Star Wars Tlj - Tumblr Posts
This honestly makes me sad. đ
The sequels aren't exactly my cup of tea, but I'm not going to put someone down because they like something different than I do.
In the end, whether you're a fan of the originals, the prequels, the sequels, the animated shows, the comics, the books, legends, canon...
We are all in this fandom because it's STAR WARS.
It has inspired us and struck a chord in our hearts and pulled us into this amazing world of spaceships and lightsabers, jedi and sith, rebels and empires, rouges and outlaws, strange creatures and fantastic aliens.
Please know that there are people in this fandom that aren't toxic.
Even though I'm not much for the sequels, I'm actually writing an alternate ending for "The Rise of Skywalker" because a friend talked about how she wished it ended differently, and it inspired me to write a different ending for her.
So, from one Star Wars fan to another, stay strong out there! There are nice people in this fandom.
Have an awesome day, and may the force be with you!
Sincerely,
Nocturnal-Nexu đđ±

Rey had learned that the Force was not her instrumentâthat, in fact, it was the other way around. Just as Kylo was its instrument, despite his determination to bend it to his will. He would learn that one day, she sensedâthe Force wasnât finished with him.

Darth Vader vs Captain Phasma
Let me start by saying that I apologize for the coming post. I know a lot of people love the Star Wars sequel trilogy and characters, but Iâm angry about this right now.
Disclaimer: This argument is based solely on the movies, NOT Resistance/comics/books/etc.!!
As a Star Wars fan, I am very disappointed in the sequel trilogy. There are many problems with it.
The fact that J.J. Abrams admitted that the trilogy would have been better if they had a plan
The three movies are not very cohesive in telling one story/there seems to be no one superior goal in mind to accomplish by the end of the trilogy
The characters development is nearly nonexistent and honestly pathetic
The characters had so much wasted potential
The amount of fan service was astounding and it still doesnât make up for the other atrocities of this trilogy
The story wasnât very compelling
Making money was the primary objective
There are many good things in the trilogy and things that I liked but overall it is my least favorite part of Star Wars. It makes me angry simply because its so repetitive and confusing.
Was Snoke a Sith Lord? If he was, why wasnât it made clear to the audience in the movies he is supposed to be a major villain in? If he wasnât, then bringing Palpatine back breaks the Sith Rule of Two. How did he rise to power? Who is he? Where was he throughout the franchise?
These are questions about one character, that anyone might have after just watching the movies.
Who formed the First Order and when? How did it become as powerful as the Empire? How was the New Republic reduced to almost nothing over a couple decades?
The storytelling is so incomplete. There are so many gaps and plot holes.
The antagonist across the trilogy is whiny, not very intimidating, has a poorly developed origin story, and questionable motives that are so vague that it is difficult to inderstand his reasoning and beliefs. In the end, he is redeemed only to die after some slight consideration and persuasion from the main protagonist. So he rethinks his entire life and trauma because a woman told him he could do better? Thatâs not how real disturbed people thinkâŠ
The main villain of the third movie wasnât even present (or even known to be alive) for the first two movies in the trilogy. The movie starts and all of the sudden âsomehowâŠpalpatine returned.â Thatâs it?? Thatâs the explanation? How did he survive? How did he get to Exegol? How did all of those star destroyers get on Exegol? The Empire was gone, his army was dismantled, few lotalists remained. Was he cloned? Because honestly, Iâve seen the movie several times and Iâm still confused. It doesnât make any sense.
Not only is Palpatine alive, but the main protagonist is his granddaughter. So much for âyou donât have to be somebody to be important, as long as you work hard, you can achieve anything.â Now Rey has force abilities that she never had before (or that didnât even exist in the franchise before this)?
Reyâs character is so tragic because she had so much potential and it was wasted. She was abandoned as a child and is forced to scavenge around dangerous wreckage to make a living supporting herself on one of the worst planets in the galaxy. Does she hold that against her parents? No, she hopes that her parents will come back for her. She gets anxious when sheâs been gone for a while because sheâs afraid theyâll finally come when sheâs away. She never let herself become bitter or hateful. She was hopeful, innocent, and passionate. However, her character develops to make it her personal mission to take on the First Order and Kylo Ren if itâs the last thing she does and sheâs plagued by stubbornness and self awareness of her power and strength as a Jedi.
