said with a sinister smile, her voice dripping with malice. “Let’s see how much Sunghoon really cares about you.”

The basement door creaked open, revealing a room shrouded in darkness. Leading Wonyoung down the stairs, the air growing colder with each step. At the bottom, the dim light revealed a scene of horror—chains hanging from the wall and a heavy chair on the opposing side.

When they woke up, Wonyoung found herself chained to the wall by her hands and legs, while Sunghoon was tied to a heavy chair in front of her. Panic surged through them as they realized their predicament.

Wonyoung struggled against her bonds, fear and confusion flooding her senses. “Sunghoon! Wake up! We have to get out of here!”

She stood before them, her eyes gleaming with twisted delight. "Welcome to my game room," she said. "Tonight, we'll play a little game."

Her laugh echoed through the room, chilling and triumphant. “Oh, don’t worry, Wonyoung. You’re going to be a part of it as well, of course."

She picked up a set of knives, twirling one in her hand. "Sunghoon, your task is simple. You have three tries to hit Wonyoung in the head with these knives. If you succeed, I will admit to everything and set you free." She paused, a cruel smile curling her lips. "If you fail, you might as well never see the light of day. Same goes to your friends and family. It's quite simple, really."

Sunghoon, bound to the heavy chair, shook his head in disbelief. “Please, don’t do this. I’ll do anything, just don’t make me hurt Wonyoung.”

Her eyes burned with cold resolve. “You don’t have a choice, Sunghoon. You must play. Now, shall we begin.”

She handed Sunghoon a knife, its blade gleaming ominously in the dim light. Sunghoon’s hands trembled as he took it, his mind reeling with fear and desperation. Missing on purpose, the knife embedding itself harmlessly in the wall. Wonyoung's pleas for him to hit her filled the room, her voice desperate and tearful.

“Do it, Sunghoon! For all our sakes, do it!” Wonyoung shouted, her voice breaking.

Sunghoon closed his eyes, the knife in his hand feeling like lead. He threw for the second time, but it missed, clattering harmlessly to the floor. “I can’t do it,” he muttered, his voice breaking. “I can’t hurt you, Wonyoung. I can’t.”

He couldn’t bring himself to do it. With each throw, he missed, refusing to harm his friend. Her smile widening with each miss.

Her smile faded, replaced by a fake expression of disappointment. “Seems like you’re not as perfect as I made you out to be,” she hissed. “Well, you’ve failed. And we do play fair here. Wonyoung, being your friend, makes her my first win.”

Wonyoung’s screams pierced the air as she lunged forward with a knife. The blade sank into her chest, the sound of her agony echoing through the basement. Sunghoon’s heart shattered, his screams mingling with Wonyoung’s, the room turning into a scene of unspeakable horror.

As Wonyoung’s life ebbed away, she sat on Sunghoon’s lap, her knife still in hand.

As she gazed at Sunghoon, her lips slowly curled into a smile that could freeze the blood in your veins. It started innocently enough, a slight upturn at the corners of her mouth. But then, it spread wider, unnaturally so, stretching across her face like a mask. Her eyes, once filled with feigned warmth, now glinted with a dangerous intensity, pupils dilating as if she were a predator honing in on her prey.

The smile revealed perfectly straight teeth, each one gleaming with a chilling, predatory sheen. Her upper lip lifted just enough to expose a hint of gum, adding an unsettling, almost feral quality to her expression. It was a smile that promised not joy or kindness, but a twisted satisfaction, as if she were savoring some private, malevolent joke.

Her head tilted slightly to one side. The contrast between the sweet, almost childish tilt and the dark promise behind her grin was jarring, creating a dissonance that sent shivers down the spine of anyone who saw it. It was a smile that hinted at hidden depths of obsession and a readiness to do anything—absolutely anything—to keep Sunghoon for herself.

This was no ordinary smile; it was a harbinger of the lengths she would go to, the boundaries she would cross. It was the kind of smile that made you realize, too late, that you were already ensnared in her web.

“Mmm, look at you,” she whispered, her voice a dangerous purr. “You’re pathetic, Sunghoon. You let her die because you couldn’t do what was necessary. You’re not the hero you thought you were.”

Sunghoon’s eyes burned with hatred and disgust. “I hate you,” he spat, his voice trembling with rage. “I wish I’d never met you. You’re a monster.”

Her smile faltered, eyes flashing with fury. She jumped up, the knife still clutched in her hand. “You don’t understand, Sunghoon. I did all this for you! I dedicated everything to you! After everything I've done for you? After all the sacrifices, how dare you say something so lethal to me!”

She began to rant, her voice rising hysterically. "You wanna know a fact? Your stupid girlfriend is in that goddamn vat," she pointed to a large container in the corner, "I made fucking jewelry out of her teeth! I did it all for you! Because I fucking love you!"

Sunghoon’s words cut through her madness. “I hate you. I never want to see you again, nor will I ever love you!”

In a fit of rage, she lunged at him, her knife flashing through the air, stabbing him repeatedly while screaming, "How can you say that? How can you not see my love?!" She didn’t stop until the room was filled with the sound of his final, choked gasp. His lifeless body fell to the floor, a silent testament to her unbridled fury.

Sunghoon's blood splattered across the room as he slumped forward, lifeless. She stepped back, panting, realizing the enormity of what she had done.

As the reality sank in, she started sobbing hysterically. "No, no Sunghoon! Wake up!" she pleaded, shaking his lifeless form. Tears streamed down her face as she fell to her knees, her sobs echoing through the cold basement. “I’m sorry, Sunghoon. I’m so, so sorry,” she whispered, her voice breaking with every word. She reached out to him, her hands trembling, but it was too late. He was gone.

Her mind raced, the reality of her actions crashing down on her like a tidal wave. She had killed him, the one person she had claimed to love. The despair was overwhelming, the weight of her guilt crushing her spirit. She grabbed the knife, her hands shaking as she considered ending it all. Her fingers brushed against her throat, the blade’s edge cold and unforgiving.

But then, the distant sound of sirens cut through the silence, pulling her back from the edge. The police were coming. She had to flee. With a final, anguished scream, she stumbled to the emergency exit, her footsteps echoing through the dark basement.

She burst through the door, the fresh air biting at her skin like icy needles. The night was alive with the wail of sirens, the flashing lights slicing through the darkness, growing ever closer. She ran, her legs pounding against the grass, her breath ragged and desperate. The relentless police lights grew brighter behind her, a haunting reminder that she could never escape her sins.

As the sirens blared louder, panic clawed at her throat. She made a final, desperate decision. She couldn’t face the world, not after what she had done. The knife glinted in her hand, its blade sharp and cold, a harbinger of release. She raised it to her throat, trembling as she prepared to end it all. But then, the shouts of the approaching officers pierced the night, their voices urgent and commanding. The reality of her situation hit her like a sledgehammer, knocking the breath from her lungs.

With a final, choked sob, she dropped the knife, her strength evaporating as her body collapsed to the ground. The police swarmed around her, their voices a distant echo, their hands rough as they pulled her from the cold ground. Darkness clawed at the edges of her vision, dragging her down into its merciless embrace. The last thing she saw was the flashing lights, the sirens wailing a mournful dirge, a cruel reminder of the hell she had created for herself.

As consciousness slipped away, a final, despairing thought flickered in her mind: Sunghoon. His name was a whispered lament, a ghost of a hope that had long since died. And then, there was nothing but darkness.
