This was done as a commission for someone who wanted me to approach my version of the Mermaid of Warsaw (which is a symbol for the city). The story of the mermaid was that she was swimming in the Vistula and stopped to rest. She liked this part of the river and decided to stay, which caught the attention of locals in Warsaw. They planned to trap her, but all fell in love with the sound of her voice. Despite this a rich member of the community trapped her against her will. The other residents heard her cries for help and came and rescued the mermaid. Since then she has been armed with a sword and a shield, ready to help protect Warsaw and its residents.

A piece reflecting on hearing people who tell artists “if you get politically/socially involved or speak about the marginalized group you belong to (or any others) then you’ll burn bridges and people won’t hire you”. If that is the case may the bridges I burn light my way.

So much of this year has involved loss on personal and vast worldwide scales. For me it involved loss of trust, loss of support systems, loss of safety, loss of jobs, loss of hope, loss of health, and at times prepping for possible loss of life. I have been scraping together what I can to regain of those things that feel lost, as I don’t believe all are always gone forever. I keep telling myself “this month will be better” only to have it sort of crumble in my hands, but I can’t give up. We all have small spark inside that can keep us going. Even if I have very dark days where it seems to burn low it always comes back. I hope it keeps you going too.
We all are suffering, but we all can improve one another’s lives if we choose to care. I apologize if I sound a little sappy here, but please make the choice to stop today and reach out to someone and offer them something they need. Whether it is financial (if you can), help picking something up for them, just a card, an offer for a coffee, or just your presence and a listening ear.
Give some of your spark to someone who feels their’s burning low so we can all get out of this time together.

This is my Still Life Cat Series, made and sold to benefit not only my cat Seti (who is the black cat in the series here) in the future, but also my roommate’s cat (who is the orange cat in this set).
Seti is a cat many of you may have come to know well. He is frequently featured in my posts and stories on various social media. To know Seti is to know one of the kindest cats that quite possibly has ever been born. He never hisses, never bites, never scratches. He enthusiastically enjoys belly rubs and it is never a trap! He is eager to sit in every lap possible. So as he starts to get older I wanted to create this illustration as a way to raise money to put away for whatever vet needs he may have, as I think we all want him to live as long and happily as possible. Half of the proceeds made from the orange cat piece will go to my roomate’s cat Maddie!

Which is your favorite angry little guy?
My first set of mini minis is happening for the Microdose 3 at Nucleus Portland opening Aug. 20th! Each of these are a very small 2x2" made with gouache and posca on wood panel
The focus of this set is obviously on large predatory mammals. We have a bengal tiger, gray wolf, grizzly bear, and spotted hyena here. I tried to give them all different personalities, with the tiger you see more fear, the wolf is more aggressive, the bear is more confused, and the hyena is more surprised. I love animals, and honestly if I had my way I’d focus on them a lot more in my personal and professional practice. That being said if you work at any nature focused group or publication please send me an email sometime, I’d love to work with you! You all know how much I love harpies, next to sphinxes they are my favorite mythical human-ish monsters
This year’s harpy is based on a more Russian folklore type harpy: the Alkonost. On the morning of the Apple Feast of the Saviour day the Alkonost flies to an orchard, where she rejoices and laughs. The Alkonost brushes the dew from her wings, giving healing powers to all fruits within the tree that she roosts
This harpy has a more humanoid anatomy compared to some past harpies, she feels more of a combo of a human and bird in posture. I also was inspired by Viktor Vasnetsov’s Birds of Joy and Sorrow (1896) when it comes to how her more human head is attached to her more bird body
She is single again, but ignore all those black widow rumors—she promises they aren’t true of course. She is free tonight, will you be her next date?
Just a spider lady, thought it could be fun to play with black widow/orb weaver patterns and body types in this creature. I know spiders really creep folks out (myself included), but hopefully this one is just a fun amount of scary

💛It is Valentine’s Day and I wanted to share my love of living artists and creatives💛 A while ago I made a piece about Supporting Living Artists. However, I wanted to make a new piece about that and start expanding the support. Creatives surround us and while they are sometimes visual artists they can also be writers, actors, musicians, game developers, and more. Think of the past few years and how often you have likely turned to a piece of media to get you through these hard times. Many creatives came together to make a song that kept you going, to craft a video game that changed your life, to write a book that moved you, to draw a piece of art that brightened your day, or something else entirely! Artists and creatives may work professionally, but they may also be creating as a hobby or a personal pursuit. Just as you may have turned to a piece of media to keep going, you may have made something of your own to survive either financially or emotionally (or let’s be honest, both)! This is why supporting living folks within the arts and creative communities is so important, it is something that keeps so many of us going on both the creation and the consumption end and is vital to our humanity Support can be financial, but it is as easy as liking something someone posts, sharing it, or offering a kind word. Something as simple as that can change someone’s life and should not be underestimated If you’d like to have this either of these as a mini prints, large prints, stickers, and button pins round out the new series for now so you can again express your support for those who work in arts related and creative professions, hobbies, and pursuits they are at my Etsy and Inprnt. Spring is renewal, a chance to regrow and become what you need to be
This is a nod to the ancient Greek goddess Persephone returning to the surface world. I have wanted to work on a series that shows the four seasons and with that I decided to combine in another effort of drawing some Ancient Greek goddesses
Everything here is my personal associations with Spring. Spring brings in the new rains that turn everything green. Water is the most life giving substance on earth and so I have always seen it so closely tied in my own mind with this season. Storks represent fertility and joy, and as the land starts anew in Spring that felt fitting. Of course the symbol of Persephone herself is the pomegranate and while the pomegranate may be more of a fruit we associate with the winter it also represents fertility too—as well as life and death. At the end of the day, Spring cannot exist with its abundance of new life without the symbolic and very real death that Winter brings, so it feels like a fitting symbol to add
I tried out some new brushes for this one as well as different shading in parts! I’m sure only I notice, but it was fun to experiment
Art feels pointless, but art is all I do. Seeing other people’s lives and work gives me a break, so I hope that this can also be even the smallest break for folks today🍒 I’m going to be ideating ways to make something new to hopefully raise money for some funds I’d like to give more to
We are our own, we should be able to make our own choices, we should be able to make our own futures. All bodies, all sizes, all gender identities!
I often feel very useless as one person in this big country to enact any change or help! I am an unfortunately slow artist so I apologize for the amount of time that has passed since the ruling for me to get this piece up. It has been a stressful week in a stressful month in a stressful year, and none of us needed to have more of our rights stripped from us and watch as more and more are ebbed away

I hope to have this print up for sale for at least a month (so like until August 1st?) Inspired, as always, by the Minoan snake goddess figurines (one of my absolute favorite art history set of sculptures of all time). This is not the first piece inspired by these historical goddesses and it won’t be the last (because I literally have something coming out next month that is inspired by them as well haha) I often feel at a loss about who I am as a creative, what I want to do as an artist, or even if this sort of career is right for me. Working on this piece, at least in part, reminded me about what I enjoy in making art.