This annoys me deeply. Her character never really progressed from this from TLJ to ROS either. Itâs almost like its a different person from TFA Rey, despite TLJ immediately following TFA in the timeline.
Iâd also like to point out that Poeâs character was also shit on by the writers, especially in ROS. For the first two and a half movies his entire character can be summed up as: Iâm a hotshot flyboy; I want to fight no matter the consequences; I fly X-wings; I have an adorable droid that I am highly protective over. Thatâs it. And then, in ROS, suddenly its revealed that he was a former criminal and drug smuggler?? Poe? Poe Dameron?? What?
How about Finnâs character only being in the background to yell âREYYYYâ whenever she puts herself in harms way (which is often). The amazing lightsaber duel against Kylo Ren? In which Finn held his own for a decently long time considering he had little to no training with a weapon of that kind against someone proficient in the ways of the dark side (which typically made force users more ruthless in their attacks)? Doesnât matter. The hints of his force-sensitivity? What hints? Finn, a Jedi?? Hahaha, no.
Dont even get me started on Rose. Great backstory, sister sacrificed herself for the cause during a desperate hour and saved the day, but in doing so left her grieving sister behind. Beautiful. Rose was such a big part of TLJâs plot and then sheâs just kinda there for ROS...itâs sad. Not to mention the romance between Rose and Finn that was never developed??
You know what, all of the protagonists were done dirty, as well as their actors. Itâs clear what Disneyâs goal was: making money, and lots of it. How do we convince people to buy movie tickets/merchandise/toys/etc.?? Well, letâs cast some minority actors/actresses to make people think theyâre going to be represented only for the white manâs character to be the most developed by the end of the trilogy. Daisy Ridley (a woman), John Boyega (a Black man), Oscar Issac (a Latino man), and Kelly Marie Tran (an Asian woman) were cast as protagonists. And who got the most attention/praise/development? Adam Driver (a White man). Dont get me wrong, Adam Driver is a great actor and he did an amazing job with what he was given, but really?
Even the returning characters were poorly handled. Lukeâs character development is controversial so Iâll stay away, but Han?? So they decided after ROTJ that Han was the type to leave his wife and son to travel with his best friend?? Uh ok
The sequel trilogyâs plot, if you can even say that, is so repetitive to the original trilogy itâs embarrassing. A force-sensitive main protagonist, whose parents abandoned them and left them to live on a desert planet to avoid the truth about their family heritage, met an old guy that was significant earlier in his life, went on a quest with him which effectively roped them into fighting the fascist dictatorship controlling the galaxy that they previously didnât give a shit about, teamed up with an ex-imperial deserter along the way, was trained by a different old guy that was also significant earlier in his life but decided to exile himself and live in seclusion because some of his padawans were murdered by the Skywalker villain, learned the truth about their family and the darkness within their blood, became a great unofficial Jedi knight anyways, destroyed weapons capable of obliterating entire planets, and eventually defeated Palpatine by teaming up with the main Skywalker antagonist that sacrificed themselves to save the main protagonistâs life. Sound familiar?
Itâs truly sad. If you look into George Lucasâ plan for the sequel trilogy before he sold Star Wars to Disney, youâll find that itâs much better different from what we got and it is actually pretty similar to what The Mandalorian is trying to portray. (Maul was brought back from the dead to be the sequel trilogyâs big bad guy but we never got it)
Itâs the sameâŠ

The master antagonist, the apprentice antagonist, the antagonist kiss-ass, and the main protagonistâŠ
Someone needs to write a reylo 'breakfast club' au fast
If you have any reylo porn please send it to me before December 17
Honestly, as a Reylo shipper, I do get how it's toxic
I got so used to Fanon Kylo Ren/Ben Solo that I'm used to him actually learning how to be a good person and facing the consequences of his actions. There's a clearer depiction of his inner pain and conflict that made him so interesting to me.
If you're a casual viewer that doesn't read fanfic though, you don't get the same character development, you don't get that earned redemption. You get a cheap death and a forced kiss from two people who repeatedly tried to kill one another.
