Hello Autumn
Fall is here in the northern hemisphere, so here's Portia and Hughes!
The duo are the current reps for Persephone and Hades, where they're kinda like demigods, but with a lot more steps and monsters involved.
Anyways!
I hope everyone has a good autumn and I hope those in the southern hemisphere have a good spring.

Pomegranate Queen
When it comes to symbols for specific goddesses, they aren’t so much things that could be doodled, like the female gender symbol or the triple goddess symbol, as they are objects that represent that goddess. Those objects could be turned into a 2D image that could easily be tattooed or carved onto something, but it’s not a set image. It doesn't matter which goddess from which pantheon you choose, there will be something or even multiple somethings, that speaks to that deity.
Persephone really speaks to me. I guess you could say I’m digging her vibes. She has a handful of symbols, but if you had to choose the one that would really be her icon, it would be the pomegranate. One of the most well known stories from Greek mythology is the story of Hades kidnapping (allegedly) Persephone, feeding her pomegranate seeds to ensure her stay, Demeter going into a depression from the loss of her daughter, and finally, Zeus intervening with a deal that Persephone split the year between them.
In so many cultures around the world, the pomegranate is a symbol of life, beauty, marriage, and regeneration, as well as power, blood, and death. To Jewish people it was used to represent the promised land. The Koran calls it the apple of paradise. Maybe it’s just my opinion, but I don’t think there is a Goddess more aptly described by this duality. Persephone is both the goddess of Spring, with its beauty, fertility, newness, and a goddess of death and the underworld. Maybe it looks a bit like an onion, but the outline of a pomegranate, with a number of seeds detailed in the inside of that outline, seems like a perfect symbol that could be tattooed, carved, or stitched onto anything as a representation of the Goddess.
Pomegranate juice stains your mouth and it drips from your teeth like blood. I think i want to drink it and drink you and devour you whole. Persephone’s lips are stained with pomegranate juice and my lips are stained with your divinity. She eats six seeds but for you i would have eaten an entire pomegranate so that i could always stay with you, always taste you, always love you. Her mother wails her name in grief but i say your name like it’s a prayer and you are my god. Persephone smiles because she is free and you smile with your teeth and drag them against my skin and i can only think that this must be holy. I’ve tasted heaven and it’s your skin and your lips and your flesh. You kiss my neck and my pulse is between your teeth. The pomegranate juice drips down your body and i drink it from your skin and i beg for more. I crave you obsessively, madly, incessantly, desperately, hungrily. I want to taste your lips, your hands, your lungs, your ribs, your heart. Persephone is laughing as the dead surround her and whisper her name and reach to touch her and her vibrancy and i’m begging to taste you again because you’re the closest i could ever get to heaven. I think i’ll go to hell for the things i’ve done for you but i don’t think i care because you taste of ecstasy. I’m drinking your blood like wine and i’m tasting your flesh like I’m running out of time and it’s so intoxicatingly addictingly divine. I make a throne out of your bones and your fingers make the crown and your teeth are around my neck. I have tasted all that you are and i crave more.
You smile at me with bloodstained teeth. Offer me a pomegranate. I eat it.

On the radio:
Percy was just going on a walk in the woods. Nothing special. He was just going to clear his head after having to deal with 3 campers who were all arguing about 9/11— it’s a long story. It was late dusk and you could only see a few stars when you looked up at the sky. He walked a bit more, going deeper into the forest. Everything was going normal until he saw little stepping stones going into a path, candles lit the way.
“Hello?” He called out, wondering if anyone was there. Nothing. He followed the path into a beautiful garden. It had so many times of plants that it was like the dictionary for plants. In the middle of it all was a beautiful girl with a flower crown, singing to the plants as they magically grew. He just stared for a bit and listened to her angelic singing. She finally noticed him and practically jumped. “Gods! You…scared…me…!” She said, catching her breath. “Sorry, your voice is beautiful!” He said, smiling lopsidedly. “And what is this place anyway?” She smiled softly and handed him a flower, walking over to a tree and sitting under it. “My secret garden.” She said, looking him in the eye. “I’m a daughter of Persephone, this is my happy place, my escape.” Percy nodded, playing with the purple rose in his hand. “You- your garden is very gorgeous,” he said, smiling at you and looking around.
"Thanks. I come here when I get tired of the real world. It's sad, really, but I hate it out there. Why should demigods have to live like this because of the gods stupid mistakes?" she said, a flower slightly wilting before she instantly made it healthier. Gods, please no. Not her... Never again. Percy instantly got reminded of Luke. And he never wanted to go through that again, especially with a girl so gorgeous like her. "That's true, but instead of hating the gods for their mistakes, I would thank them. For letting me meet you." he sat down on a bench next to you. "That's...awful poetic. Child of Apollo?" she asked. Percy chuckled and sideways smirked, "Son of Poseidon at your service." she nodded. "So that's why you smell like seaweed and salt water." Percy shrugged. "Good or bad?"
"Good."
"Good."
Percy just stared into her eyes for a bit. "I get it though, the world's annoying. Bleh." he fake gagged. She giggled and all the nearby flowers instantly had an aura around them, healthy and happy. "I never caught your name," she observed. "I never threw it." he answered, smiling and kissing her hand, "Percy Jackson." "I'm Y/n," she blushed.
"That's a gorgeous name."
"Thank you."
He smiled and ran a hand through her hair. "Why don't you come back to camp with me and we can hang out in my cabin?" he asked. "Sure, why not?" you replied. So you guys walked back to camp, not forgetting to blow out the candles before your departure.
Maybe the real world wasn't so bad. When your with someone you love, I mean.