I fell in love with the potential of these characters and stayed in love with what wonderful artists and writers have done with them, not the actual canon.

I hate love triangles!!
Rey doesnât love Finn and pitting her against Rose for the sake of drama is stupid.
Besides, Rey has the hots for a certain troubled young man named Ben Solo who goes by the name of Kylo Ren.
Reblog if your blog does not support pitting Rey and Rose against each other.
Turned 30 nearly two months ago, married nearly a year, no children as of yet but we do want a little DefCon or three or five, we have a cat that doesnât always get along with his parentsâ two cats but itâs gotten better since they first met and Iâm unemployed.
I boarded the Reylo Ship sometime between TFA and RO. I didnât see it but Reylos started pointing things out and I stopped and gave the Ship some thought and saw that their arguments were valid and boarded it and havenât really looked back.
One of my sisters, I have seven, who I talk to on a regular basis doesnât believe in Reylo and because she isnât impressed with the new movies isnât going to watch them without someone else, me possibly, pushing her to watch with them.
How many otherâs of the Reylo fam are 30 or older with jobs, kids, ect??? Just curious to see if Iâm a minority and also to meet some people who are around my age that share my love of this awesome ship!Â
Yes, yes, yes!
In TLJ, the first scene between Kylo and Snoke emphasizes that Snoke only values Kylo for his heritage, not for who he is
The final scene between Kylo and Rey emphasizes that Kylo values Rey for who she is, not her heritage
Kylo may have said it in the most assbackwards Mr-Darcy-level-idiotic way possible, but donât you dare tell me that was him trying to manipulate or abuse her. That boy has been told for years that he wouldnât matter if not for his grandfather, and now, in front of his abuserâs dead body, heâs affirming that someone else matters to him in a way he never mattered to his abuser.
Reblog if you ship reylo and feel really good about it.
The moment when you realize that the novelization for TLJ begins with Luke fantasizing/dreaming about never leaving Tatooine isnât him escaping reality for while but a hint that on some level he believes that by leaving Tatooine, joining the Rebellion and becoming a Jedi the galaxy is worst off for it. And then you realize that his words and actions to Rey reflect this.
Luke, for a time, truly believed that the galaxy would be better off under the rule of the Empire, for the Death Star to still exist, for the Rebellion to be dead or in tatters than for him to have left Tatooine with Obi-Wan and helped bring the Empire to itsâ knees.

I donât think many people are familiar with how the military works and I heard that the mock court martial either acquitted Poe or all charges or found him not guilty but I didnât watch it and only read what the panel found.
I think too it boils down to âa hero should be right/in the rightâ and people forget that the heroes arenât always right and there were people that wanted Poe to be in the right without considering just how freaking stupid Poe was and that he got a lot of people killed all in the name of pride.
People wanted Holdo to somehow be villainess or something to give credence to Poeâs actions without stopping to see how his earlier and present behavior didnât exactly instill confidence in his abilities to Holdo.
As I mentioned, he disobeyed a direct order from General Organa, heck he freaking hung up on her because he didnât want to listen to her order his butt back to the ship because he wanted to destroy that Dreadnought and he didnât care what it would take as long as it was destroyed and they could brag about it.
Sidenote: Cobalt Squadron, the bombers, had been under Vice Admiral Holdoâs command but she had offered their services to Leia so Poe ordered people that Holdo had been responsible to their deaths.
Someone, I canât remember where exactly, suggested that Poe and the others that helped him mutiny, seeing that they seemed to be his age and younger, were raised on the stories of the Rebellion and how orders had been disobeyed and it had won them the day. The Rebellion was being disbanded after the discovery of the Death Star but a band of saboteurs decided that they were going to go to where the Death Star Plans were stored and steal them which in turn encouraged others to go and help and they ultimately succeeded in stealing the Death Star Plans and won their first major victory against the Empire, Poe who was the son of two Rebels was sure to have heard a watered down version of what happened at Scarif so why wouldnât this be any different?
Either way Poe had proven to Holdo that she couldnât fully trust him to obey any orders she gave him since everyone probably knew that he hung up on General Organa and if he was willing to disobey orders from superior officer he supposedly respected because he didnât like the orders than heâs even less likely to obey orders he doesnât like or agree with from an unfamiliar superior officer.
Then you have his insistence that she share her plan with him in unsecured locations in front of people while theyâre being chased by the enemy that followed them through Hyperspace, which should be impossible.
People have argued that Holdo could have said the presence of a possible spy was why she wasnât sharing her plan but she didnât owe this disrespectful pilot anything no matter what people might say.
Poe doesnât think things through. If he through he would have realized that he needed to put his pride aside and tell Admiral Holdo about how the First Order was tracking them and how they could stop it long enough to escape into Hyperspace instead of giving Finn, a First Order Deserter, and Rose, a mechanic, a mission to find a Code Breaker a former pirate told them about so they can slip aboard the Supremacy.
Holdo was right to freak out at Poe when she learned what he had done. He had compromised the Resistance on a âmaybeâ.
It seems that Poe was a victim of the Deadly Sin Pride. He had been right so many times before that surely he couldnât be wrong about this or this.
Hoesntly I think he was a moron for having someone untrained in espionage to be a spy. Yes, no one would suspect a clumsy idiot like Kaz as a spy but Kaz wasnât trained, as he says to Poe at one point, in the art of being a spy and spies need to know how to not jump to conclusions since that is dangerous and using his real name allows anyone to look him up, Captain Doza sure did, and learn that he used to be a New Republic pilot who, out of the blue, decided to settle on a refueling station in the middle of nowhere and become a mechanic, a terrible one at that, with hopes of one day becoming a racer. Anyone working for the First Order on the platform is going know or learn heâs probably a Resistance Spy and either get rid of him or keep an eye on him and report what they see Kaz doing to their superiors.
TL; DR Poe is a prideful moron that may or may not have learned his lesson.. Â
1/2 Itâs really annoying that there are people that think Poe was right to go behind Adm Holdoâs back or that she was wrong to without information from him. Come on people! Poe ignored a direct command from General Organa and as a result lost the Resistance ALL their bombers and acts like a spoiled child when Leia rightfully demoted him and when Holdo rightfully refuses to bring him in on the plan. He asks in front of others when theyâre somehow being tracked by the enemy.
2/2 âPoe didnât tell Holdo HOW the FO was tracking them and that there was a way to stop it long enough for them to escape and continues to act childish when Holdo refuses to tell him the plan when he asks in front of potential spies. He even discusses the Resistanceâs plan without knowing if thereâs any unwanted ears listening in. If he had kept his mouth shut and trusted his commanding officer the Resistance would have escaped the FO without losing so many.â
*****************
Poeâs lesson of the day was how to be a good subordinate and have respect for your commanding officer, even if you donât know them or trust the way they operate, because if they give you certain orders, itâs for a reason. And that âheroic sacrificeâ should be a very last resort, not just tossing soldiers to their probable deaths like itâs going out of style.
The Dameron/Amilyn storyline was pretty definitively explained right after TLJ was released. A group of Star Wars fans who are lawyers even put Poe on mock court-martial at SD Comic Con. If some people donât understand or want to acknowledge the concept of chain of command, or donât appreciate the subversion of the ârogue hotshot is always rightâ trope, or are just plain sexist, thatâs on them.
A Friendly Reminder for Star Wars Fans
GleTake a deep breath and then let it out.
Speculation in of itself isnât bad but you canât allow your preconceived notions or desires to give you tunnel vision.
When people heard that Domhnall Gleeson had been cast there was a lot of speculation that he was going to be playing Ben Skywalker despite the fact that Disney and LucasFilm both said that the Legends werenât Canon and werenât going to be used but it didnât stop the rumors/speculation that Gleeson was playing Lukeâs son even when it came out that Gleeson was playing a character named âGeneral Huxâ it didnât fully shut down the speculation just shifted it to âis âHuxâ his Motherâs surname name and if so why does he have her surname and not his fatherâs?â and âWhy is he a soldier instead of a Jedi?â I think the speculation/rumors that he was Lukeâs son died with the reveals that he was helping lead the bad guys and his Father was a former Imperial.
People speculated on who Finn was and some might remember or be aware that before the release of TFA someone was selling something on Amazon featuring Finn and gave him the last name âCalrissianâ despite there being no proof or anything in the promotional material. The more reasonable speculation for a long time was that Finn is Force Sensitive or would be a Jedi because he was shown with a lightsaber in a lot of the promotional material and the jury, last I knew, is still out on whether or not Finn is Force Sensitive and if he is he is and if heâs not than heâs not; Iâm not going to cry over it since you donât need the Force to be a good person or a good hero in Star Wars.
Rey, there was and still is so much speculation about her origins that Iâm not completely sure where to begin other than she was anyone from Leia and Hanâs daughter to Lukeâs daughter to a clone to a reincarnated Anakin Skywalker to being a descendant of Obi-Wan or a descendant of Palpatine. And speculation/rumors for why she was on Jakku ranged anywhere from victim of kidnapping, if she was a Solo or Skywalker, and dumped there or purposely placed there to keep her safe for one reason or another, usually because of the Second Jedi Purge if she was a Skywalker or Solo, to she was hidden there to keep her safe or if she was Lukeâs than her mother dumped her there to get back at Luke for âreasonsâ or her parents left her because she was âweirdâ or someone was chasing them and they wanted to keep her safe etc. And then we learn in TLJ, FROM HER OWN MOUTH, that her parents were just the average scavengers on Jakku. But it hasnât stopped the speculation that it was a lie.
Moving on to TLJ I donât remember too much about FAMILIAL rumors except the the average âReyâs going to be revealed as either Lukeâs daughter or Leia and Hanâs daughterâ. BUT when LucasFilm shared the first line of the TLJ novelization and it contained the phrase âLuke dreamed about his wifeâ it seemed fans lost their minds and people seemed to hope that the novelization contained the proof that Reyâs parents were nobodies that sold her for money and are now dead was all a lie only to have those hopes dashed into billions of pieces as soon as they opened the book and itâs quickly revealed that the entire first chapter is all a fantasy dream where Luke never left Tatooine, married the girl he had a crush on, took over his uncleâs Moisture Farm and the Empire won.
Now weâve reached Episode IX and the speculation about the new cast members. The moment fans saw that they were looking for a woman to play a character that seemed to fit the role of an assassin they immediately started to speculate that they were bringing Mara Jade into Canon, Disney did it with fan favorite Thrawn so they no doubt would be doing the same with Mara, and when the news hit that Keri Russell had been cast for a role the speculation grew a little stronger.
We will have to wait until promotional material is released or maybe until December 20th to learn exactly who Ms Russell is playing and whether or not she was hired for the above role or a different role.Â
Please, donât just assume that just because theyâre looking for an actor/actress with certain skills or backrounds or have certain features/characteristics that theyâre going to be playing so-and-so. Itâs better to keep hopes and expectations low so youâre not disappointed too much if your favorite character doesnât make the cut: itâs better to have no expectations and be surprised when they do show up than to get excited about the possibility of your favorite character appearing only for them to not appear.
I have wanted to say this for awhile and now Iâm going to say it.
By saying that Reyâs parents sold her into slavery to protect her in TRoS they went from drunks/addicts looking for their next fix that did something morally reprehensible for their addiction on one level or another we could understand that they were sick and while being sick didnât justify or make them selling their daughter into slavery any less horrific we have real world examples of people doing horrible things that they normally wouldnât do to feed their addictions.
Now instead of being addicts with a terrible, yet sadly understandable, excuse they knowingly and willfully sell their daughter into slavery to âprotectâ her from Sidious and those searching for her; knowing full well that she would be starved, beaten and might meet an early death due to mistreatment. Itâs just as morally reprehensible as before the retcon without the understanding that they were sick and their addictions were more important than their child.
Honestly I prefer the alcoholic/drug addicts parents to the supposed noble parents that sacrificed themselves for her.
If they wanted to make her parents noble they SHOULD have had her parents leave her with another couple and after some time the couple she had been left with sold her for money to feed their addictions.
There, you have noble parents yet donât make them horrible parents by having them be the ones that sold her into slavery.
I am not justifying addicts behavior in any way; just saying that when youâre addicted you do things that you normally wouldnât do to feed it.
